Brandon, you made several comments in this video that indicate you believe switching ride modes has some effect on fuel economy- that switching to Tour will give you better mileage. This is not true. Switching ride modes simply changes how much throttle twist it takes to get the same response, i.e., the same amount of fuel to be injected into the cylinders. Tour Mode makes the bike less responsive to throttle input, while Sport Mode makes it more responsive. Assuming your riding style remains unchanged, the fuel economy will remain the same. Kind Regards-
Ah. My logic is sport mode keeps me from being a hooligan so I’m saving gas. I’m multiple times less likely to do stop light pulls on tour mode so it does change my riding habit/style. Thanks for educating me on the fueling. 👌🏾❤️
@@evil_musclemuscled3814 Because they each feel different and can change the riding style. Riding in Sport Mode all the time is fine but it’s borderline too much. Very easy to whiskey throttle. For new riders, it’s perfect and allows them to grow into the bike.
Sooo, Educator. Your're saying that you have the same level of power in sport mode that you have in touring mode. If you do..what would be the point of having the options? The option titles are suggestive as to what to expect in each mode??

That`s some crazy weather there. Oh rain tip. If you put Rain-X on your windshield when you know you will hit wet weather. It makes it easier to see. Great video. Stay safe and keep up the great work.
Great video. I can only do day ride's mostly. We like to go all day, stopping whenever, a bunch of times. No real destination just enjoy and try to go as far away as possible. Less than 300 miles is not enough. Our 10 day ride back in August was still not enough. Left stillwater NY to Pennsylvania Maryland west Virginia Virginia north Carolina Tennessee and back. All back roads. Loved every bit of that. 6 bikes 3 couples 3 old men. Can't wait for spring 2022. Let's go
Another great video man. As always I love how real your descriptions are. It certainly does suck to ride in the rain, but it's part of the process. If you really stopped for it every time, you'd never make it anywhere.

I don’t know how those that talk and ride the entire time get so many followers! They are boring. Keep up the great work. The Chief will be my next bike for sure. I will be going to Indian from a Yamaha FZ1, so it may be quite a shock and adjusting but I am getting old. Looking forward to your continuing efforts!!
I do this type of ride about 4 times per year. I have plans to do a cross country trip next year if it is possible at that time. To me, the Chief and the Harley version, the Heritage, are more for the 200-300 mile trips. The bigger bikes like the Challenger or the Harley Ultras or Road Glides are great on a 1700 mile trip.
Thanks for the feedback, brother. Longest trips I’ve done on the Chief Dark Horse so far are 200-300 something miles over a weekend. Hoping to make it to the Black Hills before it snows! I’m sorry to hear the Chief is gone! Looking forward to future content :)
Great video Brandon. A very balanced review of this amazing machine. Indian makes a great bike and reviews like this clearly will drive riders to the dealers and to demo rides. Nice work be friend!!

Really enjoyed this video. Love my Super Chief. Not the limited. You are right about the windshield. It needs just a little something more to help the buffeting. I've been able to ride mine to almost 200 miles before fill-up. It was angry with me. Suspension, I had to stretch out the shock to where there isn't much left for adjustment. It helped immensely on those bumps where it felt like you were about to launch off your seat. Shield does help in the rain. I'm your same height. I have also raised the bars just slightly has helped the shoulders. It looks like your bars were set high. I did that once and pinched the nerve between my left shoulder blade. Floorboards are awesome, though looking forward to getting the crash bars with highway pegs. Great video 👍
Thanks bro looking to get my Self a bike and your information has been really helpful I’m probably going to go with you Indian scout bobber thanks for your advice and suggestions keep up the great videos brother
160 miles per tank isn’t great ,but I’ve ridden w ppl that had to stop 50 miles before that. The 4 gallon tank is something that turns me off w the “new” Chief. One thing I do when on long rides is stop whenever I fkn feel like it, unless I’m hammering down cause I’m late, I don’t get mad if someone needs to stop. Injuries cause me to lose feeling in my hands & arms if I can’t shake it out. I also broke my coccyx (buttbone) in ‘96 so I squirm on the seat. Haven’t found a seat yet that I won’t have discomfort at some point. Also if u start doing long trip you will become very creative packing saddlebags. U will be surprised how much u can get in one. Sissy bar bags are an absolute too. Good review cuz, keep it on 2 wheels & hope to see u out there! “Edit” sorry I see now that you do long rides so u know how sh!, goes. First time I’ve seen your vids
I'm late to the comments but just got done with my first solo trip from central Florida to central Wisconsin and back Indian cheftain DH . And pulled 750 mile days and what a beating with the OEM seat at 54yrs old i need comfort.. my bike did great tho and I did have some problems with the nav. Also took me straight into the not so good side of Chicago and trust me I found my way out FAST🤪 great video bro... and keep on keeping on..
