Prices seem pretty on par with elsewhere. At least here on the east coast places regularly charge $10+ for a smoothie, and I recently spent $40-50 on two plates, a kombucha and a lemonade at a vegan restaurant. Erewhon seems about the same price as the salad bar at Whole Foods.
If you want a delicious vegan chicken and waffles experience, check out The Wild Chive in Long Beach! It's a little pricey as well, which is kinda to be expected at most vegan restaurants these days. But not as expensive as Crossroads, and the portions are generous. Their chicken and waffles dish is probably twice the size of Crossroads'. I usually have leftovers. Make sure to ask for a side of their housemade hot sauce too! Soooo gooood
Oh, Erewhon...I was in LA a few months ago helping someone with a move, and we went to Erewhon once bc it was nearby. All we bought were a few groceries (spent nearly $50 on not very many things), then spent over $40 on 2 smoothies (and about half an hour waiting for them to be made) Yeah, $20 smoothies. They were good, but I don't think I would do regularly if I lived there. Strawberry Probiotic and Malibu Mango. I probably would have those once a week if they were half the price. Good thing there was a Trader Joe's and Whole Foods nearby, as well as some smaller grocery stores. I live in a fairly expensive area myself (Bay Area), but even those prices took me aback. Gotta say, LA as a whole does have some seriously amazing food, and this is coming from someone who lives in an area with amazing food already.
The videos I remember the most were those you made from Tasty about trying simple vegan meals. You can try vegan meals from other countries, which use real veggies and food. For example, springrolls from Vietnam (fried and raw), the special thing is the peanut sauce, japchae from Korea, and rich veggie dip from veggies for dipping (those are my common vegan meals when I want to eat meatless). The diet in this video sounds super expensive to me. And if possible, can you make a video sharing how to be vegan and obtain full nutrients at the same time? Thank you!
The Kourtney impression at the end made me giggle snort :P This sounds nuts, but as expensive as a lot of this stuff is, it feels like the norm these days for fast food no matter where it is. Here in New Jersey, it feels that way. I'd just rather put the money into mom and pop shops instead of big names. Thats just me.
Right, like by the time I order Ubereats or Doordash, I'm pretty much paying $25 for my food. This seemed right in line, other than you still have to pick it up.
I live in NYC and the place across the street from me has $26 chicken and waffles. The whole time I was thinking these prices just sound like kind of normal restaurant prices, which is why I don't go to restaurants hardly ever. (Except for the Erewhon stuff, which did seem expensive for grocery store prepared food.)

What you said about impossible meat is super valid. I like that more companies are getting vegan options but at the end of the day they all taste similar because it has the beyond undertone.
My wife and I haven't eaten out at a restaurant in 20 years for this reason, just ungodly expensive and frankly I can make better at home. I make my own Fettuccine noodles from fresh milled Khorasan wheat berries which is not gluten free but it has about 1/3rd the gluten and being an ancient grain has a different type of gluten which is much easier digestible for those with that sensitivity. A huge serving for two people cost me about .20 cents to make. I make a bolognese sauce from mushrooms, cauliflower, walnuts, I grow my own gourmet mushrooms and the sauce cost probably about $2-$3 tops. I mill my own wheat for garlic bread, a huge loaf cost me about $1. So what I make at home for two huge servings is about $3.50 plus a decent bottle of wine that I usually get from Trader Joes for way less than $10 a bottle, so less than $13 for TWO meals plus wine vs $24 no wine for ONE is a no brainer.
@@thecerealsong i can make a batch of Fettuccine, the dough about 10 minutes, let sit 30 minutes, make the noodles in about 10 minutes, let dry until I am ready to cook them which is usually 30 minutes. A large loaf of bread last 3 to 4 days. Takes about 35 minutes of actual work to make a loaf of bread, rest of the 90 minutes is just letting it rise twice and 20 minutes to bake it. @@gabrielaherrera3665 I see what you're saying now, that makes a lot of sense. I live in a small southern-ish town and I think a lot about trying to open a late night vegan diner. The fun thing about the diner format is it would let me throw together all kinds of random menu items and let people choose what they want. I feel like overall breakfast is a category that vegans can do well in with a restaurant. Especially if you can do some sort of house made seiten sausage or something similar.
