Marathon has become just like the new Marvel Blade film. It’s been in development for too long. Had too many hands on it & It’s lost its hype & anyone who was excited/cared about it, has moved on
The best decision they did was bring Wesley snipes back for the deadpool wolverine movie. He should be the main character in the standalone and maybe have the new actor as a hero buddy type thing and slowly transition him to the forefront as Wesley snipes is getting up there in age. But Wesley snipes should absolutely be involved while he is still able to pull it off
Time will tell. I just don’t think Sony’s audience is going to appreciate PvP only games in this day and age. Especially with the price of gaming going up with all the essential goods, people are being more frugal. Games have to be immaculate, deep, and offer a variety of experiences to do well.
I think the PlayStation audience can go for it. A great pointer is hell divers too. The thing is is that I don't think people are mad about these games. I think they're mad that this is the only games they're focusing on. If Concord came out with a lineup that included astrobot this year and earlier next year, a God of War first game remake from the ground up and then an entirely new single player IP and then somewhere in there is the next Wolverine game. I think no people. We'd be laughing at Concord, but we wouldn't have this much of a problem. Single thing on Sony slate seems to be this type of extraction shooter multiplayer microtransactions ape all the current popular trends in the shooter genre type of game. Hell apparently even the next Spider-Man game is going to be some form of multiplayer microtransaction game. You know the sequel to one of the two biggest single player games of the year which is going to push back development for any third game that they had in mind when it should just be like an extra mode to the third game. That's what's getting everyone angry again. I think if they only showed like a minute or two of Concord in that state of play but then featured astrobot for the last 5 minutes at the end. Everyone would love it when it was a reverse astrobot was just thrown at the end for 2 seconds and they spent half of that state of play on Concord and it really just shows where Sony's priorities are.
Here's the thing, PlayStation has been missing a multiplayer game for a really long time. They have IPs that already exists that they can revive that would interest their player base. Killzone, Resistance, so on.
I'm gonna laugh if it was in fact eaten up by Destiny...but at the same time I think it's a good thing if they focus all their talent back onto Destiny
The thing is a Destiny 3 should've been out by now if there was any last hope for true innovation for the franchise and not just basic QOL stuff that being absent in a game from 2014 was a bad look. As of now we sit with basically a minimum viable product with not much of a fundamental shakeup, we've been literally doing some of the same activities for ages at this point. Also would you be willing to give Bungie the benefit of doubt to not pull the same scams they did with early D1 and D2 buying themselves time kicking the can down the road to address later as they ship a half finished product out? Sure Destiny has grown a lot and it does make you wonder how bad could they slack off to have a theoretical 3 ship poorly, but the burnt ungodly amounts of good will by problems of their own making.
They already too late for that They need it to do that on 2022 not start on 2025 to finish it close to 2030 Just do what I did finished the master witness finish the 10 year saga Let it fade away
I don’t trust bungie with a new destiny game, every time they do a new destiny game it takes a year or two before it’s actually playable and if that happens again bungie would be actually dead. I agree a total refresh needs to happen but a D3 scares me a bit. I think it needs to happen but I’m not sure it would end well
I support a D3. I don't know if the engine can handle it but we need new everything. Might need a new engine. We need that D1 art style where everything is dark and gritty. We need the D1 artist for Titan armor back. D2 Titan gear is pathetic in comparison. D3 needs customizable ships we can fly around and do combat in. since Bungie is trying to make clans a thing, give us clan buildings or something. D3 needs FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE GUNS AND ARMOR! let us choose different arms and legs. Let us add attachments to the guns and a few armor pieces. Let us add textures to armor and not have it tied in with the shaders. D3 needs a new movement system so we ain't gotta swing a dumb sword around. Like a charged thruster ability for Titan, a gravity pull for warlock and super dash for hunters or something. You also can't forget about Sparrow Racing. In the down time between dlcs, just throw on a SRL championship tournament. This would keep it fresh and give players something to look forward to after the main content. Most importantly, we need trading and ALOT of loot to trade.
