This is quite possibly the best video that could exist on this bike. Knowledgeable, honest and very well put together. I appreciate the hard work and time this took to make. Well done, Brandon Bicasso 💪🏽💪🏽
Brandon, this video may have taken you awhile but it is the best and most deliberate coverage of all the details on this bike. You're part of the reason I returned to a Indian and actually bought one of these. I've got a ICON Sport coming. I think you're starting to see how you building those bikes has allowed you to see the small details and how they come together to provide the overall experience. Effectively, you see the full picture and not just from the rider or the builder. That's a big leg up on others that choose to review this bike.
Been silently watching you for a few months. Figure it's time to say you're doing a wonderful job on these videos and i love the indian motorcycle reviews. You're going to be the reason i drop 20k+ on a new bike this summer lol
I've been riding for 45 years and a few miles. My dad rode Indians. Ive had a variety.. However, on a 4th HD (Night Rod) at present. You are one of the best I've seen regarding the latest version of Indian Motocycles. I think you do a top notch job and are one of the best I've seen on here in a sea of so called motorcycle experts. One dude went off on hating HD so much, it was like the factory had singled him out to fuck him over. Another sidewalk commando who grows a beard and gets a grave like voice to portray balls or manhood or both? No idea. Motorcycling is good with more choices to please (nearly) everybody. I like it that the new Indian is an underdog even though Polaris is not a small company. HD had AMF, and, finally, Indian has theirs after going though a host of other owners of the proud marque. I will be viewing your videos asap. Thanks man!!
as a old bike restorer, i like that new indians come w/ all round tubing frames. makes them look timeless and can see them being restored 50-60 years from now as classics. Harleys after the 80's frames look like abominations w/ Square Tube sections, and random tubing diameters and butt welds.
Listen... Peg scraping is fun. I used to drag food boards to make sparks at night going around corners in downtown Oklahoma City. You're absolutely right.
It is the best video I have found on the Sport Chief. I hesitate between purchasing a Low Rider ST or the Sport Chief, here in Spain, there are not many Sport Chiefs and it is very difficult to find comparisons that describe the motorcycle so well, so thank you very much for the video, it has helped me clear up several doubts that I had. about it, thank you very much!!!
This channel made me convince my Ducati Monster riding friend and I to hit the Indian Dealership here in Brisbane Australia. We went with the intention of checking out the Scout and primarily the Chief (any chief would have been fine). Unfortunately for us, the dealer had 0 chiefs of any kind as apparently the dealership can't even get their hands on them due to the pre-orders by consumers taking precedence! Both my friend and I were extremely disappointed in Scout compared to our existing bikes in the similar price point, but understand it's the entry level bike. I would have loved to have ridden a Chief but ended up buying a Harley Sport Glide which I am in love with. Still room in the stable for a Sport Chief in the future when Indian Dealerships in my city get their act together! Until then, living vicariously through you all!
@@DanielPeters-ji2pe Check out Fitzroy Motorcycles in Melbourne. Not only are they a licensed Indian dealership they also have available a service department dedicated to offer factory upgrades with ECU remaps and cam upgrades. The combination (inclusive of exhaust upgrades to match the tune) will see the entire Indian range run significantly better and at a reduced temperature. Stock availability doesn’t seem to be a problem either and they can work with interstate buyers as per what a friend has told me. Good luck.
I really like your mechanical angle on bikes, their weaknesses, design faults and how difficult they are to repair. Your enthusiasm and knowledge is second to none. A big thank you from london uk.
Brandon, I have the same gauge system in my Polaris snowmobile (Ride Command). When you first start the sled it takes it a minute to figure out wear it is at. Especially when you are in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan riding. Great honest review. Looking to get bike next year once the snowmobile is paid off. Appreciate you taking your time for the review
Really great review. So well articulated, edited, and clear. Very well done mate! Leaning toward an Indian Sport Chief myself and this review covered all the bases! Thank you for your work.

Thanks for doing such an in depth review of the sport! It's refreshing to watch a video about a bike without it being just a bunch of comparisons of another brand, or nit picking and complaining about it. The sport chief is quite the looker, but as you showed, it's quite the rider as well!
The tubular frame with sleeve-joints is #MasterClass in design, the flow of the S line and classic look, the rear shock flowing with the line of the frame is pure beauty. My favorite part is now getting the option for risers on the regular Chief. It might be just enough to get me to upgrade from the Scout. I'm too old to care about the other amenities that come with the Sport. 😁
Def a more compelling reason to get one. Accessories have been a weak point for Indian. It’s getting better and having these parts interchangeable is a win.
