You may notice that Amy's tofu scramble was on the tier ranking but I never covered it, this is to support the workers protests and boycotting due to poor working conditions.

Hello my friends! What vegan ranking would you like to see next? (Also plz drop any egg puns you’ve got)
It would be awesome to see a bean burger or cauliflower cheese burger ranking. We have spicey been burgers & cauli cheese burgers here in the UK are really tasty 😋. 🇬🇧. Xx
But what about the Amy's egg icon left on the ranking....👀
How about coffee creamer or milk? There are some newer milks on the market that are trying to be more like dairy milk that would be interesting to rank
Vegan foamable milks would be a nice one. That way we're building up to a nice breakfast.
I’m not vegan but I love your videos! Recently I had to eliminate all cows milk from my diet because my breastfed baby has an allergy to it. I NEED a replacement for Alfredo sauce! A ranking video or a recipe video would be amazing!😊
To defend JUST Egg a little bit with their serving sizes, the bottle is 355g, and a chicken egg is ~50g, so the bottle should have about 7 "eggs." So when they talk about servings, they mean egg equivalents.
I get that, but the Just egg seems way more watery than normal eggs
It has to actually cook down to the same size though for it to be comparable. It’s not a fair equivalent, it’s legal false advertisement.
Just Egg is the best but it is a bit pricy. About half the time it’s on sale so that helps. I usually make breakfast tacos with it and I get 5-6 from one container. For some reason I haven’t been using Kala namak even though I have literally a lifetime’s supply.
@@romankarol5370 you just need to cook it longer. I make omelets with it, including veggies, garlic, oil, and black salt, that taste just like real eggs and has the same texture. Many people have been fooled and thought it was made with real eggs. 😊
@@princess3193 😒😒🤮🤮
Rosemary extract is often used as a preservative. I'd guess that's why it's in the "hard boiled egg".
I notice rosemary extract as a preservative in many foods I buy. I hate the taste of rosemary, but the flavor is undetectable to me.
@@stephenlurie821wow, the flavor is very detectable to me.
I saw this at Trader joes tonight and asked my daughter if she wanted, and her response was a violent no. Damn that kid has good instincts.
the flavor of black salt disappears during heating, so I think it's smart that that company added a little pouch that the consumer could use as a finishing touch
Hey I'm so sorry to hear that you got laid off. I love ur content , as a non vegan , and wish you great personal success in your journey. Love you!
I see what you did there.
@@vegancam good to know, coz I myself didn't. What did u see?
@@vignesh.s7100 I think they probably saw connections between your use of "laid" and the video about eggs
@@crustyshrimp1761 bro I didn't even notice 😂😂😂ig I'm just an intuitive punner😂
Go vegan vignesh it isn't hard in india
Im not vengan nor vegetarian but theres something about your energy and your videos that i LOVE! i have been following you for a while and im never bored of your videos, so funny and unique and im loving these rankings too, thank you for the videos, stay safe
Well this is so beyond kind of you, thank you so so much for the love and support. it means the world 💚
@@MerleONeal have you done vegan pepperoni yet like renegade food or Louisville vegan
Thanks for trying all these for us! I'd love to see a vegan bacon ranking or vegan fish rankings.
adding to the list!
ooh yes a vegan fish ranking would be very fun
You’ve gotta include Meat the Mushroom Shroomacon! Black owned Mushroom bacon business!
I made a quiche with the pepita one! I added broccoli and vegan cheddar, seasoned crust and it was DELICIOUS
It must have been! I'm feeling like i NEED to try a quiche with it now
Love the Just Egg patties. They are perfect on toast with some Beyond sausage patties. Liquid eggs seem too expensive for how tiny the servings are. It makes more sense to me to just make a tofu scramble with black salt, but maybe in recipes they make sense. Great video and I appreciate you sacrificing your taste buds for a ranking video. 😆
They are quite good
Didn’t know they had patties! My daughter likes-ish the one in the bottle. I’ll have to look for the patties.