I'm Canadian and that maple syrup looks legit. Must be from Quebec to be more exact, in which case it explains the price because its price basically doubled in the last 4 years.
Everything is so expensive now in L.A. It's weird, because Erewhon still has the vegan broccoli beef listed on the menu. Also, you have to try the Haley Beiber smoothie. It's the best one. But even more expensive.
Yay, also falling for the 'must have more protein' spiel. We only need around 3-5% of our daily calories to come from protein, that's how little is in human breast milk. Unless you plan on doing more growing than an infant (or want to help grow cancer, they like extra methionine and leucine in spades). Source, dr. Peter Rogers biochemistry lectures on cancer growth.
@@MerleONeal I get it :). What's advised is just a lot more than what's actually needed and excess protein isn't without dangers is all. Best of luck and gains.
Thank you! I learned the same think through Dr. Michael Greger a number of years ago but same message. Excess protein increases your risk for many things like cancer, metabolic diseases and death, more so animal protein but even a lot excess plant protein can have negative effects beyond a certain amount, differences depending on the person. The average person only uses about .66g/kg of healthy body weight (not including excess body fat). Only equates to 45g/day for the average 150 lb healthy person. Though 0.8g/kg is advised just to ensure one with higher protein requirements doesn't lose any muscle mass, still the average vegan gets about 170% of this standard.
I had that Pepperoni Pizza and have been dreaming of it ever since. Crossroads prices are crazy but as a foreigner travelling to LA am I wrong if i felt everywhere else was not that much cheaper? totally agree with you about the fake meat. The thing that bothers me the most about the impossible meat, is some places made amazing veggie burgers, but stopped serving them once the impossible meat came around (also pretending like there were other similar items out there before it)
Also make Natalie Portman and Alicia Silverstone recipes, for a video, oh, and then, watch one of their movies and give a review. Dinner and a movie :)

I just paid 22 dollars for a vegan ramen that actually was INCREDIBLE ON beyond Sushi but come on ! lol
I'm Canadian and that maple syrup looks legit. Must be from Quebec to be more exact, in which case it explains the price because its price basically doubled in the last 4 years.
It was grade A syrup for sureeee
Crazy you could tell the province just from how it looks lol, I’m not at that level of Canadian yet
Looking to build muscle mass :)
@@phillippinter7518 Thank you for your reply. I often get pitchforks when i mention anything about limiting protein (or fat for that matter).
Wasn't that the telecom Logo on the rocket money ad? Is the telecom international? I thought there's nothing more German than telecom. :D
What’s crazy is that those are regular prices for vegan restaurants in Dallas,TX
Tx is not cheap contrary to popular belief
Crossroads rules...best brunch in LA!
I had that Pepperoni Pizza and have been dreaming of it ever since. Crossroads prices are crazy but as a foreigner travelling to LA am I wrong if i felt everywhere else was not that much cheaper? I mean Crossroads prices are a bit more but it really didn’t shock me after every other restaurant, I was kind of expecting it to be even worse.
In Canada our Jugo Juice smoothies are 13$ 😢😢
What kind of chicken and waffles are those? There's no Gladys Knights Chicken n' Waffles close by? You'd get larger thighs, bigger waffles and better sides.
totally agree with you about the fake meat.
I actually did try a Natalie Portman week night stew recently- it was so good!!
I’d love to see an- “eat like Sadie Sink” for a day!
ohhh do you know of any interviews where she's talked about her diet?
Love Crossroads homemade croissants! They give u 3 different flavors, but on the smaller side. If still available
My monthly food budget is $200. I won't be trying these anytime soon.
