Casio watches are great. Reliable, accurate, reasonably durable (depending on which one you buy, and G-Shocks are practically indestructible unless you're really, really angry), easy to service, look great, and go as cheap as $10 all the way to about $200 for a loaded G-Shock. Really practical watches.
Some people have a “beater” watch, but I have a “sleeper watch” a Casio w-96H (about $12 here in Japan, about $20 in the US). Easy to read. 10-year battery. Just a few grams (so no discomfort in bed while sleeping), illuminator, snooze alarm, dual time, 50m water resist (stays on during my morning shower!), and stop watch to time my breakfast boiled eggs! Perfect! Great video, by the way. You have one of those voices that is really easy to listen to and is somehow very engaging. You would make a fantastic salesman on those TV shopping sites!
My dream is my own shopping channel slot..... 😂😂 Love the sleeper watch idea. May have to give that a crack myself. Thanks for watching the channel mate. Jody
@ Brainman 2331: lol. Ordered mine on Amazon yesterday for the exact same reason, the gym. Hardly any clocks available there and due to covid-19 we can only workout 2 hours max.
0:57 You nailed the whole watch review thing there! How is that a "review" or how can you actually "recommend" a watch if you haven't even touched it? Keep up the good work Jody.
Casio has a long standing legacy. I'm amazed to see they're still producing these tried and true designs to this day. what a great collection this man has provided and showcased in this video. hats off to the man with the watches
I feel like the difference in value you get by increasing your budget just $10 more from $30 up to $40 with the G-Shock DW-5400E cannot be understated. At just $40 this iconic watch will get you so much!
Not always possible for under $30, but the DW290 and DW291 are seriously excellent watches for around that price point. I bought my DW290 for £23 in 2010 and it's going strong. A couple of battery changes, but my favourite watch - also got film connections with Mission Impossible
DW-291 is almost a G-shock in disguise for less money / it has 200M Water Resistance and mineral glass (HD printed on bezel to tell you "it's Heavy Duty" 🤗
THe hilarious thing about Marty McFly is when Doc announces "it's 1:21am...." Marty looks at the watch, wonders why it isn't working then LISTENS as if he expects to hear it ticking
Love seeing this 4 years later. You can tell that you’re a tour guide. Love the heavy frame glasses Jody and the slightly darker hair. Our hair follows each other. Deep respect from these early days and now you have your own watch brand!! Bob, from rainy Angus.
My absolute favourite is the f-201. Especially the silver and gold look fabulous with their toned down display on a smaller wrist. It has everything you might need for every day use. Highlights are the five alarms, perpetual calendar, nice functional lighting, 10 years of battery life, timer, dual time and ease of use, for just €15 in Europe.
Jody: What do you think of the Casio AW-80 series? Ana-Digi, world time, stopwatch, countdown timer, three alarms (one snooze), storage for 30 phone numbers (HA!), great backlight, and 10-year battery. It has no ticking seconds hand; the minute hand advances 1/3 of a minute every 20 seconds. Available in several designs with strap or metal bracelet. Around $20-$25 USD. I love mine!
I have two F-91W's, one CA53W, and a A100WEGG-1AVT on the way from Casio. The 91w's are definitely the most comfortable, and the fact I don't have to hit a button to see the date is nice.
It’s official..I’m addicted now..first, I bought the green-bezeled version of the Casio Royale..now, I’ve picked up the AQS-800, the one Jody calls his “zombie apocalypse watch”..in addition, I now have an AE 2100 (basically a round version of the Royale) and 3 G-Shocks..buying these Casios is like eating potato chips..you just can’t stop!!
Well, I finally did it..after buying several automatic dive watches, G Shocks and more fully-featured “regular” Casios, I bought an F-91W..that little watch grew on me!! It doesn’t do a lot, but what it does, it does well..I’m even getting used to the size!!
I used to be a watch snob and not like digital casios. I still don’t like G shocks but I am wearing an AE1200 World Time right now and I just ordered an A168 😂 getting there slowly but surely
Great video! It put me On track to find my most recent Casio purchase (the 3rd this year for myself + 4 as gifts for family) I picked up a W800H , which has the right size for me and big bold font. Casio team forever!
The tough solar is my nemesis. I bought mine 5 years ago - never changing a battery means it still goes in shower/sea with me. The resin dial is a little scratched, but it's bold so no real problem reading it under any conditions. I picked it up as a cheap beater after losing two expensive watches (motorbike - before I knew about Nato straps - these had 'tough' steel bracelets, one time I recovered my Citizen when a pin came out). Proper love/hate. I wouldn't pay more for a G-shock, so much more money for unnecessary upgrades, though I'd prefer it with glass over resin...
You should buff out the scratches, that's the advantage of Acrylic crystals vs. Mineral Glass. G-Shocks use better materials, the bands are a better resin and generally more comfortable, besides being more shock and water resistant. But hard to beat the value of regular Casios.
