EDIT: I mentioned that Hart House used Beyond burgers in their recipes but I have since learned that their “burg’r” and “chick’n” are both their own proprietary blends! So neither Beyond nor Impossible.
LA is an amazing place to live. It used to be a working man's paradise, Socal. It's overcrowded and overpriced now but I still love my home town from afar.
@@katashley1031 oh no no hate to LA, I’m not even American. I meant that it’s so far away from me so I wouldn’t ever move there. Should have been clearer 😅
I never understand these people who think vegans should not want meat replacements. Most people go vegan or plant-based because of health reasons or ecological/ethical reasons, NOT because they just “don’t like meat”. I went plant-based for health reasons. I never LOVED meat, but I did like it. I was even keto for a long time, thinking it would help my type 2 diabetes. (It didn’t. Plant-based IS.) Do I miss meat sometimes? Yes, for sure. And that’s why I like meat replacements.
I'm blown away about two things one I didn't know Kevin Hart owned a private restaurant and the last thing tomorrow went straight to the salad first. If you're a die-hard fan of her you would understand she is not a sad girl she just admitted but it's amazing that she actually went for it.
I commend you for addressing the consumerism and waste that goes into being a UA-camr/influencer. I appreciate you addressing that you are not going to waste the food. And if you know you won’t eat it I’m sure the houseless people would be more than willing to take it off your hands. I have stopped watching people because they say they care and are aware, but still purchase things like costumes to do try on hauls. I appreciate you backing up your words with action. Also, have you tried the vegan weed restaurant, they have the yummiest nachos and you can smoke if you choose. And if you ever felt like a day trip to San Diego, there is a delicious raw vegan restaurant in ocean beach called PEACE PIES. They are delicious!!!! I guess I’m what you call a flexitarian. My husband and I eat and try vegan food. Grocery outlet is a good source for us to try vegan food at an affordable price so if you don’t like it you didn’t break the bank. I like the heart house and Mr Charlie’s is my favorite!!!!
Speaking to Joe Rogan on his podcast back in 2020, Hart described himself as a "plant-based eater," but also added that he does eat chicken from time to time. Hart also said that people could follow a plant-based diet without becoming "engulfed in that world.". Hart also explained that he had learned a lot about vegan sources of protein.
Hi Merle - this is so awesome to see how happy you are with this meal and it inspires people so much to try food that you might not be used too👍😀 and right after this I will be checking you and Arias new podcast out -so thrilled to hear your points of views😉👍
I'm so glad you tried Hart House after I was yapping in the comments about it last week. I'm probably not the only one, but ... was I right, or was I right? It's amazing. I also thought the prices were great, too. I need to go visit the actual store (food truck came to work). I'm really glad you like it. And as for feeling guilty about food ... think on the other hand that you're bringing awareness to great places like this that can help people investigate vegan options!
Psyched to hear that the burger is Beyond Meat. I don't if its just me, but as a long time vegan I don't really like Impossible -- although I do appreciate how popular it is.
The new Gardein... idj if I spelled correctly... ultimate burger tastes like Beyond burgers I think. I like impossible because I can make it tast however I want doesn't have to be "flame broiled" flavor
If you’re ever in Portland area you gotta try super deluxe! They make their own veggie burger and blows beyond and impossible outa the water man. It legit taste like a greasy flat top burger. They carmalize onions when frying it up with it AND put raw onion on. That’s the key. It. Tastes. So. Good. By far my favorite fast food vegetarian option.
Great video and the stuff looks amazing! Wish we had a Hart House here in Canada (at least here in BC interior, maybe they have some in Toronto or Vancouver). This is the best commercial ever for Kevin Hart (hope he sees it). I love any chance to find out about plant-based fast food. We need more options for people like me who need to satisfy that hamburger spot craving that comes up once every two months or so but are now vegetarian. You make these takeout videos so much fun. At least I know what to hit up if I’m ever in LA. 😊
Thanks for reviewing Hart House! I heard about it a while ago and they had plans to expand at the time but I'm not sure if it will ever make it over here to South Carolina.
