STOCK MEDIC The doctor's primary equipment is the best to keep you alive, he has a syringe weapon that deals pure damage with no disadvantage other than it being a projectile, but if you learn to use it correctly it causes a lot of damage and the best part, you are not obligated to use it if you have a good positioning, which is good to always be building uber. "But there's the blutsauger and the overdose which is better" firstly, the blutsauger forces you to be aggressive at all times to keep your life healthy, making you put yourself at unnecessary risks and consequently no bulding uber all the time, now the overdose to use it to its maximum potential, you and forced to use other mediguns other than the stock one since it has the slowest uber in the game, and don't even say "just use the ubersaw" and put yourself at even more risk? What's the point of earning 25% on Uber and being dead? Is the same case of blutsauger which makes you be much more aggressive as a doctor, something you should avoid. And here comes the bonesaw which may even be the "worst" melee weapon since it has no effect, but it has the highest attack speed which is very good for finishing off opponents who underestimate you and of course it is the best weapon for self defense as well as the standard syringe gun, you see a pattern, don't you? And its true strength is that you are not tempted to use it on any enemy, since you would gain nothing, but you would stay ALIVE. Of course the crossbow and ubersaw exist, but they are only good if your team is good at protecting you, otherwise you will be more vulnerable than you already are. And another thing, I just hate people who just play a style of play without any variety just because it's the "meta", but this will make you very predictable for the opposing team which will cause a loss. I see so many tf2 fans whining about how their game is better on every deadlock post I see. i get it, you're upset the game's not recieving support anymore. But like. Some of us just like Deadlock more. Deadlock consumed my soul. I couldn't get into TF2 and the complaining from its community definitely isn't helping.

Deadlock is a Hero Shooter MOBA. TF2 has been retroactively added to the Hero Shooter genre. Dota 2 IS a MOBA. Play Valve apologetics all you want, Deadlock will be actively competing with two of Valve's games, which from a business standpoint is just a stupid idea.

Most of this comment section are stuck at the first and second phases of grief, as much as it is lame tf2 is not getting the updates and contents both the game and community needs, Y'all just have to accept tf2 is an old relic game and Valve would prefer to prioritize future projects such as Deadlock. Atleast were getting the final comic.

as a 2008 tf2 player veteran i can say that everytime when valve cooks new game = tf2 fans angry. remember dota2? "oh, who wants to play moba in 2011? it's dead genre" remember csgo on release? "oh we won't get updates anymore" (same goes for cs2 thing) tf2 players really need reality check and understand that people who work on deadlock aren't same people who worked on tf2, does icefrog even acknowledge existance of tf2? that's the question you need to ask :)

To be honest I don’t hate deadlock I hate that valve is capable of making a completely new game but still can’t make a major update for years if valve simply adds some new weapons everyone will stop being schizo I bet on all my hats

I feel like the “replace” connotations are less on its going to replace it in the sense you’re thinking of and more replace it in the minds of Valve itself. TF2 has already been pretty dead on the front of updates (no gameplay related change for 7 years?) but this game appearing means there’s the possibility of even less being put into TF2. I tried Deadlock myself, and honestly? The gameplay loop does not try to actually be any different than the other MOBAS and just feels like TPS DOTA. While I love the art style and world feel of the game, the gameplay just does not actually try to be any less painfully boring or polarizing. Appealing to this market does not need to be done, especially since Valve already has two of the biggest games in this market (CS and DOTA) and I understand the apprehension of TF2 players entirely.

A friend of mine (big TF2 guy btw), played Deadlock, he says it was fun and was pretty good, though despite that, he says he still prefers TF2.

Deadlock will replace overwatch if anything. It's a more enjoyable take on that cool down and ultimate ability based gameplay.

Solid video! Here's my thoughts: Deadlock is just Dota 3 with a different name. Deadlock won't replace tf2 for the same reasons Subnautica or Rocket league didn't replace tf2. As for why valve chose to make a moba shooter hybrid, i don't think it's purely about market trends. Dota 2 is more or less perfected, so the Dota devs wanted to do something different.