@@blackinkonpaper Actually, and NASA agrees with me on this, Acrylic is the only way to go for a 'tough' watch because it's less likely to cause damage if it's broken... so yes, I just give it a polish. given the 10x price hike it's just not worth upgrading.
I have an Android Wear smartwatch, and while it's outstandingly useful, I find myself wearing my Casio AE1000W or Barolo a lot because I can just forget about it. One less thing to charge.
I bought a Casio Duro from Walmart for $35 and people are even finding them as low on sale for $11, but loved this list. Both SEIKO and CASIO are my two favorite brands.
Everyone should have a zombie apocalypse watch on the ready! I love this list, unbeatable value for money here! I always reminisce to my first f-91w, the first watch I ever had as a 10 years old kid, and than to my army grade G-shock I wore as a soldier.
As many people think of CASIO as a watch company that only make digital watches. Thank you so much for showing a variety. I hope you try CASIO watches that are dressier and a little higher in price, I would love to see what you would gravitate to. I have a beautiful EF527D - 1AV that is a great watch for the money. Thank you Again.
Regarding the 50m water resist (at least on an F91W). They are very good in fresh water, but mine died after a good surf session. I took the module out, left it in the sun for a couple of days and it started working again. Lasted years.
Awesome video and thanks for these great suggestions! I would like to mention that if you dig the size and feel of an F91W-1 but hate the backlight, grab an F105W-1A. All the same functionalities, but with an EL backlight for $20 US at the local Walmart. I've heard the ones made in Thailand keep the best time. They are extremely comfortable and small enough to slip under the cuff; I love mine so much I wore it when I got married - no joke! :)
Fun video. I have a Casio Pathfinder 2632. About 6/7 yrs. it has been on many of the major rivers In and out of the US. It has climbed over more boulders Than we can count and goes skinny dipping all the time, still going strong💪
I just bought the AQ-S810W, the successor. I got it off Groupon for $39.99. Great watch for a beater. I use when mowing my yard. Still trying to figure out why it is not a G-Shock. It looks like one.
after spending loads on swiss watches and others , im back to a casio that cost me 150 pounds , has solar battery , sapphire glass , stainless steel , 8.9mm thick , keeps precise time , has 10 bar water rating and looks awesome , going to find it hard to spend more on a watch after experiencing casio value again lol
I love you topic. I used to wear Casio's when I was a kid. Now I just bought a new A168... I will try to collect your list. Thanks for making this video. I am a huge fan!
I am 13, I love Casio watches, I own 3 (f91, f105, C53) and am in love. I have enough to buy a decent G-Shock but these are so comfy and cheap. Can’t beat it.
@@moronsmorons8913 Kein problem... meine begeisterung für casio uhren ist relativ frisch ich bin also noch nicht wirklich im bilde was die "fachsparache" der enthusiasten angeht...
Out of the 10, I have 3, AE-1200WH, F-15W and CA-53W. I think I might add another 3 from the list soon. Thank you for the suggestion. Indeed these 10 are among the best and affordable Casio watches
I have 5 of these. The great thing is you can get spares for these many years later. I have just been sorting my collection and whilst putting a (unused for about 18 years) JC30 personal trainer onto a cushion in a display case the resin strap fell apart. Went online and bought a new, genuine replacement in a few minutes and delivered in a couple of days. A similar thing happened with a Guess watch bought in 2003 and I am unlikely to be able to get an original strap. It has integrated end links so will have difficulty getting any strap to fit.
I think I've seen this one before, but either way, great list. Casio has always been, currently is, and most likely always will be my watch of choice, going back to some time in the early 80s. You just can't beat these things. I've had many models over the years, and it was my parents who initially started my love affair with these Japanese watches. Whether I needed one or not, I always got at least two new Casios every year, one for my birthday and one for Christmas. Sometimes even more than that, and then there were the times when I went and bought my own. Many interesting choices here. A couole that I really just don't like, but most of them I do. I've been going back and forth on picking up an A168 for a long time, but it just isn't enough of a size increase over the F91, which I never wear. Another one I've been seriously considering is that Ana-digi near the end. I forget the letter series, but it was the ??-800. I really don't know why I haven't pulled the trigger on that one yet. I'm sure I will someday soon though. Anyway, again, great list and thanks for keeping these Casio videos coming👍😎👍
I've been rocking Casios for years, and overall they last a lifetime. Got a couple with over 10 years, and original battery. Just a god tier brand, espically their Worldtimes, and F91 models-and -similar.