To repurpose it as a game mode in Destiny would be a great idea. Especially if they swap it out with gambit. The playerbase has dwindled for D2 and rightly so, but it’ll always have an existing following that are easier to please than a new game on the market that potentially could end up like Concord.
@@ReforgeGaming I know they don’t want to be a “one game only” sort of team but it’s what they need to continue doing for now. Get Destiny back to the wonder and magic of the D1 days. All hands on deck making that happen. People want to see that more.
Actually, I think they should release the game. Fairgame$ as well. Let these companies learn the hard way. Lets not act like we give a darn about Bungie or any of these companies that chase trends but won’t listen to player feedback or acknowledge player engagement. They’re going to have to come up with a different method for live service games.
Though this a while ago, just before Concord was cancelled… Marathon should be a competitive PvP mode for Destiny. One that has it’s own sandbox, and requires you to develop and control a Combat Frame (fitting the aesthetic of Marathon). And sell hella skins. We already have the rogue features in Deep Dive, they just need to make it procedural like The Infinite Forest. And then they could repurpose other existing content too.. to create sort like a horde mode playlist
Agreed. There was mad skepticism around Destiny before it came out. I did play tests at Bungie during the development, and I was honestly not SUPER excited after a few prelim playtests. I left feedback, so did everyone else, and look at what it’s become. No reason they can’t do the exact same thing with Marathon.
I would want it to be canceled. Just make an FPS like the old ones and maybe have a collection of the previous Marathon titles. They re-released them on the Xbox 360 but now under Sony they can re-release them again on PS5.
We haven't seen any gameplay from either Marathon nor Fairgames. While I understand the sceptical outlook on the current live service situation, maybe it would be best to reserve judgment for now and wait for more information and gameplay on both titles. What if they actually play great? While the CGI trailers may be a starting point to get an idea of the direction of a game, it's not enough to reach an educated conclusion on whether a game should be canceled or not
The problem with a theoretical Destiny 3 is that most games on that scale take YEARS to produce. Concord, which was a much smaller game than even Destiny 1, took 8 years to throw together, and hundreds of millions of dollars. Based on how Bungie was bemoaning their lost profits from TFS preorders, they don't have the funds to push into such a massive product. They don't have the manpower with the layoffs, having fired or relocated a lot of their people. They don't ahve the time, with Sony pushing down on them and urging them to make immediate profits. No money, no people, and no time, unless Bungie has been making D3 for years already and is just lying about not having it in production, they can't afford to make that direct sequel like people want. They put so much faith into Marathon that it NEEDS to succeed, or the future of the company will be in imminent peril. Based on everythying I've seen, that success will be fleeting at best, and at worst, it will be a colossal self-immolation a lot like Concord.
Marathon is NOT a hero shooter, Marathon does indeed have innovation and creativity behind it and im sorry but it's just not going to be cancelled... Personally I find it weird that people are hating on this game so hard before it's even released. Marathon is simply not comparable to concord, Concord was a hero shooter priced at $40 in a market of free to play titles, without any innovative mechanics and the lack of an interesting storyline and artstyle. Marathon is an extraction shooter with an incredibly rich storyline, cross-play and what looks like some interesting mechanics. This attention farming doom content is becoming tiresome.
Couldn't agree more. If there was more evidence towards Marathons cancelation then I could understand, but there's no real evidence. If Marathon fails it will be reflected on Destiny 2. The hate on this game is too much we haven't even seen gameplay. I'll never understand why no one talks about Hunt Showdown, the closest game to Marathon out right now.
