This is exactly the video I needed! I'm looking at getting a Peli for my FM9 and wasn't sure what size I wanted. Great to see how you fit the EV-1 in too, I love the size and feel of them and wasn't sure if I'd have to rock the EV-2 in exchange for convenience. Thankyou for posting this man!
Looks rock solid 👍 For my FM9, I went with the line6 backpack for the Helix. Not a perfect fit, but easy to carry, well protected with plenty of space for pedals, cables and stuff.
The Helix floor bag works great for local gigging. It nicely fits all needed cables + spares. It also fits an expression pedal and more. I migrated from the Helix to Fractal, so it was an easy way to go, but I would recommend buying one. This plus a backpack guitar bag and Fender FR-12 makes for a nice one load gig setup. Unless you need a hard case… the Helix bag is optimal.
I’m a big fan of the Pelican cases. You’ve got this one set up perfectly. 🥂 If I was in need of a hardshell I’d be all over it. Such is not the case (pun intended). I went with a well padded softshell made by Studio Slips. Spent a bit more for the extras. Pricey but they’re excellent. Lots of room in the pouch for the essentials and extras. Perfect for the subway or back seat/trunk of the car.
I went with the Gator transit series case 24"x12" for my FM9. I place foam inside on top of it. I wanted something with a strap to sling over my shoulder. I don't tour, but I gig occasionally.
I want to run two preamps out a multifx into two power amps and 4x12 cabs So one 4x12 is one pre amp and the other is another. Does the fm9 or helix or both do this?
Both could accommodate that rig. FM9 would have more horsepower and be potentially easier for the routing IMO. Each amp pre to a dedicated out, bonus to setting the input for each amp to left and right for stereo FX before the amp, FX after the amp would work as well.
Been enjoying your vids. My Axe3 fly rig is Identical to yours from a wireless standpoint. The past year I have been moving into the FM9. I haven't bought a case yet but gigs start in May so time to get on it. Then I see in your case the XVive, and lo and behold thats what I have as well for small rigs. But then we got to the in ears. You showed your in ear box, BUT, what do you use for your wireless in ear unit for the FM9 when flying? That, after all my blabbing is what I am after. Your FM9 rig doesn't have a spot for the PSM900, or maybe you use something different. Or maybe you said so and I missed it? Thanks, great stuff you are doing!
We sound like kindred spirits! Typically, I'm bringing my FM9 to gigs where I have wireless ears provided so I only need my in-ears. If I needed to bring my PSM900, I'd probably remove one of the expression pedals to make room in the bottom. I've been thinking of creating multiple foam inserts to accommodate different gear in the bottom. Thanks for watching!
You should hit that foam with a light coat of Plasti-Dip spray. It will rubberize it, and basically meld into one piece, so that it wont start coming apart over time. I have the Evergreen Seahorse 920 - basically the same size as your pelican, but with wheels.

I actually did that too! Really like the backpack format, helix backpack is well make and cheap enough

Was thinking about hitting it with some glue but this sounds way better. Thanks for the tip!!
