Have fun with it bro, these cars are super fun even when stock. They don't even require that many mods to add some hp and a lot of tq. I would definitely recommend in the future to get e30 tuned. I just got my first fillup the other day and I'm almost empty now, it's so fun lol
@@bryxe-982 No mods needed for E30, all you need is to get a custom/flash tune, fill up at your spot and switch tunes. Obviously the few mods you add after the tune, you'll feel a bit more power. But I truly think the big difference is the E30 mix. Should be night and day once you switch to E30, whether you are completely stock or not.
Just a note for those with newer 2.3 engines, Ford made a change to the program on how it identifies your octane, instead of showing negative -1.000 for good fuel it now shows a positive number 1.000 for good fuel. That is something people should be aware of in case they have the newer programing from Ford. My 2021 Ecoboost Mustang has the new program that reads octane as a positive instead of a negative. I am not sure which model year Ford changed how it reads but I know on the 2021 and newer you will see positive 1.000 instead of the old negative -1.000.
I would say even if it stresses you out to keep it on display when driving around. If I whould have been watching it the first time and not put it in the glove box I probably whould have saved my first motor. I whould have seen the engine knocking and let off to keep cylinder 4 from melting. But lesson learned and $6,100 out of the account. I feel better now that I watch the accessport to keep track on how my baby is doing at all times. Hope you do the same.
Thank you for being so thorough. I just purchased an ST after watching all of your ST related content. What is acceptable for oil temp? Mine got up to high 190’s yesterday ambient temp was 70. My timing went up to 2.43 at one point. Is that in normal range also?
High 190s, even low 200s is normal. As long as your ignition corrections are positive numbers, you're good because the system is adding timing. When you start to see negative numbers, it's time to ease up because the system is detecting knock. Stratified's site has a great write up on engine knock. I recommend it.
I sometimes will see a .53 on the negative. I told Alan at edge I'll be installing one step colder plugs and cleaning the valves this weekend. Is this something I should be concerned with immediately with that minute of a number? Thanks guys. 2013 focus st
@@HoldenLester-rn2ml If it were me, I would take it very seriously and stay off the throttle until it is figured out. Also, make sure you get only top tier fuels, and if you find a reliable consistent gas station, try to get gas there every fill up.
Not hating or anything, but i found out a while back that these cars actually dont have an oil temp sensor, the way the factory guage works is its based off of coolant temps. Im no expert, but i wasnt able to find the sensor anywhere when i was trying to find out why my car took so long to warm up, asked my dealer and they said the car used other parameters to mock the temp of the oil. So technically unless you have an aftermarket sensor, your shouldnt have to monitor oil temp.
when i have octane adjust lrn on my accessport it gradually declines every tank of gas started at -1.00 and eventually got to like -40.00 any reason why?
It should not do that because the reading is set for 0.000 up to -1.000 for the programs that record this as a negative number. My 2021 Mustang uses the new program where Ford changed this to read as a positive number instead so my COBB will read the octane as 1.000 a positive number.
Hey cameron can I ask what you initially purchased your focus for? Considering your location and all that, because I'm looking for one my self in Michigan and the prices can sometimes be steep
@blindfox1443 I made the choice to buy a already modified car, with the justification being that it was cheaper than buying the mods afterwards. However that's the main reason I want to get rid of it so I messed up 💀 I love the Focus ST it's platform, I just hate that mine isn't "my own." As someone who's worked on cars as a hobby and almost went into it as a career, it just hurts my soul that I didn't build that car, it just doesn't feel right, and it doesn't feel like it's mine. On top of that, even though my car has a lightweight flywheel, it still has rev hang due to the throttle mapping, which can no longer be tuned out on most "plug and play" flash devices due to Green Speed and increasing pressure from the EPA. This makes the car SOOO annoying to daily drive, and as someone who's really particular about my machines, it literally ruins the driving experience and adds to my disliking of my car. Like my 99 Cummins, has faster falling rpm, with a heavy duty flywheel, over a sport oriented hatch with a lightweight flywheel 🙄 I can't stand it lmao. I wish I bought an unmodified ST, because I would've done it my way, and I'm about certain I would still like it to this day, plus if it were my own, I'd be more motivated to switch to a different tuning solution to alter the throttle mapping. But oh well you live and you learn I guess. Sorry that was a whole spiel but you asked lmao
I cannot stress this enough but leave it at home! People steal these things all the had my window smashed in and it was in the center console..run it every now and again but leave that shit inside the house unless you wanna buy another one
@@Gg-pp6el yah I literally plug it in once a month do a pull data log , check it and if all is well put the ap away for another month lol everytime I’ve checked it everything was tip top ppl stare all the monitors worrying all the time if all you have is some bolt ons and a tune you really need not worry
Positive is not a problem, my 2021 Mustang High Performance Package will read up to 6.00 for positive timing on a single cylinder. It is the negative timing you need to be aware of. What you don't want to see are negative timing all the time i.e. you are driving and it is showing a constant -3.00 that means something is wrong, either bad fuel, to aggressive of a tune or something else causing engine knock to be detected resulting in the computer pulling timing. A short spike that just shows up but does not stay is ok, the computer is working like it was designed to, it detected a knock and it pulled the timing for a split second and the event is over with. As long as the engine does not detect knock it will keep adding timing up to the programed limit in the ECU, that is good and what you want.
Like how it’s straight into the video and not talking a lot at the beginning 👌🏽
Just copped an ST! Love this channel!

Would you do a video like this for the STI
For 2:04 - should you monitor the big number for the ignition cylinder or the little numbers?

Thank makes sense. My Cobb accessport read the temp and it was accurate with the gauge that comes stock with the car

Hey man when setting LC on the cobb what is the LC hard cut and the LC soft cut
is Oct adj Ratio Lm -0.25 safe for my 2015 focus ST?
when i have octane adjust lrn on my accessport it gradually declines every tank of gas started at -1.00 and eventually got to like -40.00 any reason why?
So you said for fuel it should be -1 but what happens if it goes to -2 or
-3
It should not do that because the reading is set for 0.000 up to -1.000 for the programs that record this as a negative number. My 2021 Mustang uses the new program where Ford changed this to read as a positive number instead so my COBB will read the octane as 1.000 a positive number.
Is that about the same for the fiesta st?
298 hp for a daily is good 👍🏽
