My view on “wibbly wobbly, timey wimey… stuff” is that the Time Lord concept of time does not translate well into English and that is the closest he could come.
Ten was an absolutely *BRUTAL* Doctor when he ran out of patience. Shades of the Time War showing through, despite his efforts to forget about the War Doctor. He may despise using weapons to kill, but never for a MOMENT think he will hesitate to use the environment or anything else available around him to kill you if you piss him off and you waste your One Chance to run.
I miss the proper grittiness of the 9 and 10 era. There was something 'real world' about it that you could reflect with personally. Solid acting, writing and story arcs
I wonder if the show will ever capture so many hearts as it did during this era. Russel T Davies knew how to get the nation talking because of his stories. Doctor Who needs to be event television again.
The parting scene of Rose and the Tenth Doctor remains gut wrenching every time I watch it. The Doctor is hardly visible, a ghostly looking abborition, and therefore untouchable; like he was dead even after he sharpened his image for Rose. Perfectly executed as his hologram faded out before he could respond likewise to sobbing Rose; that he loved her. Back to the reality on the TARDIS and alone because of his sacrifice to save Rose. It ends with a tear streaking down his cheek. Masterfully written scene of the heartbreak of unrequited love.
They don’t care about the show anymore. they changed the character to a woman purely so the media wouldn’t cancel them. I have no problem with women acting in these kind of shows. But it’s a known fact that ever since Jodie Whittaker took over the show has declined in popularity. The show used to be a household name.
"Rude and not ginger." "I DON'T KNOOOW!" "Allons-y!" "Blood control! :D" "Sorry, that is the Lion King." "This new hand... is a fighting hand!" Those have to be my favorite quotes by David hahaha
Hindsight being 20-20... They should have had him, in full costume, light the Olympic Flame at the 2012 Olympics, and thereby fulfill the prophecy that they made themselves.
There was lots of calls for it online, but as said, they did at least get SOMEONE who played the Doctor to do it, just wrong actor. Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey, something must have kept 10 away, so 11 stepped in. The Doctor carried the torch in 2012, what's the harm in it not QUITE being the same regeneration, eh?
Back in 2005, David worried he would become known as _'The Thirty Second Doctor',_ given Series 2 wasn't actually commissioned. I wonder what he would have thought had he have known one day a video consisting just of his best moments would be 50 minutes long.
I'm going to honest- the second time I read your comment I did it correctly, but the first time going over it my brain went "Wait, there was a fear the producers would fit in 22 other individual doctors before him to make him the 32nd doctor?"
David Tennant always wanted to play as the role of doctor who.. This is why he as the 10th doctor enjoyed his role so much that many fans just love him, I cannot deny, but this doctor will always stay as my favorite
I'd forgotten how much darkness ten added to the role. Still kind, still the doctor, but hurt and broken and raging, and just a little carried away with power.
I never quite bonded with Rose and 10 the same way everyone around me claimed they did - I loved them because it was my first experience with the show, but even at the age of five I liked her better with 9 (I think it was probably because I missed him so much). It all changed in a moment though when I witnessed the absolutely harrowing screams of Ten as Rose fell into the void. I wouldn't be here without this show and it's moments like that that show me just how important life is to live to the full. I find David's acting to be his best when he's utterly destroyed... and Doomsay certainly wasn't the last we'd see of that side of 10.
I've been into Doctor Who since about 1984, after my Mom's boyfriend introduced me to it when I was 7. And Tennants Doctor is by far my favorite. His performance is enhanced by the best writing of the entire series in my opinion.
I watched blink so many times when I was younger and never understood why it was such a highly rated and loved episode, I prefered midnight and family of blood. But listening to the doctor talk to sally sparrow 40 years in the future there and realising why he couldn't tell them what to do because the angels stopped him from writing the transcript. What a well written episode.
10 is no stranger to genocide... and is willing to commit it if a species is determined to be hostile, destructive, and aggressive to the point of threatening genocides of their own. That doesn't mean he's happy about it. He's very much "Pay Evil Unto Evil", and hates that he sees it as necessary.
And Catherine Gate’s acting chops also deserve praise here too, the horror on her face. Donna was right, the Tenth Doctor needed someone with him to remind him of his mercy when he forgot himself.
Tennant was definitely the best Doctor of the modern series, and his run on the show was the golden age of Doctor Who. Nothing since has even come close to being as good.
40:52 "Dalek-Humans show increased levels of serotonin!" Within the human brain, a biological cause of aggression is the firing of the amygdala. Serotonin is a neurochemical which inhibits the firing of the amygdala. Ergo, an increase in serotonin leads to a decrease in aggressive thoughts/behaviours.
The first time I saw this scene and the kiss I thought, "Ay up..." Then I read that sure enough, they were having a relationship at the time. No way that snog was fake!
David Tenant was my 1st and last Doctor. I didn’t even know what I was watching and what a Doctor Who was. I was just attracted to the adventure and acting. I remember crying hard when Rose and the Doctor parted.
“Rose Tyler...I love you.” The line every Who fan wept over not hearing...still a better romance than Twilight. Rose and Ten...one of the Best sci-fi romances of all time...and yet they only kissed Once...and what A Kiss.
30:19 Gallifrey's first mention in the revival! And a fitting scene too, as the Time Lord Victorious awakens... The most pivotal scenes of Ten's Time Lord Victorious arc are accompanied, always, with the motif of fire and water. The Runaway Bride, The Family of Blood, Last of the Time Lords, The Fires of Pompeii, The Waters of Mars. _"Fire in the water",_ the Twelfth Doctor recounts. _"Fire in the water."_ 31:10 The true constant companion of Ten; in those moments of godly rage, he becomes amongst the very elements. Or thinks as much, at least.
The Doctor: But that implies, in this big grand scheme of gods and devils, that she's just a victim. Well, I've seen a lot of this universe. I've seen fake gods and bad gods and demi-gods and would-be gods. I've had the whole pantheon. if I believe in one thing... just one thing... I believe in her. ― Tenth Doctor 18:46
grew up with this man as the doctor as a 97 kid and he plays the doctor perfectly. bloody brilliant. an amazing actor in general too and doctor who is and has been inspiring.
David Tennant, in my opinion, gave one of the best screen performances of all time as The Doctor. He is the best Doctor, and as far as I am concerned, he will never be matched.
I disagree on both, he just became an icon due to it and he and the revival came around at such a time to imprint on people. Capaldi gave much better performances as the Doctor though he isn't my favourite Doctor
What I like about this is that in his first episode, he decides that he's going to be a no-second-chances sort of man. And by golly the writers try their hardest to keep him that way. And I don't think that was ever shown as well as in the Family of Blood/Human Nature stories where he gave them a chance by turning himself human.
Can we stop for a moment to appreciate how unbelievably awesome the string section were when playing their part in 10's theme. Seriously, give it a real good listen, and tell me it doesn't make your blood pump faster.
David Tennant is so young in his first episode! I am so used to the world weary, crow's feet David Tennant now but he has continued to get better and better! One of my favorite Tennant moments was his discussion about Walmart and Target at a convention panel. It was a bit of the Doctor in real life for me.
I've seen the Eccelston > Tennant transformation literally well over a dozen times. And i can't lie it still gets me everytime. I mean rewound this just to see it again.