I am a meat eater, but I do love vegan/vegetarian options every once in a while and wish this was available on the East Coast! Especially for the Nashville chicken sandwich that looked good and the nuggs! LOL 😂 and I feel the same about Beyond meat. Love their sausage, but prefer Impossible burgers. 💗
*Kevin Hart just earned a ton of respect from me...i had NO idea he had any commitment to eating plant based and finding out this restaurant exists made my whole damn day. My dad literally made that argument a few weeks ago 'what an oxymoron, if you're not eating meat why TF do the plant based products TASTE like meat'..... I think that's the stupidest question on earth. Do people really think most vegetarians and vegans made the change because they didn't like the taste of meat? No. Most of us gave up meat because it's just plain barbaric and horrid to murder animals, so it makes COMPLETE sense for meat Replacements to mimic the taste of meat... without the murder. Like, OBVI.
I agree, it’s a stupid question. And its usually not being asked in good faith. People who pose it think it’s some kind of gotcha that reveals some sad truth about vegans.
I happened upon this when I visited LA all the way from New Zealand earlier this year! It was up the road from where I stayed. I remember LOVING the shake and the spicy nuggets, but it was all superb. Glad I got to try some of the best vegan fast food LA had to offer 🙂
Another place that’s nearby! It goes on the list. Looked at the menu. Not a fan of mustard but I will take one for the team because the chicken sandwich does look good.

Hey cool! My sister and I recently traveled to LA and tried Hart House for the first time. I was like "did we go at the same time?!" Haha but we went on Nov.1st. It looks like the same one..did Hollywood High let out while you were filming? Lol I agree with everything you said - best vegan chicken sandwich I've had! We also tried Plant Powered fast food a couple days before. I couldn't get over their in-n-out animal style fries dupe 😍 they call "Iconic fries." Their blueberry soda was unique! I really want to try Monty's good burger and Mr. Charlie's whenever we go back..
@MerleOneal If you haven’t already been to Donna Jeans you have to give it a roll! If you make it to San Diego you can try it here but the LA spot is fun as well. Brunch is next level there, just saying.
I'm not from LA but visit regularly. Here's what I would love to see: a taste test of a classic burger from each of the vegan fast food places. I know of Plant Power Fast food, this Kevin Hart restaurant, Monty's, Mr Charlie's, and I'm sure there are others. But if I'm only going to get fast food once while I'm there, which one should I get??
Watching this, I laughed and cried. 💖 It made me so happy how you loved every single item on the menu and how amazing it looks but then I cried a bit when I realized good food can be 100% cruelty-free. We don't need to exploit animals for delicious and healthy food. However, next time I'm in LA I'll definitely be stopping here more than once! Well done on the video, Merle!! 🥰🥰
Merle, I was touched by how you spoke about unhoused people. I was homeless in Seattle for about four years. I can tell you’re very socially aware just by the nuanced language. People often speak about people who are homeless/unhoused in a very dehumanizing way so I just want to let you know I appreciate you. The homelessness crisis isn’t your fault and can’t be solved by you alone (so don’t feel too bad), but if there’s anything you can do, I think just voting for political candidates who prioritize affordable housing and living wages is really important. Avoid candidates who take a “tough on crime” stance. Vote for candidates who are compassionate toward people with substance use disorder. Forced rehabilitation is mass incarceration in disguise. Vote for social programs/a robust social safety net. Don’t be fooled by candidates who just want to build a bunch of temporary shelters/tiny house villages but have no long term plan for helping people live dignified lives. We need real systemic change. We need to give people adequate tools and resources to help themselves, not take them into facilities against their will so the government can just hide them and make the streets look “clean”. Okay, I’ll get off my soap box! 😊

Wish we had vegan fast food in Colorado, specifically NOCO. Not that we would eat like that all the time, but it would be a nice option for when I was being lazy. Kevin Hart - who knew???
