Yeah, because it looks like shit. I don‘t mean the graphics. I mean the amount of screen-bloat with sparks and neon colours everywhere, you can‘t see shit, you have no clue whats going on

Yeah, like I understand that games take some decent time to learn, especially a game with some more complex mechanics, but dear god Deadlock is off-putting. I think the "this player is on fire" marker above a flaming player instead of just showing some flame effects over a player model absolutely shows the core problem of Deadlock's interface and design problem. It's too damn complicated.
Solid video! Here's my thoughts: Deadlock is just Dota 3 with a different name. Deadlock won't replace tf2 for the same reasons Subnautica or Rocket league didn't replace tf2. As for why valve chose to make a moba shooter hybrid, i don't think it's purely about market trends. Dota 2 is more or less perfected, so the Dota devs wanted to do something different.
To be honest I don’t hate deadlock I hate that valve is capable of making a completely new game but still can’t make a major update for years if valve simply adds some new weapons everyone will stop being schizo I bet on all my hats
Most of this comment section are stuck at the first and second phases of grief, as much as it is lame tf2 is not getting the updates and contents both the game and community needs, Y'all just have to accept tf2 is an old relic game and Valve would prefer to prioritize future projects such as Deadlock. Atleast were getting the final comic.
I feel like the “replace” connotations are less on its going to replace it in the sense you’re thinking of and more replace it in the minds of Valve itself. TF2 has already been pretty dead on the front of updates (no gameplay related change for 7 years?) but this game appearing means there’s the possibility of even less being put into TF2. I tried Deadlock myself, and honestly? The gameplay loop does not try to actually be any different than the other MOBAS and just feels like TPS DOTA. While I love the art style and world feel of the game, the gameplay just does not actually try to be any less painfully boring or polarizing. Appealing to this market does not need to be done, especially since Valve already has two of the biggest games in this market (CS and DOTA) and I understand the apprehension of TF2 players entirely.
@@tengoku-hanabanashii3933 honestly tf2 has been getting more attention now than the last 7 years, the bot fix, summer updates, new modes/maps, all this while they have been cooking deadlock, i genuinely don’t see how someone wanting to work on tf2 at valve suddenly switch to deadlock just because it’s the new thing

yep the definitions are funky, but i the main thing i was saying is that tf2 doesn't appeal to mainstream audiences, just like how splitgate, diabotical and halo didn't appeal to the masses
Deadlock is a Hero Shooter MOBA. TF2 has been retroactively added to the Hero Shooter genre. Dota 2 IS a MOBA. Play Valve apologetics all you want, Deadlock will be actively competing with two of Valve's games, which from a business standpoint is just a stupid idea.
@@southernninja7786 What if someone wants to play a game that’s a mix of dota 2 and tf2? I really don’t know why you’re saying this cause i think tf2 and dota player counts are still stable after deadlock soft launch
@@done_for Then that's a disturbed person. Deadlock has no staying power as of now. One mode that's just a MOBA, forgettable soulless characters, and in an oversaturated genre. The only thing propping it up at the moment is the fact it's a Valve game, otherwise no one would even know it exists. Again, just makes no sense to make a game competing with two of your previous live service titles. Unless Valve makes a dramatic shift in the game, I don't see it succeeding beyond a year, maybe two. By that point it will likely fall into the trap of Overwatch and Paladins, making broken overpowered characters to keep the game fresh, over correcting them and making them useless, only to repeat the cycle the next hero. On top of that, you have the MOBA items likely to be constantly buffed and nerfed, it's just going to be a disaster since Valve historically listens to the wrong people when it comes to balance. Just look at TF2 for the worst example of this.
Nobody asked for deadlock, we want tf2 updates like the good old days and half life 3, if valve wanted to repoularise tf2, it would not be hard, just update well like the good old days the the older sleeper players will comeback, maybe even advertise it, because it is better than basically every fps game except half life
