Worst part is we could have easily gotten a similar moment with the twelfth doctor in the episode smile (emoji robots), when Bill asked why the Doctor is Scottish. They missed it.

I've never noticed how close the 9th and 12th Doctors are. I can imagine Capaldi doing some of these exact scenes with that witty, zero-tolerance attitude they both shared.

I love how confrontational and unafraid he is. He just came straight out of the time war, nothing intimidates him anymore.
3:50 is nine in a nutshell, he'll be jokey, he'll boast a bit, he'll make someone feel a bit small, then he'll be dark and furious, then a second later he's light and has a smile on. I absolutely adore that unpredictability, I hope we see some of it in 13 or any future doctors.
I honestly feel like 12 and 9 were fairly similar in their attitudes, while being entirely different! 12 felt far more stable but was never lacking in the sarcasm and irritation! Gotta say, I've been fairly picky with my liking of Doctors but 9, and 10 (and 12 within the past couple years) have absolutely sold it for me since I was little!

The oncoming sass
9 is the first Doctor I ever saw. It’s a shame that he doesn’t think of himself as the Doctor because I always will. He is the best in my not so humble opinion.
The idea is that he doesn’t consider himself the Doctor because he is the Variation directly Proceeding the Doctor of War, the 8th Incarnation that Trapped Gallifrey in a single Second of Time for All Eternity, Locked in Perpetual War.
Therefore, Eccleston’s version doesn’t consider himself the “Doctor” anymore because he had Just barely Doomed his entire Planet and People before we meet him for the first time.
Chris Ecclestone's the best Doctor in New Who. Matt Smith is my favourite but Ecclestone's era as a whole had the best execution.

I grew up with his doctor, Chris was my doctor as a kid since I was 7 turning 8 when Doctor Who was brought back. I was devastated with him leaving, but David grew on me with Matt as well

Ricky was the name of Mickey in the parallel universe in the episode “Rise of the Cybermen” & “Age of Steel”. Is it possible that the 9th Doctor had some sort of encounter with the Ricky in the parallel universe? Or even possibly with the Cybermen? Could become a Big Finish 9th Doctor story...

The Ninth Doctor's attitude is narrative brilliance. After all, he was The Doctor right after the Time War. All those years of killing, he must've forgotten all his humanity, and essentially regressed to what the First Doctor was like in An Unearthly Child. Grumpy, distrusting of humans, and wanting to be left alone. After all, the 2005 episode Rose was basically a soft reboot of the franchise.
