hi guys!
I don't want to be on a "diet" or do an exercise routine because truth is, I'm still learning all of this "healthy lifestyle" ideas
believe it or not, this has nothing to do with vanity. the past couple months, I have been feeling very tired and sluggish and I think it is due to some weight gain...which is making me feel not good mentally and physically :)))
so I hope you like these videos. each week I will try and give you an update! I will title them "getting healthy" so if this is not your cup of tea, you can skip em
but did want to share with those who could use some extra motivation like me!

I'm 101 pounds, and probably will never weight much more because of my metabolism, and I need to start getting healthy badly. All I do is sit on my butt and eat junk food right now. Even if someone is thin, they could still be rotting on the inside. This fall I plan on changing that. I'll be working out on the campus gym hopefully 4 days a week and eating mostly vegan food in the cafeteria.

you do know that if you start exercising you will need a lot of protein? It is a bit difficult to get enough protein from vegan foods
MegaLeNa93 not if you do it right. just make sure to eat a lot of beans, vegetables, and grains and you should be fine with protein.
I understand, I have the same problem, im 102.5 lbs and everyone is always like im skinny and fit, buy honestly I am not at all, I went running only about half a mile and almost past out. I just sit, eat unhealthy and play games and its so hard to do active things as much as I could, I always try to get healthy again but I fail

*MyFitnessPal* is a great app for keeping track of calories. you set a goal weight and when you want to achieve it, and it tells you how calories a day you should eat. then you log in what you eat every day and it shows how many calories you're actually eating.
Hiking means something different in California apparently. Paved trails, crowds of people...interesting...
She's taking a long walk. By definition, that's what taking a hike means. I know what you're thinking of, since she's not in the woods taking a long walk, she's not hiking, but she is.
Do you have to bring a machete to clear the trails where you hike? Hiking is popular in California and the weather is almost always good, so well known trails can be quite crowded.

I suppose that's why America is referred to as a fat country, there's people like Trish who see walking as a vigorous exercise.
Sometimes all we need is a buddy to get things started.. Walking with my friend helped me get the courage to do it alone... I have anxiety so I get nervous alone in public.. Doesn't mean I don't love being outside I just have irrational fears.. I am also self conscious about my arms/legs... But the beautiful thing is when I build up the courage to go out alone I feel so much better about myself & it's never as bad as I think it will be. Don't judge Trisha based on the few minutes she likes to share, you never know what emotionally she is dealing with. Talented/beautiful/wealthy people get depressed too... I am very happy for her.. She hasn't killed anyone or anything like that so try not to treat her in such a way..

I overheard a woman on the elevator talking to a coworker about how she started going on walks and using that time to talk to family and friends on the phone. While in the past she would sit at home. I think it's genius! If you have a sister or friend you often talk to and they aren't able to get out there with you give them a call :)
p.s. please please please don't feel self conscious or embarrassed! Every BODY deserves health and fitness no matter what size. The best way to end body shaming in this world is to start with stopping self-body-shaming. Say it with me "I am beautiful!" keep saying it until you believe it!

RaspberryChanX3 Well it'd be hard for someone to go from eating mainly take out and oreos, cookies etc as the main part of their diet to anything that resembles healthy.
+RaspberryChanX3 this is how you can spot fake healthy people. They will post it everywhere, even take pictures to say they are at the gym working out. Me on the other side, have been going to the gym for 5 years, and yet have still not uploaded one single picture of myself at the gym on facebook, or even said anything about it.
And lastly, they will be more concerned on what cloth to wear for a certain activity rather than getting started.