I bought the casio solar watch last week. A bit more expensive now 2021 £29,99 here in the UK. Had it on charge for a few days in our very weak sunshine (when its out) now its going great. This is my third casio I am becoming addicted. There are so many to choose from. On holiday I am in the sea all day long and never take them off.
My almost-3-year-old AE1200WHD on a metal bracelet is the perfect beater/work watch. Accurate, fairly durable, ok to bang around, 100M water resistance, very quick to put on and remove, has lots of commonly used functions (and no I don't need a barometer everyday), and costs less than having an automatic serviced. It won't make me any new snooty friends, but I'll know who my real friends are with it. It's just really a great watch to wear anywhere except big events where you need to be pretentious.
Great set! I very much enjoyed the tour. One that is parked in my Amazon wish list, one that fits the criteria here, as a dress-sport offering is the MTP-1240D. Simple, lume-less quartz watch with day-date. Spotted it in my cheap quartz dress watch shopping adventures... a great office knockaround choice.
I have the last watch you have shown in your video. Orange and black. Got it used from a thrift store for $15 CAD and it's been one solid watch! Love it! And solar powered too!
I like the larger size of the A168 but wish the colors on the dial weren't so bright and more subdued like the A158. I love my silver F-91W with the black band! It's my everyday watch. Ten thumbs down on the video? They must be fun at parties... (100% sarcasm on that one.)
Been using the AQ-S810W for more than 3 years. Tbh, it's a super beater watch, been drop various times, scratches, and even be in salty water for many times and now it's still ticking and battery indicator still on high.
Coming back to this in 2020 and the Casio AQ's are the best fashion watch period. The price, the look and size is the reason I have the gold and silver version of it, absolutely love them both!
Haha love the " I'm not one of those watch guys that pops pictures of watches they've never tried on or seen in the flesh" , very good indeed, why recommend watches you've never tried on. Great vid! 🤘🤘🤙👍🏻😎
My current favorite Casio of the five I currently have is not a budget model. My Casio GW-6900 is full of everything you need (solar, atomic five alarms, world time, etc.) and is a blacked out, pseudo-mil spec looking version of the classic Dw-6900. A little chunky and not a watch to wear with business casual or for dressing up. Coming second is the AW168. Super stylish clsssic Casio with a stainless band. Looks high class nerd chic on a budget. Lastly, a must have, besides the F91, for Casio enthusiasts is the OG G Shock: the mighty DW5600-E.
Hola. Casio is a great watch. And wenger. Marlin is my favorite. I had one. But had to sell. To put some food on the table. I like your program. Your a nice person. Hello from Costa Rica
Hey, my dad is from Mexico, friend. I hope your situation gets better, watches are a great way to make money, buy low, sell higher. That could be a pretty good way to get money as many young people would like to look classy. Good luck and hello from New Mexico!
Such a great fun and lessons learned video, like these entry level Casios are by themself. So much great watch time pieces on your wrist for so little money. I own the F-91w and a very basic G-Shock DW5600, and whenever I put one of these on my wrist I always get impressed on how in hell Casio could manage to build such ridiculously great and durable time pieces for this ridiculously low money. The DW 5600 has been used in my quite tough work conditions for quite a while now, and you just rinse/clean it, and it's set to go on more tough missions. That's a watch able to get for around $80. Considering that I adore mechanical/automatic watches as my spare time watches (well, apart for some awesome quartz analogues as well), this is just another feather in the hat for Casio. I'm just sad that so few of the youths today wear watches, since this video presents such awesome Christmas tips. I'd love to buy affordable watches like these to the young relatives, but sadly most of that generation think it's pointless to wear something ancient as a watch: Hello grandpa, you just pull out your phone to tell the time. what's the deal? Sigh...
THANK YOU SO MUCH for reviewing the AQ-230! I have wanted one since I was in high school in the '80's. I hardly ever see an english-speaking review of this watch. I love my silver/black dial version. It is a great watch for international travel with 3 custom timezones (including the analog) and 12/24 hr display. I want to put a black leather strap on mine . This watch is watch is sort of ahead of the curve for the upcoming trend to smaller watches and the shape is a nice nod to the Apple watch popularity. I just wish I could find a version with a blue dial. Again, thank you!!
are there any good spots to look for Casio watches in Norway (Bergen)? I'm currently here destroying my Steinhart at work, tho I would happily flip it for cheap and tough Casio))
@@LordArioh naaah, I havent found anything good for cheaper watches. Watches here in Norway are superexpensive :/ Casio F91W cost around 49 dollars.. And one beer 0.5Liter cost us 10 dollars 😢