I agree the tenth doctor did make the show

I don't understand any of this and every other own but thats ok
I still find it chilling how The Doctor just stands unmoved as he commits genocide on the Racnoss until Donna makes him snap out of it...
Ten committed more than one genocide
He gave them a chance to run. They made their choice
He would've stood there until he drowned. He was thinking about rose 😢
He is a veteran of a war which is described as “every moment of time burning all at once”. I doubt that is the first genocide he committed or watched.
I miss the
- I am talking!
- AND I'M NOT LISTENING!
scene. That was the moment, when David Tennant became the Doctor for me.
I miss the proper grittiness of the 9 and 10 era. There was something 'real world' about it that you could reflect with personally. Solid acting, writing and story arcs
You know he was amazing when a video of his best clips spanning the runtime of a full episode is only part 1 😉
It even lasts seven minutes *more* than a full episode!
The nostalgia when Sarah sees the tardis is absolutely the best.
I wonder if the show will ever capture so many hearts as it did during this era. Russel T Davies knew how to get the nation talking because of his stories. Doctor Who needs to be event television again.
Hey, fancy seeing you here 😜😂
@@darthyoda0662 Hello! :)
Exactly
Amen to that! And Neil Gaiman needs to write a few more episodes.
Well, with the recent news there is at least a chance this might happen again, with Russell T Davies at the helm once again :D
I love the fact that Davids doctor was kind and compassionate, but also not afraid to be ruthless
Tennant was MY Doctor, it'll never be the same without him, he lived the role and made it perfect, his shoes are gonna be super hard to fill
No one will fill that role that he left
They don’t care about the show anymore. they changed the character to a woman purely so the media wouldn’t cancel them. I have no problem with women acting in these kind of shows. But it’s a known fact that ever since Jodie Whittaker took over the show has declined in popularity. The show used to be a household name.
@@benjamindavis4974 Capaldi was decent in the beginning of his run but it really fell off
@@j.r1158 I don’t even care if a women never played in it. I still love it, stupid people, just can’t believe it

This is without a doubt, the best show I’ve ever watched. I just wish I could see it for the first time again.
I love this sentiment
"Rude and not ginger."
"I DON'T KNOOOW!"
"Allons-y!"
"Blood control! :D"
"Sorry, that is the Lion King."
"This new hand... is a fighting hand!"

