100% agree with hardshell holsters! There's lots of options for retention - I have a Cytac hardshell holster, which has a lock on the trigger for retention instead of relying on friction like kydex. Plus, hardshells have the benefit of protecting your pistol from bumps, falls, and other smacks. Another option: chest-mounting your holster. Because of hip issues, I have mounted my pistol to a chest rig via a molle adapter. If you want to keep your hips freed up (at the cost of a slower/less ergonomic draw), rig-mounting a pistol is another option to consider. I'd highly recommend chest-mounting for outdoor players especially - less chances of your legs getting snagged in brush.
I play duel pistol only or shotgun/pistol outdoor. You don't need a fancy belt, just pick up a leather belt. A hard shell holster is something I do recommend for sure. A hard shell holster is key for being able to side arm super fast. The way I play duel pistols is have one pistol in hand and one in a hard shell holster. Pistol only use a aap01, mk23, ssx23 or hi capa or glock. I myself use 2x hi capa 5.1s. The main pistol you can m4 adapter/hpa tap it and the side arm on the holster you can hpa tap that one and use shotgun shells in it with a shotgun shell mag adapter. The reason being is size and use. M4 adapter pistol never in holster will be used often the shotgun shell hpa adapter used in certain moments. The shotgun shell adapter let's the gun sit on your side with lower weight and less size then a M4 mag flopping around. Also nothing wrong with duel wielding no hpa and no mag adapter hand guns. It's super light and easy to maintain. Often you won't go through many mags and they're easy to fill.
I'm perhaps super old school, with an old fashioned flap holster, and a single mag for a P229/P38/P08. Granted, I'll always be running a primary rifle for SMG. As Vince has mentioned, it's a secondary/backup!
If it's properly adjusted and fits the pistol well, that type of holster is absolutely the most secure kind. You have to do a bit of a cost-benefit analysis, and consider how often you speed draw a pistol versus the risk of losing it with less secure options.
Great vid I enjoy your basic overview videos lots of good advice and details the M17 does have a trigger reset but it only does it with the mag inserted it is very short but I prefer that way