after spending loads on swiss watches and others , im back to a casio that cost me 150 pounds , has solar battery , sapphire glass , stainless steel , 8.9mm thick , keeps precise time , has 10 bar water rating and looks awesome , going to find it hard to spend more on a watch after experiencing casio value again lol

Love the A168. Bought one in 2004 and the battery is still going. It is super beat, but i still wear it when travelling.

Casio's so damn savvy they make their own G-Shock Knock-offs lol
Wait ...what???
@@cmbaz1140
Some of the lower priced Casios share some of the looks, but aren't built with the different protective layers of the g-shocks.
@@moronsmorons8913 is that what he meant by "knock-off"?

meine begeisterung für casio uhren ist relativ frisch ich bin also noch nicht wirklich im bilde was die "fachsparache" der enthusiasten angeht...
Out of the 10, I have 3, AE-1200WH, F-15W and CA-53W. I think I might add another 3 from the list soon. Thank you for the suggestion. Indeed these 10 are among the best and affordable Casio watches
Watching this video wearing my F91W. Some great suggestions for more Casios for the collection. Thanks Jody
I'm glad you included the MRW 200h. It is such an amazing value and such a great watch. Definitely my favorite Casio
I was convinced and bought your zombie apocalypse watch! but mine was the AQS800W-1BJF. The numerals are white and are luminescent.
F91-W🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I bought the casio solar watch last week. A bit more expensive now 2021 £29,99 here in the UK. Had it on charge for a few days in our very weak sunshine (when its out) now its going great. This is my third casio I am becoming addicted. There are so many to choose from. On holiday I am in the sea all day long and never take them off.
Man! Jody has the best T-Shirts on UA-cam 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Casio 1200 Is the best in its class
But the 1300's appearance is more unique with the 3 circles above.
Casio is my favorite watch.

I've still got a Casio Marlin I bought in 1981.
I like the larger size of the A168 but wish the colors on the dial weren't so bright and more subdued like the A158. I love my silver F-91W with the black band! It's my everyday watch. Ten thumbs down on the video? They must be fun at parties... (100% sarcasm on that one.)
after watching this i just feel like buying all of them...

Been using the AQ-S810W for more than 3 years. Tbh, it's a super beater watch, been drop various times, scratches, and even be in salty water for many times and now it's still ticking and battery indicator still on high.
Just what an amazing and innovating brand Casio is! they never disappoint, never! and of course, great video as always!
Coming back to this in 2020 and the Casio AQ's are the best fashion watch period. The price, the look and size is the reason I have the gold and silver version of it, absolutely love them both!
W_800H the best
I the BEST and is a BEAST!!!
The calculator watches are great. Go shopping and use this watch to add up the prices on the go.
Great idea!
Good luck and hello from New Mexico!
very nice picks - thanks. WAS (watch acquisition syndrome) is incurable.

I like your videos because you can take very affordable watches and make them come alive ......
Of course I have to buy all ten now. Sigh.
Lol I'm better off than you .. but not by much ... i want 5 of them.
Jody, thanks to the highlights of the brand I picked up a brand new Duro for 35$ and what a joy to add to the collection.

are there any good spots to look for Casio watches in Norway (Bergen)? I'm currently here destroying my Steinhart at work, tho I would happily flip it for cheap and tough Casio))