Been looking at this bike for a minute. I ride a 2014 Victory Vision. I love it and I'm keeping. I enjoy having my wife of 44 years on the back of my bike and the Vision is the ultimate 2-up touring bike IMO. It's actually a cousin to the Indian. But I'm going to order the Chief Sport for my everyday ride. Watched a couple of your videos and that sealed my decision.
Lol, yeah dude, that engine looks sick. Like how you left it sitting in frame the whole time during the garage convo bits. I zoomed in on it couple times to check it out.
I had a Judge 12 years ago, this scrape sound is pretty normal and easy to do. I had an FJR with ABS once. I felt it kick in one time once when it was a wet street, I was coasting down to a stop anyway down a short hill. It feels really weird. That is the only time I've ever experienced ABS on a MC.
Absolutely love the thorough, objective coverage of the bike! While this doens't take away from my desire for an Indian Challenger, it sure does make me want to ride one some day! That "oh shiet," going over the cow stop was hilarious, and I may have chortled more than was probably needed 😆
I'm 5'6" so the stock handlebars would be a stretch for me. Hopefully they make some bars with a 4" pullback and cable, brake line kit for the bike that would put the bars closer to the rider. That would make it a consideration for me.
Well I'm happy to say that I have mine! Honestly have wanted a chief for so long after watching brandon's videos and knowing it was the bike for me. It's been an amazing upgrade so far!
Thank you! I've been a fan of your channel for a while because of how in depth and thoughtful you are with your commentary. I'm having the hardest time trying to decide on my next bike lol, and this is one of the three I'm considering. I'm thinking Low Rider ST (most $, but set up from the factory to be able to do long miles comfortably), a used Harley Sport Glide with low miles (cheapest on my list depending on the deals I can find, but missing quality features like dual disc brakes), and then there's obviously the Sport Chief (less than the ST but maybe more than a Sport Glide, but on the upside I wouldn't have to go to a Harley dealership and get swarmed by salesmen lol, plus the Sport Chief gets more style points in my opinion). Still don't know what I'll go with, but I appreciate this video for helping me see the perks of this one. Keep up the quality content sir!
Blockhead is a Super Troll lol. Kool vid. I still dig the indian line. The only things which tend to turn me off are the sharp edges, too blocky on the fairing and to be just a bit more "beefier."
Just got one at my dealership in KY. Luv the set up front forks & the dual front brakes. Indian's take on the Cali/Dyna/SOA type bike to the masses. Not for me, but it should be a hot seller. Surprisingly, they didn't make the JD bike out of this bike vs a regular Chief.
Amazing ride, super comftable (I am a beginner and did not felt intimidated). The digital screen looks so nice, but most times was useless, I just wanted to gave up on trying to connect my mobile or setting up a route. Navigation was painfully slow, missed a few turns because of the delayed update route (after I`ve managed to set it up: the keyboard has a back/cancel button on the left side which can be easely pressed by mistake...so you need to start over...really some UX testing would change and improve a lot). The price it`s quite high so I do have high expectations. A reverse gear option would be nice too (found myself couple of times on narrow roads and had to rourn around, was challenging with the weight and road inclination but did managed since I am a big guy, nevertheless a smaller person most likely would not be able to push it). Overall an awesome machine but still needs a little refining to match the price.
Wow fabulous review. Nothing like someone who knows their stuff reviewing. Very entertaining I am testing the sport cheif tomorrow and this has helped me thank you.
Good video. Like your work on the frame and the motor, not too much out there for viewers yet. I have a chief classic and most all the work on it. I've used some of the information you've posted. Thanks, I appreciate it very much.
Great review! How would you compare this to the Suzuki M109R BOSS? The Harley Fat Bob or Breakout 114? I mean in regards to power, responsiveness and torque? What about nimbleness compared to Fat Bob or Lowrider series? Thank you!
Eh, 109 weighs 100 pounds more so Chief will come out strong until maybe 75. Top end on the 109 will kick in but I’d say they’re comparable at start. Not enough experience on the M8s to compare.
Totally enjoyed your video. Your video of the 22 chief helped me decide on getting the bike. I wanted dual disk since I've found myself a few times not being able to stop as quickly as I like but I've learned to utilize the downshifting to assist. Knowing that the dual disks bites pretty hard makes me think the single disk isn't all that bad. I did get the syndicate seat for my 22 and have to say it's amazing.
@@BrandonBicasso I'm in a tractor trailer all year. Gotta learn to ride first. There's no Indian dealers near me, would have to travel a ways, but worth it to be different.
I finally got my Öhlins shocks. They are amazing. Very curious how they compare to the fox shocks. Import process was a little frustrating but before you throw your money at the fox shocks consider ohlins. If only they had forks….