I feel like this is coming from the perspective of someone who doesn't know about D2 or it's community. Most of what Destiny fans love about destiny is the customization. Finding your unique weapon, Your unique build, your unique fashion. If the next D2 expansion cones out and Bungie says "you can't use any of your current gear here's some heroes have fun" the entire community will riot and D2 will tank
True. That leak about an event where you can only use event armor and weapons already caused more than just frowns. Especially the pvp community is all about armor stats and specific weapon rolls and many grinded for their gear to fit their playstyle. They will not take kindly to being forced to use other things or suddenly have the pvp changed from an arena shotter experience to an extraction shooter. There's very little hype for Marathon in D2's pve or pvp community and either Bungie or Sony apparently finally realized the pvp community are the ones that stick around between content releases... until you burn them too much (cue 45% revenue miss last year, current fast decline of player pop). If they forced Marathon type game play (extraction shooter or pvpve), it would not refresh the pvp side of the game, it'd be more likely to kill it. The current state of D2 already proves it can't survive as pve only though Bungie's been spinning the narrative of D2 being a pve game for years now.
When bungie spoke of trying new things and directions this is what I assumed they would do. I'm sure the maps from other games they were making can be used for pvp and pve in destiny. Bungie already has existing crossovers with myth and Marathon in game. I think along with the lore they could actually make a bungieverse.
I'm hoping the new CEOs continue the cleanup process from Jim Ryan's ill advised live service push. I believe Marathon should be next on the chopping block.
@@ReforgeGamingtotally agree, I wouldn't suggest all the live service games were a bad idea, I just think he overcommitted. They need to pull back on some of these projects. That's what I'm getting at
I dont believe that. Destiny is a sink ship. Marathon is the only thing that Bungie have currently, potential flop or not. If they start a new game now it will take a long time for it to generate revenue. I don't think the studio would survive that.
@@dommccabe17 nah the engine is already old, the map design and gameplay are a bit out of date, the AI It's always been braindead from the beginning, there has been almost no real new content for years because almost anything is recycled or rehashed, almost all devs with real passion and creative ability have either jumped ship or been fired... There's no going back and there is no Destiny 3 either. Move on dude
Theres no reason destiny couldn't be an extraction shooter too, most the wars in destiny the players only get to experience through cinematics, to let the players activively participate in skirimishes would be really cool
Man, right when I was jonesing for another COD:DMZ kind of an experience. I was hoping that Marathon might fill some of that void now that DMZ is apparently in its death-throes.
I understand the pov and dont totally disagree but i think they are in too deep at this point and have to release. There is always the possibility that marathon does for extraction what fortnite did for b.r. and break it out into the mainstream. We really have not seen what a triple A polished experience can do in the genre
@@ReforgeGaming Wouldnt call what theyre doing to Destiny 2 a refocus. Only thing that can save that game franchise is either dropping the 2 or making a destiny 3
@@piloman5483I don’t think they’d make a D3 for current gen consoles. If I had to bet I’d think that a new version would release on the next gen’s consoles.
@@DrFrogglePhD Destiny shouldnt have taken a backseat to Marathon as its their main source of income, as for the general idea they had for Marathon I dont mind it
They need to let this extraction and BR thing go. I don't know why companies have such a hard time understanding that many casual players do not like single life gameplay loops and they will inherently attract sweatier players and thus create a feedback loop of better players pushing casual players away. Every single extraction game has gone like this and many BRs have as well.
Hindsight is 20/20 but I can’t help but believe this extremely risky strategy is a product of Bungie’s (frankly unearned) hubris. They killed their golden goose and have nothing but poor community sentiment to show for it.
Dear Pete Parsons, we don't want a Genshin, World of Warcraft or Minecraft style game. We've been hoping and waiting for Destiny 3 for a long time. If you're not sure of what we want, just ask us and we'll tell you, "Destiny 3 please".
Bungie leadership should absolutely be $hi!!ing bricks right now. Destiny 2 is at its lowest daily player count in years and Marathon looks to be DOA. They don't seem to be able to put together a cohesive strategy to retain veteran players in Destiny or to attract new players interested in either Destiny or Marathon. That sounds like a company in distress to me.
