    You definitely interviewed the right guy! I've fished with Danny for 50 years and am still amazed at his lure knowledge and ability to put fish on the boat while everyone else is standing by watching it happen. Interview him again about recognizing what the fish are doing and how to fish them under different conditions. I've seen that knowledge make a huge difference when I've fished with him.

      Definitely agree with this..I'd be curious to know visually how he's recognizing how the fish are behaving and what are some of the skills or tricks he's acquired about how to fish different conditions with an iron.

    Practice is the key! Could not agree more. I recently had the opportunity to recently fish with these two gentlemen tossing the iron and everything Dan said was fact! Thanks Jared for the opportunity!

    Do 9 and 10 ft surf rods and conventionals like the Fathom 15 work well for surface irons?

    Great insight in this video. Looking for good swimming jigs seems like a thing of the past for me with modern jig makers. I'd rather pay a bit more for a guaranteed swimmer than buying a handful of jigs, testing them out and finding the ones that swim correctly.
    I got a question for you guys. How would he quickly strip off line a couple times a day on a boat. Do long range boats have a line machine on board? Or does he have a spare reel like a penn senator that he winds the old line on?

      @jonathanuriarte3946 4 роки тому

      Anotherflores91 I think he only strips the top shot which is 40lb mono. And that’s only 150yds.

    what size surface iron he recommend for fishing Stripers on the beach? Your crazy neighbors from the SF bay area are always looking for new things to throw.

      Michael, though I live in SoCal and have for quite some time, I grew up back East in NY. I go every year in the Fall and surf fish for stipers. Over the years, I've brought surface irons with me and caught a lot of stripers and blues on them. Straight white, blue and white, yellow... were the colors that worked best. I threw them on the same 9ft jig stix I throw here in Cali. I like Tady 45's and the Tady C as well. Recently, I got some STEEL baits and those things are amazing. Stripers will eat iron. Throw em!!!
