One of the finest reviews by FT in a long time. The chemistry between Josh and Austen is terrific. Mature and informed dialog without some of the craziness that recent videos have had. MORE of the two of you, please!
I see the last comment was a year ago, just shows how long I've been wanting to purchase these goggles. I finally received mine a week ago. I have been flying the Phantom 4 Pro now for a couple years and I want to get the Mavic 2 before I go on vaction next January. I got the goggles first just to make sure it's what you say and I LOVE THEM!!! My flying has improved greatly. I can see everything now without fighting the glare on the ipad. The Mavic 2 next ! (I can't wait)
HELLO from mass. From a toy hellicopter as a kid to my dream honeymoon helicopter ride in Maui. (my wife and I), to the purchase of my first beginner drone today. aviation rocks! you keep our spirits high. thank you.
Hi guys great review. I bought one and i had my first trial just now. I must say it is great yes, a new level of experience. But i am kinda confused between the head camera tracking and head movement/pilot mode. I chose the head camera gimbal tracking but when i turned my head left the drone turned left?? How so? Also there was a time when i wasnt turning my head but the drone was spinning. I was worried so i turned the goggle off and resumed flight with the remote. Is there anyway to reset everything so the goggle and the gimbal is synced straight? When the drone took off i wasnt behind it thats probably why, but i used the center camera command (the very right option when you double down swipe) but it didnt work, any thought? Thanks again great review
OK, it's official...... There's a conspiracy by DJI to bankrupt me......... LOL.... Already have a Phantom 2V, an Inspire 1, and a Mavic.. Now I gotta get these goggles... And to make matters worse (better), now there's the Spark! Sheesh... :-D
OMG! They are now compatible with the Mavic Air. A bit limited in functionality but the experience is all that. I've never flown smoother with my Air than when I used these.
I am not sure if you mentioned this cool feature and I missed it, but for the 'passenger' wearing the other headset, he could have his own cam that also moves independent of the 'driver'. So he would be able to look around for an added sense of freedom. This could be useful for search and rescue also. I know it would mean redesigning the craft, but I would like to see this done.

So am thinking your eye could adapt
How do you know if you're going to hit something? For example, in your video you were close to the red tower. Are you able to gauge the distance well enough to avoid hitting it? Great video BTW.
I told you guys the other day i was going to get the Mavic and these goggles ..well today i decided that for the money the Spark will be better for my needs. I just hope the info i received that the goggles work with the spark as well as the Mavic is true ..any info from you guys will be awesome.
Great video, very well done. At one point in the video there is a Mavic Pro with the camera going from left to right, back and forth. This was happening while you were moving your head in the same manner. Previously I had been told that the camera does not move in this manner. Am I wrong or is this a new capability??
Can head tracking be used while active tracking is on. meaning if I want to have my drone follow my RC Car in an open area, can I set the Drone controller down near by or hang it from my neck, and control my Rc Car from the prospective of the drone, while it follows it?
I watched videos and tried to research what to get for my 1st drone keeping in mind I was wanting to be able to get footage to use on youtube... I couldnt be happier. I purchased a mavic 2 pro, goggles, and fly more kit. I feel better amd better each day that I made the best choice for which drone to get ... Hi guys I just am getting into the hobby and love it vids I just got a ft tiny trainer but am throughly confused by the electronics I was wondering if u had any vids that explained the electronics in great detail. Sorry for the run on sentence.
I’m interested in getting these goggles but I wear glasses and was not sure if they would fit over.. in less then 3 min I had my answer! You guys rock!
I just received my DJI Googles yesterday and had to send them back. Came with a dead pixel, the screens would ghost one screen or the other so menus were a bit odd (as in it would show the HUD for the Mavic and when going to the settings it would transparently flip the other screen like they were bouncing off each other), and then the head-band wouldn't stay adjusted. Other than that I did love it. Even connected my Nintendo Switch and started playing Breath of the Wild on it... jeez did this get VERY immersive. If FlightTest could contact me on why these issues are happening; that would be awesome because DJI Customer Service has some language barriers (during the online chat experience as did contact them after hours)
Yeah DJI CS could give a ratz arse about you after you buy their products. I own a bunch of different drones and DJI is the absolute worst of supporting the end user. Give me Yuneec or Autel anyday, hell even 3D Robotics who no longer makes their Solo has better CS than DJI does.
