The General Idea on how this Home Karaoke System works:
The Smart TV plays the video and at the same time sends the Karaoke Music Audio portion to the mixer through the Optical Cable and Optical Connectors. The mixer also takes the vocal input from the microphones, and then combines the Karaoke Music and the vocal and sends that combined sound to the Sound Bar or Speakers, also through the Optical Connectors. The Sound Bar/Speaker then plays the Karaoke Music and your voice simultaneously with the lyrics on the Smart TV. Notice that in this set-up, there is no need to have a Digital to Analog converter because I am using a Digital/Optical signal all the way through.

Thank you for this! I’ve been searching on how to use a sound bar and what little equipment I need to do this at home! I will order this mixer and get a sound bar! Hope it works!!🤞🏼🤞🏼
Hope it works. Link to Amazon is in the description.
This guy teaches us like a 3 year old kid! And that's the way it should be done! U just made a difficult calculus subject to a simple single digit addition. We can follow it step by step without assuming that we already know what youre trying to explain. TYVM!
Thanks for the feedback. That was intentional, because there are thousands of viewers and many of them are not techie at all. If you are a more advance and techie user, you are gonna have to be patient watching the details and maybe skip some :)
great explanation. very usful. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedbacc. Glad you find it helpful.
This is what I'm looking for. Thanks a lot.
Great!
Thank You for showing your setup, with wireless mic and digital connection.
You're welcome.
Very well explained Joe. I ordered the mics that you suggested. Hopefully I can set it up without any problem. Thank you Joe
You’re welcome & thanks for dropping a note!
Hi, Joe
I received my mics today and set it up with my Samsung sound bar. However I’m experiencing delays when singing. Please advise. Thank you
Hi. You can try trying these troubleshooting guides. Changing channels, disconnecting and reconnecting. If none works, I suggest calling their tech support: www.soundtown.com/products/swm16-pro
Interestingly, I have never experienced delays in my unit, so I am not very helpful in solving delays :)
I had the same issue. It also sounded a bit staticky. I’m returning.
@@leakhenaouk3429 does it matter which brand of soundbar you are using? Been planning to buy soundtown mixer and now I am stuck with this issue (delays when singing).
Thank you so much. Great video with clear explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
The number one selling features of this wireless mic is that, it as optical Input and Output that goes to any optical input of the sound bar. That makes your system karaoke right away. :) I'm still using the digital to analog converter to any speaker input or mic input to come out to the speaker.I know they going to make this is just, I didn't discover yet not until now. Thanks for sharing Brad :)
You’re welcome. Check out the new video too that uses HDMI-ARC. It’s even better except that there are limited options on the mixer models.
Mabuhay kabayan! Glad that I found your channel. I will set up my system next time with your guide. 👍
Sounds great. Let me know kung may issues/questions ka. Enjoy! :)

This is a great and simple. Thanks for this detailed video, I was able to use this setup.
Here is awesome explanation. I bought the same mixer, but unfortunately my sounds bar has some delay when I sing. So I’m trying to buy a audio monitor, because I used with another speaker, and the mic was low volume.
Got it. Thanks for dropping by!

Thanks for the video. Was very helpful to set up my Karaoke system with JBL sound bar. Question, what is the best setting for echo, vol for mic from the mixer panel

Hi there, thanks for your amazing ‘how-to’ videos… very helpful! Quick question, is the mixer compatible in Australia? Couldn’t see where you connected it to power. Thanks!
Hi. I would suggest you check amazon in AU and find one there. A friend of mine found a compatible mixer there.
This video was by far the most helpful one I've come across, I do have one question though ... does the soundbar need to be a certain watt output to handle the music and microphones? I've some people saying that the soundbar might not cope with the karaoke mics, but perhaps you can clarify? Thanks again for the very helpful video! Much appreciated!
Ive never had to worry about that.
