What’s upsetting is Chris thought he didn’t do a good job as the doctor, yet he was... ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC
He was an amazing doctor I can’t stress enough how good he was he had a blend of everything but was also unique to the others with his tough guy persona
he's my doctor 😭
He had some amazing lines and did well acting as a regeneration just coming off the war doctor and everything that happened. It really hit me in the episode where he was saying “just this once everyone lives”. Really felt that even before I knew this was probably the first time since what he believed was the mass assassination of his people where he got to really save everyone.
@@astridkjellberg mine also..followed by David..really love them both..sure miss the days when Doctor Who was worth watching

I love how 9 tries to explain the regeneration to Rose so that it doesn't sound like dying, because 10 later said even if he regenerates it feels like dying.
10 WAS dying, radiation poisoning is an ugly death, even for a time lord, what made it so sad, he was alone, he tried to catch up with the others, just to see them, then all alone. No wonder his regeneration was so vicious
And then Twelve says death is Time Lord for man flu.
@@Silverwind87yep, that completely ruined it
@@firstname1154 I fail to see how it ruins it. It totally goes with _the first rule_ . Obviously, he was trying to comfort Clara so she doesn't feel that bad about general.
@@Silverwind87 The thing about the Doctor is that he lies, he was comforting Clara but not only that but 12 was a very cold and calculated Doctor, he took on 11's Alien personality but made it much colder.
have you noticed every time a doctor regenerates they get better cameras
OMG LOOL
REALLY! I never noticed technology gets better over time. Who knew.
I mean like immediately not over time.

What about him and river oof
It would be like 6 and Peri
Are you trying to end the universe? Seriously.
Notmyrealname - The Salt Tardis
Egypt Rainbow “Ah Amy, the girl with legs that can end the universe...”
I love how the Doctor spends his last minutes in that form comforting Rose and making her laugh. Shows how compassionate he is, even in the face of his own death
the way eccleston plays it at 0:42 you can tell underneath he's slightly panicking at the situation and is laughing to cover it up, but then comes to terms with it at the end and goes on his own terms. fucking brilliant
Meanwhile to Wilf: "I COULD DO SO MUCH MORE!!"
His last words, "So was I" are significant, since Nine was his first regeneration since ending the Time War. This entire life had been defined by anguish and remorse at what he thought he did, but over the course of his time with Rose and Jack, he learned to value and accept himself again, that despite what he thought he had done, he _wasn't_ a monster, or a failure; he was "fantastic."
+Turtle Philosopher It was "Moffatkai" as I like to call it. :/
+Turtle Philosopher It was just invented to replace Eccleston in the special.
It was originally going to be the ninth doctor but eccleston refused to come back so they made the war doctor
In my opinion, that just goes to prove how bad Moffat's decision making is with Dr. Who. A good writer should *never* feel forced to replace characters simply because of a flaw in their own story design. It's called re-writing; but clearly he's never heard of that.
^This. And especially considering that they filmed a scene with 8 just for his regeneration, why couldn't he have filled the role if absolutely necessary?? I mean heck, it would have been a better sendoff?
I always found it cool that David TENnant had ten in his name.
OMG just realized that
No Actually, he didn't.
+m0nstaLulz he did though
OH sorry my bad. I could of sworn I read somewhere that he didn't. I might of gotten the articles mixed up, but that's a newer article
David tennant is now his legal name because there is another actor with the name David Mcdonald.
"New teeth...that's weird..."

Brooklyn Irvin same XD
There are so many great lines from this show - but this one line; and his facial expression... that is priceless!!
Or an old chap after receiving a pair of fake choppers.
"I know these teeth. What!?"
Eccleston's final scene is so underrated. It isn't as long winded as Capaldi's, it's short and sweet and a nice way to end 9's arc finally coming to terms that he isn't a bad man
Capaldi's last scene ended up being an entire episode
@@benjamindavis4974 Yeah too bad the 13th Doctor didn't follow any of it.

I just realized. When the doctor accepts his regeneration, it happens quickly and doesn't cause destruction.
But when he doesn't... it happens slowly and tears up the world around him.