"Suspension was good until we got to Shreveport Louisiana. Roads are trash there." 😂😂. I feel that on a personal level. I live in south Louisiana. The roads are trash pretty much all over this state unfortunately.
Awesome video as always, Brandon. Good, honest info. I like that you kept it real with the flaws and didn't just hype it up because Indian loaned it to you
Always. Couldn't have gotten more real than how I wanted to rip the nav off and toss it down the highway. 🙃 Even with the flaws, there's a way to offer criticism and still be fair. That's what makes it better.
It took me 10 hours to do 420 mi on my little rebel 300 in one day. Not the most comfortable bike for such a trip and hence the reason why it took so long. I've been eyeing an Indian for my upgrade. Maybe someday. :)
@@BrandonBicasso love it man. I don’t mind long videos. I try to keep mine short, but they end up either being 10 minutes or 30 minutes. Looks like a great trip ! I have problems with the gas gauge on my '19 FTR1200 S ,also. With a full tank, it gives a range of 140 plus miles, then drops rapidly to 100, then starts to decline normally from there. Can't trust it. That rain looked nasty ! Nothing worse that having rain gear, and not putting it on until you're soaked ! Happened every time we rode west from Iowa to the Black Hills in SD. Nice report with some good friends and family !

I’ve watched this video several times and was on the fence about Indian. However, now I’m very open to the idea of getting one. I’m thinking Challenger 😅 Thanks for the excellent content Brandon
Thank you Brandon! The problem with the Software is exactly what I was afraid of! Don't know if a wait because of it would pay off. Paying for a 18k euro bike and then have it not work properly would be annoying!
Yeah, but software can be fixed. Common with Gen 1 products. I made sure to mention that so people would know that going into a purchase. It will get better, though.
Excellent review! I am considering the Super Chief to be my next bike. Your review will help in making that decision. I hate riding in the rain. I'd rather ride in cold weather than in the rain! lol It looks like you really enjoyed yourself on that trip. Thanks!
I’ve been hit by rain like that. Next time if you don’t want to take full rain gear, search for a Tractor Supply and buy those oil field rain gear. They always hav them in 3-4XL and they fit over my armored riding gear.
I ride with Advil in my jacket or panniers for those long day in the saddle (typically 1000 miles) days. In my case the ergonomics on my bike (Africa Twin) are perfect for me so I don't get the shoulder fatigue, but my lower back, after 6 or 7 hours, starts to get unhappy. I gotta work on improving my core strength. Mine can go about 200 miles between fillups but whiskey throttle makes it 150.
Awesome video! Wish y’all had more dry days, but looks like the trip was more than worth it. That BMW though…not sure if it will be good on a long trip, but it sure does look the part.
I enjoy making miles on my H-D Heritage Softail. That Indian looks tremendous. Love to try my normal 300 plus each way 300 mile weekends on one. I know where my gas stations are at each 150ish. Praise Chevron for maps.
Gate video as always!! Ps a very good life hack on a bike with riding modes once you get low on fuel swich to rain mode (I call it eco mode on my Moto Guzzi California Audace 1400) cause normaly rain mode cuts power (on my bike the power is reduced by 1/3 compared to sport mode) plus the throttle is very muted it helps again with fuel economy. My Audace has 20.5 liters of fuel capacity. In sport mode beimg on it will get 140-150 miles from a tank. Putting my bike in rain mode(eco mode as I said) i will get 160-200miles from a tank! Also 56mph(90km/h) is the golden speed for economy riding! Where the speed to air friction is at the lowest. Thay means it is the highest speed at which the friction of the air still doesn't effect fuel consumption badly!!
