I’ve been doing the RP knot (Improved Albright Knot) for my braid to mono/fluoro connection for years. And the Surgeons knot for about a year for mono to fluoro, but this Seaguar knot is definitely going to be replacing the Surgeons knot for me from here on!
Cesar is my Obi Wan Tuna Jedi master. Thanks for another great “fishing academy” video. I always wanted to learn how to properly shoulder hook a fish. 🤙🏼
I just wanted to say thank you, you have helped me expand my fishing knowledge. When I tell my friends about your videos they look up your channel and expect a normal dude who films his fishing. No, you help teach me and others about how to catch fish. And even though I’m just a kid I think that your videos are going to help me catch 4x the fish. Thank you!
Always happy to share and help wherever I can! Thank you for the kind words, very much appreciated! If you ever have any ideas or subjects you think I should touch base on, please do not hesitate to ask! Open to any ideas!
Nice video and great info. I will take your suggestions and apply them over here on the East Coast nothing under 50lbs line, more like 80lb, our tunas run in the 50lb-100+lb so 20lb lines won't work for the tunas. But we don't use live bait much here, just chunk and jiggs. we also have to have a 100 yard mono top shot on head boats.
I learned some knew knots that I will probably apply to my daily use. A video I would like to see is one going over your entire bluefin arsenal and what you like and use each setup for. I love your videos and have learned so much from watching them.
Lucky for you, I already have full bluefin break down covering the basics of the 5 rods I take. Hopefully in the near future I will do an update video though! ua-cam.com/video/jQW2HLkMsmY/v-deo.htmlsi=AjX7kAWjjdKNs5cq
Wow, outstanding video. Absolutely brilliant, this may be the best fly lining instruction ever. This should be shown at the start of all long-range trips. Perhaps a video on how to behave on a party boat, what to do and what not to do from a skipper's point of view.
CONGRATULATIONS! You're the winner of the giveaway!! How can I get in touch with you, do you have Instagram? If so what is your username so I can reach out to you?
The most valuable thing I learned from this video is definitely the knots. I’ve been looking for a good mono to fluoro connection that is both strong and easy to tie and I’ve finally found it! The loop knot has always intimidated me for some reason but this was the best explanation on how to tie it that I’ve ever seen. In the future, I’d like to see gear reviews if possible. In the past, you kinda did this with the Lexa; now I’d like to see how your other reels perform and hold up and which you’d recommend to people
I’ll do my best to cover some videos like that in the future! It would be cool to go over what reels I recommend for what types of fishing. Thank you for the idea, and feedback. Very much appreciated!

I really really enjoyed this video. I've learned a lot of little details that will definitely make a difference. I really liked where Cesar talks about heavy fluorocarbon to light mono making a huge difference.
I never would’ve thought to do that without him telling me that trick, but I really like it! So much great info, so glad he was willing to do this video!
This is hands down the best and most informative video I’ve watched yet on this subject.. I’ve always scoffed at braid to mono to fluoro thinking there’s too many connections with not enough purpose.. and surprise! I’m the guy on the rail getting broken off over and over on light line.. with a new knot learned I’m rethinking my whole approach to flylining (already re-gearing my tackle), and hooking the bait in-line with the bait body under the fin bone is something I would have never done on my own.. I have yet to see/hear anyone else doing this.. can’t wait to try it out on the next trip! Awesome segment! Keep em’ coming guys! I’m hooked!! (Pun intended)
Thanks Ray and Cesar. Great video and very informative. Chapstick and the butt hook parallel to body are definitely two tricks I am eager to try on my next trip!
It’s been awesome having Cesar apart of the channel to share his knowledge! I’ve learned so much from him over the past year. Tight lines brotha, thank you for the kind words!
These last few Vida with Ceaser. Like the previous comment. 30 years on the water. Amazing what I didn't know!!. Great stuff! Learn a lot!! Thank you!!
It’s truly incredibly how many small details and tricks he knows that the average angler would never know! Can’t wait to try out these new tips next year!
As a newbie, planning my first tuna trip, this video was epic! Learned so much with so much more to learn. I'M HOOKED!! Thanks for putting this together, Cheers!
Happy to help! Hoping to put together a lot more tackle talk videos throughout this year as well! If you have any topic ideas you think we should touch base on, let me know! Thank you for the feedback and kind words, very much appreciated!
