its so cool that you also show these "getting skunked" videos. even more motivating than seing sb catching fish after fish after fish when reality can be very different sometimes with those fussy creatures. Cheers

@@chrisblevinsfishing not hard to get through tons of good info. I just watched again and noticed a couple of things I had questions about. 1. How come your reels aren't completely full of line? 2. Do you run straight mono on your jigging rod, and if so do you also use flat falls with that set up?

Thanks a lot! Hopefully I can get everything dialed and go try for a yellow tail this summer, I fish the bays a lot but haven’t tried La Jolla yet its pretty intimidating, my hobie is much older and not as stable as the new ones, but that’s just my excuse haha

I always pull the fins up before landing and use the paddle to steer.

Thanks for the info here. When using your reverse dropper loop setup, do you drop to the bottom, crank off the bottom, or does it depend on what the bottom looks like/depth?
Most of the time I’m watching it fall on the sonar and setting it right to the depth that I see marks. But yes, for rev dropper loop I will drop till you hit the bottom then wind up a couple few cranks to be suspended up off the bottom. You can do bottom bouncing with rev DL if you have a fast drift or super slow troll.

Why not use the rod tubes for securing for surf transit? Have you broke a tip, or popped a ceramic ring from placing them in the tubes? I have, but since I wrap my own, it's not as big of a deal, I prefer having them down as opposed to the chance of them snapping if one turtles.
I havent flipped the PA yet. I'm more worried about keeping the reels dry than protecting the rods. So placing them behind me and up keep the reels more dry. If the rods are in the tubes and you are taking waves in the lap, your reels are dust. Thanks for watching KFA!

The best part of this video is when you kept the cut line in the boat and not thrown in the ocean, you dont know how much this bugs me when I see people do this with fishing line, cigarettes, etc. Thank you for not only sharing such a super great video but for also respecting God’s creation and for the creatures in it.

Another great video! Really appreciate your tips. Would love to hear how you search for bait. I’ve always stopped by the kelp first to load up on what I’ve been told is Scad Mackerel. I then go on the hunt for greenbacks while dragging a Carolina rig on the bottom. However, I have not yet been able to find them. Are you chasing birds to find the greenbacks?
And BTW, nice recovery. I’m heading off to Minnesota in the morning to do some walleye fishing, otherwise I’d be out in the kelp this weekend.
Great video. So the main 3 rigs you take out are the reverse dropper, surface iron, and yoyo iron? Any other must haves? I don't want to take too many due to the launch/landing. I dumped it last season. :)

Generally you don't want to dismount the kayak on the beach side if you get turned sideways like that on the landing, it can get pushed over you and you can get injured. Try jumping in on the side towards open water.