He literally fought his regeneration when turning into the 11th. He REALLY didn't want to go.

Nine was the only positive doctor when he regenerated
+ItzDowling_ Nah, Eleven was kind of positive as well. He had had so much time to prepare for death since it was supposedly his final regeneration, so when he regenerated anyway he was kind of ready to go.
The whole thing was of course tear inducing to the max ("Raggedy man - good night" makes me bawl every single time), but he wasn't sad. He felt he had done the best of that regeneration, and he recognizes that we all change through out our lives. It's quite beautiful as a closing monologue really.
11 was sort of positive when he regenerated. However, 10 was not. XD
+Chara Senpai "oi dunt juannuh go" xD
+Chara Senpai oh ononono I'm going to cry... "I don't wanna go" 😭😭
"I'll always remember when the Doctor was me." Love that line. Makes you cry and smile.
The way he explains the regeneration process is like a father explaining death to a small kid- Rose looks completely out her depth, innocent and confused and 9 is stoic and resigned to his fate. Especially in the line:
"Yeah, I'm doing it now"
The way he nonchalantly delivers this line to an increasingly worried Rose is "fantastic". You get the feeling that he is holding everything back (evident by his brooding when staring at his hand at the start of the scene) and is instead focused on Rose's feelings and getting her through the experience. Giving her a postive lasting memory of him and making it less traumatising for her.
Such a nuanced performance and why he will almost certatinly always be my favourite doctor.
This appears to be a constant across regenerations … alone, the Doctor tends to be more interested in their own feelings and expressing themselves to the fullest, while in the presence of a companion, their focus tends to be more on comforting them and trying to minimize their inevitable upset towards suddenly having a completely new Doctor to deal with. The only major exception imo is Ten not bothering to explain regeneration to Donna during his first regen, though that could probably be attributed to the writing being designed to be humorous, since he doesn't actually change.
I attribute it to t being that Ten was in a lot of pain after being shot by a dalek, Rose tried to explain but wasn’t very good at it.
Man, I always get emotional watching this because it's so obvious how much 9 cares for Rose. We as the audience know that regeneration is not a painless process, and yet 9 spends his last moments trying to assure Rose that he'll be okay. He even jokes about it, just to get her to smile.
Basically I love them immensely and as much as I love every Doctor who came after, 9 will always be my favourite. Absolutely phenomenal performance from Christopher Eccleston.
Great now im crying rip
The Ninth Doctor is my favourite modern doctor too
Fun Fact - even though it seems that David Tennant went on set right after Christopher Eccleston, but no that wasn't so. At the time of recording this they still didn't have a tenth doctor so they recorded David's lines three months after this.
Yep, and the way he was able to look at where Rose was standing was cos they had him talk to a piece of tape placed at her eye level - cos she wasn't there at that time! XD
Now that I look at it, the lighting doesn’t 100% match!
So the parts it cuts back to Rose are extra scenes or are they stills from while recording with Chris?
Cicily S you can tell lol
It seems that Rose's reaction was recorded with 9.

One of the benefits of 9's short tenure was having one of the strongest and most complete character arcs of any incarnation
Out of all Doctors we’ve had, he feels the most unique of them all.
I agree with you, I miss Eccleston
Eccleston revived and rejuvenated Doctor Who and Tennant refined it.
Couldn't have put it better myself, my friend. Tennant certainly polished and improved it, but Eccleston actually founded it to begin with.
I love It how in this regeneration, the doctor just regenerates and then acts like nothing ever happened
"ok, where was I?"
Then he crash landed, keeled over in Jackie's arms and slept it off until he was brought tea, only waking before that to blow up a Christmas tree. It's all a bit random when there's's no context...
DeadStupidFilms yeah I know but it's just right after he regenerates he acts like noting ever happened for about 5 minutes, but then he starts to finish, and that's when all of that happens
rachel c
With each of the regenerations I've seen it usually takes The Doctor time to adjust to his new form and there can be problems until he stabilizes. The Fifth Doctor's (Peter Davison) regeneration almost failed, The Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) became homicidal and almost killed his companion, and The Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) had a bad case of amnesia after he regenerated.
