  • Come #shopping for Pyrex with me, Ph.D. Antiques Appraiser Dr. Lori, as I thrift #shop the Orange Tree Antiques Mall in Winter Park, FL just outside of Orlando. I reveal unusual finds, different patterns of Pyrex and the values that people actually pay for them. Pyrex is selling for hundreds of dollars. Notice the capital letters used in the marks I show.
Pink Gooseberry, Cinderella, and Apple Orchard are just some of the patterns I discovered. Which pattern is similar to the blue onion that you all know from early dinnerware? #Watch and find out! I also share the interesting history of select patterns and the different colors of Pyrex. Remember avocado green? Plus, see how one pattern relates to clothes designs of the time.

Similar to Pyrex's 'every day set - hand down forever' - I consider vintage Corningware -Corelle Ware dishes the same. For a period I shelved my collection so that I could use the new trends... only to end up donating all the new stuff to Goodwill and going back to my 'Old Town Blue' sets. Lightweight - easy to clean - indestructible - attractive... what more can you ask for?

I have a large PYREX collection. One of my favorite sets is the New Dots set. I saw the set in rhe background. I celebrated when I found the largest green dot bowl for a good price because it completed my set. I rarely buy anymore, so expensive now.

I grew up in Levittown in the 70's, and I remember the colors of the appliances,, bathroom fixtures (toilets, sinks) The dusty rose, avocado green, almond. The Pyrex and Corning craze is having dealers crank up the prices ridiculously. Love the patterned sets. All I typically see is the yellow.

I bought two large Pyrex bowls for 5$ each at a flea market a few years ago and used them. Went to get them down one day and dropped both of them on the quartz countertop and broke them. I liked them because they were old-I looked them up after I destroyed them and found out how dear they are!
