I read in one review of this watch that their signals are so quiet that it makes alarms and other signals practically useless. If this is true, then for me it is a huge disappointment, and I will cancel the acquisition of these seemingly ideal watches.

Love this watch. I love how a G Shock can be blingy and outrageous but it just gets away with it! Torn between this and the all black. I like the negative display on the all black... Decisions decisions.
Just picked up one from eBay seller yesterday. I have been a Casio G shock lover for over 3 decades, but last many years, I have not bought much of G shock because I have been buying different Automatic & Manual watches. But few days ago, I came across your review of this watch!!!! And then, I fell in love again with G shock.
It is COMFORTABLE!!!! and very solidly Made in Japan. Everything is done just about perfect, so I have not much to complain about. Great size. bracelet is so comfortable and I love the "sizing of the bracelet". Casio used small spring bars for the links. Easy to take few off. EL light is great and specially I can get 4 seconds, rather than 2 seconds. Besides limited functions of this G shock which I do not mind so much and being 35 years anniversary model, I guess they had to make the function kind of same as the original one. I have couple of gripes on this. Small ones. The alarm sound is too weak (maybe I am losing my hearing???) for my taste. Secondly, it is bit too much "bling bling" shinny. (I got the silver one and kind of glad that I did not go for the gold one. That would have been too much.. I think)
But besides that, it is a perfect G shock anniversary watch. I have not really worn digital watch for a very very long time (exception of fitness trackers), but now I am in love with G shock again.

Just bought one last October and have worn it practically everyday for half a year now though i have to say it sometimes is annoyingly heavy, but def enjoy wearing it. Also, you'd be surprised the attention it gets and is also a conversation starter. I totally forgot my other swiss watches.
I love the weight, it feels very substantial.
I a tually enjoy the weight. Most of my autos are divers that are substantial. I like that feeling! My first decent wt h was a 🤨Ball Diver on a SS bracelet. On the way home, I thought “I’ll never get accustomed to something this heavy.” The next day, By the next day, I never noticed the weight again.
I picked one up for $376 on Amazon. Maybe I just waited long enough for the initial craze to wear down. I qbsolutely love this watch!
$376 is a good price. Yeah they have finally come down in price after almost 6 years! lol the sapphire titanium models are still crazy expensive though.
What a legendary piece. My first watch ever, over 45 years ago was Casio digital square. Old school version of this masterpiece and did I love it so much. Even though I have Gshock steel and a white gas100 as well. I will be adding this to my collection asap. My swiss watches are in danger of being banished if necessary in order to fit this one in to the collection box. Love love love it!!

Just bought one. £375 new from an online jewellery retailer. They’re up used for about £340 but you always run the risk of buying a modded one, rather than the original. Very thorough review. Can’t wait for it to arrive. Yet another reason not to wear my Seamaster Pro.
Also check the gmw b5000 jf1 still available from Japan. Actually looks alright on the rubber strap with the inverse display and you can always get the bracelet later. Got it for 280 not arrived yet so tax might be 50 but who nose I may be lucky. Never owned an inverse display before but this one looks really crisp.
If you like it, then it's worth it. It looks good.

It definitely IS worth the retail price. This kind of quality and finishing from a Japanese made product doesn't come cheap.
you should try one of the resin models on the combi bracelet! they are cheaper and so nice! i own the GW-M5610BC-1 and its an amazing do anything, go anywhere kind of watch that you set and forget
Just got one with a 50% discount as part of the 40th anniversary of gshock. My first gshock lol. Always liked it but it was way to expensive (550-650€ in local stores).. had it for a good week and love it! Isn't as heavy on the hamd as i thought it would be. Great watch.

Hi, thanks for the video. Lovely looking watch. Always liked metal g shocks. I like how it can find your mobile phone. When you compare this watch to the MRG B5000D-1 I think your watch is a far better option, a lot kinder on the wallet too. Still available in Australia for AUD $900.

Nope.. they do NOT use Friction pins .. there are some well made spring bars in there so its a breeze to resize.. can do with just a thumb tack...
Oh and even in Aug 2022, man this watch is just the top of my collection comprising of Tudor and Tissot and Seikos and G-Shocks and even 4 apple watches that I have owned (and disposed).
In regions where the atomic signal is not available, the bluetooth is a very clever way of ensuring a worry-free upkeep of accurate time and yes, I agree a 100%, that FIND MY PHONE is so useful when you are rushing out of the house for making it in time to your kids' tuitions and classes and can't find your mobile to grab....
And may I also share, that I have to bluetooth casio squares - one this all metal and another resin Midnight Green, and my phone manages to update both of them seamlessly usually within 2 mins of each other - at least 2 times a day without any issues... so that G-Shock connected app at least on iOS manages multiple connected watches very very well....

Casio is all about value for money. You have to see and feel this one to appreciate it. Worth every penny.