Polaris has been playing with this idea ever since 2000 when they introduced the Victory V92 Sport Cruiser which was a very capable motorcycle. I think the V92 SC was more capable in the twisties that the Sport Chief. Good to see that the guys at Polaris don't let a good idea go to waste.
One thing that I kinda wish they did that my friend mentioned to make the sport chief actually more sporty like was put The Challenger engine in it. I feel like they missed out on a crazy opportunity to throw that in their if they were able to and it’d make it way more popular. But at the same time, it would take away from the chief’s/classic cruisers bread and butter of having the air cooled engine in it. Oh well, maybe someone out there will take on that project and make it work.
Although i love to customize anything i own that is mechanical, I've been waiting on someone to make a bike that i call "turnkey happy." This one is soooo close with their current offerings. I have less gripes about the sport chief than say the scout rogue. My boss owns a rogue and we did a 240 rear tire swap just to make that bike look right. Id like to see a different rear fender, change grips, exhaust and all that little subjective stuff. Overall its an amazing start
Fantastic review, you really told its story ot just from a technical stand point.but an emotional one. You can tell when people really love riding and love bikes. Can’t wait for you next one.👍😊
Hey Brandon, really enjoyed this video. Your videos seem to be getting better and better. Your content is great. However, watching made me still glad I got my Bobber and have a blast personalizing it. That Red did look great under you though! I am a shorter rider…5’6” and maybe that’s why I’m loving my Bobber. But that’s of no importance. Just preference.Anyway, gonna sit and enjoy your follow up video. Keepem coming and take care Fam!!!!!
That's a matter of sitting on each and figuring if you're comfortable on it. Also consider the power each bike has because it's pulling you both around and up/down hills. Brakes are also a factor too. You will want dual disc.
Thanks Brandon. I haven't found anyone who is so knowledgeable and is able to communicate so well, in the way you do. Almost all of my questions answered. I would LOVE to see Indian make a statement though and make this bike MORE performance oriented, particulalry given the competetion. Thinking particularly about that ugly standard air intake. Give us the performance intake as standard please Indian, AND give us the option to add passenger pad & pegs!
Hey Brandon.....thanks for the great video. I live in Austin and buying myself a new motorcycle next month for my 62nd birthday. I have owned 4 harleys in my life the last bike was a Street Glide I sold 15 years ago so it's been a while since I have been on a bike. I LOVE power & Torque and amd curious how you would compare this bike to the new 101 Scout? I am also digging the new Harley Low Rider with the 117 engine. All I know is I do not want a heavy 825 bagger as longer rides no longer excite me. What do you think would be the best bang for the buck? What I like about the 101 scout is it's low weight. But knowing the Sport Chief has a heftier engine I am torn as to what bike to buy. Any thoughts? Thanks again for the video and be safe my friend.
Scout / Chief is either liquid cooled or air. Two different engine characters. They ride different so I would try both back to back if you can. They deliver power differently. Chief dies off fast but has the torque for good pulls. Scout is gonna have some of it low but carries out through mid to high. It will continue pulling because of the higher redline. Depends a lot on the type of riding you’re doing and the type of character you want from the engine also. Consider your size and height. Scout is capable for a lot of height ranges but Chief still feels a tad bit bigger so that could be a factor too. Indian made it tough to pick for a lot of people but I would start at the type of engine I’d want.
The consistent improvement in production quality is becoming more and morenoticeable. I don't know if it's a new camera, or new editing software, or what... but whatever it is, keep it up brother
As a guy who grew up in central California, I think the problems with cattle guards are, the engineers that designed the road have nothing to do with it. Usually the guard is installed by a rancher or land owner, to stop their cattle from using the road as a point to leave the pasture or property boundary. The issue then becomes, how skilled were the workers who installed it, at setting it low enough to make it even with the road they just cut into? How well is the pavement laid down that connects the road to the guard? Seems to me, some guy just rents a backhoe, digs a 5 foot wide hole across a road, drops in a cattle guard, then lays down some asphalt to smooth the connection on either side to the original road, then pats it down with his feet and walks off! Not enjoyable on a bike. Not at 7 mph. Not at 50 mph 😕.
The thing about being the “classic “ rider is that sometimes you try to count the cylinder explosions while riding at freeway speeds! Where’s my calculator!🤣👍😎
I like this just... wish the tech was an option. yes, I am a computer person who uses a desktop for graphic arts.. really do not want it on my two wheels when I am in the wind. thats just me. I like the 111 standard chief because of that & wish the 116 was a choice. I may pick up 2023 H-D standard soft tail if the dealer will put dragbars on her, but thanks to your videos I still will look at the 2023 chief. Truth be told the 2023 Breakout is what I want but this is a cash deal and not trading in my 2018 Kawasaki Zed 900 and i refuse to finance. Thank for this review.