Solitaire001 I know. I've seen them all
You can see the exact moment that 9 finally accepted his regeneration. I also thought that it was so sweet how usually doctors don't remember much and take a while after they regenerate, but 9 cared so much for Rose that he MADE SURE that 10 would remember Barcelona, for her.
My favourite part about the last words of each Doctor is that it feels like it’s the actors saying goodbye to the character in their own ways. Christopher said “you were fantastic and so was I”, David said “I don’t want to go”, Matt said “I’ll always remember when the doctor was me” and Peter said “Doctor, I let you go”. It makes me happy and sad all at the same time
13th Doctor: Tag, You are it!😄
? 14th Doctor: I'm ready to go!🥲

2:05 after seeing interviews of Chris talking about his confidence issues as an actor, being told that acting wasn’t for him, and that he didn’t think “he was much cop, and still don’t” this line almost feels like breaking the fourth wall and really hits home, like he needed to tell himself this.
I'm not sure why, but this regeneration still really tears me up. Maybe it was because we only got one season of Nine, but it's just so beautifully and simply played, no histrionics, no long drawn out speech... "And I'm not going to see you again"... that line is such a punch in the gut. And I love that Nine takes care of Rose even at the end, explaining so she won't be too freaked out. MY Doctor.
the odd moment when you go from being a Dark Elf to a Death Eater.
LokiLover35 dark elf?
Christopher Eccleston also played Malekith the Dark Elf in I think it's the second Thor movie? (It's been a while since I saw the movie)

9th doctor was so underrated
And he said, I know these teeth now
I would say that the 9th doctor is the most underrated doctor of them all except for perhaps the 8th. All in all it takes a certain type of Doctor Who fan to recognize Eccleston as the greatest doctor of them all. There was something about his performance as a beautiful but damaged, tragic figure, that was so stirring that it completely recreated the alien people had fallen in love with over 40 years before. Without him there would be no Tennant, Smith or Capaldi and i think that deserves more than a round of applause, Christopher Eccleston, The Ninth Doctor - Fantastic!
Yeah. It's unfortunate that most people now remember him as "the guy who was in it for one series before David Tennant"
When this episodes were written, the 9th doctor was suppose to be the one that battle in the time war. Eccleston did a really great Job with this aspect. He was a warrior that lost everything, the war was so close to him. But he still has hope besides the rage and the sadness of that battle to the Daleks. In the episode "Dalek" we can see that. He has to sacrifie everything that he love to kill that monsters... and one of them just resist it.
Sombra Sangrienta Well, actually in Rose it's very clear that his regeneration is quite recent, as he checks himself out in the mirror and comments on his appearance, a definite indicator of a newly regenerated Doctor. The majority of time he spent with this face was actually during Rose, between when he left the first time, and then returned to tell her the TARDIS also travelled in time as well as space. Not only are there a bunch of comics and stories set during this time period, but it also is the only possible gap for the hundred years he aged between Day of the Doctor and Aliens in London (when the 900 years old figure is first mentioned).
Well he was funny but I like matt smith better Christopher was kind of violent cause if you saw in bad wolf(2005) he carried guns he was gonna shoot secondly bad wolf they got taken to this place and Christopher punched a guy and pushed him to the wall it's a bit of violance
Israel Johnson That was his character, he was meant to be a hard lad from the North who was also the Doctor.
"But you know what? So was I"
Am I the only one who cried at this??
You're not alone, mate :')
I cried like a neo maxi zoom dweebie haha u r def not alone in this. I miss the 9th Doctor
Trust me, when he was telling her he was going to change, and when he said his farewell line, I just cried.
I cried too
***** There's no way you can hate any doctor you may prefer one over the other but every actor has brought something great to this iconic character and btw I love the 4th doctor too
Who's back here after it happened again? "I know those teeth. What?!"
When Ten describes Regeneration like dying, going away for some new guy to take over, makes this so much more heartfelt.
