    I may have missed this, while touching or observing the larynx externally, you should be careful not to manipulate it externally. This could be detrimental to the small muscles that make up your vocal instrument.

  • @evilcowboy
    @evilcowboy 2 роки тому +7

    Isn't this the open throat thing? I have taken advice from everyone and it has helped. This is actually a really good lesson to learn. I knew how to do this I ended up here mostly trying to take tension out of the body, but listened to refresh.
    If you push it a bit more lower it will feel like the larynx drops so low that it feels like it folds on top of itself. When that happens ...welcome to whistle notes. You have to push one of the muscles on top of it so it makes the opening small enough to whistle. Fun little thing to do.
    When I started I was a C2 to around a F4 now I am able to go from a C2 to a E7 (with whistle notes) a B6 without them. I sing a lot of MUSE so obviously I had to be able to hit highs and lows to get the same versatility Matt gets.
    Great walk through on this.

I feel like I have better control over the high notes in my range when I don't pull my larynx up to hit them, and my low notes are smoother when I pull my larynx down. I think that my "singing voice" is just me pulling my larynx up. Thank you. So much to explore!

I'm happy to note that what I finally arrived at, is pretty much the same as what is described in this video! One thing I find effective, is to play a video of a basso profundo (like Glenn Miller), and get the student to immitate him! 🙂