I wonder if sony is especially furious with bungie right now due to all their live service initiatives flopping despite bungie "advising" these projects. I wonder if bungie was advising concord. I wonder if bungie ever suggested canceling concord or if they instisted on forging ahead. Remember how they "advised" that the last of us live service game be canceled? I wonder just how bad that had to actually be in order to warrant that--or rather, I wonder "IF" it was that bad. I wonder if they saw that game as a threat... >Inb4 "you're just schizo, bro" Now hold up, we KNOW that Bungie is not the best at reading what the audience/playerbase wants. We also KNOW that Bungie management can be an especially capricious and petty bunch. I wouldn't put it past them anymore to abuse the trust and power placed in them to quash "threats." Reminder, concord was pushed out and fairgame$ is being pushed out, but TLOU live service was cancelled before apparently a working title could even be made. Two obviously terrible looking games that would likely appeal to no-one--and in the case of concord, indeed did appeal to no-one--got pushed through. But a game with an already existent, very large, fanatically loyal fanbase got cancelled. Something doesn't add up here.
Flip it into PVE. Make it FPS cyberpunk Helldivers. It's an easy fucking fix that leans into Bungie's actual strengths of PVE design and storytelling, instead of their weaknesses of all things PVP. The people there now are not the people that slapped together a banger of PVP onto Halo 2 at the last minute, and a gutted AAA studio clearly won't devote resources into teams to actively combat PVP cheating. Helldivers and Marathon could be HUGE franchises going forward for Sony (a 1-2 punch of third person and FPS PVE extraction shooter RPGs) if they don't allow these studios to shoot themselves in the feet with their own backwards ass decisions (Nerfdivers & PVP).
I am a Lover of Destiny 1 and 2, but ill admit my own bias towards Marathon. I don't see a scenario where Marathon is canceled to be likely. To much Money and work has been put into it for it to be wise for Bungie or Sony to cancel Marathon. Bungie is losing money and marathon is their one new product. Launching the game at the $40 price point would allow them to get sales from release rather than relying on microtransactions. Additionally the comparison to Concord is convenient but not logical. They are two different genres from 2 radically different studios. Firewalk's only game was concord, while Bungie is an established studio with multiple successful IP's. A better comparison would be to Crytek's Hunt Showdown. A successful extraction shooter born from the studio that brought Crysis to life. Seems similar to what bungies is trying. If Marathon fails it wont be a celebration day for Destiny 2 players. Bungie will have lost millions that will be reflected in Destiny.
Bungie has really backed itself into a corner. They neglected Destiny for too long in favour for other titles, and now the majority of the player base will just outright refuse to play Marathon as a form of punishment. They either have to swing hard into improving D2 or making a D3 or just give up and dissolve.

Bungie is in real trouble with games like Once Human and Forever Winter and honestly? They deserve it.
Live service only works if its gameplay is something exciting, fun, rewarding, and replayable. Extraction shooters as they are right now do not fit all these criteria at once. However: if bungie manages to pull off those criteria for Marathon, then the game will do just fine
Bungie should have made Marathon not just PVP, but also have an offline single-player campaign with a compelling narrative and options to play in co-op/co-op missions with its cool-looking art style. This would fill out Sony's portfolio, having a multiplayer shooter and a single-player campaign, that's not third-person like other PlayStation games. This is just an idea and an opinion.
Where I see Marathon fumbling is extractions regardless of how casual or more rigorous they are need constant maintenance and tuning of rules, systems, mechanics to have things feel worth engaging. Considering Bungie has a bit of a track record of letting issues fester even when they had multiple studios help and were more stable, I am very wary of their treatment of this kind of game type. That lame excuse of "pardon our dust, we're new at this, who knew game dev could be so hard?" etc is not going to be a good look when we're back to more of the same poor treatment Destiny received over the years. I can also see issues if there's too much gatekeeping and limiting factors through Bungie trying to cram some cockamamie dripfeed live service element to it. That being said with a blank slate and infinitely less variables compared to something like Destiny, that could allow more of a core focus with less tabs open but again this is not really a game genre that works if you spend more time trying to ship out the cash shop items and less on glaring issues in your sandbox. CoD's DMZ ran into this when there was basically no good rewards, the grueling quests offered nothing really exciting, it was too easy to start/restart with all your potent stuff, mechanics like certain vehicles, abundant cash, UAV towers, 6 man platoons etc, general neglect ruined the experience. With the comment over Frontiers and the "metroidvania, survival game", idk if there's that much too it. Even the "rogue-like" seasonal activities in Destiny have been pretty generous with the labeling and not a pound for pound experience. I feel like survival game would be a mode that brings back something like the old ammo system for the activity, limited ammo pickups, white primary boxes no infinite ammo, to seem different but it's nothing like we haven't seen.