Not only has Nine come to terms with his past and mistakes, but he accepts what is essentially his death and does it with a smile, not afraid at all.
meh, it's not a death, it's just a change of body users, around 10 currently just confirmed that
@@luisfillipebeserra2108 the Doctor is intrensicly the same person. Their personality and features change. There is no change of body users"
@@VadersFist95 their personalities, ways of acting change, what to go on and their super brain and crazy mind, surely it is a change of user or are you going to tell me that the 10th doctor and the 13th doctor are really the same person even though they are COMPLETELY different?
Well I think it might be because 10 lived so little. 9 must have lived at least 400 years since the 8 doctor (war doctor) said he was only 500 I'm fairly sure and he regenerated right after the 50th anniversary special. Meanwhile 10 must have lived 5 or 6 years which in timelord years I'm sure is nothing. He even says, before regenerating, "I could have done so much more" and the feeling of it not being his time yet is present the whole time
@@Thewholedweller 10 was also extremely attached to Rose and all of the other friends he lost.
The 10th Doctor is and will always be my favourite, but it's moments like this that always make me reconsider the 9th; whilst number 10's regeneration made me cry like a little girl, 9 goes out with a big smile on his face, which is what makes the 9th doctor so fantastic

I love the ninth's regeneration because he didn't try and run from it like the 10th or the 12th and he didn't try to prolong his life as long as possible like the 11th. He faced his death bravely and spent his final moments trying to console his friend.
It was such a small moment but I loved that ninth knew his time had come and accepted it. That's why he's the best doctor of new who imo.
Does anyone realize that the tenth doctor was COMPLETELY alone during his regeneration and just lost two of his companions. One is with another version of him and the other forgot him completely. Nine had Rose, Eleven had Clara, Ten had no one. The only other doctor who regenerated alone was the second doctor. I feel tens departure scene was warranted. He stayed longer, made a bigger impact and brought in many fans. However, anyone who skips season 1 is a FOOL!!!!! This is a great doctor. The ninth is definately my second fav (:
Gamelover254 The seventh Doctor was shot by Chinese/American gangs and finally was murdered on the surgery theatre by the inexperience of human physicians while moaning for help... I think, the 7th Doctor (my favourite with 8th) got the worst death of all.
Yeah...I think I agree with you. I would have said the Sixth Doctor's death was even worse, but he actually has a proper regeneration story coming in audio format later this year, so that'll probably make a huge difference. I think the Second Doctor would've had the most infuriating death, though...his two best friends are made to forget about him completely and then he's executed by the Time Lords for insisting that the power of time travel should be used for good. The First Doctor died among friends, the Third Doctor died in Sarah Jane's arms with the Brigadier looking on, the Fourth Doctor died among friends, the Fifth Doctor and Sixth Doctors both died next to a new friend...come to think of it, the Eighth Doctor had a pretty sad regeneration, too--he died not only alone but also dreading who he would become and what he would do. The War Doctor died...sort of alone, but with a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. So, yeah...Second, Seventh, Eighth, and Tenth Doctors had the worst deaths.
Serge Kent I'm not sure if Seven's death was more traumatic for the Doctor or the audience. We had to see him getting shot after fewer than four lines, hear his terrified death scream and then watch his corpse being wheeled around for five minutes. And people wonder why the TV Movie didn't catch on...
The 7th doctor also regenerated alone.
"I don't want to go."

It’s weird to see have ten be the only doctor with a second scene like this
Technically third if u count the one from journeys end haha
Here’s to hoping the Chris comes back as a future Doctor
I wish there were more episodes with Eccleston.
So was Tennant.
Same here. How great would it have been if he was in season 2? Up against the Cybermen. Would have been really emotionally powerful to see him regenerate immediately after he couldn't finish saying "I love you." to Rose.
Big Finish Studios just released two seasons of audio episodes with Eccleston! I suggest you check them out
When he regenerated, the reason Rose looked surprised is because she could have sworn she'd seen that face before. Rose meets the Doctor - End of Time - Doctor Who - BBC
OMG you just like totally made sense to me now. Now going back and watching this that makes so much sense
I cant really tell if she recognizes him or not but it still is a total mind f**k
You think that's a mind f**k, you think about how happy and grateful the War Doctor was to his 'Bad Wolf girl', and while he would've forgotten about her after regenerating, it may explain why he grew as rapidly attached to a complete stranger as he did...
possibly tenants doctor revisited his old companions before his regen and met rose at the beginning of 2005 before she met ecclestones doctor
Christopher Eccleston was absolutely fantastic in bringing Doctor Who back to the mainstream. Yes, David had many, many epic adventures as Doctor Ten and it was during his time that the Whoniverse massively expanded, but it was Mr Eccleston's Doctor Nine who successfully re-launched Doctor Who on TV again.