Follow Up: I was at the King of Prussia Mall in PA on 6/16/18. I went to both locations of Time After Time Watches, neither had either of the full metal G-Shocks. I did put my name on a waiting list. Also went to the Macy’s, Zumiez, and other stores at this mall that carry G-Shocks: no joy anywhere.
Yeah, they are in demand there and they are hard to get everywhere. They should be getting some next week. Did they direct you to the G shock pop up store on lower level? In a few months they will probably be available everywhere. It’s a marketing tactic by Casio to create demand as the silver model isn’t limited.
Yes, I went to both Time After Time Watches locations. The lower level one is where I put my name on the waiting list.

is it worth 500 bucks? no. but then you go on to tell us how love everything about it. I say the want factor and how much you enjoy your purchase out weighs simple comparisons to other watches that are similar in function but a lower price.

Interestingly, this stainless one is not a limited edition, but just limited in production or distribution right now. The gold one is limited and marked as such and is $600. I said in video I feel it is overpriced but the more I wear it I realize it is made very well and is a solar and connected watch, so not just a basic digital. I’ve heard Macy’s and some other places discounting them and if you can find one you can get it for $375.
Jorn Navarre ur very right. I have seen a lot of g shocks that are over 150.00 and they all do the same thing. Just trash for that price. The gold n black ones look very beautiful but u could barely tell the time. And the illuminator on it just doesn’t look or feel like 150.00. But next week I will buy 2 of them, in different flavors of course.
One big difference is the screwback. This adds a lot of quality and value to a watch. To me personally it's totally worth it.
Casio can’t get away with daft prices like Swiss brands. If it costs $500, then that’s the price they need to sell it at to make their normal margins.
Will there be a new version of this model coming out this year with some improvements? Are there any informations pulic?
Don’t believe their will be any changes than what it is and the different finishes-(it comes in a DLC version, gold plated, rubber strap versions and two titanium versions) that are currently available. I doubt we will see any new versions or a revamped version this year.

Hold the light button down for a few seconds to activate the auto light feature. Your manual should help with anything else.

I was wondering if where the pins connect to the bracelet if it is plastic? I had a G Shock Rangeman break from a soccer ball where the pins enter the plastic so now I don't want to buy another G Shock. If this is solid metal then I may try it.

How big does this wear, say compared to a 40mm sub? I’ve never owned a digital watch but I really like the look of this. The dimensions are daunting, 40mm is my usual limit.
It wears small. It’s not what one would consider a large watch. I mean, it’s a men’s watch but I’ve seen many with 6.5 and 7 inch wrists wear it no problem.
You can't say it's not worth $500, then say that you absolutely love it and people are paying well over MSRP on the secondary market.

Is this watch worthy $500? Yes. Clearly. Look at the demand in the resale market. When a watch sells for more second hand than it does new from the shop - There's very little reason not to buy if you want. If you can find one. You're not going to lose money, so why not?
Does this model have the same caseback? because i saw one online have a different caseback so i don't know if its authentic.
The limited edition gold one has a different case back. There is now an updated gold model as well as an all black one. The actual limited edition models have a different case back.

You need to use the app to check the battery level annoyingly man, still but a small price to pay cause once it's fully charged you would really need to go full vampire to drain it .
this one is not 35th anniversary, it'll be in regular production. only the gold and black dlc ones are first batch of full-metal 35th anniversary, and their casebacks show the 35th logo.
Anthony Yau well, yes and no, these are 35th anniversary ones as they are the same as the gold and released for the 35th but correct they are not limited editions. They are hard to find though.

MrLoughneagh you mean the metal case with the rubber strap version ? Probably not. At that point I would just probably get the standard all resin version as part of the appeal with this model is the All Metal case and bracelet.

Being honest, I am not a G-Shock aficionado by any means. I bought this one for multiple reasons, but as I said in video, for many years I wore a G-SHOCK in kitchens but they were mostly $80-100 models I bought at mall or Macy’s etc. There are sooo many models of G-SHOCK out there, just take a look at their website and find the one that’s right for you.

Paul Leather Black steel version is limited but out there. $800-$1000 at retail, if you were even able to find it. Also a steel one on rubber with a reverse display.

sutats lol. Most watches with bracelets I have to take out a link or two. They usually should be able to fit an 8 or 8.5 inch wrist out of the box.

I am a fan of G-Shock steel watches BUT, I am not a fan of digital versions. So, I will put my money on the analog stainless steel G-Shock GST S110 or the twisted steel MTG-S1000D.

The website says the silver one is a 35th anniversary version, but only the gold one comes with 35th anniversary labeled box and case back.

Well, where did you order from? If you ordered from a reputable source/site you should be ok. If ordered from eBay or another sales app type deal, you may be taking a chance.

It’s not really painted, it’s ion plated a gold color but yes, solid gold was not used to coat it. Its just gold PVD basically.
Suggestion for Casio: Remove the Bluetooth thing, charge $100 less and far more people will buy it.

Who knows what will come out next year, but the idea behind the watch was combining old and new, past and present.