Caribou has a really delicious sandwich made with those just egg patties.
When you said’ “I can’t do it” you sounded British and it made me laugh! I love these videos so much and your real genuine reactions! Keep on being your wonderful self! You are doing great!
as someone who strives desperately to pull off a British accent you have no idea how happy this makes me
this woman spent days hunting down the trader joe's eggs!
Idk what I’d do without your videos. They genuinely saved my life. Mentally and physically these videos have opened my eyes to so many thing I CAN eat.
Tux, this comment made my entire week
I love the ranking videos so much! Thank you for doing them. Plus loved all the eggy puns!
The way I only watched goodful for you… been supporting your channel for years. Will always continue.
Love these ranking videos! I was actually at the grocery store wondering if I would like any of these alternatives. This video helps!
Loved this video Merle! Eggs was one of the hardest things for me to give up making the transition from vegetarian to vegan and when Just Egg was released, it was (and still is!) a true blessing to all of us egg-missing vegans. The egg patties from Just is GAME CHANGING - love them about as much as you seem to do.
Super happy that Just Egg has really been able to cut the price from when they were first released - I feel like I remember them being something crazy like 8.99 or 9.99/bottle at first!
Woooooooh, I'm early! So excited to watch your personal channel grow. You are SUPER entertaining and I enjoy watching your video's!!! Much LOVE to ALL!!!
The rosemary extract is probably not used to impart flavor but as a preservative. I've seen that as a comment in ingredient lists before.
Yeah, you can't t taste the rosemary when they use rosemary extract as a preservative.
If you read food labels, you will see that rosemary extract is a VERY common ingredient. It doesn't affect the flavor of the end product.
Additional fun fact, rosemary extract is a very common preservative in pet foods (especially treats), because it's safe for most animals. If you've ever made homemade treats that your pet doesn't seem crazy about, compared to storebought treats, try adding a little bit of rosemary. A lot of times pets have just come to love the taste of rosemary since it's in so much of their food (in a high enough quantity to taste, unlike when it's used as a preservative in human food).
I enjoy these ranking videos SO much, thanks!!
I'm so glad :)
Love your videos Merle!! So refreshing to watch a genuine, kind and thoughtful soul with all the chaos going on in our world ❤️ your true self really shines through and we can all see it! This video was eggxcelent!
Thank you so so much!!
My mouth actually dropped open at the price of the fried egg one. I hadn't tried just egg as it seemed kinda pricy but after seeing these other prices it doesn't seem too bad. I wasn't expecting TJ's one to be so bad lol usually they do pretty good with their vegan items
100% agree with your top and bottom picks. I tried looking for the frozen Just Eggs at my Vons in LA the other day and couldn’t find them… until looked in the discounted freezer section. Really hope they’re just on sale and not being discontinued.
Love your videos! Thank you!! As a mom of 4 cooking gets annoying but watching your videos help inspire me to find my love again!
Aw thank you so much, I'm glad to help in any way. You got this!!
You're my girl, Merle. Thanks for another rating video. I think these may be my favorite type of videos that you make (right ahead of remaking Gordon Ramsey vegan recipes). I'm generally unfamiliar with vegan eggs, so seeing the range of them and receiving a review of them was particularly helpful. I'm personally not off of eggs, but if I ever do kick the habit, I can definitely see myself eating those just egg patties on my breakfast sandwiches. Also thanks for trying that Trader Joes egg so that other people don't have to.
If you are looking for ideas for future ranking videos, I would personally love to see you try some of the major vegan freeze-dried backpacking foods for a ranking.
Edit: I misspelled your name and fixed it.
you've GOTTA try the egg patty
You inspire me so much, Merle! Another fun video
This is incredibly helpful! I’ve been making tofu scramble for 20 years, and I love it. But I have a disability (NOT vegan related) where I might not eat breakfast if I don’t have my scramble prepared. So I need options. Thank you for volunteering as tribute for this taste test!
