no word of a lie I cheated an english test on the poem by putting in my headphones and putting the song on repeat, I was the only one to get a mark over 80 on that test, I told my teacher how I did it, and he wasn't even mad, he was impressed.

I don't get the hype for Rime of the Ancient Mariner. I just don't feel that song but its all subjective :)
It's all meant to be narrated by the same person. He's condemned to be hanged and at the beginning of the song he is pondering the inevitable. As he's marched towards the gallows he finds himself gibbering and terrified. But as his execution becomes inevitable his belief in an afterlife grows stronger so that by the end of the song he's jubilant that he is going to a better place and that life on Earth is merely "an illusion".
i read somewhere that the song as the 5 stages of the psychology of a person facing death.

Iron Maiden is beyond a metal band, an uncurable addiction! Fear of the Dark for next reaction. Please react to live shows for maiden for they are better live. they have never been into mainstream radios or TVs and commerced. Instead they toured and played town by town, city by city and created their own fan base, millions of Maiden Family

Well, you definitely picked the iconic 1982 performance of this song! I suggest picking something from the 2018-19 tour for your next Maiden reaction, just so you can see how strong they're still going. (The drummer you saw in this video was replaced back in the 80s, and they've got three guitarists now.) Goodness knows they've still got that energy! Bruce Dickinson, the singer, he's also a published author (2 novels and an autobiography), a brewer, a competitive fencer (turned down the chance to try for the British Olympic Team due to touring commitments), a commercial airline pilot who's flown the band on tour in their 747 "Ed Force One", and oh yeah, he beat throat cancer back in 2015.
Why are you telling her to react to 2018/2019 tour? Their voices are gone and they're like 70 years old LMAO.
@@scythianking7315 Because I personally hope like hell that I have half the energy and stamina they do when I reach their ages! (Yes, they're currently all between 62 and 68.) And no, I don't think Bruce's voice is gone. A little changed from the 80s, sure, but considering it's been almost 40 years AND he came back after the throat cancer, I think it's absolutely worth checking out. Also, the 2018-19 tour pulled some old gems out of mothballs, like Flight of Icarus and Sign of the Cross.

Try Rush, Canadian epic band. This is legendary trio. Geddy Lee is playing bass, singing and playing Taurus pedal synthesizer at the same time LIVE. Alex Lifeson is playing guitar, and Neil Peart (RIP) called "The Professor" is playing drums and percussion.

Iron Maiden are one of the legends of Heavy Metal. I saw them for the first time on monster of rock in 88 in Tilburg the Netherland, i have seen them 7x live in concert from 88 to 2006. Other great songs are caught somewhere in time, powerslave, wasted years, revelations, the trooper, number of the beast. Clansman, dance of the death, alexander the great, empire off the clouds, paschendale, phantom of the opera and I can go on and on... keep up the good work.
Ive seen them 6x live now and its amazing cause they are as good now as when I first saw them many years ago. They are the Best live metal band thus far! Up the Irons!! ...and you MsPenPal are a Goddess #Beautiful
They're now quite old men, but *still as dynamic as they ever were*. Nico, on drum, is especially fun to watch in live performance as he's smiling it up from start to finish. They love their gig more than we do.

Sadly, Iron Maiden's drummer at the time this concert was filmed, Clive Burr, is no longer with us. He sadly passed away in 2013 due to Multiple Sclerosis. He played on the first three Maiden albums but was replaced by their current drummer, Nicko McBrain.

Welcome to Bruce Dickinson, the greatest male metal vocalist ever. He is also a commercial airline pilot, world class fencer, and he survived throat cancer! The bass player Steve Harris is also one of the greatest musicians around, and wrote a huge amount of the songs they performed.
You discovered the true goat metal/rock singer Bruce, but also the whole band in my opinion. Every bit of every song is so amazing. These guys are so underrated as musicians because they were barely on the radio in America. I’ve seen them live 2 times and the show they still put on is unbelievable. Great video

Iron Maiden are a world phenomenon. Whether you like their music or not: You have at least to admit that they are masters of their craft. And what a list of masterpieces they have produced...! Listen (for example) to "Empire of the clouds" (their corrent one), or "Seventh son of a seventh son", or "Fear of the dark", or "Paschendale", or "Where the wild wind blows" or... or... They contributed unique songs to the Metal genre - and to music in general. 😎

Every iron Maiden song tells a story. It was one of the things that drew me to them in my youth.
My big sister and her boyfriend took me to see them when i was 13 in 1988 , row 3, deaf for 3 days ive seen them 15+ times since and they are still the best live band going. Bruce is a recognised polymath. Singer, fencer, businessman, author, historian, pilot and a genuinely good guy. 40 years later and after throat cancer he can still smash this song out the park (as everyone knows if you haven't heard it yet the shows not finished) and then the lights come up and you leave whistling along to monty python always look on the bright side of life. (And yes I still see them with my sister and my now brother in law(25 years) but i take my kids now too)

The part that made me think about life and death and what it all means was when I heard this as a kid was when he sang:

First, I'd like to say that you are soooo beautiful and I love your reactions. I've been a Maiden fan since I was 10 years old, in 1980, and I heard their debut, self-titled album. I have seen them on every tour since when they come to London and they just get better with age, like a good Scotch whisky. If you're up for a history lesson as you listen to great music, may I suggest The Trooper, Alexander the Great, Paschendale and Empire of the Clouds for future Maiden reactions. I agree with all the comments that say Iron Maiden are best seen live, but with these songs you may want to start with the studio versions and follow the lyrics. This will allow you to understand the concept of the song and appreciate how well the music and lyrics capture the story. The same goes for The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. You rock, beautifully🤘