But us hardcore players like fan service lol. We don't really care about new player acquisition, though more bodies to fill pvp lobbies quicker is always welcomed. While they do need a better new light experience, it shouldn't come at the cost of making stuff for the hardcore players. The best new player acquisition method is a Destiny 3, I feel like at this point if someone hasn't tried D2 yet they're never going to no matter how much the onboarding experience is improved unless it's for a full sequal where they can start from scratch alongside everyone else.
i don't know how everyone is so clueless about this game. Half of the people talking about it think it's an overwatch clone which it clearly isn't going to be, the other half of people are just saying it's going to be garbage because "nobody wants a sweaty game like Tarkov". The only other extraction shooter people have to compare this game to is Tarkov which this game is obviously not going to be like. I can guarantee you this game isn't going to be as sweaty and hardcore as Tarkov is. I hate that people are saying the game should be canceled when we have no idea what it's going to be like.
we have a pretty good idea. Bungie makes the same game over and over. We know it'll be microtransaction hell. We know it will be live service. That's enough for me to pass
If they went with that same DRIPPY aesthetic and made it a single player game first and foremost- and a co-op game second? yes pls Anything else? Nah. Maybe a true loot based extraction shooter w/ cyberpunk pastel aesthetics and EfT style of progression. But even then I don’t think that’ll really be a big winner for Sony and Bungie
It kinda sad cuz I think bungie developing marathon was a mistake but I also think that marathon would be a cool game. Bungie has historically been a top notch gunplay developer and back in halo a pretty good pvp development team, so I’d love to see what a marathon game would look like. But when they go and leave their money making machine to die to try and make other money machines it just doesn’t make any sense. Maybe put marathon on the shelf for now until you fix your only game that is making you money then once you get that fixed you can try marathon again
I feel like whenever a bad live service flops people quickly pounce on it and rightfully so. But good live service games do well and no one bats an eye. But when 1 fails people will cry they hate live service…we’ll do you because clearly some do well. Publishers just can’t get live service right because LS is usually code for bare bones game at launch. If you give someone a meaty game at launch, promise that can be kept of more content, does not have predatory micro transactions (more ways to spend money in game than content), game is marketed well and the game is not a buggy broken mess at launch…can most likely do well. These aren’t even hard feats to accomplish. But publishers love games to be virtual store fronts than they want them to be games. Destiny 1 was the most disrespectful game I played when it came to that. Game has 1/8 of a normal games content and they went oh you want us to complete the game that’ll be $40+ for DLC. I promised to never support a game they put out after that.
Bungie has put me off any live service games with the way they have made Destiny 2. Bungie's Marathon ("this game isn't for you!"), well guess what, I won't be touching Marathon and give up D2... so good luck with that business choice.
I mostly just like single player campaigns, as soon as I found out Marathon wasn’t that, I lost all interest. But I’m probably in the minority as someone who just likes single player games
Would you even try Marathon if it releases, even if it's not f2p? Would you even be able to play Marathon? I wonder if Bungie is gonna act like Valve with their VAC bans across all their games.
@@ReforgeGaming no one is doing it. The quote "game is cooked" has many meanings and interpretation. That's even a rumor nothing first hand. ...to build a video and title on that statement is just trying to go for the drama and clickbait money. We both know that.