Yep. Anyone who has followed DJI since way back when they began making flight controllers such as the Naza and Wookong-M knows that DJI is all about rushing products to the market prematurely (think s800 with floppy arms, WKM compass issue, ...), secretly using customers as beta testers (think of many, many firmware updates for various products: Naza, WKM, OSDs, Lightbridge, ...), trying to make everything as proprietary as possible (think gimbals that only work with their flight controllers or entire zenmuse gimbal series that is one-camera specific), giving flat-out empty promises about needed firmware and hardware fixes, ignoring customer complaints while at the same time shamelessly targeting them with ads for new products, ripping clients off with way overpriced technology whenever they're the first to make it (think $3,500 zenmuse z15n, five thousand dollars for a few waypoints for WKM, over $500 for tiny, 2-axis H3-2D go-pro gimbal, ...), never admitting fault and then turning around and producing new versions that address these same faults (think s800 evo), ditching any support whatsoever for a LONG list of products (think groundstation), pushing what appear to be good deals only to turn around and end support for that product or render it obsolete (think deal on waypoints and then making them free), creating firmware that actually makes products perform worse (think elimination of ramped tilt on H3-2D), ... I'm sure the list goes on and on; but, I ditched DJI several years ago, about right after they released the Phantom 2, and I've been waiting for other companies to out-compete them and put them in their place. I spent years reading RCGroups and other forums, where I watched those new to DJI slowly twist their face in disgust as DJI's true colors began to shine through. Honestly, DJI is greedy and unscrupulous, and doesn't care about their customers any more than needed to take their money. For them, it's not the customer who is always right, it is DJI who is always right.
I would like to know what distance it works to. Heard the Mavic can go 7km, what's the viewing and controlling like through the goggles. Still good at that distance?
Great review guys...with the HDMI input, can you plug your Falcore into these goggles like you can with the Avegant Glyphs? Hoping these can be used with more than DJI products. I saw you can hook up game and movie devices, so I think that this might work.
So quick Q re. the "watching movies on an airplane" comment - I realise this is probably the farthest use away from its intended use :-D But can you confirm that you can in fact load movies/TV shows onto an SD card and then play them on the goggles? Because not only does your on-screen caption at that point say "SD card reader can only preview footage" but I've also read elsewhere that only DJI preview movies can be viewed on the SD card..... I'm assuming if that *is* the case then they might unlock the playback of other formats via firmware update later? I mean, being able to use the DJI goggles to also view a movie on a long flight or not isn't a dealbreaker, but it absolutely would be a nice bonus feature....
What a great product I have the race edition version and guess what they don’t work with the new MAVIC AIR 2 even though it has ocusync 2. I am really disappointed DJI are missing the point not having it the MAVIC 2 pro has ocusync 2 and the Goggles work with that. If you have DJIs ears please point this out. Cheers. Great UA-cam site, thanks for all of your hard work keeping the hobby going.
looks like another great product from dji , only negative I can see is they are too big IMO to be paired up with a folding travel drone such as the mavic
The controls on the right side of the goggles are a worry for me. I only have 1 arm and that's on my left so I miss out on loads of features with this product. any idea if they will be making a ambidextrous version.?
Something I have not seen addressed, with regard to wearing "glasses" with these goggles, is ... should you be looking through "near - mid-range (if you have it) or distant" portion of the lens? Thanks! Great videos!
Spot on guys - the goggles are excellent. The only shortcoming with the googles is there are not any HDMI to 3rd party connectors for game and mobile devices where there is not HDMI connection. It would help to have thrown in a connector for a $500 product. The goggles have exceeded my expectations.
I was a avid DJI user when they first started selling drones. I was disappointed with a few of the drones, flight controllers and that white remote they sold with the phantom. I'm glad to see them find their nitch in the consumer market. The mavic with those goggles is what I envisioned with my first commercial system. I got the fat sharks with the intention of using the head tracking for the camera, but it wasn't as smooth as I planned. It looks like this is it though. I've been eyeing the mavic for a while now and I think that might have done it for me.
At 5:32 you say that you can move the lenses in and out? How is that done. On my goggles I can't find that adjustment, only the adjustment to widen the lenses. Also, it would be great if Dji would make a nice diopter set for folks like us that need bifocals to see close up. Thanks foe the video, job well done guys... thumbs up 👍
Hi there guys thanks for this review. I want to use these googles with the head track with a second person video guy only to do the video side of the flying, on the Mavic. But the question I have is does the DJI Goggles offer controls to the video and photos, quick change of aperture and start stop of video and photo mode? Also once the goggles are plugged in does it cut out the live feed to your phone for the person flying? Whats your thought, is it worth it in this role?
Would you guys at Flight Test think that if I use a Mavic down at my lodge in Zambia to film wild life, that the goggles would improve quality and also make it easier to get those really good shots? Zambia is usually 25-35 C with sunshine str8 from above. I got a pod of Hippos that live just on the other side of the river from where my place is, I would love to fly out to them now and then to film them, seeing how there family dynamics works. Also gets Elephants crossing the river, some times lions. I think that the Mavic seams to be a good package to use to film these events with its long range.
Hey fox, first of all, you bouth do a greate job. You explain in your review, that you are able to save the smartphone battery while you not using it. It seems for me that it is possible to use the googles and your smart phone at the same time. So you are able to see on your controller (with smartphone conected) what the person with the google see (look around and so...)?
Hey guys awesome video! PLEASE - Could you guys do a mini video DJI GOOGLES+Connex Falcore for those of us that run that system. Let us know if there's a latency feeling, if we can adjust it to 720P @ 60fps and it's visual quality that would be fantastic!!! Thanks!
Hey Flite Test, I'm getting them for my Mavic but I'm also interested in going digital with my race quads. I would love to see you test out the performance of the HDMI input with the Connex Prosight HD FPV system. Thanks and congrats on the 700k+ subs.