Eggceptional video, as always! Your face with the TJ eggs had me cracking up. 😉
Thanks Merle!!! You are the OG of vegan rankings. Haven’t let me down yet!!
Simply Eggless is carried by TJ but it is not a TJ brand; it is carried at other stores. I’ve heard multiple times that it’s gross as a scramble but really good for baking.
Thanks for your feedback! This is what I was thinking…. The packaging even emphasizes baking. I’ve tried it as a scramble and it was… an experience I care not to repeat.
Will definitely try it as a substitute in baking next time.
Why does it smell bad?
Hey, glad you did this video, is a fair ranking. And it was informative also, at least regarding some of the products. There is also the one that is called the vegan accurate runny egg yolk from The Vegg. I suggest you try that one too, you might like it. Is kind of hard to get it, we had to order online for ours, but it was taste worth it. 👌 Good luck!
Oh gosh i totally felt for you with that last one. We dont have anything like those here in the UK. I keep looking and hoping but nope xox
These videos are entertaining HOWEVER is such a great resource as I search for the best of every substitute! My only mozzarella is Myokos, thank you for that Merle 😂
I absolutely love just eggs scramble on top of an everything bagel. I add some beyond sausage, chopped onion and mushrooms. Sometimes vegan cheese. It’s delish but the servings in that container imo maybe equal at the most 3 servings. The just egg patty is the best. It’s perfect in a breakfast sandwich.
Have you tried the recipe for vegan egg yolk dip? None of the egg substitutes I've bought have satisfied my poached egg craving, but a simple mix of cornstarch slurry, turmeric, nooch, and black salt has been my go to for months. Granted, I have not tried many egg substitutes, but this is a super simple and effective recipe!
I'm sorry I'm late to this, I was saving it for the weekend ha, so good to have our reigning vegan queen back tho!! 💖❤️💖❤️ PS it sure would be amazing to see Aria join you in on some of these at some point!! 🙏
Omg I have to get these hard-boiled eggs for my Ramen. They actually put rosemary extract in many things for flavor, which I happen to love, so I think I'll really like this one. I haven't had a hardboiled egg in 5 years.
I really needed this video today
I use the JUST egg for the consistency and for the flavour I add Shani’s seasoning (2 Dozen eggs) and extra pepper. It’s perfection.
I *loved* the Goblin King recitation! How ice to see that my Jennifer Connelly jab was taken in such good spirits!
But what really interests me, if anything, is what can be switched for eggs in cooking & baking. I make some truly bad-ass whole wheat bread, for example, and it still requires things like eggs & dry milk in order to come out right. It would sadden me if, for example, that prevented me from serving you any, and there are probably many similar situations we could all run into.
I always love these ranking videos! :D
Honestly I don't think I've ever seen a vegan egg in stores here in Belgium.
It's one of the major things keeping me from upgrading my vegetarian diet to a vegan diet.
Lmao, the trader Joe's XD
This came at such a great timing!! I was wondering what vegan egg alternatives are out there I would want to try 👏🏻🫢this video is such a massive help! Thank you☺️
Rosemary extract is a natural antioxidant and preservative, so I'm guessing that's why they used it in this hard boiled "egg"
ahhhhh that makes sense
I knew exactly which one you spit out because I too had the same reaction. Then I giggled when you said "hopefully I saved the best for last". You're a star for trying.
Just a tip: I've used Just Egg to make mushroom/spinach quiche and it was light, fluffy and amazing. I also use the frozen ones to chop up and add to veggie fried rice. I find it really versatile.
Hey Merle! I love your ranking videos! I'm also curious about the ingredients that are used. I don't live in the US so I don't have access to most of those products but I want to know how the ingredients are similar or differ with the texture and the taste. I think that would be interesting. Just a quick though! Love your chanel!