it's sad that Marathon might be cancelled, it looked really interesting and i was looking forward to the game, might've been the first extraction shooter i would've played plus if they do merge it in destiny, i won't be playing Destiny, i hate the game and what i liked about marathon is that you could customize your operator like you want the guns are what matters but on destiny your character will look like a clown for most of the game unless you grind like you have nothing else but i have a job and a wife, i don't have time to grind like a moffo
they never said they werent doing expansions. they just didnt announce anything. Maathon is likely to be a hit. bungie made halo and destiny which whether you think so or not, is a good game. the narrative is weird right now and they are in a bad place with the microtransactions, but the game is good. the gunplay is awesome, the environments are amazing, the raids/dungeons are best in class.... only in class. i think a more likely scenario is that marathon does something new and innovative. and people like it. and the scope is much smaller than destiny so it'll take less people to run once its out.
marathon was a failure from the start. they had zero ambition or direction. little to no marketing no interest from the community no info on the game or what its genre is even supposed to be. nothing.
I hope so. I was only excited becuase I thought it was a reboot, not a multiplayer class based shooter. How much of that we need. I just want to feel that classic Bungie FPS gameplay again. Destiny sucks. Halo sucks. Bungie ruins everything they create if you give them time. YES. I know Bungie hasn't made Halo since Reach, but they left it didn't they.
Removing feelings from destiny 2 and looking at extraction shooters the mass majority of gaming community don't play them long it's not going to stay for long especially when it hasn't give anything breath of gameplay in it
I love playing dark and darker, I love playing the cycle! I want more and i really feel like there is a void to be filled in the extraction genre. But i dont trust bungie to do it right and an extraction shooter game is very hard to get right, i feel like they are going to push too hard for pvp when pve is also fun.
Marathon would’ve been a guaranteed success had bungie not spat on all of its D2 player base repeatedly. But they did, and I’m not buying marathon til it’s been out for 6 months while I wait and see how Pete and the rest of the bungie execs try to ruin it too.
My hot take is, get sony to pony up for a port of D1 for next gen and steam with a FoV slider and start from the ground up with Destiny 3. Its one of thoes things, jump off the sinking ship early enough to try and salavage the franchise
The only new hero shooter I'm going to actually play is marvel rivals and that other one by valve, mostly cause my friend won't stop nagging me to play it.
Who knows, I think it's pretty safe to say everyone believes this is gunna flop. While it would be nice to have more Destiny, that would also be the problem. They don't listen to the community until the game is about to die. Even then its not like they make changes that benefit the consumer. Transmog is still fucked, no maps, no strikes (and no these seasonal activities are not strikes and dont make for fun GMs). They artificially make the game "worse/harder" with champions and it isnt fun. Idk man, even though theres a new campaign out every 18 months, the game is still largely the same, without the old raids we use to have and im still very much upset about that. Yet theyll fuck with the way shaders are presented? Give me a break. Im not gunna play again until I an hop back into Scourge.

That would be their smart choice to do that.
They already too late for that
They need it to do that on 2022 not start on 2025 to finish it close to 2030
Just do what I did finished the master witness finish the 10 year saga
Let it fade away

I don’t trust bungie with a new destiny game, every time they do a new destiny game it takes a year or two before it’s actually playable and if that happens again bungie would be actually dead.
I agree a total refresh needs to happen but a D3 scares me a bit. I think it needs to happen but I’m not sure it would end well
@@sora_2342 Destiny 3 scares Bungie too so there's that.
I hope it's actually canceled. If it does come out and gets the Concord treatment, it'll look real bad on Sony.
yup, can't keep launching failed live service games
I wonder if Sony are considering getting Firewalk involved in Bungie projects. It might be easier now with the clean out of the old guard.
yeah give firewalk something worth building tho
There will be layoffs.
That first trailer was so cool, before I knew it was an extraction shooter
To repurpose it as a game mode in Destiny would be a great idea. Especially if they swap it out with gambit.
The playerbase has dwindled for D2 and rightly so, but it’ll always have an existing following that are easier to please than a new game on the market that potentially could end up like Concord.
will be interesting to see if they do
@@ReforgeGaming I know they don’t want to be a “one game only” sort of team but it’s what they need to continue doing for now. Get Destiny back to the wonder and magic of the D1 days. All hands on deck making that happen. People want to see that more.