"You were fantastic, absolutely fantastic. And do you know what, so was I". The best regeneration line ever imo and Chris was the best Doctor of the new generation.
Damn Eccleston, you could have had at least agreed to appear in a 2 minute scene to fulfill the gap in the 50th special....watching your first words would have been just fantastic....
Its his policy to not return to shows he has finished (with the exception of lke 1 or 2). Its his own terms as an actor, which i frankly find respectable.
Definitely makes me so grateful that, while RTD not bothering to ask McGann back for a regeneration scene in the first place still annoys me, McGann was still up for it 8 years later in Night of the Doctor.
James Aggas But then the 50th anniversary would have been spoiled 8 years early ;)
TGames not necessarily, the 8th Doctor would have originally regenerated into ecclestons doctor, John Hurts Doctor was only created after Christopher Eccleston turned down the offer to return for the 50th, making him the one who would have pressed the big button, so Night of the Doctor would probably just have shown McGann regenerate into Eccleston
Yeah, you have a good point there :D
He will be missed... So unique and funny and creative he was.
I got my fiance to finally watch Doctor Who, and we started with series one. She thought it was great, absolutely loved the Doctor. And she kinda knew about regeneration, but didn't really completely understand it. So we get to this scene, and she watches the Doctor change. And when he says "That's right. Barcelona." She loudly sighed in relief, because she thought the Doctor would completely forget everything from before. She was so happy. Then the next thing she said was "Ooh, he's hot..." Lol.
Your fiance is a moooodd
I always loved Eccleston's take on the character. It recreated Doctor Who for the modern era. He always had a sense of mystery about him, as well as pain. Going into the first two episodes, you know absolutely nothing about him, yet you yearn to learn more. He never spoke about his past, his family, or himself. All you ever learn about him is that he is the only survivor from an alien race, he is an old war veteran, and he only travels because he has nothing else to do. No planet of origin, no name, no details about his life. A personification of the question "Doctor WHO?".
you know...the moment I saw David Tennant was going to be the Doctor, I knew that something about him was going to make the 10th doctor the best one ever. mostly because of his personality.
11>10
Never skip the Ninth Doctor!
Ninth Doctor is so underrated, but for me he will always one of the best
This is how a legend dies...
This is how a legend is born.
I'd like to think that Eccleston's very suave and accepting regeneration mirrored his departure from the show.
From the beginning Eccleston wanted to just be there long enough for Doctor Who to gain popularity again, so him praising the fantastic-ness of Rose was like praising the fantastic-ness of the show being back with a vengeance, and him praising himself was indicative that his stint as the 9th doctor was one that shall go down as the first of the revival Doctors.
And thanks to what we know in Day of the Doctor, Eccleston's Doctor takes on a whole new depth.
Amen, brother
*slow clap*
I don't really get what you mean by the last part. How does Day of the Doctor give Eccleston a whole new depth exactly? I'm not denying it, I'm just curious.
***** I disagree that the show started to decline during David's run but I agree with you about the 50th; for me it swiftly obliterated everything that the Doctor Who `universe` has been since the show's revival. The original plot of the Time War and the 9th Doctor was perfect, in my opinion. (Also the reason why the Doctor cannot remember saving Gallifrey was badly explained as well as nonsensical - which is saying something in a series about a man who can regenerate when he dies and travels through time in space in a vast spacecraft disguised as a police box because the device that allowed it to blend in with its surroundings broke down in London 1963 in a junk yard where he lived with his granddaughter who attended the local comprehensive school and could outsmart the teachers constantly.)
iamnotcoolandproud Well I would defend my opinion of the decline of Dr who during the tennant era, by drawing attention, for example, to the 'end of time' climax episode. To me it epitomises laziness on the part of the writers; they take the easy option, bring back past assistants and monsters, and have a over sensational plot about universe destruction. Compare that to the depth and mystery of 'the lonley child' where the doctor was a protagonist not a God. From then on, I think it went downhill culminating in the dissapointing 50th. 9th doctor is my doctor.