I love how you answer everyones questions! I’m new to this. I have a Sonos Beam sound bar with only 1 HDMI input. It’s currently connected to the HDMI arc on my smartTV. I have the mixer from amazon with the HDMI ports. What would be the best way to set this up?
Hi. This is quite tricky. You soundbar does not have an optical input at all?
Same problem with sonos beam 2. I think we need to change our soundbar. Or maybe Sir can help us on how to figure it out. Thanks in advance
I'm having the exact same issue , is there a mixer with hdmi arc ?
@@haroldgarcia1978hi mate did you find a solution by any chance ?

Thanks for this video! Do you plan on making a video on setting up karaoke system on existing surround system through smart tv and using Yamaha mg06x mixer?
Any info will be a great help... Thanks again, Kuya!
Not really because regardless of the mixer model, the steps should be pretty much the same.
Many thanks for your wonderful and informative video. I have a Samsung sound bar with optical cable/ arc HDMI. I have bought a Behringer XENYX Q1202USB with USB interface output. Could you please guide me as to what would be the most optimal way to connect my mixer and tv to the sound bar?
Hi. I read the specs of Behringer XENYX Q1202USB. Unfortunately, I don't think it can work. It does not have the input/output that you need.
@@MabuhayKaraoke thanks for your response. Have ordered dac converter as well as a last ditch effort- rac from mixer -dac- optical cable- sound bar. Basically, all I want to do is to connect my guitar and mics to the mixer and then get output from the s61 Samsung sound bar. Please do let me know if you can think of any other way. Thanks for your time and input
Hi. You may be interested in this video. It used HDMI ARC Connections: ua-cam.com/video/XN_3CAo5s3g/v-deo.html
Very informative!! May I know sir what specific model of fifine is equipped with the input /output optical cables. My soundbar only have 1 optical input and 1 usb. Thank you kabayan!
Hi. I actually did not use Fifine. I used Soundtown and the link to Amazon is in the description. Good luck!
Hey thanks for this info video. Great tutorial! Can I use a Shure mic with XLR connector? My soundbar only has optical connector
I think so. I don't see why you can't.
Simplified and I can basically use what I already have, just had to get the mixer
I love it. That was one of my goals of these videos. Use what you have and many of the viewers already have the gadgets.
Good info. Don’t quit your day job though LOL 😂
Nope. Not yet lol
Thanks for the video...I have the same setup as yours (with 5.1 surround sound system) and the same mixer...however, the music only comes out from the front speakers not center and rear...is it correct? TIA
Sounds fine. Because it all depends on the quality of the sound. If your surround sound sounds great when watching a movie, then it is set-up just fine.
Hi, Mabuhay. I really like your video and I really like the device. I have one question. I want to use party light (requires DMX cable). Is there anyway to connect DMX cable to the device? Maybe DMX to AUX or DMX to HDMI or something?
Hi. Sorry but i have not tried that and dont know the answer.
Please try it and let me know! I’d like to feature it if it works out.
Sir sana gawa ka po video using projector and AV receiver.thang u sir
Yep. Coming up sa January. Na order ko na yung projector?
How do you want to use it pala? Just to see the lyrics sa big screen?
Hi. I finally have the video that uses a Projector. Please check it out: ua-cam.com/video/pTdjsv5gq6w/v-deo.html
thank you for a very informative video on using karaoke thru youtube. I have purchased the unit (Optical connections) you mentioned and have it connected to my Home theater using a Sony Receiver. However, when changing the speaker output to Optical signal in settings, there is no audio. Is there any settings I've missed?
Did you change the tv audio settings to PCM? Also, your Receiver must also be allowed to accept PCM audio format. There is likely a setting for that.
Thanks for the video! Which SoundBar would you recommend? Can you share a few recommendations please Thx!!!
Hi. I am not really an expert on Soundbars, but I can say that many of them work well. It really depends on your budget. I have a few that I feature here: www.amazon.com/shop/mabuhayentertainment but then again I am not an expert.