You go girl!! It just made my day to see this video and to hear you are seriously stepping up into eating healthier and exercising :) Just don't burn yourself out with too much exercise too soon or you may develop an injury. The bike at the gym will be good as it supports your body and doesn't put pressure on your knees. Cronometer[dot]com is an awesome calorie counting app but I only use it in order to get enough calories not restrict them. I recommend you google "7 day raw till 4 program" it outlines an eating plan (unlimited calories). Eating fruit all day is so good for you health and weight wise (and that's what I personally do), the problem is most people don't eat enough and fall back into 'bingeing out' on junk food. For instance one meal of fruit for you should be at a bare minimum of 8 bananas (blended into a smoothie with vanilla drops and water is super tasty) or 2 quarts of orange juice or 6 or more decent sized mangoes. Dinner could be 4 lbs of baked spuds (with low fat sauce) or 300 grams + of corn/gluten free pasta or unlimited rice with a low fat, low sodium sauce... the volume needs to be large because plant foods are low in calories but high in fibre and water. Good thing is we get to eat more of it. Anyways again just so happy for you, please keep it up and don't restrict your calories just eat abundantly of the *right* calories :)

Everyone saying she's given in and has finally realised she's "fat" is ridiculous. Maybe she just wants to be healthy and feel more energetic? And even if she does want to lose weight because she feels overweight, that's OK! She is allowed to want to be a few stone lighter. That doesn't mean she doesn't love her body.
Don't count calories. Make healthier choices.
Just take small steps. Its harder when you jump into something all balls to the wall.

Love this Trish!!! I too have been feeling similar to you and I haven't been wanting to go on a diet or getting straight to hard core exercises. I started last week and went jogging n did get sick. I've brought it down to light jogging and walking which has motivated me to keep going. I am feeling so much better and proud of myself. I hope you keep this and maybe make more videos like this. I enjoyed it and got motivated to keep going.

Im overweight and i really want to get healthy.
Losing weight consists of 20% exercise and 80% diet. I exercise, but i dont lose any weight, i cant afford any healthy food, because its so expensive. (i live with my parents and they dont buy me anything healthy either)
I wish i could go on hikes and stuff but my parents dont take me anywhere because they are lazy and "dont have the gas money"

You're just making excuses. If you really want to lose weight you will (regardless of your parents). Portion control is the most important thing so if you can't get your hands on healthier foods then eat less of the fattening stuff so that you are consuming fewer calories than your body needs to maintain your current weight. As for exercise, there are plenty of things you can do right at home--just look for suggestions on the Internet for exercises that you can do without leaving your home. You will find plenty. If you truly want to do it you can. It's not about your parents, it's about you and your attitude. Is it a little harder? Yes, but it's hard to begin with so if you have the strength to do it nothing should stand in your way.
Can you afford to purchase bananas, in season fruit & veggies, rice, dry beans, potatoes, pasta and a few other staples like tomato sauce? Super cheap!!
I lost 60 pounds in a year and you know what? I still ate "bad" foods. You can virtually eat anything as long as you dont consume TOO many calories.
Just try to make healthier choices when you can. Also, try a calorie counting app, like MyFitnessPal to track what you're eating, and try to pay a lot of attention to serving sizes. If you try and cut back your portion sizes, after a while you won't feel like you need as big of a portion. I don't mean starve yourself or anything, but like for dinner if you're having a meat, vegetable, and potatoes, try to eat less potatoes and more veggies. And for exercise, there's TONS of workout videos on UA-cam.
I'm so happy for you! Getting motivated is the hardest part to start working out and being healthy every day. But once you get going it gets easier and then you crave it. I've been working out regularly now for the past few months and I'm getting so much stronger already
Proud of you babes! You look perfect just the way you are but this it's really motivating to see you doing this! people don't believe me when I say I love my body, especially when I am dieting. So it's good to see someone who loves them self curvy and yet taking actions to a more active/healthy life style. You're amazing girl :) Btw, don't push urself too hard! in the beginning, you can train for just half an hour a day for a week or so and then start going to an hour. Love you!