Love our vegan queen!! I always look forward to these videos!! Also, as a fellow libra, can relate 😂❤❤❤
Wow i thought for that kind of money you would get Something you cant get any where else, something special. I can't really compare prices since i live in Europe, but that much money for just okay food? That is wild
I make vegan bolognese at home all the time and it's so cheap but also delicious and filling, so I don't think I could ever spend that much on a bolognese, but, it is fun to try the expensive food now and again as a rare treat I suppose.
More like this ❤❤
the cameraman breathing is so funny
He's tired because being married into Kardashian family is EXHAUSTING!
Celebrities: Alicia Silverstone, Natalie Portman, maybe even Lizzo o Madelaine Petsch. If you are looking for high protein options, see bodybuilder Brian Turner.
Ps. I make a killer vegan bolognese with mushrooms and lentils 👌
I second Madelaine Petsch ! She ate so well
Merle, your Kourtney impression at the end...I can't lmao
Traaaaaav.......
I was just commenting on how robin said "tu MER ic" instead of "TUmeric" he said it like her ! Waha missssssing youuuuu
LMAO thank you for pointing that out, it was so distracting to me, idk why i didn't comment on it in the vid
Fun fact: Andy Hurley is also a tattooed vegan drummer (from Fall Out Boy). Not bald tho!
$22 for that much (healthy) food in LA is actually a deal these days lmao the Erewhon hot bar is low key not a bad deal. Their other vegan stuff like the lasagna (turmeric reg and also the eggplant one) is much better than that fake meat stuff.
Your Kardashian out take was hilarious.
all nasal
I didn’t know crossroads had Chikn and waffles!!!! and most restaurants charge $20+ these days
I think I just learned that I too have expensive taste because none of those prices felt outrageous lol (it’s important to note that I make a lower middle class income and live in the DC area so everything to me is expensive and therefore nothing is expensive, it’s just standard lol)
Try Billie Eilish’s diet. She’s been working out and probably looks for high protein things too
do you know of any interviews or places she's talked about her diet?
He owns crossroads kitchen and Kardashian’s sponsor impossible burger
That pizza looks like something someone would prepare in the midst of an alcohol binge, day 7
Do a Lewis Hamilton day!
Lol i guessed that the chicken breasts were 50$ or smth... I guess I am just crazy used to these expensive prices in Iceland 😢
All I kept thinking was...what investment does Travis have in this restaurant?! And then I saw the comments lol. I am a Blink fan from 1 million years ago so I have to love him but yes, tired (and not boring) was the correct phrase lol
Do you ever train core/abs? :)
Sorry to inform but Denny's pancakes in Costa Rica is more expensive
Short ribs taste like weird bread but you don't think it's seitan?
Oat milk w pea protein is officially discontinued. Sorry bout it
-Trader Joe’s employee
As someone who regularly spends $20-25 on door delivery, I honestly dont think these prices are that steep. Its more like once or twice a week treat than once a year birthday treat, and its not like im travis barker kinda wealthy, but its priorities.
My account is -$2 right now, I ain’t got money to not realize I’ve been spending $30+ on a mysterious subscription. Can’t afford to give away money to corporations like that. 🤷🏽♀️
That price would be a steal in New Zealand lol
Unfortunately $24 is pretty normal for gluten free vegan pizza and it is usually crap
I ate at crossroads and had the truffle dish, 60$+ I sent it back & they made me pay for it still. It was awful & tasted like butter noodles
Cool concept #SaveSoil 🍃🍃🍃
Merle i think your concealer is too green/yellow and too dark for your skin tone! I‘ve noticed it in another video that your eye area looked kinda off, now I can tell why. Tarte is a great choice though💖 nice video
not in a mean way at all but u need to swtich that concealer shade it's just reading too yellow !!
I can barely afford a bottle of water at Erewhon.
