For years, decades people were saying to me "why do you listen to this, it's just a bunch of screaming and yelling". I always knew better.
Same here
Now imagine how Death Metal fans feel.
As a maiden fan, I completely agree. That said, when their songs include lyrics like "bring your daughter to the slaughter," people tend to immediately discount their incredible technical proficiency.
I wish I could scream like that.

Bruce Dickinson kills it. He's an exceptional vocalist singing for an amazing band. Your appreciation of his talent and abilities AND also the band's synchronicity shows that you really can absorb a lot of information in a short time and really understand music without focusing on just a few components. Kudos to you for digesting so much on a first watch
One of the greatest, if not the greatest, live bands you will ever see.
True!
Very true! I saw Iron Maiden Fear of the dark tour in Long Beach, CA and Irvine Meadows, CA also Anthrax opened up and rocked as well💪💪
Agree!!!
They Only band with an actual on-stage "mascot" 😁
Saw them in 2017 in the UK, and they where actually a bit shite, but still ok.
This was in their prime in the 80s, but Bruce Dickenson is still going strong at 60 years old.
I saw them in 2014, I would argue if their prime was in the 80's haha. Bruce did a two hour set running around like a mad man, immediately after flying a WW1 airplane. I was 25, I could not do even one of those things. He was nearly 60 and did both back to back. They all are still killing it!
Chris J touché
@@chrisj7656 You're right, he's still super human! But his highs and the duration of notes aren't the same anymore but the control has maybe improved a bit, which is mind blowing.
World Slavery Tour was their prime. This gig at Hammersmith was shot during Bruce's 5th month with Maiden.
Number Of The Beast wasn't even out yet, that album followed a couple of days later.
They are all still in their prime now!! Sadly one of them in this video is not with us anymore. R.I.P CLIVE BURR!! And I will go to my grave firmly believing that Dave Murray is the most UNDERRATED guitarist of all time!!!!
As a metalhead i believe that many of us watching these reaction videos done by proffesional vocal coaches, it's like getting some kind of validation that indeed rock and metal music has some of the most talented musicians and singers of all time.
Even though we know it's true that's why we listen to these beautifull songs, hearing it from a proffesional vocal coach saying what we always knew was right is so satisfying.
Especially in the world we live today that is dominated by pop music and superficial lyrics and perfomances where nobody seems to notice the quality songs that have been produced and still are being produced to this day by so many bands.
I wish many more people could get a chance to really get to know rock and metal music and see it for the art that it really is and the quality that it has to offer. Thank you Tara, i really enjoy your videos!
My thoughts exactly. The sheer amount of talent in rock/metal is still hugely underappreciated in general when compared to other genres. It's indeed refreshing to see recognition from the "outside".
@@glaucogomes1116 That's right! It seems sometimes that people get bombarded with so many "mainstream" content, pop songs in that case that if they didn't, they would certainly have had a chance to listen some of our music!

@@joemartin7451 Metal lesson! Iron Maiden helped spawn what's known as New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Other bands of that ilk are Judas Priest, Motorhead, Def Leppard, Saxon, the list goes on. BUT! They inspired Speed Metal, Thrash Metal, Power Metal, and Black Metal. Thrash metal being huge in the 80's-90's birthing the Big Four. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax with arguing mentions for Exodus, Death Angel, and a few others.
So. Iron Maiden inspired some of the biggest names in metal history. Hence, they are metal gods.

But, for the most part it is all politics and Maiden is so frowned upon they'll prolly never get in which is blasphemous. I could go on and on but you already know what I would say.

There's nothing special about Iron Maiden. They're just one of the greatest rock/metal bands of all time, that's all. ;)
And not in the R&R HOF which is a travesty. They're my faves so I'm biased but they've influenced many already in - ask them - and just because Maiden wasn't mainstream enough they'll prolly never get in. Beast, Piece & Powerslave should easily be enough to get them in, 3 of the greatest records of all time.
@@arryrocks9167 Priest got snubbed as well - in favor of Bon Jovi. It's a popularity contest and not about who deserves it.
Steve Harrison (the bassist) is Iron Maiden...he is the main writer of their music. Bruce (the singer) is not only a singer but a swordsman, an author, a pilot and a martial artist! He said in an interview years ago that he sings the playlist on skates to keep his breathing strong and in control

@@saschaschneider6355 Agreed, look how long it took KISS to get in. I mean, if you want to talk about icons and influencers...
The thing about Iron Maiden is they can play with this intensity and precision for hours nonstop like it's easy. They were at a skill level we will never see again.
I've seen them live three times, they still are at that same skill level. Bruce's voice has aged, it's true, but like a fine wine, now he's got a rich, warm tenor thing going on.
Iron Maiden was way beyond your typical hair band ,they were somthing much more ..their concerts were a combination of a play ,a musical, an Oprah ect..with the whole show telling the story of the album.
Everything rapped up into one ..the instrumentals were brilliant..amazing vocals and the absolute best bass player in the world . A drummer using a single kicker but sounding like he's using 3 ....Iron Maiden is definitely in a music class of their own .
Brings back memories of the best days in my life ,you can still catch me in my car today blasting Iron Maiden, it never gets old.
Iron Maiden had millions of fans all over the world and I imagine they still do to this day ..
Maiden was NEVER a Hair Band. NWOBHM. Even putting Iron Maiden's name in the same sentence as Hair Metal is sacriligious. :)
I have seen them twice and own all of their albums. Without question: 1. the best band in the world. 2. the best live show on the planet. 3. My favorite band of all time.

