- Learn exhalation technique for singing with this detailed how to video. It shows you step by step how to open your ribcage so you can produce a steady stream of air to support your voice.
❗️❗️❗️ Guys, this helped me OVERNIGHT!
I literally did ONLY ONE exercise for like 30 min with a total concentration on my breath. The day after, my breath automatically switched to the place where it belongs!
Singing is my passion and I'm a self-taught. I have to admit, this exercise isn't new to me. In fact, I was told to do this exercise in my first vocal class back in 2014 (I stopped attending after a year cuz I didn't have time). But I say thanks to Ronja for putting it out here and help everyone and for reminding me that it actually WORKS! Can't wait to put it in action and make better stuff cuz now, everything I record feels unconfident... Guys, take your time and practice! Focus on what you're doing! That beautiful sound you wanna achieve is the result of these exercises! THANKS!!! 🙏😌
What exercise did you do?
I've watched so many videos on breathing with the diaphragm and for whatever reason left confused each time. My vocal coach told me the trick of trying to hold "open" that space for your diaphragm but I think I was using my abs more than thinking about pushing my ribs out to the side to hold in place. Hence I only half got the concept. This video is beginning to bring it all together for me. Since I am a visual learner, and it helps to know more about the science of our muscles, I had to watch an animated video of the diaphragm first. Then I watched a video titled "How To Stretch Your Diaphragm | Diaphragmatic Excursion" for a more medical care perspective (apparently stretching the diaphragm has benefits for alleviating lower back pain!). Right after watching that, coming back and watching this video made perfect sense. Yay! I think this is removing my conceptual blockage for "how" to perform this technique finally.
Now I just have to get used to this at first seemingly non-typical technique of stretching a muscle I can barely feel (if at all) on demand and holding it in place. Non-typical only because we use our diaphragm so often without trying or thinking about it, and you have to overcome/reverse that for this technique to work. You have to "feel" (conceptualize, if needed) and command your diaphragm to do what you want.
Anyway, great video! Thanks for sharing!
I love singing. I would say that running definitely helps me improve my lung capacity as well.
Great tip. Thanks for sharing😊
My biggest struggle is losing my breath as I ascend higher, especially in head voice/falsetto. I really hope I can conquer this and be able to sustain higher head notes longer!
If you were out of breath in the high notes; you were attacking them too hard.
I'm new to singing. These lessons especially the exercises are really helpful. Thank you Ronja 😊
I'm so happy to hear. I'm sorry for my veeery late reply. I hope you are still singing :)
@@singgeekI doubt it
I've been working on strenghtening and enhancing my control of my diaphragmatic breathing for a while, but hadn't yet seen anyone mention keeping the ribs expanded like this. such a huge difference, thank you! :)
I come here because I want to have a longer breath because when I take a high note I will faster lost my breath (sorry for my English)
MWajdi Meeyyyie wajdi gaming and Real life breath in and breath out slowly, will helps

This is brilliant. I wish I found these 10 years ago. BTW, I didn't have a lot of problem with the Inhalation Technique video, but the Exhalation kinda gave me nausea.
Might be cuz I have gastritis problems, and have been finding it hard to breathe and sing my favourite tunes lately. Would you agree?
Nonetheless, I'm gonna slow myself down and come back a day or two later, for new lessons.
Keep up the brilliant work.
Thank You.

Damn girl, you just made it easy to understood.
I like u you are a good teacher 🌟😊
Thank you.
I came to learn how to keep my breath in order to finish lyrics! There's this song called " Love Power " from the movie " Disenchanted " and there's this beautiful part where she's singing but it's almost like she's doing it in one breath. I know I can hit the notes, it's just keeping the breathing that gets me
Love u Ronja....Thank you so much😊
This really helped cuz I definitely struggle with breathing normal. Im a chest breather so its hard for me to find how im supposed to position myself when I do it. :D
U teach it in a proper way .
Thank you 🙏 😊
I LOVE YOU THANKYOU SO MUCH 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛

6:53 came and made me lose my breathe in an instant 😂
I want to know how to sustain my voice
Hi Ronja, I stumbled on your videos today and I've been geeking out with them for a couple of hours! I just tried the exercises in the inhalation video (inhaling with diaphragm against a book) and came back to the exercises for exhalation in this one, and it feels difficult to push forward with the diaphragm while at the same time pushing sideways/outward into the ribs. Will they both happen together with practice? Is it supposed to feel or look like opening an umbrella, if we compare our torso to an umbrella? Thank you and I love your videos!
thanks!!! for share
Thank you it all makes sense meow ~
ronjoooooooo...!!😊❤ thank you..!✊✊✊🌹🌹🥂🥂❤
Love from India
thanks
Now I finally understand those youtube thumbnails with the person that looks like they are sucking in their stomach on things about breath support! I had my inhale down but I never knew the mechanics for exhaling properly just that I needed practice using all my air, so thanks! Love the turtle neck btw
Thank you greatly
You are very welcome :) I wish you happy singing!
Thaks teacher. teach me. more.... 🎉😂
thank
DID I SEE DROOL! 6:06!!!
I love these videos they are so helpful
You know, I took singing lessons for almost 5 years (on and off, on and off) and I think nowadays the two things that I struggle the most with are: breathing, and tension-be it throat, chest, shoulders, tongue, jaw, da whole package, sista.
So I was wondering: I take a breath (nose or mouth, super deep or not so much) and even though I feel the ribcage and diaphragm working and all, I still feel that some of it stays in my chest, so there's this tightness blocking the voice from coming out freely and loose, if you will. Thoughts?
Maria, I think you should let yourself go and try NOT TO SING, but more likely to breath or to shout (like you're calling someone). Remember that releasing feeling and try to use it while singing a song. I think a lot of vocal problems appear when students are trying to sing so hard, like they're standing in front of a examination commitee.
Its really helpful tips thank you so much mam
Hi Santosh Meti, I'm happy to hear that it helped you. Thanks for letting me know and good luck with your singing :)
Tqu mam
thank you Ronja soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much
Hi mirna jaghnoun, You are so welcome :) I wish you all the best with your singing!
How to get better voice lovely ma'am
Hi !
Does it works the same for opera singers ?
Thank you !!
Thank you for sharing this video my coach somehow tells me the same thing but I'm still confused coz it feels like holding the air and I feel something heavy on my neck part and ended up sounding like strained...I really want to resolve this but I dont know how.( help me figure it out huhu)
Looked your smille and all pain relive
❤❤❤❤
Great vid and well explained…. Thanks! Miss your very nice phrase at the end of some of your sentences “yeah?” Don’t let anyone change your authenticity! 😎
Thanks Ronja
I've been doing these inhale, exhale exercises for ever. So many vocal coaches have demonstrations. Yet, NO ONE shows how it actually works when singing. I can inhale for as long as anyone. I can hold by breath for as long as anyone and I can exhale for as long as anyone. But when I actually sing a song I run out of breath. Obvoiusly, something is not working.
When I do this is it supposed to feel like I just got done with an exercise for beginners
good
Hello,
I love singing and dancing
I am better in dancing
I am little bit weak in singing
In middle of the song gaps are coming because I am exhaled my breath.
Thank you for your tips.🖤💖❤️💜
I am 8 th class

Hi! is there a way to buy VocalQuest as amazon.de is not shipping to a US address or is there a way to buy it as ebook or kindle or iBook ? Is it okay to only get stage3 as I am only a hum to myself singer and not a talented real actual singer like you or your students?
Do meditation 🧘♀️ it’s the best medicine for singing 🎤 🎶 🎵
PLEASE HELP ME: When I am belting in my chest voice and I'm done with the note I exhale even more instead of inhaling again. It feels like no air is coming out and it sounds nice but it feels all muscle and no breath. My neck is also really tense and i don't no how to stop. Please help.
But I do t understand, do you do this while singing or just for exercise before you sing?
Oh yeah I’m super pitch i think I kinda know how to breath better what do u do first inhail or exhail I’m guessing inhail not sure what to do when I start singing I’m trying to get better at singing for when I post my next song
I've just watched the inhale and exhale videos and my voice is already better
That makes me so happy to hear. Keep up the good work jm 😊