I love ALL the Doctors. Seriously, it would kill me to pick a favorite. I love 9 for his sarcasm and wittiness, 10 for his hair and his charm, 11 for his childishness and RIVER, and 12 for his kinda grumpy-sassy thing he's got going on. They're all great! :)
+Camille Amai And the first 8? ;)
I haven't seen much of them... only the Doctors after the reboot plus a teeny bit of Tom Baker. I've been telling myself I'll watch more early eps but I've never gotten around to it :\
Camille Amai Ah, you definitely should. If you've enjoyed the last few Doctors, you should enjoy the first 8, too, or most of them, at least. I love 1 for how much he grows from selfish old man into the charming hero we all know and love, 2 for his little sense of mischief, 3 for his mix of sass and pure badassness, 4 for how alien his Doctor could be at times, 5 for his sense of vulnerability, 6 for just how colourful and BIG his personality could be at times, 7 for how much darker and manipulative his Doctor could be, and 8 for his strong sense of morality (not to mention how much he goes from practically innocent new-born to emotionally wrecked by the end).
+Camille Amai Yes. :)
+Abbz World It wasn't a reboot, it was a continuation. The term "reboot" implies throwing out all the old continuity and starting all over again. And yes, you should absolutely watch the first eight. Personally, my top four favorites are Three, Seven, Nine, and Twelve.
He Will remember that teeths...
Eccleston was a great introductory Doctor for New Who. He couldn't have started this era better.
2:35 massive disappointment went into my 10-year-old mind. A lot of us thought David Tennant would be terrible, but we were completely wrong. Saying that, Christopher Eccleston will always be the best.
I was 5 when eccelston regenerated
sonic radio Sammeeee
I didn’t exist
Didn’t watch Doctor who properly until David Tennant was the doctor
They say your first Doctor is normally your favorite and I'm happy to say Christopher Eccleston was my first. I thought he was brilliant in his portrayal. This scene always gets me, especially his last few words. I really wished Eccleston would've stuck around for another season or two.
He actually quit, he didn't like being the Doctor apparently :L He was my fav with David
... I think you mis-read. I'm saying ECCLESTON QUIT. Not that he was a bad Doctor, he was one of the best
Dr.Franken Stein Look up the meaning of the word "concur" he is saying he agrees the 9th was good.He didn't mis-read YOU misunderstood.
Bat Bapeck Sorry, I posted this on the wrong part. I am having the same argument with someone else on another vid :I
lool
The man who brought joy back to our life, is this man, Christopher Eccleston.
2:15
i like when he smiles
Malekith changes to Kilgrave. Villain to Villain. Wow.
I love Doctor Who.
WAIT A MINUTE
Then changes to Skynet.
--Not to be Taken Seriously-- Right!
+Duke
with his trusty companion Nebula
Than to Cardinal Richelieu.
I'd never watched the 9th Doctor series until recently. Mostly because i wanted to see how Rose started out. Anyway, I was blown away. He's a spectacular doctor. I mostly get a throwback feeling watching Ecclesten's version of the Doc, as if i'm watching #4 or 5. His natural tendency is to be laid back. He can be blunt with no feeling, like #4. But then other moments it's like i'm watching #10 or 11. He's kinder, more emotional. I think the 9th Doctor may be the quintessential version of Doctor Who.
love your profile pic
Well said.
Daniel Appleton "[I left because of] the politics of the show. I left only because of those three individuals and the way they were running the show. I loved playing the character, and I loved the world ... I felt, 'I'm gonna play the Doctor my way and I'm not gonna get involved in these politics,' and that wasn't workable, so off I went... and became the invisible man."
@@coultergill7728 He did also later say that the reason he didn't return for the 50th was the lack of substance in the draft he read of the script, which I think is a fair criticism of Day of the Doctor.
It makes me upset when people skip him. He was absolutely fantastic! And now he’s doing audio episodes with Big Finish!