I had a great experience with the Finicky Flyline! The advice provided was excellent, and I learned some new methods that I'm excited to try out. In fact, I was so impressed that I just ordered some chapstick to make sure I'm fully prepared for my next fishing trip. The demonstration of hooking the bait and tying the knot from lighter line to a heavier leader was especially helpful. Despite having been fishing for seven years, I had never come across such a effective belly hook technique before. Thank you for the valuable information, and I wish everyone good luck and tight lines!
Thank you so much for the feedback, very much appreciated! Glad you were able to gain some value from this video. I can’t wait to try these tricks out next season!
@@Dirty.Hookers yeah, normally I run straight braid to a 3 foot leader, but mono makes sense. Already put topshots on my reels. Even the bait hooking under the bone was 👌
greatest, simplist, and most informative video .... ever! .... been fishing offshore almost 3 years .... tuna, yellowtail, dorado .... captain of first boat i was on, best finess flyliner I have ever seen ... gave me about 10 minutes of instruction ... patience, lighter line and smaller hooks .... all he used were #1 and #2 flyliner hooks ... he used about a 100 feet of 25 or 30# flouro ... I have had a lot of success . definately will have seaguar gold label bite leader ... 50# flouro ... directly to my 25 and 30# mono or flouro topshot leader. Will give me the confidence to pitch into some bigger fish .... and land them .... not just to hook them!! thanks ... curtis
Glad you found so much use for future success with from this video! Also thank you for sharing your personal experience and knowledge! Much appreciated
I learned the whip flash of the bait having the softer rod tip to not stun the bait. Thanks ray love the videos about you knowledge and others to help everyone.
Chapstick is a completely new concept for me and I always questioned if saliva was enough lubrication to prevent damage to the line. Comprehensive guide on hooking the bait was more than helpful. I will be hooking like that going forward. Thank you for sharing this
YO I came from Benjies channel from the live tuna tips you guys did tonight I learned about well the finicky line. I’m very new and a kid and the line and hooks would be some helpful stuff for some future trips! Next time maybe talk about setups for offshore fishing and maybe routines you have while fishing! Love this video already and I’m looking forward for future videos!
Thank you for tuning into the channel! Really glad you were able to find me through the live stream with Benjie! Hoping to do an updated arsenal video come this new year. Until then, if you check out my “Tackle Talks” playlist, the “what’s working right now” videos or “Offshore Tackle Breakdown” videos is all offshore recommendations from this past season
Its my first year fishing i got really into it going on my first 1.5 day in 2 weeks cant wait to put everything ive have learned with your channel i been watching all your videos religiously lately to learn more about what iama need for this trip
Great collab with BKF tonight. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. I learned that Cesar + chapstick = genius. Chapstick will be in all my kits from now on.
Ive learned alot watching your videos and now i will definitely be trying/using light line with a heavier leader as a bite guard. Your videos are always informative. Thank you for the time and dedication you put into your content.
Thank you so much for the kind words! There’s not a whole lot of people who really understand how much work goes behind the computer, so hearing this really means a lot! Thank you 👊🤝
Assume Video!!Thanks for putting this together. As a newbie planning my first tuna trip, I learned so much and cant wait to learn more! Great info like this lessens the "tuna" mystery. Cheers!!
I’ve also been using the double uni, but my recent trip really put the pressure on that knot coming in and almost lost fish with it catching on the eyelets. Since then changed to the Alberto knot. I’ll definitely work that new knot you guys went over. Also, can’t agree more about glass rods…my 90J gets that bait right where I want it 😁 Keep up the great content 🤙
Yeah the double uni is just a little too bulky for my likings. Surgeons knot was my new go to, but this Seaguar knot definitely is now my go to mono to fluoro connection knot. Thanks for the kind words man, much appreciated!
Thank you for the info, the reasons he hooks bait where he does makes total sense and i have never seen that. Also the rod information I needed to hear because i am looking for a new set up
I had never seen that fin hook trick either, I can’t wait to try that out next season! Glad this video was helpful for you, thank you for the feedback!
I learned all the different line sizes and the hook sizes. I always knew this was important but never really knew the specifics. I would love to see another tackle breakdown about your arsenal and what you like each setup for. Love the vids keep making them.