The fart sound when you say sulfuric is SENDING me. Love this review.
LMAO glad you enjoyed that, i was hoping people would notice
For me it's hard to find any vegan scambled eggs in my local supermarket. How would you rate a selfmade tofu scramble (I prefer the recipe from Rainbow Plant Life) in comparison to the ones you've tested?
Thanks for you vegan rankings. They are always so interesting and fun to watch!
Rosemary is in there as an antimicrobial additive :)) also another great rank video xoxo
Thank youuuu
I'm with you on the patties. I love to cook a vegan sausage patty with the patty (I find a but of water sprinkled over each makes them soft and yum). Then melt a slice of cheese, smoked gouda flavor is best, on top of the egg, top with some dijon mustard or hot sauce and plop it all on a toasted english muffin or bagel for a super-duper vegan sandwich. Most tasty!
When you combine egg and chorizo(or soyrizo) it looks just like the first egg substitute! Really takes me back 😅
Omg I felt that when you ate that egg at the end 😂😅. Love you Merle❤
🥴
9:28 you literally became my best friend when you said that lil just egg bottle is "2 servings, 3 at best!" 😅💚💚💚
Lol, that simply eggless did me dirty too!🤢 ...😅 you really took one for the team...thank you💐... I hope they listen and go back to the drawing board on that one!
I'm also glad that just egg dropped their price from 7.99 to 3.99 in most stores
YOU KNOWWW it's true!!
The labyrinth was up there with the princess bride for epic cult following movies 😂💚
the last one made me laugh sooo hard. thanks for doing it and saving us from suffering it.
@Merle O'Neal I wonder if some of these may have come out differently if you hadn't done them all with constant stirring? For regular eggs, I mix in a little water or veg milk, mix well, then pour in the pan and allow to set before flipping, as one thing, usually for a sandwich. I tried that with JustEgg, and it IMMEDEATELY separated, and forced the product to become stir scrambled, almost instantly, rather than a flat disc. I have not tried the precooked version, because it is so much more expensive by weight. Thanks for saving the time and money for us with these tests. I can't imagine an $18 egg. I was hoping they went all out, and you could make deviled eggs with them.
I would love to see you trying others' recipes and then making a side-by-side comparison with either your favorite process product or your own recipe.
oooo this is a good idea
The fart with reverb effect every time you talk about sulphur is absolutely taking me out
I just wanted to say that I highly appreciate the fart sound happening every single time you said sulfuric.
lmao im glad
Thank you for a nice alternative video.
I’ve finally got around to using aquafaba. It’s pretty amazing for whipping up!
Glad it's workin for ya
Okay, Ive been using the Earth Breeze laundry sheets for about 2 years. I got the unscented ones because I can't stand scents.
I have noticed no difference from the liquid detergent I used to use. Cleans well, is way easier to take to my shared laundry.
I like it. They are good.
That's my review. But then after you runout of your current detergent.
I can honestly say I have never seen any of these in the UK stores, only Oggs and occasionally Crack'd. Love the video though and I know what to look out for when it shows up in the UK!
Great as always! As someone with a family history of cancer I find it concerning how there's so much focus on real eggs and cholesterol and none on how Choline (which is in all animal based products) makes cancers, especially hormonal cancers, more aggressive.
There's only one study that found a link between choline intake and death from prostate cancer. The authors even discuss in their discussion that the evidence wasnt strong enough to show a causal link and that there may be other factors affecting their data. There have been larger meta-analyses since then that haven't shown any link, but to be fair I haven't looked at the sources and funding behind those studies.
Also, plant foods have choline as well, albeit generally in smaller amounts. Soy has been linked to benefit and prevent hormonal cancers and yet soy has the mis choline of any plant source, so much so that nearly all choline supplements are derived from soy.
Not trying to say eggs are a healthy food compared to plant foods, I'm just trying to say that there's nuance when discussing the link between choline and cancer and using single studies as fact can de-legitimize the actual health benefits of a plant based diet.