I'm in Colorado too and have been so bummed that del taco discontinued their beyond tacos. The Chick-fil-A near me also had the cauliflower sandwich for a short time and then that stopped, after I became obsessed. Taco bell doesn't seem to even care to try a plant based meat (huge bummer) so the only fast food options were left with are the Starbucks impossible sausage egg and cheese (omg so good, if you haven't tried it, you HAVE to), the burger King impossible whopper (always hits) and the black bean burger at good times. Oh, and shake shack and jersey mike's offer portobello sandwiches. I'm almost insulted, in addition to sadly disappointed, that more restaurants can't care enough about animals or at least the people who care enough about animals not to eat them, to offer these options. Especially given that impossible and beyond have come out with SO much and plenty of people want it.

I wish I lived near LA because of the sun and food. I’m in the Midwest😭 I feel you about the homelessness that’s going on in this country. It hurts my heart. Those fake crunch slurp noises are not my ear’s friend, lol.
I personally prefer beyond meat over impossible, I liked meat my whole life but was never into the like "bloodiness", or ground beef in general, was more into lean steak or chicken. Beyond is nice cause its not exactly the same as beef and I feel its seasoned a bit better. I'm glad they both exist for everyones preferances. I also like that beyond is not soy cause lord knows I already consume an insane amount of tofu lol, I appreciate the varience of protein source haha
I will never eat impossible. Heme is tooooo sketchy. I love the beyond meat choice. This looks like heaven. In Portland we have a burger spot called NLB that does plant based sliders and shakes- but the burgers are more "designer", and they dont have chicken... mmmm those nugs and the chicken sandwich looks like heaven. Even if slaw is a sin on a chicken sandwich.
Merle, I just started Eating " Faux" Meats a couple of years ago. I've been Plant Based or Vegetarian since, 1994. I, didn't think " I'd like the Taste, of " Faux" Meats. I, have only really have tried Beyond Meat Burgers, Morning Star Corn Dogs, Lite Life Hot Dogs & Soy Chorizo to name a few. I, love Beyond Meat Burgers. Especially, from Carl's Jr. with No Cheese or Sauce. I, come Home & Dress, it up with Vegan BBQ Sauce & sometimes a Plant Based Cheese. I'm kinda scared to try Impossible Meats! I've heard it has Hiem in it from Plants to mimic the Taste, of Real Beef. So, I'm on Fence, because that may gross me out!!!
It doesn't matter whether or not she works in the Hart House marketing department, she's giving her honest personal review. Guys, stop hating on her for being so complimentary, just because this might be her job to do it, it doesn't matter. Also, please stop commenting on how she said, 'These people' @12:03 as if she's racist, because that's not fair.

I need to travel to LA. I would do nothing but eat. Maybe do some yoga and dancing but for the most part, I'm eating!
I mean... that sounds like a perfect trip?
I wish I lived near LA because of the sun and food. I’m in the Midwest😭
I feel you about the homelessness that’s going on in this country. It hurts my heart.
Those fake crunch slurp noises are not my ear’s friend, lol.
was going to check this out when I'm in LA next month, no way I'm driving 90 minutes for fast-food, I'll stay in Laguna beach
Thank you for acknowledging your privilege and using your platform to share a good message 🎉🎉🎉
Hart House hopefully will rival McDonald's
I've never wanted to try a place so bad!!!! I'm all the way in Canada. I love beyond meat more because of the aftertaste 😂
Nice circles pops
Omg am such a bb right now, I’m super not ready for a relationship 😢😊
Loving the green, you did dress accordingly!
I think they have chik'n sandwiches.
Hart House makes their own recipe, they don't use Beyond or Impossible.
Question: what do you do to actually verify sustainability claims by the corporations you promote?
I lived on the streets from age 18 to 21 and I can assure you the homeless people want your leftover food, its definitely not insulting ❤
I’ve been waiting for you to review this place. I’m going to have to catch a flight ✈️
Worth it, tbh
I am freaking out too!
The only beyond burger I have liked has been from tgi fridays. I was also never really a burger girl though.
I think they put some kinda wacky 'baccy, or something in there. Merle was high on food!
This makes me homesick, lol. Hoping he expands to Chicago.
Kevin Hart also has a vegan supplement powder called Vita Hustle.
Now I want to go there just to try this and I am in Europe 😂
Boat/road trippppp
Absolutely delicious-looking!