I definitely will have to do a new updated version of an offshore arseanl video! I covered all my set ups I take off shore in this video, but I’ll do an update this next year! ua-cam.com/video/gevNj2Y1Ep8/v-deo.htmlsi=btzlsdhH4c2roi7Q
Every time I watch your videos I learn something knew. In this video I learned some knew knots that I can definitely trust more than a clench knot😅. I really like your vids and would like to see a video of you breaking down your tuna arsenal and what you like each setup for and it’s capabilities.
If you go through my “Tackle Talk” playlist I do cover a lot of “what’s working right now” videos, and most of them stay nearly the same tackle just to get a ball park. But hopefully in a future video I can cover an updated version!
Thank you for another awesome video! I learned a lot about braid vs mono and the pros and cons of them. That was super helpful and answered a lot of questions. Keep the awesome tutorials coming!
I caught my 1st tuna 4 weeks ago on borrowed reels, since then I’ve been on 3 full days trips. My 2nd trip had 1 small bluefin, gave it to a friend (his 1st trip), 3rd trip I skunk. I’m about to do a 1.5 10Nov. The fishing lingo is crazy, learning difference from acronym YFT, BFT, their difference, bubbles & foamers. Still learning about top shot, leaders, rods, reels. I got to practice casting. Your videos are helping me with this learning curve, while others took advantage of the FNG now I have to go back & have this store change my line to flouro because a couple days ago the deckhand said “bro they gave you all mono” after I spent 1200 on reels. Thank you.
What do you mean you have to change your line to fluoro? The fluoro “bite leader” only needs to be 2-3feet in length. I’m thinking you mean you need to change your reels to braid? On my 30lb set up I have it spooled with 50lb braid and about 50yards of 30lb mono. This gives you the maximum amount of line in case you hook up to larger model tuna.
@sps_racing1515 I have to agree with with @bsd858. If they spooled “All Mono” that means they didn’t put any braid backing. Fluorocarbon is only used as a “Short Leader” (3-6 feet), where as monofilament is for your main line / “Top Shot” (30 - 80+ Yards) I do also run a braid backing on all my reels. For fly line reels, I fill the spool on my reel with braid, but leave enough room for about a 80yard top shot of 30lb.
Thanks guys- I have braid backing, but wanted flouro on my 50# setup,I got mono but I paid for flouro. So how can I tell between flouro and mono looking at it? Thanks.
@@sps_racing1515 since you’re new to fishing, it can be difficult to tell the difference between the two. I can tell the difference by “feel” and also when tying a hook. It’s much stiffer and doesn’t have as much “memory” as mono. My question to you is why you were wanting a top shot of “fluoro” on your reel when you can just add a 4-6 foot leader. Fluoro is very expensive and also more difficult to cast for someone new to fishing. But in your case I understand your frustration that did not get what you paid for. Maybe you can go back to that tackle shop and explain what happened and maybe they can fix it for you? But personally, I would recommend fishing a mono top shot on your fishing reels.
I loved the whole video. I've always run a super long top shot, but not knowing how beneficial it was. Thanks for the explanation. Also the "getting bit firts, and then worrying about landing the fish" comment. Makes total sense. I'll be looking for a glass rod for fly lining now
Great tips all around. The mono to fluouro and braid to fluoro debate is never-ending. Nice job on the closeup of the knot tying and I will def be trying out the chapstick trick.
Most interesting I learned from this vid was using the chapstick for lubricating the knot… never thought of that but I have seen some tackle shops do it. Would love to see a vid on night jigging on the next tackle talk
It was actually really impressive seeing how much better and cleaner the connection knot synched down over using moisture as the lubricant! I did film a Bluefin Jigging Seminar acouple months back, lmk if there’s any other topics you’d like us to touch base on! ua-cam.com/video/Ul5FLB2dFgQ/v-deo.htmlsi=NEXzjSlWGANnRvVb
Very cool and informative. You can use a more parabolic rod and use straight braid to mid length fluorocarbon leader and add a heavier short section of fluorocarbon at the end as a bite guard. The softer rod tip acts as a shock absorber instead of the mono top shot.
Everyone has their personal preference! I will say there are definitely days where braid to a short leader out fishes all! Thank you for your feedback for others to read up on! Much appreciated!
I learned a new knot for mono to flouro connection and learned that during a finicky bite, even the sound of the rattle is important depending on wether you get bit or not. I hope to see hopefully some lighter tackle / calico and sand bass related videos, overall awesome video Ray, very knowledgeable!