What’s really amazing about Maiden is the level of success they’ve achieved with virtually no radio airplay. To my knowledge they’ve never even been nominated for a Grammy.
Yep, even back in the day you would maybe hear Number of the Beast on the local rock station if you were lucky.
Yeah their first nomination (and win) was in 2010 for El Dorado. 30 years after they first released an album.
Metal would have ruled had they ever let the masses know about it. Definitely something going on there.
They have some history on that part...... check out their billboard charts and tables , probably you might have have some clues.....run to hills, bring ur daughter to the slaughter, and the others too....they are too high profile....maiden bros....so even commercialization of the band is Steve's worst nightmare....

Yes fear of the dark
It´s hard to tell, how it feels, when you listen to a vocal analysis of a song, you self have listened to over 36 years, in 2019 ! Best that I just say, thank you, it was a very interesting listening. Bruce at that time was pure, raw power and range, later he became a true master of his instrument as time took it´s toll, it´s mind blowing to think, how he would have sounded, if he had technical ability of today and that golden voice of his youth combined. Well, you grow old and you learn, can´t have them both.
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing!
This song is masterpiece.
Another thing about Bruce Dickinson is that he never got drownded out by the guitar riffs he's still hear him over that and it was just amazing
You can't go wrong with Mr Bruce Dickinson.

You don’t get this kind of intensity in today’s music, it’s phenomenal. Bruce Dickinson is awesome.
You should do a Dio song, The Last In Line or Stargazer
John Starace is you think there’s no bands that match that, you should listen to sabaton or avantasia. You’d really dig them
theres still plenty of metal like this getting released today, just have to look for it. of course you cant find this intensity in mainstream music, it isnt for everyone.
Yes sabaton
bruce has the nickname 'air raid siren' for a reason. he also once shattered a crystal chandelier, possibly the root of how he got the nickname
The nickname was actually an insult after Paul dianno left and fans weren't used to the new singing style, someone wrote a letter to the iron maiden offices and said how dare you replace our favourite singer and ruin our favourite songs with these horrible air raid siren vocals. They liked it and used the insult as a positive
@@alexjohnston8889 Yep, nothing ruins a band like replacing your singer with one of the greatest rock singers of all-time!

Queensrÿche - Take Hold Of The Flame (live in Tokyo 1984)
A young Geoff Tate was a vocal god back then.
I adore Queensryche. Any songs from that show would be great to see. That entire show can be found on UA-cam and in great condition.
And Geoff are still just as good today, saw him just a year back and he was spot on!!
@Gard Lucas Egeberg have you heard the Sweet Oblivion featuring Geoff Tate album yet? Pretty good stuff, one of the better albums of 2019 so far, in my opinion. Geoff sounds great on it :)
Tate was absolutely inhuman back then. The vocal on Take Hold Of The Flame still gives me chills.
I love to see people find and appreciate this band. Especially this song since it's one of my all time favorites and Clive Burr is a monster on the drums, god rest his soul.
Maiden are all masters of their instruments. Bruce is an instrument. The human air raid siren strikes again.
The 2 things that always stand out to me for all Iron Maiden songs are the OUTSTANDING musical talent and INSANE showmanship!!! Going to an Iron Maiden concert was a marathon that left you exhausted and ampped at the same time. JUST WOW!!!!!

Tara is really into what Bruce is doing, from a vocal aspect to performance and breaks it down well. I grew up with Maiden and knew how good and influential it was as a musician...but to watch and hear it now on a video like this of Dickenson in the early 80's it is shocking how good he really was back then. It should be remembered there were no in-ear monitors at that time, and Dickenson doesn't fall off a note even remotely anywhere. I love how she talks about how into the performance the band is and how committed they are emotionally and physically...I think when you see shows of current artists today many of them mimic that but aren't truly there. That's what separates a lot of these classic groups from the modern ones...you can just feel it coming off of that grainy video of them from almost 40 years ago.

It’s funny,I was attending Iron Maiden concerts before most people here were even born lol.
I was at this concert. ☺☺
Lucky you!
For real. Saw Maiden for the 1st time in '82 and have seen them a 1/2 dozen times since. Up the Irons!
First time I saw them was Somewhere in Time. My mom didn’t allow me to go to Powerslave because I was too young, but my older friends went!
@@philiphalpin1997 Wow. That's incredible. What a moment in musical history.
Iron Maiden are still such a great band to see live, they joke around on stage, even play football sometimes, they have an 8-foot mascot that comes on stage, and the music is fantastic! Maiden have really amazing crowds too, always singing along, all brilliant people.
Bruce lives the crowd he takes them on a journey with him awesome!!