And dont listen to the people that say you cant do it or will give up. They are just jelly (jealous lol) because they know that as you do this you will just be looking and feeling better and better! It's really awesome to hear you talk about getting a healthier lifestyle and not just talk about losing weight like a lot of people do (although that is a perk of course). I've recently started getting back into eating healthier and exercising more and it really is a lifestyle change, not just a "diet". You also look gorgeous post-hike with not a lot of makeup- all glowy and bright-eyed. Good luck on your journey- I look forward to seeing it unfold.
Trish, I'm sooo proud of u. I started working out too, jst a walk here n there can make a difference, maybe not in our weight, but the way we feel. It can make us feel relaxed, n so much better. Hey Trish, I recommend doing a juice cleanse for a few days to kick start your healthy lifestyle and detox your body. A juicer or a nutribullet work great and there are endless recipes that are so good for your body. It worked for me and I feel fantastic after a couple of days of juicing!!!
It's always best to eat the whole fresh ripe fruit and veggies because juicing them only gives you the juice from them and not the pulp which is needed to stay satiated and satisfied. Adding fresh juice is a nice treat, but the whole food is best.
yeah, sorry to chime in with the crowd but I disagree with this as well. Your body is plenty capable of detoxifying itself if you don't feed it anything weird, so a few days (or better even, make it your staple diet) of fruit and veggies will give you the same positive experience a fruit "cleanse" will without the lack of fibre and substance.

im so proud trisha! u inspired me to do this!!! i have a few weight loss tips! 1. is every morning, have tea with honey (before eating anything) 2. if hiking is too hard, boring, or not working, do yoga, or go in a sonah! its easy. trisha, im one of your biggest fans, and im not advertizing! but i want you to be happier and healthier! hope you use these tips and get healthier!!!!
Actually to loose a hefty amount of weight, you need to do cardio, which yoga is most definitely not.However adding yoga can help with some toning up, as well as weight-lifting. And tea is a weight GAIN hun, unless it's green tea, then that is fine since it boosts your metabolism. During a diet, regular tea or coffee should be avoided. I'm a personal trainer and dietitian :)
Humera S tea with honey is healthy as long as you dont add sugar and yoga relieves stress and stress has a big impact on weight gain
D.I.Y island :) I understand what you're saying about the yogo, but she needs cardio right now to drop the weight. Except if that tea has milk in it then it isn't fine at all, dairy causes weight to rise. I hope you read the part where I mentioned I'm a qualified dietitian and trainer, I have helped hundreds of people lose weight. So if you aren't a UK size 6 (like me) with your current methods then you know you aren't doing something right. But, it's your choice of course at the end of the day :)

tbh, i started slowww with the raw till 4 lifestyle. eating the same as i normally do, but having an all fruit meal for breakfast and/or dinner. it helped me ease and i am getting leaner everyday. just thought i'd share. cheers to getting healthy :)
Good job Trish!!! Keep it up & try to make fitness an addiction. I should tell myself that to. I also have a very bad shopping addiction~~~so bad that I shopped & bid on jewelry & things on Ebay for 7 days straight day & night with no sleep for 7 whole days. I did do good the last 2 months with food & bought all fruit & veggies but didn't lose weight so thats a bummer. I need my cortisol levels checked. My addictions switch from one thing to the next. At one time I was addicted to working out 7 I did lose a lot of weight but gained it all back plus a whole lot more.
You do realize that "having a fitness addiction" is the like the second main symptom of anorexia, and is what often leads to that and other eating disorders, right? Yeah...