Glad you were able to gain some value from this video! I’ve been using the loop knot for the last 2 years while fly lining, and I love how much freedom it gives the bait without having a ringed hook!
I'm saveing this video to go over again later I learned a lot 25 or 30 mono topshot to floro bite guard vs spectra to floro how to hook bait better new knots and soft rod tips. I wonder what he thinks about spinning reels for casting and fishing live bait I know there's alot of hate on spinning gear but they cast easy even underhand and the bait can take line off spool easy to without haveing to spin all of your line like on a conventional reel
I think with a Bait runner style spinning reel, is perfectly fine to fish a live bait on. Having a normal spinning reel, does still work fine, but it’s just not as efficient as a bait runner. Conventional, even though the bait isn’t able to swim your line as freely as a spinning reel, it is a lot easier to control and finesse your bait with an open spool that can spin forward and backwards
Always good to get new tips and knowledge. Will definitely be trying these tips. Especially curious to try and hook a bait in line with the body instead of across
Funny thing about the seagaur knot, I decided to try it one day and totally forgot, caught multiple tuna and yellows to 15 pounds, bounced every single fish thinking I was fishing straight mono, end of the day I looked at the rod, realized I was fishing a leader and decided I trusted the knot 100% from then on out
This was a great video. I am going to learn the two knots and also try the longer mono. With a short heavy floracarbon. I had heard of using chapstick but always forget about using it. Also have alot of star drags that I never really use. I do use softer tip rods. The hooking baits makes perfect sense I can't wait to try all the tips in this video.
Thank you for the feedback! So bummed my season was coming to an end when we filmed this lol. Now I have to wait till next season to try all these new tricks
1:47 Tying the Seaguar Knot for a F-50# to M-25# I believe is going to be a game changer for getting bit! I did a screen record and added it to my Fishing Photo Album so I can always be able to access the info out on the water to enable tying the knot correctly. I also loved the Chapstick addition. I would like to learn more about when to fish which lure. From ghost popper to flat fall to Stick bait. Thanks! 👍🏼
Great video, thanks for having these videos with Caesar. I always learn a lot, this time I learned about fishing lighter mono and a heavy flouro so you can have that bite guard. I also learned that it's better to use small j hooks as opposed to mutu hooks which is great because I struggled alot using mutu hooks it was hard for me to hook a bait with those.
Yeah the J hook’s definitely help pin the bait on a lot faster! I do still prefer circle hooks, but it took me awhile to get comfortable with pinning a bait with a circle hook fast enough without hurting it too much
Nice informative video! Cesar did a great presentation and very clear instructions. What I learned in this video. I learned the ease and quickness of the seagur knote versus the surgeons knot. I will be switching over AND using that CHAPSTICK!!! I learned about the value of using a star drag power reel versus a high speed reel. I learned the difference of using a softer moderate rod versus a fast rod. Maybe my favorite learning was the butt hook!!! I will definitely be adopting some of Cesar’s methods.
The bite guard is actually crazy good advice, definitely gonna try that now so I don’t get chewed off. It works for knife jigs so hopefully it works with bait too
Hopefully will be doing a lot more tackle talk videos throughout this year! I do have a fully playlist of different tackle talks, some also with Cesar as well!
Hello happy fishing Tuesday 🎣 thank you very much for this how to video it's very helpful I will try these braid to leader line knot I love Pier fishing 🎣 but I never have fished using a leader line I have always fished with strat braid main fishing line or straight mean monofilament for the chapstick can it be any chapstick
Any chapstick works. It’s just adding for easier slip when sinching your knot. Same concept as using spit or water as a lubricant, but works a bit better
Awesome video , this season I caught my first Bluefin tuna and wish I knew about Seaguar knot & the chap stick trick . Also I was using Circle hooks wish I used j hooks instead. Thanks for all tips keep the videos coming.
I wish I knew all of these small tips earlier this season too, I’ll just have to wait till next year to try it all out! Circle hooks still work fine, just takes more time hooking the bait. I personally prefer circle hooks for tuna fishing
Happy to share! Hopefully will be doing more tackle talk videos throughout this season, so if you ever have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to let me know!
Thank you for the great information. I will be using the light line with the bite leader as,I have lost many fish at color with the lighter line. I also learned a new technique for belly/butt hooking a bait.