I love the just egg patties !! I work at a vegan cafe and we make a breakfast sandwich with them and they’re soo good
ohhhh I wanna sammie
I'm not even vegetarian (though I love to cook for vegetarian/vegan friends), don't live in the US, but I just love all of your content!
I would watch you rank all sort of things: Memes, Box Juices, bottled water, tv shows. anything!
You can definitely get closer to 6-8 servings with the Just egg if you make it in the microwave, that way you loose less product to the pan... I do mine in 30sec intervals, stirring between each, until its done to my liking.
Interesting tip thank you!
@@mmirandaaaax I'd like to give another tip, if you grease the bowl or mug; i use vegan butter, before adding the just egg it makes clean up MUCH easier... Especially if you can be lazy like me and sometimes leave a dish sitting.
rosemary extract often used for keeping things fresh its a natural preservative
Totally agree. I've only had the just eggs and the trader Joe's one. The just egg patties are better than the liquid, but the trader Joe's one is horrendous. I used it to make french toast once with their vegan brioche, and it was awful. I had to throw it out.
I've found a method to getting more out of the liquid Just Egg! Simply microwave it on a paper plate/ceramic plate and scramble it halfway through the cooking process. I also like using this method for omelets! (cook toppings separately then spread on plate, pour Just Egg over them and microwave)
Great tip!
I really wish I could find the Be Real Egg in my area. I'm going to try to make that vegan egg with the yolk that you can cut and it's runny but it's so much work!! There used to be a vegan restaurant in my area that made this egg on the weekends but then they quit doing brunch. 😔
Thanks for the warning about the Trader Joe's egg!
I was hoping that you would include tofu with black salt, pepper and nooch to compare with the others. I have tried JUST Egg, and liked it for omelettes, but for taste, convenience, and price, you can't beat tofu. The texture is like hard boiled egg, but the taste is exactly what I remember scrambled eggs tasting like. I used Trader Joe's sprouted tofu. I bought the black salt from an Indian market.
Just egg…I chop up mushrooms, green onion (sometimes additional veggies) put on parchment paper in my air fryer tray, then add the just egg and some black salt. Sometimes hot sauce. Air fry 10-15 minutes. When it is cooled, I cut it into 6 servings and put on an English muffin. Yummy!
JustEgg products are my favorite. Folded patties for breakfast sandwiches and liquid for scrambled eggs. ❤
Rosemary oil is a natural preservative, that's why it might have been in there.
rosemary extract is used as a preservative because it has antioxidant properties so that's probably why it was in the the hard boiled "eggs"
I'm an omnivore and although I like my meat, I also love some of the veggie meals too. I've got digestive issues that have yet to be properly diagnosed (always been told its ibs but none of the diets or medication work) i eat everything that's none free from : except butter and limited cheese (can eat normal cheese but it makes me sick so I stick to dairy free or have small amount of normal cheese). I love eggs but again, my gut doesn't. That's why I don't use eggs often. A pack of 12 lasts about 2 or 3 months for me xx
Thanks for another fun video.Your content is so good enjoy all your jokes entertaining and also educational WIN WIN✌! I hope your channel blows up I think we need more vegan content to go viral to keep up with all the other cooks out there.I blame the algorithm.
Loved seeing all the taste tests and your ratings. I would have to agree "Just Egg" is my go to. Also the price point is actually kind of okay for a treat now and again. AND YES!! the portion size per bottle is so out of touch with reality.
But I give them a pass for creating a A plus tasting option. I haven't eaten real eggs in 15 years so I would try all these products except the last one and be so happy.
MAE thank you so so much for the kind words. Onward and upward we go!