allonsy Alonso! I’ve always wanted to say that! 😅
"Very Arthur Dent"
Yes! The fighting hand was absolutely brilliant, especially with the American southern accent!🤣💞
And all in one episode! They were really setting David up to be the best Doctor of NuWho!
"im burning up a sun just to say goodbye,, what a line this moment always gets me
The scene where he has to say goodbye to rose will always bring me to tears
Hindsight being 20-20...
They should have had him, in full costume, light the Olympic Flame at the 2012 Olympics, and thereby fulfill the prophecy that they made themselves.
Tbf Matt Smith did carry the flame in 2012
There was lots of calls for it online, but as said, they did at least get SOMEONE who played the Doctor to do it, just wrong actor. Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey, something must have kept 10 away, so 11 stepped in. The Doctor carried the torch in 2012, what's the harm in it not QUITE being the same regeneration, eh?
@@Blazieth a b.s. cop out
I commented on this myself a few years back
Sally Phelan's Cyberman scene always makes me cry, this human moment to show the inhumanity of the Cybermen just rips my heart out.
Back in 2005, David worried he would become known as _'The Thirty Second Doctor',_ given Series 2 wasn't actually commissioned.
I wonder what he would have thought had he have known one day a video consisting just of his best moments would be 50 minutes long.
Part 1* not just all his best moments. This is just part 1😁
He probably does know. I can't imagine a former Doctor isn't subscribed to the Doctor Who channel.
@@michaelramsey82 especially someone like David who has always loved the show, and still does
I'm going to honest- the second time I read your comment I did it correctly, but the first time going over it my brain went "Wait, there was a fear the producers would fit in 22 other individual doctors before him to make him the 32nd doctor?"
@@genzu6388 where the hell is part 2 i need it
David Tennant always wanted to play as the role of doctor who..
Capaldi has that same energy but with a more unalpologetic appraoch
If it were up to me, this video would be the length of tennant's entire era because he was absolutely amazing
god.....doomsday is such a depressing episode...it´s so depressingly well acted that you almost forget it´s a TV show
I never quite bonded with Rose and 10 the same way everyone around me claimed they did - I loved them because it was my first experience with the show, but even at the age of five I liked her better with 9 (I think it was probably because I missed him so much).
It also has the best song in the whole series, Doomsday is incredible
Made me cry like a child first time I watched it. Like for 30 mins straight
It's very sad
“Yeah well, upgrade this.”
If a line isn’t broken, don’t fix it..
That Cyberman scene still gives me chills. Modern DW doesn’t hold a candle to this incredible storytelling!
Literally could just put every second he was on screen.
Absolute diamond. David Tennant is a one-of-a-kind talent.
31:51 the shame on his face as he snaps out of God mode, jesus christ.
_What a performance._
David Tennant's Doctor and Rose's last goodbye always has me in tears.
Tennant was definitely the best Doctor of the modern series, and his run on the show was the golden age of Doctor Who. Nothing since has even come close to being as good.
Facts.
I love David. He was amazing as the Doctor. We were so fortunate to watch him.
40:52 "Dalek-Humans show increased levels of serotonin!"
Within the human brain, a biological cause of aggression is the firing of the amygdala. Serotonin is a neurochemical which inhibits the firing of the amygdala. Ergo, an increase in serotonin leads to a decrease in aggressive thoughts/behaviours.
I just love that its 51 min long and its part one 😅 explains everything about tenth doctor
That goodbye scene between The Doctor and Rose will forever get tears flowing from my eyes. I’m such an emotional wreck…
On everything I love, that "FIGHTIN' HAND" line SOLD ME. PERIOD.
David Tenant will always be the Doctor! Loved him in the role and watch his episodes over and over!
"Fantastic gardener!!" Doctor getting excited about plants. Doctor your Crowley is showing
"who are you?"
"I'm the doctor and I just snogged madam de Pompadour"
I've never watched Doctor Who but that was pure gold.
I loved how he was more impressed by her gardening skills than anything else
_"Fire in the water."_
31:10 The true constant companion of Ten; in those moments of godly rage, he becomes amongst the very elements.

Well he’s returning
I have news for you
grew up with this man as the doctor as a 97 kid and he plays the doctor perfectly. bloody brilliant. an amazing actor in general too

“Very Arthur Dent. Now there was a nice man” still one of my favorite references through all the seasons
This show is brilliant. I love it. It’s so refreshing to see something unlike any other show. I’m a new fan!
Ha. Let me know how that goes
David Tennant was my favorite doctor so far, but each doctor something special to the role!
David Tennant, in my opinion, gave one of the best screen performances of all time as The Doctor. He is the best Doctor, and as far as I am concerned, he will never be matched.
Totally agree!
This show still makes me cry 13 years after discovering it
Billie Piper says she remembers her goodbye scene with Tennant vividly
when he mocks satan after he breaks the jars, sicks his tongue out and wiggles his fingers i missed that all these years til now ahhaa
THEY FINALLY DID THE TENTH DOCTORS BEST MOMENTS 😄!
Can we stop for a moment to appreciate how unbelievably awesome the string section were when playing their part in 10's theme. Seriously, give it a real good listen, and tell me it doesn't make your blood pump faster.
I mean his era of the show was literally the best era, it made Doctor Who famous to new viewers.
“I don’t wanna go’ had me crying 😖😖😖😭😣😖
That scene from The Family of Blood always gets to me. Tennent really portrays that cold fury really well to me.

My favourite part is when he the Doctor is with Donna. So many good laughs and so much crying.
I'm watching all Doctor Who in order this year, and I start thinking that Russel T Davies had all his four series planned in advance...
I think so to like look at David first episode not giving Sycorax a second chance. Just foreshadow has darkest moments in has era.