Yeah, all of the east coast definitely focuses more on spinning tackle I’ve noticed. If I were to fly line with a spinning reel, I’d definitely try a bait runner style reel. Something that you don’t have to leave the bail open. Also, I’d definitely keep the line running through my fingers, so that way if I feel the bait stop swimming I can give the line a little tug (in replace of back spooling the slack), and get that bait swimming again.
Thanks Ray and Cesar. Great video. I learned at least 3 new tactics that I'll be adding to my arsenal. I'll start with a longer Mono top shot and change my live bait hooking method. Great job Cesar. I hope to see more of you in the future. Maybe show us how you catch Calico's off the rocks. :)
Thank you for the feedback! So much great info provided in this video, I can’t wait to try some of these new tips next season! Possibly, just covering calico fishing overall, but off the rocks is a little tougher just because you have to cover a lot of ground
Very informative video! I'll try that knot but it's very similar to the surgeon knot. You can tie the surgeon knot by twisting as well but i do have a question. After the 2 1/2 turns, do you bring the bite guard only through the loop or both bite guard and main line through? I'll also try that belly hook method. I always need to do feather light casts when I belly hook baits and he's spot on about belly hooking baits with circle hooks. The narrow gap really can make it tough to hook a larger sardine at times. Also I definitely will keep chap stick in my tackle bag! LOL. One more question, captains and deckhands always emphasize leader size, line shy fish bite smaller test line. I know flouro is invisible in the water, so with that being said, won't a 50lb leader to 25lb main line be too big on line shy fish? Maybe a drag setting video would be a good idea for a future video you guys seem to cover everything else! LOL Thanks Ray
You pull both the full leader and mainline tag end back through the loop. The 50# leader if it’s only about 14” - 18” shouldn’t make too much of a difference. The idea behind the lighter line to short bite guard is to still allow the bait to swim like it would with 25lb test. It’s a lot easier for the bait fish to swim with a 25lb top shot, than it would be for it to swim with a 40lb or 50lb topshot of mono
Thanks for clearing that up Ray. After watching again I saw he pulled both thru. lol. Yeah man I’ve seen that knot before but I thought it was just a different way to tie the surgeon knot. It’s easy to tie and it’s strong! I’ll definitely use it.

One of the most informative video I’ve seen so far. Excellent job guys!!!
Really appreciate the positive feedback thank you!
Best tips video i ever watched. Your reasoning behind every tip was on point. Changed my fishing habbits for the good 👍.
Even the bait hooking under the bone was 👌
@@diegomelendez2001 that one I’m really excited to try! It’ll be game changing to really be able to cast a belly hook bait!
greatest, simplist, and most informative video .... ever! .... been fishing offshore almost 3 years .... tuna, yellowtail, dorado .... captain of first boat i was on, best finess flyliner I have ever seen ... gave me about 10 minutes of instruction ... patience, lighter line and smaller hooks .... all he used were #1 and #2 flyliner hooks ... he used about a 100 feet of 25 or 30# flouro ...
Thank you for the kind words and continued support! Really appreciate it!
One again, I learn something new every how to video. Keep up the great work.
Thank you, very much appreciated!
Its my first year fishing i got really into it going on my first 1.5 day in 2 weeks cant wait to put everything ive have learned with your channel i been watching all your videos religiously lately to learn more about what iama need for this trip
Wow I was mind blown watching this video . His knowledge is incredible .
So much great knowledge! I’m so glad Cesar was willing to take the time to do this.
I learned a lot from this video from the chapstick trick to the way he hooks the bait in the belly thanks for the good content 🤙
Thank you for the feedback! Really glad you found so much value from this video!
Great collab with BKF tonight. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. I learned that Cesar + chapstick = genius. Chapstick will be in all my kits from now on.
Glad you were able to find me through Benjie’s live stream! Thank you for checking out the channel.
Lol almost, Cesar + Secrets = Cheat Codes
Thanks good video ❤
Ive learned alot watching your videos and now i will definitely be trying/using light line with a heavier leader as a bite guard. Your videos are always informative. Thank you for the time and dedication you put into your content.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
There’s not a whole lot of people who really understand how much work goes behind the computer, so hearing this really means a lot!
Thank you 👊🤝
Assume Video!!Thanks for putting this together. As a newbie planning my first tuna trip, I learned so much and cant wait to learn more! Great info like this lessens the "tuna" mystery. Cheers!!
Hope you get to put these new tips and tricks to test this season! Best of luck to you this year!👊
The seaguar knot with chapstick, learned something new!
