Best version I've ever heard!
I'm only familiar with the work of a couple of these gents, but that's why channels like Studio Jams are so important: you get introduced to a lot of great talent you might not have been aware of previously, and you get to see them in the deep end of the pool and enjoying themselves immensely. Thank you for a great cover of Birdland.
Super interprétation j’adore 👍
Can I like this again? You can tell Stef just loves this song, he gets everybody playing so melodically at the end there.
So great to see so many sick musicians playing through such beautiful changes together.
Huge shoutouts to Joe Zawinul et al.
Peppino has amazing comping skills. Fucking sweet. Fucking nailed the guitar-alto sax unison breakdown. Yes.
B R A V O !
So much fun to hear just one more version of this classic.
Che coppia fantastica Peppino e Stef...👍😎👏👏👏👏 Hanno fatto cose bellissime insieme...io ho avuto il piacere e l'onore di conoscere Peppino ed è un grande musicista...una persona meravigliosa...👏👏
Marc Russo is the man
Great Seeing Jackie King here!
Stef Burns...of Y&T fame! Love Stef! Great chops...
best schooling for music on the internet the world...awsome!!
There arec no show-offs here...just a terrific tight sound...
Reeeeaaaally good, but I need a Jaco bass on birdland :)
Love the little shot of "Listen Here" around the two minute mark. Very cool.
Thank you Jaco.
Yeah! So cool and funky!
Go Steph!! Awesome playing!!
WTF this is so freaking amazing
In che senso scusami?
*We need MORE guitars*
Thank you, thank you, Studio Jams, you have given me so much pleasure , raised my spirits so many times. What a beautiful attitude you guys have toward making music.
the original track ends before the 7 minute mark
Whoa. Fantastic, gents, fantastic, with Marc Russo putting a cherry on the cake at 10:40. Dang. How does his brain come up with such statements? Wham!
I know, right?! He’s phenomenal.
Breathless.
Nicely done, guys!
totally amazing....
Wicked jam! These guys are so talented
Really love this vibe..... awesome..... Thanks for sharing
Fabulous musicians.
Amazing musicians!! Great job guys, you sound so expressive ;)
The Best Dominant 7 key of G Jam ever.
Saw Weather Report many times in the 1970's
with Jaco and Wayne and Joe Z.
Saw Peppino rip some McClaughlin too.
On acoustic "Visions of the Emerald Beyond"
Peppino is a master guitarist & composer.
Peppino used to play FUSION electric guitar in cover bands.
This is great. Thank you!
wonderful
Saw Russo as a member of the Yellow Jackets at "Ethel's Place" in Baltimore, MD in the mid 80's. He was awsome then and now. Was disappointed when he exited the group.
Amazing
Local SF Bay Area journeymen. Awesome.
Thank you for sharing
These boys do Joe Zawinul proud.
These are talented bunch of musicians, Weather Report would be proud I’m sure.
VERY NICE WORK!!! Love this song, heard a Basement version that was like produced and almost all head but this is good. Some really brilliant flourishs, most guitarists suck compared to their wind/keyboard counterparts but thus Stef Burns 4 parts out of 6 was great, one part in the solo that basic dead pentatonic hammering cut it, and the part before the ending was really tame, the guitar and sax could not Q&A, the acoustic Peppino guy had a really spunky chord vamp going, and OMG the King himself,
had flashes of shredding brilliance which unfortunately he too often hid with his pattern repeating/shape shifting, and some really inspired fills and wailing but the sax
altogether as a jazz guitarist who loves this song
Great Version, Thank You
Great stuff!
Jammiest of jams
Great...more Jackie.
Grande D AGOSTINO SEI UN MITO
Cool guys!!!
Nice treatment y'all.
wow!
much more interesting than the original
mucho mucho bueno!
That's fucking amazing
wow~~~top.
:) If you liked this, then you might enjoy the LP Peppino & Stef recorded on Steve Vai's record label. The LP is called "Bayshore Road". It also features Shelia E. on some tracks. There are eight originals on the LP with covers of "Jerry's Breakdown" and, of course, "Birdland".
and Birdland was originally recorded by the Manhattan Transfer-but stops before the 6:30 mark
Number 30 is my favorite so far. Very different from East Coast jams, not as aggressive, yet energetic and harmonically rich. ECM-ish in openness, they can play many genres, and everyone holds back when it's not their tur. And the electrics never dominate the acoustic..
The West Coast has better "weed".
that's being very polite, especially when it's not your turn to come in. 🙂
Arte!
Smookkin'!!
Nice version !...
Fanfuckingtastic ! Greetings from The Philippines.
I wonder what kind of compressor was used on the strat - it has a kind of controlled percussive sound that is interesting.
The only thing I miss here is a bass
agreed
@@wertj3977 David Ewell is on bass
@@Belchmaster41 but he's down in the mix?
@@bcclark yup can hardly hear the double bass needs an electric bass for this piece
Stef questi ti fregano...
gently gently
Why Stef Burns looks like the 2006 John Mayer
super stef burns grande suono
Bruh...✅✅✅
whats with the sound of his strat ?
Its compressed within an inch of its life.
Yahoo .. u-beaut says Tez Almighty from Down Under👍 .. all gtrs/no keys!
Love how they don't show the bassist at all in the second half of the video
If Jaco was there, he'd have stolen the show, dancing all over the room and stuff. Then probably finish by throwing his bass at the drummer.
Idk what thats supposed to mean... but ok
Just that a bassist has to be flashy if they want to get any attention.
oh ok, that is true
i see nathan east on drum, really ?
Frans Sembiring LoL
Who knew Corey Booker could play drums lol
Drummer looks like Nathan East
This rocks, but it's weird how passive that dude is on upright. He needs some caffeine.