Thank you for your video. I currently have a surround system with several devices that already use the optical output on TV (Samsung) and input on receiver. What do you suggest to make this work? I haven’t bought the karaoke mixer yet. Thanks.
You have the same as mine. All you need is get the mixer and follow the instructions in the video.
Hi thank you for the video 🙏🏾. Can you still watch your tv with out changing or disconnecting anything ??
Yes absolutely
Hi what is the brand of the mixer with wireless mic and optical connections you ordered from Amazon? Thank you for your informative video!
You're welcome. The link to the items used in the video is in the description. Please check there.
Very Helpful Video..some soundbar have hdmi connection.. is that possible use the mixture during connecting soundbar & tv using hdmi cabel?
While I have not tried it myself... I believe it is NOT possible to use HDMI for BOTH TV and Soundbar. It is possible to use HDMI from TV to Mixer (if your mixer supports HDMI (TV ARC), and the use Optical to the Soundbar.
Hi. You may be interested in this video. It used HDMI ARC Connections: ua-cam.com/video/XN_3CAo5s3g/v-deo.html
Great video and I no nothing about this stuff but you made it clear. I have bose 300 soundbar my soundbar is already hooked up to Samsung TV that also has a firestick using hdmi3. What mixer and microphones do I need that are good and support 4 microphones, not 2 please. The bose has hdmi arc with nothing connected and the optical that is connected. What would you recommend? And then is that all I need please? One more thing do I have to change hookup or get something different when you want to watch tv again? I just want to be able to do kareoke the simplest way Thank you
What mixer and microphones do I need that are good and support 4 microphones, not 2 please. >>> You can have 6 microphones if you want. You will need a mixer: amzn.to/467Hdsk and another microphone ssystem: amzn.to/3ZzhEhw
The bose has hdmi arc with nothing connected and the optical that is connected. What would you recommend? And then is that all I need please? >>> HDMI (ARC) will not work for this system unfortunately. You have to use the optical connection.
One more thing do I have to change hookup or get something different when you want to watch tv again? >>> If you use the above mixer, and use optical connection, you can use the same system for doing karaoke and for watching TV without switching connections at all.
Hi, i'm from the UK. Your video is very informative. Please can let me know what is the brand or model of the mixer that you are using so I can buy one from Amazon.
Maraming Salamat Kabayan for the video.
Hello! Paki check sa description. Nandyan ang link to Amazon US :)
Thank you for the video. When I am not playing UA-cam Karaoke songs through the Soundtown system, do I have to do anything to my TV, Soundbar or Soundtown system to play non Karaoke channels, e.g. films, sport etc.
Hi. No you do not have to. And if you want to use a digital connection for movies, etc, you can use HDMI that could be directly connected to a soundbar and just simply switch the sound output of the TV.
Sir - incredible useful series of video. I bought everything and installed.. Only hitch, how do I change the audio input to optical on the receiver when my home theater is showing HDMI sound.
Hi. Thanks. If your receiver has an Optical Slot, then it has an Input for Optical. For example, if in the back of the Receiver says Optical (TV), then you set the input setting to TV. If the back says Optical (CD), then you set the input setting to CD. Hope that helps.
@@joedumadag9916 Thank you so much for replying..Yes, receiver - Pioneer SC-LX502 has Optical input slot (BD/DVD and TV). I first hooked to TV..But then my default input comes to TV as I use HDMI CRC for my Samsung TV. I tried then connecting audio to BD/DVD but it still does not work. I choose BD/DVD but then I think the receiver does not know how to route the audio
OK. You need to make these are followed (Assuming your mixer has Optical IN and OUT:
Connect the Optical Cable from TV Optical OUT to Mixer Optical IN
Connect another Optical Cable from Mixer OUT to Receiver Optical IN (TV).
Set TV Audio OUT Setting to Optical - This is important so it does not use the HDMI ARC.
Set TV setting to PCM Audio output.
Set Receiver input to TV. In your receiver settings, also make sure that Optical is enabled for TV.