So game changing! I was impressed how much better and cleaner it synched down with the chapstick.
I learned so much from Cesar . He’s an asset . Love the show . Thank you guys for posting
Thank you for the feedback! He is such a wealth of knowledge! So honored he is willing to take the time to share these things with the rest of us
Thank you for the info, the reasons he hooks bait where he does makes total sense and i have never seen that.

Very much appreciated, thank you for the feedback!
Really glad Cesar was willing to take the time to share some knowledge with the rest of us.
Fluorocarbon is only used as a “Short Leader” (3-6 feet), where as monofilament is for your main line / “Top Shot” (30 - 80+ Yards)
I do also run a braid backing on all my reels.
I'll be looking for a glass rod for fly lining now
Really glad you found value from this!
I learned so much about fly lining from Cesar this night, can’t wait to try out these new tricks next season
Dude,I've always had trouble with hooking live bait. You have made it very clear..thanks my man..much appreciated!!!!!!
Really glad you were able to find some value out of this! Hope you get to put these tips to the test soon!
Thanks, I am absolutely setting up my Single Speed Star Drag Saltiga for fly line fishing.
I love my Saltiga star drag for fly line and casting! Such a nice reel
I learned a new knot for mono to flouro connection and learned that during a finicky bite, even the sound of the rattle is important depending on wether you get bit or not. I hope to see hopefully some lighter tackle / calico and sand bass related videos, overall awesome video Ray, very knowledgeable!
Thank you for the feedback and the idea! I’ll definitely try to see what I can put together for bass fishing in the future!
thanks! Looking fowards to them!@@Dirty.Hookers
Excellent video! Wow! I learned that I should use a loop knot as opposed to a snell which I've always used. Thanks for the tips!
New fisherman here. Just had my first bluefin excursion. A bust. Wish I had watched this first. Love all the content.
Always good to get new tips and knowledge. Will definitely be trying these tips. Especially curious to try and hook a bait in line with the body instead of across
I’m really excited to try out that trick! I always went sideways through the belly, I think in-line is going to be game changing!
The knots are a good trick I am going to remember to do when thing get finicky. Thanks guys for the tricks
Happy to share. I can’t wait to try out some of these tricks next season!
Great video! Good to know about the long mono main line, star drag reels, light main to thicker fluoro, and soft rod tips! Very good info!
Glad this video helped you learn so much!
Thank you for the feedback, happy to share.
Funny thing about the seagaur knot, I decided to try it one day and totally forgot, caught multiple tuna and yellows to 15 pounds, bounced every single fish thinking I was fishing straight mono, end of the day I looked at the rod, realized I was fishing a leader and decided I trusted the knot 100% from then on out
I have never fished on the west Coast, so all of this information was new and useful to me.
Thanks! 👍🏼
Learned a new knot and the new fin hook. Going to have to try this new technique out! Great instructional video!
Thank you! I can’t wait for next season, I really wanna try that fin hook trick!
Great info. Love the comments on the rods and the belly hook.
Thank you! Yeah that fin hook trick is gonna be game changing!
Can’t wait to try that out next season.
Absolutely great tutorial. Step by step. Thank you so much. And waiting for a new ones.
Thank you for the feedback and kind words!
Definitely will be putting out some more future tackle talks for all different kinds of fishing
I do still prefer circle hooks, but it took me awhile to get comfortable with pinning a bait with a circle hook fast enough without hurting it too much
Amazing info Ray, definitely using the lighter mono to heavy top shot and the knot 👍🏼
The Seaguar knot is game changing! It’s impressive how well it holds for lines of such big differences in sizes
It works for knife jigs so hopefully it works with bait too
Such a helpful tip, and the Seaguar knot really helps for connecting a heavier line to a lighter line!
Just watched this! Best video explanation by far for fly line tuna fishing! More of this content!
Hopefully will be doing a lot more tackle talk videos throughout this year! I do have a fully playlist of different tackle talks, some also with Cesar as well!
Get them out before tuna season!! Love your videos!
@@rattypoopdeck7898 I’ll try my best, but tuna season can literally happen any week now lol.
Based on what we’ve been seeing these last couple years.
Second time i watched this, so informational. Thank for a great video on flylining.
Thank you for coming back for a second round!
Really appreciate the kind words, thank you!