I haven’t tried all of these but out of the ones I have, my favorite is the pepita one! I do think it’s the most NOT egg like but I like that. I think it tastes better!! Also the ingredients are better than others that are usually just oils. And oh no, I just bought the TJ’s eggless 😭
I'm a big fan of the pepita one! it does seem like the healthiest option.. and as far as TJ's .... run while you can
I was not a fan of the TJ's either, but I baked it with some strong sauces and seasonings and that made it bearable to at least finish the bottle :/
I tried the Trader Joe's eggs before you made this video and I was so hoping it would rival Just Egg. It's a travesty it doesn't.
Aside from that, I was actually going to try the Eco breeze sheets but I'm not getting a discount. Did the discount already expire? :(
I'm guessing the just egg changed their recipe because when I first tried it, it was pretty off but I love their just egg patties so don't see why it wouldn't be better now in the liquid form!
Free range eggs are some of the healthiest food items imaginable. Literally packed with essential nutrients.
i would love to try just egg but can’t get past the plastic bottle 🤦🏻♀️ would be grateful if you’d try a mung bean egg recipe!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Great suggestion!
Check out Cheap Lazy Vegan's mung bean egg recipe. I used it and it's the closest I've had to actual scrambled eggs
@@MerleONeal As an Indian, I would say it's pronounced as "Moong" but I loved you pronouncing like "Mung" haha.
@@Jeevan_Official you can see on the Just Egg label at 9:09 that we spell it mung. I've only ever seen "moong" on packaging of imported Indian foods
Sauce Stache also has a Just Egg dupe recipe
Merle what did you do to your hair? It looks eggceptionally eggcellent
Black salt loses its sulphurousness after a little while exposed to the air - that's why it's best to add it at the end of cooking a tofu scramble, and probably why you add it yourself to the wunder eggs :)
ahhhh good too know!!
I honestly like the simply eggless, but i season it, add sautéed veggies and lots of nooch
Black salt, black salt, black salt (AKA kala namak)! You gotta add it if you want that true "eggy" flavor. Just egg and the like don't add it for you in case you're using it in baking or other recipes that you wouldn't want it for, but for scrambled, quiche, etc, it's a must!
Black salt diminishes quickly once it gets wet so it wouldn't be good to pre mix.
15:10 it's so sad - because it's misbranded. Simply eggless fails as an egg, but it's amazing if you use it uncooked as a tahini substitute. I wish they rebrand it before it's never seen again.
Thank you we have Just egg in all three of the grocery stores were I live I haven't tried it yet. I was to afraid
This made me wonder about the Follow Your Heart egg and it appears as though it’s been retired. Do you all remember that one? It was pretty repugnant but it was the first pretty widely distributed vegan egg product meant to eat (not just to replace eggs in baking).
I don’t think that the simply
Egg is a Trader Joe’s product. I know it’s sold there. But I actually got it at sprouts over a year ago, and hated it even then!
Oh that last one! It looks identical to one in Australia and I had the same reaction except I didn’t even try it, I sniffed it and it went in the bin. Now I try not to think about it. And it was $8!
oh my gosh, almost 20 bucks for a single fried egg??? was there really only one in the package???? I will personally stick to tofu with black salt and other seasonings lol (both are very cheap where i live)
The last one is how real eggs tastes like to me
In cases hasn't been said before, I believe the Rosemary extract is used as a natural preservative.
As always, love your videos.
The only problem I have with buying those sheets is the price!! Any of the sheets that are more earth friendly are so much more expensive then the commercial stuff.. which is unfortunate especially with the cost of everything rising.
Consider detergent powder. No heavy water, no plastic bottles
I love just egg and just recently tried the patty version too. its amazing on a bagel sandwich! ❤🥯
Have you tried Kalanamak salt for the Egg taste?
not vegan but when I avoid eggs, this osy scramble:
~25% chickpea flour batter, and the rest maybe half firm tofu cooked together and half silk tofu added in the middle or close to the end with care. Some black salt and pepper, maybe turmuric for colour.
The right ratio of chickpea batter, esp. not too much, makes it pretty yolky.
