Find yourself an old school carrier for the pre folding shovels. Or get a green rubber one and cut a hole in the bottom for the handle. Then you can attach it where ever you want. I had to mod one for my glock shovel, worked great.
Find yourself some heat moldable plastic sheet (not sure the actual name) and make yourself a pseudo kydex sheath for a fraction of the money. Then spray paint whatever color you want. I love all my e-tools but my old Cold Steel always finds itself in almost every kit. I did strip, burn and oil the haft on mine. Makes its signature a lot less.
That Soviet e-tool was made to be worn on the belt, on the right butt-cheek (among other integrations) - it's the Soviet soldier's "multitool": hatchet, shovel, hand-to-hand weapon - all in one - some have even used it as a frying pan. My 2 pence: Make a sheath (to protect yourself and gear from its sharp edges), and place it behind the buttpack with sharp edges facing outwards. Alternatively, you can have it handing behind one of the canteen pouches (would make it easier to sit on the ground). Alternatively, you can place it horizontally above the buttpack. Also you can place it vertically on the yoke on your back (handle up for quick access). It's awkward shape is it's only drawback - otherwise, the Soviet e-tool is really the best out there. I usually keep mine on the side of the bergen (rucksack). Personally, I have the Austrian folding shovel (identical to US Vietnam-era e-tool) ...it's good, but if I'd choose again, I'd probably for go with the Glock E-tool.
zip tie a piece of sleeping mat into the belt for padding to make it significantly more comfortable, maybe spray paint the shovel so it stands out less.
Bore snake is ok for quick cleaning, but a rod is best in the event of a stuck case. Paint can opener is also good idea secured to chest rig for removing stuck cases.
Digging it man, currently working on my setup. I’m back and forth on whether or not I want a buttpack on the belt or if I want to just plan to carry a ruck/pack. I love the idea of having the bare minimum essentials on the belt though.
Thanks! My advice is stick with buttpack and assault pack depending on the gear selection. I run a medium alice as my ruck and have a smaller backpack for my assualt pack. Both work well with the Alice belt. Good luck with your set up brother!
I like your E tool concept. I have the same one, I keep mine offhand next to my bayonet. I tied it to the belt with 550 cord, and it freely dangles just like the old WW1/WW2 setups you see.
@AKDissident you gotta play around with the positioning to limit movement. It’s a little awkward but it’s manageable, again, millions of WW1/WW2 troops carried in the same fashion, hope this helps bud!
I made a paracord sling and CS shovel goes slung accross my shoulder in a LE mag lite flashlight ring on my sling. Aslo a mora knife and a mag pouch is mounted on the sling, really easy to do and works great.
Video of bookshelf contents is coming when?? I see some neat lookin publications, it'd be neat to see a video on what your library is lookin' like. Cheers mate!
Well it would be a good video but I had to start my book collection over due to moving issues for a new job…but I’m building it back up! I had a about 20 different light infantry tactics books that I had to part withZ
Good advice to get the old green nylon carrier for folding e tool and cut a hole in the bottom .. to make mags easier to pull from pouches , ranger cords or magpul mag pulls . Mount your bayonet to side of buttpack is you need more real estate on your belt
I do not if you still rock this belt kit. But take another alice mag carrier and place it on the dump pouch. Then attach the dump pouch on the grenade loops
You need a sheath for that Spetz shovel! Cold Steel makes a nylon sheath and while it isn't everything I'd ask for it does work. Good on ya for rocking the e-tool. Have you clipped the suspenders to the d-rings on the butt pack? I couldn't tell from the video. Doing so will make the butt pack flop around less, which is a good thing. I've been carrying and modifying ALICE gear for decades and have a bunch of unsolicited helpful hints if you're interested but maybe I oughtta just make my own video. 🙂
I've seen guys simply use 550 paracord to attach the H or Y harness to the belt or Alice mag pouches. All you need would be 4-5 inch lengths of paracord one end looped through the harness and the other looped through the Alice belt holes or the little grommet hole on the rifle mag pouches. Make sure the paracord loops are an appropriate length- 4-5 inch is my guess it just depends on where you want the belt on your body. Want it lower make the loops bigger and vice versa. You'll enjoy an H harness with an Alice belt!
Yah apple juice my foot and the fuel canister they are all one standard size except for the bigger ones does it matter which one you buy the base is all the same size in the top that you screw the burner into is all standard all the same size no matter which one you get and on your canteen those little pouches on the side are for your water purification tabs to go in to
All good reasons to have a USGI e-tool! The main reason I use the sapper is because I can replace the handle if it breaks in the field. Plus I can sharpen it, use it like an axe, & add serrations if need be. Main downside is that it isn’t compact…you got me there.
You don't run a chest rig because you want to hit the deck. I don't run a chest rig because they cut painfully into my breasts. We are not the same.
Viva la difference 😂. 🎉
Haha yes we are not the same.
I mean I know some guys who probably have that problem
We get it you're a women
I never really thought of the logistics of running a chest rig and/or plate carrier while having breasts.

