- Here is one of several tracks from Studio Jams Episode #75, taped at Forge Recording Studios in Oreland, PA (USA). It features guitarist Kevin Hanson, saxophonist Grace Kelly, bassist Chico Huff, keyboardist Matt King, and drummer Tracy Alexander. It was taped on March 21, 2016. For more on the series, go to www.StudioJams.com.
that LH RH doubling by the keys player during his solo....mind blowing
Wow, this group is so relaxed yet they play near perfection.
Actually to me, it sounds kind of stiff like a bunch of trained college musicians doing graded performances. Listen to Jaco do it live. I have played this tune with way more groove at gigs.
Awesome. Great bass player
Chico's a groove master, for sure.
This Studio Jams phenomenon is absolutely amazing!! 😮
This whole series is great, always excellent players on all instruments.
Watching all these studio jams over again while in quarantine.. anyone else doing the same! Haha
Yip
Watched them all also. Inside, outside, and without any quarantine or fear. It’s so much better that way.
Got me jazz laughing to tears! Cat on sax took me down, killed me not only with the notes played but the unpretentious tone of the horn . . . pulled the rug from underneath me! Hesitatory syncopation in keyboard solo put a smile on me. It's raining in Phoenix today but the sun is blossoming in my heart. Thanks, good cats, thanks!
Go Chico...go!!! man!! I love Chicos playing!!!
matt king calling the chicken in a studio jam again....
love it
Love the way, how drums find the Part to Every solo. Amazing, man.
GREAT HAMMOND organ player. NICE band, fabulous music.
A real cool "temporary" take on this classic tune. Brilliant.
7:16 fearful moment!
Just little tipsy...😳
The opening lick to that sax solo is cool. I'm taking that and dropping it tonight when we play this at rehearsal 😁 thanks! Good version!
An other great song with great mucisians. We have see this song 3 times on this channel but this song is GREAT. Thanks for this vidéo. :)
i love this guys, great motivation thanks
practicing hard to be able to sit in with this guys and gals someday
Tastey version of a classic. That drummer is greazy! !
cool arrangement and musicianship
Top music. Greetings from Belgium.
Was pleasantly surprised when I noticed a young Grace Kelly.
super funky, very nice! master musicians :)
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!
That was amazing amazing!
Da keys are sublime
Go girl..Grace you have done it again.
Good saxophonist !! And bassist Chico Huff : 0
that girl is blowing that sax!!!
Great bridge section
Grooooving Bass ! 😋
Wow. Snap. so good!!
The outro is sooo cool
This is one of the more smoother versions of this song that I have heard. Good Work guys!! Chico Huff is playing the hell out that Sire Marcus Miller V7 bass which really sounds good for a man who usually plays Ken Smith basses.
th bass... omg
You dont need to spend much money on a good Instrument, Ive got a fretless which cost me €270 secondhand and iT just has that fat sound
Smooth and Sassy. Would like to see and hear you at "The Blue Note" on West 3rd St., in New York City. You'd find a warm welcome there.
Yep!
I'm like no not another chicken! But I loved it nice job guys and gal!
C'mon now ... this is the USA, somebody ate the last one! :D
Très Très Bien en avant en avant il faut suublimer 💪❤️😉´🌞
my favorate play
King Chico!
dear god chico that ... just ... that !!!
HOT jam guys! Really super! And great advice at the intro. by the drummer. Get into the fire, get out in front of crowds often...and play under pressure, with a lot of different musicians. Practice improvisation.
Copy the greats of the past. You'll learn and grow enormously, and be more relaxed. Thx.
Sublime,Pro
Very very Great 🇮🇹👍
Belo som !!
Saxophone dreams 💘
One of the rare jams where the bass gets a solo!
way to go grace!!!!!!!!
i wanna get thrown in the fire too but theres no fire here
Brandon Inu No fire my ass...this isnt bad at all...give it a few more listens...no ones perfect and not everyone is a "beast"...I'm digging this shi..
Robot Champion sorry I meant my physical location
Bassist is a boss!
Keep starting them whenever possible 🎶
Good one! thanks for the chuckle and I can relate
Without any doubt tracy alexander is the Most unrecognized Greatest drummer of this century this cat Is the total Package I had the Extreme pleasure of having 3 Private lessons with his Legendary Father Mouse Alexander and Tracy is a chip off the ole block but even greater He will blow your mind
James Brown e seu legado
Grace Kelly kills it.
I thought Grace Kelly was older...
Great session!!!
My only complaint...why the typical band drop out for the bass solo?
Bass solos are just like any other instrument..i always prefer FULL band backup if i solo...just saying...but fantastic playing to all!!!!
Because if we don't drop out we can't hear your ass. Also, it's usually the bass solo that "stands out" sonically, because it's the whole low end suddenly gone, so like, wtf are we supposed to do other than give you room?
A bass solo with the whole band would sound awful. I play jazz bass and 90% of the time I refuse a solo because bass solos almost always take away from the song.
lol you might have problems with your own playing tough
They still gave him a great comp, I was expecting less.
I’m somewhere in the middle on this - don’t really favour the whole band jumping in on my solo, but always love some light comping from guitar and/or keys.
What is the name of the sax player? Grace Kelly?
Charles Barry yes!!!!
DEMAIS, o som desse pessoal.
Damn! No Really…. DAMN!
Grace Kelly is a BEAST!!!
Was your dad Ray Alexander? He played vibes and gave me my first drum lessons in the late 50s.
great gtr solo but a clean boost wouldnt hurt at all, turn it up !!!!
Nice comments in here
it's the notes that you don't play. Grace Kelly superb!
I like it! Tastes just like chicken!! :)
I'm waiting for someone to write the turkey song. Lol
All Greats but the Bassist is unbelievable...Who is?
That would be Chico Huff. Such a wonderful musician. Chico has appeared on a number of different Studio Jams episodes.
Alberto Olivieri Notice he's playing a great solo on FOUR STRINGS! If you're really that good, that's all you need.
@@lawrencegenereux8567 Preference, and application. I prefer a a four string bass. I play blues rock, alternative, and a little punk.
@Lawrence Genereux you might count those strings again because I see 5... and it’s still a great solo.
Chris Hasty yeah, it’s a 5-string. See the tuning peg on the underneath there?
Any one know the brand of the guitar?
I believe that is a plain vanilla Washburn J-6....probably the best $ 450...(used)...hollowbody workhorse out there)....Cort Yorkvilles are nice too. laminste body and a tiny bit heavy...but in the hands of Mr. Hanson thats a nice box!!. I see he is using the metal tune-a-matic bridge...They come with both steel and wood bridges. Good axe!
Mice talk, man, haha I meant "nice talk"
where to start !!! .. pretty much everyone is having a good day here ... if this is the take from the studio ... well then fuck me if this aint gorgeous... sign me up
great stuff guys.. could you tell me the turnaround chords that matt agreed to from the bass player.. im trying to learn the song in my basement....hammond b3 and synth ... 6 track... thanks guys
I think, just from looking its Eb7, Db7, C7, B7 then back to the top. I could be wrong but I hope this helps!
BulletSpoung A-ha, a hole peeper! :)

76 Deaf people? 😏
Why does everyone play this jam too fast,? smh, seriously though,it sounds rushed, chill out people, take a listen to the original cut,,,,this riff is way cooler when played slower and relaxed, js
The outro is sooo cool
