    Pyrex collector, high end rare cast iron cookware collector, ceramic Christmas tree collector, other antiques. It's a great hobby and something that keeps me sane.

    I love vintage Pyrex, but also the newer stuff. I like them on a practical level. I don't like the throwaway culture of today. I'd rather use the old stuff that lasts forever.

    I love pyrex so much! I grew up with having so much of it in our home. My grandmother had an entire dish set that I still have a small set of fruit bowls, those tiny little bowls that you can use for dessert or something. They're just plain white with a wide green band around the edge, and a matching serving bowl. I used to have more of her pieces but I ended up getting rid of them - so sorry now that I did. Then my mom had a few of the pyrex refrigerator dishes that we stored our leftovers in daily, wish she had kept those. But they had so many beautiful patterns! I really love the butterprint/Amish one so much!. This was great, the history was so interesting - thank you!!

    When I am antiquing one of the most common items I see in other shopper's carts is Pyrex. From mixing bowls to refrigerator jars; It is amazing how hot the market has become for something as widely available and commonplace as Pyrex. I've heard from antique dealers and shop owners that they love Pyrex since if it is priced reasonably it always seems to sell very quickly.

    • @66uniqueantiques

    I just started collecting Pyrex. I started with the Homestead nesting bowels because I remember my Mom having the large one. I go to the antique stores and only buy the ones that are inexpensive at this point. It’s more fun piecing them together, and seems to be cheaper than buying a whole set all at once. At this point I am sticking with the nesting bowels only, unless I see something I have seen is rare. Thank you for the info.

    HeIIz yeah, great information...🤘🏼💯✔️ I'm gonna keep an eye out for the "Black❄️Snowflake", because I really dig that...👌🏼 Also, yeah, I collect Pyrex stuff, just the pieces I like and whatnot, such as a children's piece, it's a bowl with clown🤡faces on it...🤗...I totally love❤️and dig it, and keep it on my coffee table sometimes with stuff in it...👍🏼 The color was important too, I searched for one with the Red clown decals because red is my favorite color, and of course I wanted it to be in good condition...💁🏻 So there's that, and also I got a small clear Pyrex dish in the corner of my bed cubby because it was see-through and I have it as a catch-all for miscellaneous items such as chapstick, headphones, fingernail clippers, and other odds and ends...🤙🏼 All around, I think Pyrex is pretty frickin' neat, and I do dig a lot of the different designs...💫

    Awesome! I really like this 101 You Tube classes. I’m new to seriously collecting antiques vintage/bohemian style.
    My two cents. Also fading. If you put the color ones in the dishwasher they will fade. I have a clear bowl with teal polka dots. I think this one Is newer? The dishwasher does not effect it at all. I’m collecting the clear ones, so no problem with fading or discoloration.
    I’m kind of not really collecting them but if I see them at the thrift store for like a buck, I’ll pick them up. 🤗 I do like them. Didn’t Pyrex and Corningware merge?

    I have a few pieces of Pyrex, Corningware, Fire King, and Glassbake. No sets. All pieces my Mom and Auntie owned, and some found cheap at garage sales. They broke a few and sadly so did I. I love to cook with them for they are superior bakers! I don't put them in the dishwasher, and seldom in the mic. I figure they were not made for that use. Sadly my pink gooseberries have been through the dishwasher and faded. Using them gives me joy and I feel the love of my dear ones.

    I have two divided dishes that I think I'll put on the garage sale next month. Don't remember where I got the compass star (or atomic, I've also seen it called), and the barbed wire, that a neighbor down the alley set out for free! I'll see if the locals will snap them up for $10 bucks apiece!

    Hi!, from st clair county michigan. Love your channel! I've had a pyrex promotional piece in very very good condition for years. The only problem i have is the inability to find all pieces involved in this set together. Some are missing lid, some the rack. Can i send you a pic? If so how would you like that sent. Just need your expert opinion. Ty!

    I have a Pyrex handle that I think was used to move Pyrex baking dishes into and out of the oven as it latches on/off based on the angle you hold it. I don't have a photo of it now (and right now, I don't have quick access to it to take/post/send a photo of it) but it looks like it was designed to grab one of the "tab arms" on a baking bowl/dish and then release quickly once the hot bowl was transferred from the oven to the trivet on the table eliminating the need for using a hot pad/mitt. I've tried to use it on some of the anchor glass baking ware and it doesn't work. I think all the Pyrex brand baking dishes I received as wedding gifts 45 years ago are no longer with me--either finally broke or left behind at a church pot luck type event. Let me know if you're interested in seeing what it looks like...
    PS. One of my sons has a beard like yours... I couldn't stop thinking about him as I watched this video...very informative!...

    Really surprised he didn’t close with explaining how Pyrex made since the 1980s in the US bears zero resemblance to original Pyrex. Europe still makes it using the original borosilicate glass formulation, but all post-80s Pyrex here is made of inferior soda-lime glass. The soda-lime formulation explodes under normal oven temperatures and otherwise breaks very easily.

      Agreed. American pyrex is a cheap knock-off of the real thing. There's pics and videos everywhere of them exploding and shattering. If you're going to collect these, make sure the logo says "PYREX" all capital letters. If it's lower case letters, it's the fake stuff.

    • @FR-tb7xh
      @FR-tb7xh 8 днів тому

      @@xjohnny1000 Not quite. Original PYREX, the ‘good stuff,’ was 100% American born and bred. It was the European market that demanded the brand to be cheaper, hence, inferior, to satisfy European market across the pond.

    • @xjohnny1000
      @xjohnny1000 8 днів тому

      @@FR-tb7xh That's opposite of your original comment though. I understand the Pyrex of old is American but through corporate buyouts and shuffling, all the borosilicate was sent offshore. Thankfully other brands like OXO still make some good pieces.