I'll check that out!
I'd really recommend to put some sort of safety sheath on the shovel if you want to carry it with sharp edge toward you back.

I'll look into this
Hand sanitizer works great with cotton balls for fire starting
Thanks for the advice!
You know what? Not the worst Ive seen. Solid sub from me
Keep making videos for sure
Appreciate the sub 👍👌

I do have a rod in my chest rig. I'll be making a video on that shortly.

You can carry an ALICE pack (for example) just fine over an assbag. You can have both.
Good stuff. Always looking for new ideas, you helped with that. Thank you.
Glad to help!

Good tip!
You can get a ww2 style etool holder on the back of the suspenders
I’ve seen those on eBay. I’ll have to bite the bullet and buy one!
Picking up my alice kit today got the entire kit from Vietnam era for 40 bucks looking forward to it I have another newer version I love ...
Can't go wrong with the classics like the Alice system. It's made for war fighters.
@@minutemancorner4434 Couldn't agree more brother..
Nice video thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
The bayonet is something that MUST be trained because it is more important to a rifleman then a handgun in my opinion.
It's definitely overlooked and underutilized.
Both? Both is good.
I do both

My setup is similar, ALICE kit but I have an LBV instead of suspenders. 6 more mags, 2 more pouches and LOTS more ALICE attachment points.
I used to run an lbv88 set up too. Adds a ton more mags!
Good advice to get the old green nylon carrier for folding e tool and cut a hole in the bottom .. to make mags easier to pull from pouches , ranger cords or magpul mag pulls . Mount your bayonet to side of buttpack is you need more real estate on your belt
Thanks for the input brother!
@@minutemancorner4434 you’re welcome .. I wore ALICE gear for a long time .
Alice canteen cover makes a good shovel cover
slide the shovel down behind the pockets on your alice pack
I do not if you still rock this belt kit. But take another alice mag carrier and place it on the dump pouch. Then attach the dump pouch on the grenade loops
Two words…. Canteen Cup!
I have a titianium cup in the butt pack.
The canteen cup would free up space in your butt pack that could be used for other valuable gear.
You have a nice setup though.

I’ll check that out!
The problem with the CS shovel is sharpening it's a one time deal. Maybe the steel has changed.
I'm hoping the steel holds up!
Well fella, you know you can get a cover case for that shovel , and run it on your Alice Peck also…
I’ll consider that!
I like the Alice gear I just wished it was more friendly with AK mags since I don't have an AR.
100% agreee
i have a kydex sheath for my russian shovel, think it was like $30 off etsy or ebay
One of my Alice harness clips broke and I’m going to modern h harness what would be the best way to connect them ??

550 cord, works.every time.
I'm curious Pistol and magazines are not part of an alice setup? 🤔
It can be but the standard rifleman Loadout is- belt, suspenders, 4x mag pouches, 2x canteen pouches, and a buttpack.
I would like to know where you got that bayonet from I've been looking all over the place for one
I got it off of venturesurplus.com for a steal. Otherwise you should look on eBay.
Ok cool thank you

Get cover for over head like others mentioned then bungee it to the alice Y strap on back above buttpack
Who are you expecting to be fighting: Canadians or Mexicans or US?
Probably both.
Okay X 10 in first 2:44 minutes
Good job you can count!
Your comment helps fight the algorithm
Really? My issued e took had a serrated edge so I’d prefer that any day.
Could literally sharpen it. Folded. Like a pocket axe that you could take a shit with. Iykyk.

Which size belt should I get to fit my 34 inch waist?
You could wear a small or large (no medium) small goes up to 34in and large starts at 34in.
Chest rig under
It’s made by the ODGG guys. Believe it’s call the partisan rig.
1982 called, they want their deuce gear back.
Hey this stuff never went out of style!
Get cover for over head like others mentioned then bungee it to the alice Y strap on back above buttpack
Will do 👍