MsCerise007 Funny story, actually. There was a study in Britain where two journalists went under a time-crunch "race" to lose the most weight in the shortest amount of time. They went through a TON of pre-screenings, both physical and psychological, to make sure they weren't prone to an eating disorder. BOTH of them started showing symptoms of one, and one of them even had to get removed from the study because she became full-blown bulimic.
So "anorexics" aren't really another race of people. They're humans, like you. They just become obsessed with the need to be "thin" and it goes way, way too far.
If you love food and have a fitness addiction, all you gotta do is binge-and-purge.
On top of that, Trish already has a history with eating disorders. So telling her to have any sort of addiction is fucked up.
IHeartYetis Actualluy it is not fucked up. NO way would she turn into one. People who love food are never going to be that way EVER. I am the same way & wish I could get bulimic & anorexic for a while & then stop but it won't happen & will never work like that. The people who are anorexic are vegans & can get even worse or vegitarians. They are the ones who are mainly like that and already have that desease or even the people who eat just a little because they are afraid to get fat & they are the same kind of people who always find something wrong with food in restaurants or see things in their food Those people are the worst.
I just started working out too :) I bought a gym membership and go every day. For me I've noticed that doing a lot of ab and leg workouts, not just cardio, really motivates me to keep going because even if I step on the scale the next day and I haven't lost weight, I'm still looking and feeling a lot better because of the new muscle tone :)
I'm totally excited for you, Trisha! I myself am starting to eat better and get healthier just to feel more energized and not feel like passing out after 20 minutes of cardio lol. Having a support system, I realized, is REALLY essential to sticking with a program, and we're here for you!
Give cycling a try. It's really low impact and it will give you a serious workout. It is expensive to get started though. Another thing that I do for cardio is ice skating. When eating don't be afraid of fruit, the sugar in fruit is healthy, eat lots of it.
I think it doesn't matter wat u eat it's the amounts u eat of it. Proteins fruits and veggies should defiantly be higher than oils and dairy should be somewhere in between.

Nik Bishop Freelee mostly lives on liquid smoothies. She sometimes has some bland pasta or potato for dinner. Where's the iron? the B 12? the calcium? What she is, is an orthorexic. Someone who severely restricts their diet to things they consider 'pure' and who literally fears any food they worry will make them fat. In her case, nuts, olive oil, avocados..all vegan, yet her worst nightmare in the mistake notion that she'll get fat if she consumes normal amounts of healthy fat. Trisha may or may not decide to lose weight, but making herself unhealthy in the process is not a good plan. Ever google the all raw vegan thing? lots of people talk about teeth rotting from their faces, hair falling out, losing their period..getting osteoporosis, liver damage. Sounds totally healthy, right?

I really hope you keep up with this, Trish! You're gonna look and feel so much better. Obviously a healthy diet is also important, but if you workout a LOT, you can give yourself more leeway in terms of eating! You got this. We're supporting you!

So glad to see your health kick! EVERYONE starts somewhere (I always try to keep this in mind when i'm at the gym since i've recently started getting into weight lifting), never be ashamed! Keep up the good work and i'm sure you'll meet your goal(s) soon enough! :)
At the end her eyes sort of freaked me out--they don't look like the regular bags you get under your eyes when you sleep on your stomach. Honestly I hope its some weird makeup thing (knowing Trisha!) she's trying and it doesn't have to do with her feeling sick.
Try the Lose It app, it counts your calorie intake and how many more calories you can have per day according to your goal and how much weight you would like to lose. You can add the food you've eaten and you can add what exercise you've done for that day, and it tells you how many calories you burned. Hope this helps and good luck on getting healthy!!
The couch to 5k is fun too, I just started in January of this year and I've already ran numerous races. Doesn't matter what size you are, you can do it! I've felt sick a few times running too but just remember to breath, relax and convince yourself that you won't.

I love hiking! It's a really good way to get in shape but it's also fun! It's cool finding interesting trails with AMAZING views, plus there are different levels of difficulty. I find it much more fun and adventurous than just walking along a road. :) I hope you enjoy hiking, Trish!

This is awesome Trish!!!! Always take tons of pictures. Take pictures of your workouts take pictures of what you eat. That's seriously my motivation. Also, keeping a journal of your lifestyle journey. So when your having a rough day, you can look back see what you have accomplished and it's motivating. Put pictures in the journal too so you can see how good you look and feel in your workout clothes!!

You don't have to go to only the hike track or gym either. It's amazing that you are:) But a quick 30 min walk around your neighbourhood is really important to. I'm saying this because when we think about getting dressed in workout gear and g
go out somewhere far like a gym or track can be off putting some evenings when we aren't so pumped to. So for the evenings you don't feel so inspired, just go for a nice walk around your neighbourhood and the days you do have the motivation you can go out somewhere really cool and make a day out of it. The thing is do something every day or two, keep it regular!!! Every little helps, sometimes we can build it up to much in our minds and fail before we start. So keep going:) The very fact you're thinking along these lines is wonderful!! Good for you.