I like this idea
Screw you! Gambit is the only good game mode!
Hey, the 13 of us who still play Gambit object to this!!
Actually, I think they should release the game. Fairgame$ as well. Let these companies learn the hard way. Lets not act like we give a darn about Bungie or any of these companies that chase trends but won’t listen to player feedback or acknowledge player engagement. They’re going to have to come up with a different method for live service games.
coming up with a different method yes, launching games you know will fail? no
Don't make it an extraction shooter? I don't know
Far as I’m concerned the Bungie that was, is now dead. Or at least a former shell of itself.
many feel that way
Though this a while ago, just before Concord was cancelled… Marathon should be a competitive PvP mode for Destiny.
I don't think this game is going to do all that well, either.
i think the same, not gonna make it
We haven’t even seen gameplay and ppl want it cancelled, can we at least see it first💀
because current insanity in and around games is out of control and ruled and driven by activists.
Agreed. There was mad skepticism around Destiny before it came out. I did play tests at Bungie during the development, and I was honestly not SUPER excited after a few prelim playtests. I left feedback, so did everyone else, and look at what it’s become. No reason they can’t do the exact same thing with Marathon.
Literally all hate for marathon is simply from the schizo destiny fans that complain about literally everything for no reason.
They need to can it all. Bungie original devs are looking at the IP they originally started and thinking WTF is happening.
Who says Marathon is NOT selling for $40, because I heard that's EXACTLY what it was rumored to sell for.
@@henram36 i didn't say it wasn't
Couldn't agree more. If there was more evidence towards Marathons cancelation then I could understand, but there's no real evidence. If Marathon fails it will be reflected on Destiny 2. The hate on this game is too much we haven't even seen gameplay. I'll never understand why no one talks about Hunt Showdown, the closest game to Marathon out right now.
Found the Bungie dev.
No one wants your new game!
@@Ooooo1678 huh?
that lawyer really said FU Destiny content creators.
lol
You raise interesting points in this video - salvaging that work and reimagining it as a mode in established IP makes a lot of sense.
Great work
Thank you sir!
Morning all
good morning!
Sony really is unlucky with these live service studios. Firewalk, Bungie, Haven, Deviation. Everything is only creating flops and drain money.
i think they wanted the talent more than the games
@@ReforgeGaming so they bought the studios with the mythical "talent" now what? keep releasing trash?
We don't need it
yup
You don’t
Great piece Reforge, views are spot on
thank you, Kat!
I believe Marathon should be next on the chopping block.
helldivers 2 is proof his push wasnt completely wrong headed, they just need to course correct from concord
@@ReforgeGamingtotally agree, I wouldn't suggest all the live service games were a bad idea, I just think he overcommitted. They need to pull back on some of these projects. That's what I'm getting at
I like what you’re putting down. If they pursue marathon it’s going to be a costly flop
I actually wanted marathon to exist based on the previous series
I just want a story focused marathon game....
I dont believe that. Destiny is a sink ship. Marathon is the only thing that Bungie have currently, potential flop or not. If they start a new game now it will take a long time for it to generate revenue. I don't think the studio would survive that.
Destiny hasnt sunk yet. Its taking on water but a competent crew could save it.
Damn once you drop a video Marathon news starts coming out.
I hope they don’t cancel it and they keep it as a live service PvP extraction shooter
I say this with love & respect
Bungie needs to cancel marathon & 100% focus on *DESTINY*
I'm actually surprised if Marathon is cancelled. Bungie had acted like this was their next big thing and seemed soooo excited to pursue it.
all signs point to major problems and now destiny 2 is getting a refocus of content and bandwidth
The problem is that nobody was excited about it. Turning a classic single player IP like Marathon into a PVP live service game? LMAO.
I just want Ubisoft to remaster Tom Clancy’s Spintercell: Blacklist 😭😭 fucking loved that stealth game so much.
