I originally wanted to major in marketing in college, but math wasn't my strongest area and I would have had to take additional math courses. The career advisor recommended I major in public relations because it was similar to marketing, and I could still obtain certain desired careers with the major. It was the best decision. I'm now in a communications position, but I'm doing a lot of marketing in my role. I also learned so much about how public relations and marketing work together while studying public relations in college✨
I keep hearing so much negative stuff about communications, and I’m hoping to study communications with journalism and PR but I’m so worried about not being able to find a job 😕😕😕
@@rund7418 You should do more research and see projected job outlook and look into roles you would be interested in. Communications is needed in all places.

This video was very informative. There are so many different avenues that you can go into with . I went to school for business. I am developing a interest in Project Management. I find that it can be difficult and rewarding when you work for smaller companies because you usually end up having to be a jack of all trades. You have a new subscriber.

Hi Lauren! I’m mainly a graphic designer but received a job offer as marketing advertising coordinator/illustrator. I never realized closely similar the duties overlap and that’s so exciting! I’m a little lost on some of the responsibilities on the marketing side (I work with a project manager who handles strategies and promos) so thanks for the information and sharing 🔥☺️ very helpful!

I am so glad that I found this video. I was supposed to graduate in 2018 I’ve literally changed my major 3 times🥴 this kinda helped me narrow down what exactly what I want to do, being my concentration is in communication, & finding a video of a black woman on UA-cam with insight is amazing so thank you!❤️😭

For all looking for inspo- I majored in accounting in college and worked in the field for about 2-3 years… I definitely did not like it at all and wanted to do marketing desperately! So I got my MBA degree and then just started a job in marketing/media analytics. I was finally able to get my food into the door into the industry and I’m hoping I can grow in this company! It definitely takes time but I agree you do not need an MBA or masters degree in marketing, try internships/online classes which I think can really benefit! Best of luck to all 😊
Hi my degree is in busi mgmt & mktg. For the psych major, though you don't typically think of a psych degree when you think of mktg, being a psych major has its advantages. In order to successfully sell & mkt to customers, you must first understand their needs and wants. The psych degree can be leveraged to give you a leg up. Hope this helps.

I am certified in Executive Asst, Artificial Intelligeance, and Event Planning. I am starting school soon Bachelors Degree in Business Management. What I really want is a career that includes Marketing, Sales, Web Development, and Research. Customer Service and Social Media. I was hired as a Marketing Associate but the company went out of business due to Corona Virus. 51,000 a year career. At the moment I am a Receptionist not making much money, but I love this job. And I will like to stay and find something that s remotely. Hopefully I will find something soon.

I think a graphic design minor would definitely work well with marketing! You'll be able to market with the graphics that you make, so yes!

your answer for how much money you make is non-sense ... "if you live on your own it will take a large chunk of your money" cmon. Give an average.. 50k ?, 100k ?. Its an extremely important question.

I agree. Something did not seem right about that answer.
On the contrary her answer was perfect! Not everyone makes the same amount of money in marketing so how do you expect her to tell you ? For her to take time to even give you this information (that you easily could've looked up yourself) is outstanding! Besides if she told you how much she makes and you don't make that then you'll be blaming her if you don't make that. Just like her do your own research and stop waiting for everything to be hand fed to you!

no but to major in marketing at my school, i have to take standard business classes. the math classes i have to take are financial accounting, management accounting, business calculus, business statistics 1, business statistics 2, college algebra, and even some math is done in microeconomics and macroeconomics
