  • Today I checked out live concert performance of Iron Maiden and their song Hallowed Be Thy Name. I definitely loved them not only from vocal coach reacts point, but also their energy and crowd participation. The work with contrast is incredible and the sustainability in belting was insane. It was an amazing first time reaction! I was blown away by this performance and super excited by the way they embodied those amazing lyrics in music.

      It's also not actually "live." This stuff is always touched up if not flat out re-recorded when it's gonna be put out as an "official release." The warm tones and perfect mix should always be a dead giveaway. If it were truly live there would be a shrillness to the tone at the very least.

      @MetalMike87 3 роки тому +23

      @@corey8711 honestly man, you dont know what you're talking about. Iron Maiden have played more thant 2'200 gigs. Bruce has been their primary singer for let's say 80% of their schedule, you can do the math. Add his solo career and we can say you are witnessing a 50 years old singer with 2'000 gigs under his belt, singing the last encore of a 2hrs set. And if you were familiar with IronMaiden you will definitely know this is not re-recorded: he had some mishaps here and there which he overcame with class as always. Should he rerecord it in studio would be impossible to fake.

    First of all, thank you so much for reacting to the legendary Iron Maiden. Like many of the other comments, now you’ve heard Bruce sing in his later years it would be brilliant if you could compare this performance to his famous one in 1982 at Hammersmith in London. He has greatly changed his singing style over the years to prolong his voice but, as a young man, his live vocals were unbelievable. If you think he likes to hold onto long notes in this performance, you’ll love what he did back in ‘82! Thanks again and loved the reaction.

      Katrina, Bruce has been belting out the vocals like this for his first band Sampson since around 1975. Then he joined Maiden in 1982, he took a little break for a few years in the 90's, then came back to Maiden doing this kind of singing every since then. I didn't hear how long you have been doing your singing & being a vocal coach? Bet you loved Maiden also.

I'm a bass and guitar player, and was always taught not to let my pinky 'fly away' from the fretboard when playing, but tons of great guitar players (like Maiden's own Dave Murray) do just that and still play amazingly well.

    Katrinka,
    I'm glad that as a vocal coach & singer, you can appreciate Bruce Dickenson's vocals with Iron Maiden. Hallowed Be Thy Name was off Maidens 1982 album Number of the Beast, which was Bruce's first album with the band.
    Now I said that, so I could say this, I would love to hear your thoughts about Bruce's singing on the following Maiden songs. "7th son of a 7th son",,
    "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", "Fear of the Dark, & "Alexander the Great". All live versions please.
    I was also happy to see how you became one with the song, swayed to it, sang a little bit, & you now understand the energy you use in just listening to a Maiden song live. You feel like you just had a workout. Being at a Maiden concert is 3 fold worse, however, the best time you'll ever have. Anyway, I hope you react to those songs above, you won't be disappointed.

    Your reaction and analysis was great. This was the last song of a 17 long track list. Bruce is a great story teller, i would recommend "Dance of Death" from En Vivo 2012 concert.

    Ms Kat, Having seen this band live numerous times, Bruce's voice sounded very tired here, and he still sounded that great. Hearing him live is a whole different experience. His voice can not be captured on recordings properly. He is SO good it leaves you speechless. And their set list is usually 3 hours long. He sounds exactly the same on the last encore most nights. He truly is one of the greatest metal vocalists ever.

    When you look at this kind of performance, you can easily see why none of the band are overweight.
    Something that seems to carry over into most really good rock and metal groups who are truly passionate about their music.

    Good Video, Katriinka! Iron Maiden is one of the few old bands that still plays the songs in the original key, and not dropping it down. That also can tell you, on one part, how awesome Bruce Dickinson is!