@@MabuhayKaraoke Thank you for watching this channel and responding to your subscribers. I bought the same mixer from your video. I followed all steps in your video. I have Samsung 8000 series LED - few years old. Only 2 settings for Audio. I can set Speaker Settings to "Receiver" and I changed the Digital Audio Output to "PCM". There is no way to set the Audio output to ONLY OPtical as my original setup is using HDMI ARC. Receiver just takes TV input by default...Let me take a few deep breaths and check everything again
@@MrPolyestrine ok. Just the Receiver setting of your TV also, in case that’s the one.
What is the exact model # of your tv?
Hi thanks for this video I was able to set up my soundbar with the tv and the soundtown mixer. Just have a question? I turn the volume of the mic from the mixer but it is still very low for me is there a way I could increase the volume of the mic?
Hi. Yea you make sure the the volume is raised from the mixer and from the mic volume itself.
Thanks for this video. If I want to connect my A/V receiver's RCA input, which converter [ optical in and rca out ] you recommend. Thanks.
Hi. Please tell me more. Are you trying to connect the mixer to the AV Receiver using RCA?
@@MabuhayKaraoke Hello, Answer is yes. :)
@@tunthura9349 You should not need a converter to connect the mixer to the AV Receiver. You only need a converter to connect the TV to the mixer.
@@MabuhayKaraoke Thanks for your reply & appreciate it. 🙏
Very nice video! Do you know how to set up this but for projector not tv? Right now I have roku hdmi to hdmi input of a receiver, then hdmi output of the receiver will go to the projector. My speakers are connected to the receiver of course. Roku does not have separate optical audio output anymore. Thanks
I do. I have a video about that coming up. Stay tuned.
Hi. I finally have the video that uses a Projector. Please check it out: ua-cam.com/video/pTdjsv5gq6w/v-deo.html
Very informative video, Joe. Thanks. One quick question. After set up, the two wireless mics work well. But can't get the wired mic (plugged in the mic jack in front) to work. Can you help? Thanks. From Joe
Hi. Are you using the same mixer that I used in the video?
@@MabuhayKaraoke Yes, I am. The wireless mics work perfectly but not the wired one. Thought it is a simple plug and play process.
Hello, where did you get/buy the audio mixer with the mic? Been trying hard to find one here in Dubai but cannot find one. please help, thank you - Jong
The wired mic if it’s a dynamic mic then you’ll need a mic preamp to boost the power on it if not you get very little to no volume at all
Hi, does the microphone comes with a cover on top of the mic itself? Just like the other mic that you are using now?
Not usually. But the cover/filter is pretty cheap.
Hi! If your soundbar is connected to your Smart TV via bluetooth, can you just connect the mixer to your Smart TV with an HDMI cable? Do you recommend the Pyle USA mixer for that? Thanks!
I don’t think it will work because if you play a video from the Smart Tv, it will not take any input from the mixer at all.
You could connect a streaming device to the mixer and play the video from the streaming device.
Hello friend, Nicely explained by you.
I need your expert advice. I have Mediacom karaoke, model no MCI 6800 TM, with two lovely wireless mics. I want to connect both the mics to external speakets and with two headphones and to TV for watching lyrics through UA-cam. Two mics can connect either through supplied base unit or without base unit. My TV is smart LG OLED and has all latest technologies. We are team of professional singers. Please suggest what are new units and connectors required to set up proper music system for proper singing.
Thanks and regards
Hi. In this system, you won't need the Mediacom Karaoke. This is a replacement of that. Therefore, you would need all the devices I mentioned in the video. The link of the devices to Amazon is on the description.
Great video, thank you. I have a Sonos Beam 2 that only has an HDMI input. Can you advise how I would connect the mixer to this? Can I convert optical to HDMI?
Hi. You can use a mixer that has hdmi output and it will work.
Não encontro o SWM16 no Brasil. Você sabe outro microfone com suporte a Toslink(optical)?