Brandon, I don't know about your neck of the woods, but in North West Ireland, rain is part of the furniture over here. If it's forecast, the rain gear goes on as a precaution🤣
Over 6ft and even the biggest windshield on the chief leaves you with major buffeting above 35mph to the point that having no wind shield works better if you can hold on for how ever many hours over 80sh mph. Fork mounted wind deflectors seem to work best in combo with a freedom shield but it's still noticable tho not as much a brain rattle over 70mph.
Yep. That buffeting is something most probably don't experience on test rides, but at least it can be fixed. Not isolated to Indian, but just a nature of windshields.
Hahaha! The roads around Shreveport, LA are about as bad as it gets except some places in CA. My new cruiser is a KLR 650. No problem in Shreveport. 13" of suspension travel on both ends and a 6 gallon tank, so almost 250 miles between fill ups. 50 hp, relaxed seating position, nice seat. You were about a 2 hour ride from me, wished I had known. Would love to meet you in person.
@@BrandonBicasso Her bike is almost done but she will probably need more surgeries to be able to ride again. At a speed of almost 0 a wreck can really hurt a person on a bike, no matter who is at fault. So I have always ridden with the philosophy that I am always at fault. Her spirits are good, bringing her bike back home should help.
Glad you had fun, that looks great and like an awesome accomplishment. I gotta find a way to join some of yall some day. Riding with cool peeps on a long trek would be fun. Gotta throw some shade tho...37~42mpg.... Ouch... I mean... That's way lower than I thought. The M8 softails are getting above 45mpg and up to 50 even with stage 2 upgrades. Sad to see the bike go though, sounds like you loved it. Hey indian... this guy right here... you know he doing work for ya. Maybe toss him that bike back for good? eh? EH!?
I spent a few years in Shreveport and the roads there are every bit as bad as he says lol one of the main intersections around Airline Dr. was just straight up not even a road for the better part of a year while they fumbled with construction
i like the near gooseneck frame style and the fact that its a true air cooled engine but i think the heritage has it beat with a plusher ride and better fit/finish and you sit in th heritage and sit on the chief.
@@BrandonBicasso Indian engine might be better quality than the Harley engine. Surprised Indian didn't go with a quality single rear shock which i think is probably better than those two low angled spring shocks.

This is hands down one of my best made videos in my opinion. Story-telling combined with the review was 🤟🏾
@@BrandonBicasso I’m ready for a review on the Indian Pursuit Dark Horse 🏍
Thank you, and greetings from Australia.
Hey there!
@@BrandonBicasso g’day mate.
That looked like an awesome time! Thanks for sharing!
It was! Hope you're doing well, Charles!
Oh, and the hardest rain 🌧 I’ve ever been through in my life was 6” in one hour in north Texas. Was in a VW bus, thankfully not on a bike.
Excellent review! I am considering the Super Chief to be my next bike. Your review will help in making that decision. I hate riding in the rain. I'd rather ride in cold weather than in the rain! lol It looks like you really enjoyed yourself on that trip. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it. 💪🏾
Can’t believe you actually trust the gas gauge, I have a Victory and learned not to trust that gas gauge, thanks for sharing your experience
😂, I probably shouldn’t have.
I enjoyed your review. I've experienced everything you mentioned and made the same decisions! Ride safe!
Thank you! 🙏🏾
I’ve been hit by rain like that. Next time if you don’t want to take full rain gear, search for a Tractor Supply and buy those oil field rain gear. They always hav them in 3-4XL and they fit over my armored riding gear.
Great video! Loved the content! Keep up the good work!
Excellent review.. thank you!
First of your vlogs i've seen, really enjoyed it.
Thank you!
Awesome review! Keep them coming!!
Another great video Brandon. "Big Cheeto". Awesome😆
BIG CHEETTOO!
@@BrandonBicasso you ever come to Miami give me a shout
Awesome video man, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching 💪🏾
I ride with Advil in my jacket or panniers for those long day in the saddle (typically 1000 miles) days. In my case the ergonomics on my bike (Africa Twin) are perfect for me so I don't get the shoulder fatigue, but my lower back, after 6 or 7 hours, starts to get unhappy. I gotta work on improving my core strength.