Thank you for the video. Learned some great knots. Was the other reel a Diawa? What is a good fiberglass rod?
The 2 reels he was holding were a Daiwa Saltiga Star Drag Z, which is his personal fly line reel, and a Penn Fathom is the current date reel
SUPER helpful video! Thanks gang
Happy to share, thank you!
Loving the tackle talks with Cesar! Going to pick me up some chapstick and start practicing the new knot!!!😂
I never thought about using chapstick before this, but seeing how much better and cleaner it can synch down than using moisture is really impressive!
Great lessons makes so much sense best lesson s I’ve had in along time
Definitely the best seminar I’ve been able to sit in on and learn from!
Thanks for all the tips! Will be sure sure to use on my next trip
Happy to share, I’m definitely going to be trying out some of these tricks next season when I get the chance as well!
Ya i can add a comment!! Thanks! You just changed 90% of my flylining!
Happy to share! Definitely change about 70% of how I’ll be setting up for fly line from here on
Wow, learned a lot. It’s the small details that matter. Im definitely gonna swap try the the segar knot and loop knot.
The small details that differ you from the rest of the Anglers on board is always a big added bonus!
That chapstick method was super cool to learn about and I hope to see more fishing seminars in the future
Learned a lot thanks for sharing this awesome video!!!
Happy to share! Hopefully will be doing more tackle talk videos throughout this season, so if you ever have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to let me know!
Mono topshot for the win. I find I pull fewer hooks due to the additional stretch is another benefit of the mono. Thanks for the info!
The stretch of the mono really really helps with absorbing head shakes!
Long top shot of mono is very beneficial
Excellent informative video. Always learning something new.
Really appreciate that, thank you for the feedback!
Thank you for the great information. I will be using the light line with the bite leader as,I have lost many fish at color with the lighter line. I also learned a new technique for belly/butt hooking a bait.
Great video! Loved the chapstick trick , the flouro knot I’m going to practice a lot before next season . Thanks for the tips videos they really help.
Such a good trick, I was really impressed with how much better it sinches down than with moisture as a lubricant!
love this video. Here in northwest FloridaI spinning reels dominate. I am wondering how this could done effectively with a spinner
Can’t wait to try this tomorrow. Learned that #25 Mono is stronger then you think and use 50 Yards
How’d you like it? Did you get a chance to test out some of these tips?
Caught a yellowfin tuna, a Bonita and couple of 10# Mahi’s
@@alanabara1248 nice, sounds like a pretty good day! Which boat did you go out on?
I live on Oahu Hawaii and fish off my kayak.
@@alanabara1248 oh nice, that’s so cool!
What’s the biggest Yellowfin you’ve landed on kayak?
Thanks Ray and Cesar. Great video. I learned at least 3 new tactics that I'll be adding to my arsenal. I'll start with a longer Mono top shot and change my live bait hooking method. Great job Cesar. I hope to see more of you in the future. Maybe show us how you catch Calico's off the rocks. :)
Thank you for the feedback! So much great info provided in this video, I can’t wait to try some of these new tips next season!
Possibly, just covering calico fishing overall, but off the rocks is a little tougher just because you have to cover a lot of ground
Love these seminar videos! I will be trying out the Seaguar knot on my next trip, can't forget the chap stick!
LOL
Thanks Ray
@@seansimmons7683 so strong and super easy! Definitely a good one to know for sure

Haha that’s awesome, thank you for the feedback! Always happy to share whatever I can to help speed up that learning curve for others.
I learned a new knot and why to use wax with floor lines nice presentation good information
I started to try the chapstick for lubricant trick over the last couple weeks with fishing, and its amazing how much better it synchs down!
Thanks for the great content. I appreciate learning about the seagar knot and also about how to properly hook a live bait. Thanks again, great channel.
I will try the seaguar knot for the floro to mono connection next time out if I can get back out on the Highliner
Thank you loved the Video and learned to use a lower gear ratio reel.
I too have been using reels too fast, I’ll definitely need to convert over to slower speeds for next season
Love the loop knot, thanks for the clear instructions, going to save me a lot of money from buying ringed hooks. Very good thorough video, maybe next time show the best way to cast the bait?
Learned a lot from this especially after getting skunk hit on my last trip. All the items covered were things I wish I knew.
I really wish I knew these things before all of my trips this season lol. I’ll be ready for next year though! Really excited to test out these new tips and trips