Dear Pete Parsons, we don't want a Genshin, World of Warcraft or Minecraft style game. We've been hoping and waiting for Destiny 3 for a long time. If you're not sure of what we want, just ask us and we'll tell you, "Destiny 3 please".
Dear Pete Parsons...please resign.
Man this game has crazy visuals and cool artnl direction. Looked interesting
but bungie wrote the whole article on theirs page after the layoffs that they work on destiny, marathon and one more game with sony...
The “story” has been so lacklustre that ditching big campaigns would be a great idea
They should abond destiny 2 all together.
Players are absolutely curious about marathon. They should be able to make some money off of it if they just put in some scantily clad skins as usual.
That's some wild speculation...
>Inb4 "you're just schizo, bro"
Now hold up, we KNOW that Bungie is not the best at reading what the audience/playerbase wants. We also KNOW that Bungie management can be an especially capricious and petty bunch. I wouldn't put it past them anymore to abuse the trust and power placed in them to quash "threats."
Reminder, concord was pushed out and fairgame$ is being pushed out, but TLOU live service was cancelled before apparently a working title could even be made.
Reminder don't trust anyone until the game comes out or officially cancelled
Can’t believe they’re putting destiny on the back burner for something that will probably flop
Live service only works if its gameplay is something exciting, fun, rewarding, and replayable. Extraction shooters as they are right now do not fit all these criteria at once. However: if bungie manages to pull off those criteria for Marathon, then the game will do just fine
Not sure when you recorded this but they kinda already confirmed that #1 it won’t be canceled #2 it’s confirmed to NOT be a hero shooter
Cancel this game or else
or else what? lol
great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Have Destiny absorb all the maps, dedicated servers, gun models and weapons from Marathon.
Just take Marathon and repurpose it into Destiny. Do the Call Of Duty Warzone tactic and package it as a stand alone add on.
As a D1 and D2 player for 10 years, I will not buy or play Marathon.
If you don’t like Gambit, you aren’t going to like Marathon! Marathon will be Gambit on steroids
If they went with that same DRIPPY aesthetic and made it a single player game first and foremost- and a co-op game second? yes pls
Anything else? Nah. Maybe a true loot based extraction shooter w/ cyberpunk pastel aesthetics and EfT style of progression. But even then I don’t think that’ll really be a big winner for Sony and Bungie
If they make Destiny 3, they'll make more money than Destiny 1 & 2 combined.
Maybe the PS5 Pro will save it LOOOOL
lol, it cant save everything!
@@ReforgeGaming the PS5 Pro ( 4070 ) can do anything 🤣🤣
Bungie has put me off any live service games with the way they have made Destiny 2. Bungie's Marathon ("this game isn't for you!"), well guess what, I won't be touching Marathon and give up D2... so good luck with that business choice.
I mostly just like single player campaigns, as soon as I found out Marathon wasn’t that, I lost all interest. But I’m probably in the minority as someone who just likes single player games
i dont think they need to cancel. by the look they used alot of destiny assets, code and will use whatever for future destiny content.
Would you even try Marathon if it releases, even if it's not f2p? Would you even be able to play Marathon? I wonder if Bungie is gonna act like Valve with their VAC bans across all their games.

Let's ignore every other red flag about the game and only mention one thing.

Maathon is likely to be a hit. bungie made halo and destiny which whether you think so or not, is a good game. the narrative is weird right now and they are in a bad place with the microtransactions, but the game is good. the gunplay is awesome, the environments are amazing, the raids/dungeons are best in class.... only in class. i think a more likely scenario is that marathon does something new and innovative. and people like it. and the scope is much smaller than destiny so it'll take less people to run once its out.
marathon was a failure from the start.
they had zero ambition or direction.
little to no marketing
no interest from the community
no info on the game or what its genre is even supposed to be.
nothing.

Well done vid btw
Thank you!
is it too much to ask for a singleplayer game
I was interested in the art style if nothing else