Mine can go about 200 miles between fillups but whiskey throttle makes it 150.
Interesting. We all get fatigue in different ways. I stretch often now to help with it.
Awesome video! Wish y’all had more dry days, but looks like the trip was more than worth it. That BMW though…not sure if it will be good on a long trip, but it sure does look the part.
Yeah, lot of wet, lol.
I enjoy making miles on my H-D Heritage Softail. That Indian looks tremendous. Love to try my normal 300 plus each way 300 mile weekends on one. I know where my gas stations are at each 150ish. Praise Chevron for maps.
Chevron like Chevy... runs deep!
Another great video sir thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for this review! So helpful!
Thanks for watching 🤟🏾
@@BrandonBicasso I love your channel bro!
Brandon, I don't know about your neck of the woods, but in North West Ireland, rain is part of the furniture over here. If it's forecast, the rain gear goes on as a precaution🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Over 6ft and even the biggest windshield on the chief leaves you with major buffeting above 35mph to the point that having no wind shield works better if you can hold on for how ever many hours over 80sh mph. Fork mounted wind deflectors seem to work best in combo with a freedom shield but it's still noticable tho not as much a brain rattle over 70mph.
Yep. That buffeting is something most probably don't experience on test rides, but at least it can be fixed. Not isolated to Indian, but just a nature of windshields.
That Vic looks like it will bite and leave a big welt.
Looks like a great trip. Thanks for sharing
You bet
Good video. Thx for sharing it.
Great video. Very personable. Given the amount of rain that you had, how do those saddlebags hold up? Anything get wet?
Nothing got wet 😎
Lol, those long stints are so much better with more suspension travel 😂👏🏾. Also, how’s the the wife? I hope she’s doing well.
@@BrandonBicasso
Her bike is almost done but she will probably need more surgeries to be able to ride again. At a speed of almost 0 a wreck can really hurt a person on a bike, no matter who is at fault. So I have always ridden with the philosophy that I am always at fault. Her spirits are good, bringing her bike back home should help.
Always a great video you are definitely my favorite motovlogger
Thank you Brother!
Cool vid mate , lovely bike but I’ll keep my heritage for now 👍👍🏴🏴🏴
Great review
😎🙏
Glad you had fun, that looks great and like an awesome accomplishment.
I gotta find a way to join some of yall some day. Riding with cool peeps on a long trek would be fun.
Gotta throw some shade tho...37~42mpg.... Ouch... I mean... That's way lower than I thought.
The M8 softails are getting above 45mpg and up to 50 even with stage 2 upgrades.
Sad to see the bike go though, sounds like you loved it. Hey indian... this guy right here... you know he doing work for ya. Maybe toss him that bike back for good? eh? EH!?
😅, they don’t want me long term. It’ll get 45-50mph but you’d have to chill out to around 65-70.
“Then I almost ran out of gas… again…” I relate all too well to this 😂
😅🤙🏾 It happens so fast.
I spent a few years in Shreveport and the roads there are every bit as bad as he says lol one of the main intersections around Airline Dr. was just straight up not even a road for the better part of a year while they fumbled with construction
Welp I’ve just subscribed. Thanks for the amazing video 💪🏿💪🏿. Stay safe🥂
Thank you and welcome!
Great video Brandon,, onto you via ride with two Indians.. cheers from downunder.
Hey there!
@@BrandonBicasso Gidday mate. Keep the good work going.. will take me awhile to view your backlog lol.
Outstanding real world video.
That’s the goal!
i like the near gooseneck frame style and the fact that its a true air cooled engine but i think the heritage has it beat with a plusher ride and better fit/finish and you sit in th heritage and sit on the chief.
That's fair. More options 😎
@@BrandonBicasso Indian engine might be better quality than the Harley engine. Surprised Indian didn't go with a quality single rear shock which i think is probably better than those two low angled spring shocks.
Yoooooo, love your videos and honest reviews. Let's ride sometime if you come close to Louisville, KY!! Holler if you do.
For sure!