Unfortunately not. Try searching for it in your country. If you find one that is a karaoke mixer, send me the link so i can confirm that it will work.
Great video, I have been researching for simple set-ups for so long and finally you came to rescue with this video. I have a smart TV (LG) and a Soundbar (Polk), and I was considering the Rockville RKI65BT or this Soundtown you recommended. Have you ever seen the rockville model at all (it only comes with 1 optical) or if you have other similar recommendations? Thanks in advance, Joe!
Hi. I assume you are referring to this one? amzn.to/3YD7RpL
If so, yes, that should work. Looks like a good option. You can try that. And if it works well, please let me know so I can recommend to other viewers as well. I have not tried that brand. :)
Thanks for the video sir, can you send the link of the mixer used here?
It is in the description
Hi. Thanks for the video. But do you experience any delay on the audio/vocals using this set up? Thank you
Hi. Ive done this setup at least 5 different ways and never had any delays.
Can you do an in-depth review of the Sound Town 16 Channels Wireless Microphone Karaoke Mixer ?
I can but not until much later due to other priorities.
@@MabuhayKaraoke ok, no problem
Hi Joe! My wireless mic receiver does not have the optical option, and so now we only have everything connected thru HdMI, and we are experiencing delay issues when singing. If i buy the receiver/mixer that u have from Amazon, will i not have same delay issues when singin? Thank you and hope
to hear from you soon!
Hi. I can’t guarantee there is no delay on your end. All i can say is I’ve obviously used many different mixers and systems and never experienced delays.
Mabuhay excellent instructions video. Will a setup like tis need an amplifier to provide all the power for a 5.1 surround system?
Hi. I use a Receiver. Not necessarily an amplifier. But I thought you always need something to power up a 5.1 surround sound (unless you get the modern wireless ones). It really depends on what equipment you have.
@@MabuhayKaraoke well, my plan is to use similar setup like yours: smart tv, same mic and mixer setup, and 5.1 soundbar additionally optic cable connection any where possible.
@@tmph1814 Got it. I have Bose in-ceiling speakers that need a Receiver so I use an Onkyo Receiver. I believe an Amplifier will work as well but I have not tried it. Good luck. You will love the outcome I'm sure.
@@MabuhayKaraoke do you know how many watts your speaker system and receiver is rated at? Thank you!

I'm very excited. I will update you when my karaoke arrived and connected. It will arrive by mid of this month. Thank you so much.
Sounds great
did it work?
Very informative video. My TV has an optical output also, but in the sound option the only sound output choices are line out, tv, s/PdIf, hdmi arc headphone and line out. There were no PCM, What should I choose?
Interesting. Not really sure why you don't have Optical in the Sound Output. The sound output is a different setting, the Sound format is different. Set the sound format to PCM, and then try each Sound Output and see if any works.
Hi there . Nice to see you video
I m would like to ask you
Do you repairs my receivers surround right sir? If you can do it so c an pay you,
I have erro code appear on , I did reset one time and I would be good after days it was happp again
Sorry, no
Hi thanks for the video. I am using a Samsung HW s800 wireless soundbar connected to TV wireless via Bluetooth and I played music via Spotify app in the TV. Would you be able to advise how to setup DIY karaoke with this setup?
Hi. This may work.
1. Keep your existing set-up.
2. Get a mixer that supports HDMI
3. User Amazon Fire TV or Chromecast as a Streaming device. Connect it to the HDMI IN of your mixer
4. Connect the mic to the mixer.
5. Send the audio + video signal from mixer to TV HDIM IN via HDMI cable.
6. That should play the video on TV and play the sound on soundbar wirelessly.
It will be very similar to this video... modified slightly per above steps:

Thank you for the video, I have a sonos beam gen 2 sound bar and only has hdmi imput, I also have an old fashion mixer with the traditional conectors, how can I set up my karaoke system with this hdmi thing? Do I need to buy a New mixer?
It depends on what input and output your old mixer has. If it supports HDMI, you can still use it.