When he says, "it means I'm going to change," you can hear his voice break a little. Love the ninth doctor!
"New teeth"
"I know these teeth"
My second favorite regeneration, and for a long time my favorite. I just love his expression, his face, the music, and overall, his last words. All is so fitting to his character and is so beautiful
Now I'm curious. Favorite?
11-12. Similar to this one, his expression, his face, the music, and overall, his last words, that speech was really beautiful. What makes it better, for me, is how the process go, how with his regeneration power saved the planet, how he was brave until his death, how he remember his life in a happy way until the last moment, represented in the drawings and Amelia.
I don't care for the Sneeze, we already had the explosion, so is fine changing a little, and the rest was just... wow
Zebitas Martinex Honestly, call me crazy, my favorite was 8th to War. It was just so.. uncharacteristic of the doctor, yet at the same time, you could see it was him.
Ajax Vala That one was really awesome, I wouldn't call you crazy for that
Zebitas Martinex Then again, I'm still hoping for a War Doctor spinoff. So.
His regeneration was so casual and not at all as intense as some of the other and that's what I loved about Chris as the doctor
Eccleston deserved so much more time, he was absolutely fantastic.
it's been 17 years since david tennant joined doctor who and he's still here. he will always be the doctor.
Eccleston was my first Doctor... and no matter what anyone says, I honestly think he was a great Doctor (slightly alien, yet still human-like). I like Tennant, Smith, and Capaldi as well, but they lack that "alienness" of Eccleston that made it easier for me to believe the Doctor wasn't an earthling.
I don't think anyone could've sold the "That's right, I sang a song and the Daleks ran away" bit as good as Eccleston did, either.
if you love him watch number4 he's played in such a way you have no trouble believing he's not human!
Yes, that's a fact I knew inside but I've never realized. He was the best one showed the alien side of the doctor
Despite my love for the 9th, I still have to say I loved the line "I don't want to go"......just really thoughtful.
"I know these teeth."
Am i the only one who gets hit in the feels by this regeneration? It might be because Christopher Eccleston is my favourite modern Doctor but for some reason the Ninth Doctor's regeneration has always made me sad (it doesn't make me cry but i do get touched in the feels by it) and plus Christopher Eccleston's Doctor is my biggest idol and inspiration (honestly the other Doctor's don't inspire me as much as The Ninth Doctor does) and am i alone in thinking that the Ninth Doctor is the best modern Doctor? (i probably am alone on that)
I highly suspect its the fact that he's almost trying to save her the sadness PLUS the excellent song in the background
"Fantastic" Time Lord code for "I love you" At least it was during his ninth regeneration.
I still cry, EVERY TIME.
"You were I love you." Seems legit.
Ummm, no.
Fantastic was his catch phrase. 10 had allons-y, and 11 had geronimo. 12 doesn't really have a catch phrase.
+Richard Smith 12s catchphrases are just insults
PUUDDING BRAINS.
I cried with the ninth doctor died. He was always my favorite. C':
+Courtney Young the doctors not deads so ninth isn't dead, he's just regenerated
+Andy Swaggly He's dead in a sense that he's not gonna come back.
+DIO's Scary Monster and THE WORLD You never know, maybe he'll come back for a crossover with the current doctor in the future.
oh god I hope so
+DeLusion Can you imagine? IMAGINE THAT JUST FOR A MOMENT! Omg...
Still till this day I believe Chris has the best regeneration scene in the whole new series.
I loved Chris's Doctor, he was my Doctor. And I loved Nine, he was such a wonderful Doctor and we wouldn't have had what we've had since without his hard work on what was sadly his only series.
He really was fantastic ...
I really would love the 9th to return in some way.
Me too. Shame he didn't want to come back for the 50th. At least that special gave us John Hurt's Doctor.