Growing up in Texas, the cattle guards are to keep the cows from getting out of the pasture. Nice video by the way! I miss my 2011 Victory Jackpot. Now I’m thinking of getting one of these Chiefs.

I ride a 2013 dyna fatbob and I love my dyna but the sport chief has mY attention
Nun wrong with that Fam.
When you powder coat motors like that it retains a lot more heat. But you're doing a hell of a job on those bikes.
Keep up the quality content sir!
that was a fantastic video. appreciate it and you for making it. what a great bike.
Solid video, the best of this media ride yet, you did an outstanding job of articulating your opinion and the reasons behind them. Thank you.
Glad you got value from it. 💪🏾
Blockhead is a Super Troll lol. Kool vid. I still dig the indian line. The only things which tend to turn me off are the sharp edges, too blocky on the fairing and to be just a bit more "beefier."
Very good editing on this video: good style.
Really good information and opinions expressed here.
Great review Brandon. Thank you for all the effort you put into this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for your effort, top infos, keep up the good works mate!
Enjoy!
Good video. Like your work on the frame and the motor, not too much out there for viewers yet. I have a chief classic and most all the work on it. I've used some of the information you've posted. Thanks, I appreciate it very much.
Question, sir, do you think a 200 rear end will fit on the back rim?
It does.
Nice review and insight. Thank you. Which exhaust do you recommend that is load enough without having your neighbour’s hating you.
Indian Stage 1 exhaust. Flows with the lines of the bike too. I run a 2 in 1 and it’s uhh… wake the dead loud. 🌚
It seems that you really like Indian bikes. That is cool.
I like that bike. I want the Chieftain Dark Horse gloss black with stretched bags with exhaust cutouts,(I would by that bike yesterday)
Def should test ride one and see what it’s about ✌🏾
@@BrandonBicasso I'm in a tractor trailer all year.
Heck yeah. 🙌🏾
Pretty good detailed review, Brandon. As always, fair and impartial. 👍
Much appreciated! 👌🏾
Can somebody explain to me, what is "sport" on this (and the alternatives from HD, Buell, etc.) moto?
Officially goated 🐐
🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾
Thank you for such a great in-depth review
Thanks for watching ✌🏾
Polaris has been playing with this idea ever since 2000 when they introduced the Victory V92 Sport Cruiser which was a very capable motorcycle. I think the V92 SC was more capable in the twisties that the Sport Chief. Good to see that the guys at Polaris don't let a good idea go to waste.
When can we get the challenger engine liquid cooled with this set up?
No idea. What would be the ideal set up?
@@BrandonBicasso a super cruiser from a company that may not be out of business in 2025.
Aka liquid cooled 150+hp club bike!!!!
Did they changed the gearing at all?
Wish also updated the handle bars to accept bar end mirrors!
Nah, same gearing.
That and it would’ve required a separate frame.
Like how you present the product!
Fantastic review, you really told its story ot just from a technical stand point.but an emotional one. You can tell when people really love riding and love bikes. Can’t wait for you next one.👍😊
Any videos on your rebuild of your Chief Darkhorse?
Here's the playlist for it.

Very thorough review. Thanks👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
The control housings are huge !
Still trying to figure out if this is a good first bike for me. 320lbs and have my endorsement. Guys at the dealership say the scout might be to small
Found your Channel again, nice to see things are well on your end. Nice work. I see you stole my look👀
What look 👀
Will do 😅👌🏾
As a guy who grew up in central California, I think the problems with cattle guards are, the engineers that designed the road have nothing to do with it.
Yeah, it didn’t help that I rode over it at 50mph or whatever the speed was 😂
So what if you want to do both , sport and travel, no luggage for this one ?
Throw the Super Chief bags on it.
Great video. Of all the bikes in your garage I didn't see the m109r. You still have it and enjoy riding it?
Yes, it’s stored away at another location.
Awesome video! Which Victory would this bike be closest to? Anything Polaris put into these that reminded you of their long, lost brand?
The thing about being the “classic “ rider is that sometimes you try to count the cylinder explosions while riding at freeway speeds! Where’s my calculator!🤣👍😎
GR8 video would love your opinion on a Sport Chief vs Low Rider S
There were at least 10 of those things. hah
@@BrandonBicasso when I was a kid, we use to bunny hop those on our bikes
Sehr schönes Video 👍
Danke für deine Mühe 😇
Great all around review of the Sport Chief
Very nice video Brandon!