Unlikely, Eccleston really is not a fan of the show
Galactic yo yo he was supposed to be in the 50th anniversary but he didn't want to so they got john hurt to play the war doctor
Galactic yo yo actually he loves the show just had a falling out with the producers
@@coultergill7728 if he still loves the show, cant he come back with 13? maybe there can be a 5 doctors special bc theres a new production team
"That's right, I sang a song and the daleks ran away" LOL
Christopher eccleston was an amazing doctor. I wish he did another series. He bought the show back in a FANTASTIC style
Christoper Eccleston was honestly a great doctor, I feel like no one says that enough, lol. It wasn’t for long, but he was a really good doctor.
David's regeneration to matt smith is still the best one!!!
More like the saddest one.
David Tennant and Christopher eccleston will always be my favourite doctors cause I grew up with them I like Matt but could never really get into his doctor cause I couldn't get over David leaving
Loved Chris & David! Liked Matt, but he just seemed too...ehh....
What's your thoughts on Peter Capaldi?
Molly King It would've been easier to get used to 11 if Steven Moffat hadn't wrecked the show with horribly written episodes and terrible plotlines.
Hylian Hobbit yeah I completely agree matt is a good doctor but the storylines weren't always great, and I don't really like Steven mofatt
Nostalgia, thats all it is, RTD episodes were just as badly written as Moffats just went for a different method of action, RTD's episodes were mostly 40 minutes of build up and he solves everything with his "magic wand" with one or two references to future episodes like the Bad Wolf name that meant nothing until the reveal at end of that series, and a few images of Rose in series 4, what happened was 3 episodes before the end of each year was the beginning of a arc, 2nd before the end was the main build with a large cliffhanger and it ends with a deus ex machina.
Moffat at least built up his storylines, it just had its own flaws as it ended up hyping everything so had less suspense and felt empty when resolved.
STILL the best regeneration scene ever.
My favourite regeneration scene: not too over the top, yet still emotional and well done.
too me I think that Christopher Eccleston put everything into the Ninth Doctor, he was brilliant! And as my first doctor, and also being from the north, he will always be my first and one of my fond favorites :)
I just wish he respected his own fans a little more. :/ He would have been brilliant in the 50th special but his stupid ego and refusal to let go of past grudges basically spat in all our faces.
we all know he was busy promoting Thor 2 and I'm sure he would have taken part in some kind of form in the 50th
michael angus
No. He was given the chance but he basically wanted to take over the whole thing, supply his own director and writers and basically have total creative control. He's butthurt about how they treated him NINE YEARS AGO when he was the Doctor, and rather than put that aside for the love of his own fans he blew this perfect opportunity to share a beautiful moment with us all. It's such a shame. If he gave half as much crap about his fans as they do about him he would have bent over backwards to make the 50th work, but his pride was more important.
what!?!!?
michael angus
That's what I read anyway.
It's really sad and well done how he laughs about regeneration, but underneath you can tell he's angry about having to do it. So well acted...
Just watching this makes me cry at Eccleston not staying. I know that he didn't stay for justified reasons, but it would have been brilliant if he stayed. Although we wouldn't have gotten Tennant. So it goes at the end of it. Eccleston was my Doctor when I was about 4 and I first saw Doctor Who and Tennant did a superb job in taking over.
The introduction of the 14th doctor couldn't be more iconic...hope he makes a return down the line
You mean the 16th doctors since we're being so literal about it cuz yeah that would be the 16th Incarnation and the third version of David Tennant that the doctor regenerated into
Not a addicted fan of Dr Who but still will watch it when on as it is enjoyable but I have to say David Tennant was the best Dr ever and I doubt he will be beaten any time soon.
Its a difficult draw between the 10th and the 11th for me.
The 11th is better. But is that because Matt Smith is better, or because Steven Moffat was feeding Smith better stories?
Smith had better support. So does that make Tennant better?
David Morris I generally mean the feel of it his personality and how he acted out the part and so on just seemed awesome, Smith is not bad don't get me wrong but Tennant just has that spark.
I do not watch Dr Who tho religously like fans who are hooked on it so I've not seen all of the episodes with Tennant or Smith so I can't compare the story's.
HeeroYuy911 same with me i personally feel that Tennant was better and i do like Smith but not as much at Tennant
HeeroYuy911 By fan of Doctor Who, do you mean just the modern episodes, or the classics as well?
HeeroYuy911 I loved the David's personality as the 10th Doctor!!!