I really enjoy my goggles, but I don't see a way to Change the settings on the distance. I personally like to use feet instead of meters. Do you have any insight on this?
I have the phantom 4 pro. Does that work the same when you hook up the hdmi cable to it. Do you get the on screen display touch pad ect or is that just with the mavic
This is a very good review of the goggles. I bought the goggles months ago when they were released, but I only have a P3P so I was missing a lot of the experience. I just ordered the new Mavic Pro Platinum and I’m looking forward to a much better flight and goggle experience. Thanks for the info
Wow seems like a great product ! I saw it today in Chengdu here in China and started thinking whether I should buy those in the near future. This video ensured me that it will be a great investment.
I'm trying to convince my mother to get me a drone. Which DJI drones would your recommend that are friendly to first-timers? Would you recommend these goggles too?
Hey guys I was looking at Mavic reviews several months ago and found your channel. I haven't flown RCs or even purchased a Mavic yet but have been hooked on your channel ever since :) I've actually been meaning to write this post for some time just to let you all know I'm super excited about what you guys are doing esp with your emphasis on relationships and families. Not to mention you guys crack me up and my wife is wondering what in the world I'm watching :) I went back the the beginning of Flitetest and watching the earliest and the latest. I've also learned a lot to improve my own UA-cam channel. I started writing this on the "Mavic Giveaway" Episode but thought it best to pass on my compliment "no strings attached." Love you guys! Keep up the good work!
Can these standard Dji goggles work with the iFlight Bumblebee HD CineWhoop PNP BNF FPV Racing Drone that has the DJI Digital FPV System built on board???
Can the goggles be used to make basic flight moves - up down forward backward? I know they can steer the Mavik, but can they determine altitude and speed (other than the automatic stuff in the intelligent flight settings?)
I currently us a Samsung Tablet with my controller (hardwired) I do not use if wireless due to disconnection issues, can these goggles be "hardwired" as well?
Does it work with a phantom 3 pro, perhaps tethered? I have a mavic but was just wondering if it would work with older phantoms. thanks and great review!
I was considering the Mavic pro but I have two gps drones already, so i was just going to buy some more planes. But now with these googles in the mix!!! I hope they offer this in a combo deal. Cus I will be saving up. But since its summer here in AZ and in the 100`s. It will wait til fall. Thanks for the great review!
Excellent video guys. Planning on purchasing both the Mavic and these goggles in the near future. It would be nice to see you use these googls with the mavic in sport mode and really test it, flying fast, through narrow areas etc.
I just got the goggles. I find that they fall off my head very easily esp. when you flip them up. I think they work best when the wearer does not have much or any hair. They are also pretty heavy. I will probably return them before I activate them

Couldn't agree more. As much as I love the Vlogs where they are goofing around the good old reviews where you really get an insight are so good.
I second that. This was one of the best reviews I've seen from FT since the start and the best review I've seen on the DJI goggles so far.
count me in!

Haha We have to agree Rod... DJI is killin it! ;) ha
Cause their products are so good 😊
Just dont sell your house for these things. Lol
Hi Rod, Considering the Inspire 1 v2 over the Mavic Pro with these Goggles. Suggestions Maestro..? Thank you in advance... :-)
LOL, if only bankruptcy was ever so joyful!
Do you guys know if DJI will release an HD cam/Xmitter system that can be used on planes?
should have mine June 10th, I'm only watching this for confirmation bais of my purchase
You guys rock. Still considering to get a pair for my own channel.
Thanks for video. Do you even need a phone connected to the controller when using the goggles?
Now years later..how does this compare to the new DJI racing edition googles? Does the shorter latency really make a difference?
OMG! They are now compatible with the Mavic Air. A bit limited in functionality but the experience is all that. I've never flown smoother with my Air than when I used these.
Not that you would but could you use the goggles inside and fly the mavic outside with the ocusync? Any degrading in the fpv?
Great video, thanks.
Just curious...
Notice any motion-sickness at all while using the headset?
So is it worth to buy? Im still not shure
Nice review. What is the effective range with these goggles?
Thank you for review!
Best review of this goggles till now. I hope it remains the best because no one can beat you in this thing.
Your video is awesome but I have to ask a question If a person can only see out of one eye how will the goggles affect that if any
just an observation, I had a friend who got his regular pilots licsense 25+ years ago, and he lost an eye in the forestry as a logger, he was told it could not be done, so he bought a Cessna 150 or 152 and made a landing strip and practiced till he got it perfect, he told me the single eye will adapt for this type of use, with practice. So am thinking your eye could adapt
How do you know if you're going to hit something? For example, in your video you were close to the red tower. Are you able to gauge the distance well enough to avoid hitting it? Great video BTW.
Awesome video.
What range to these goggles have?
Hey guys...nice review. Quick question... can I connect my other 5.8 vtx's on my race drones with this headset as well as the dji drones?
I told you guys the other day i was going to get the Mavic and these goggles ..well today i decided that for the money the Spark will be better for my needs. I just hope the info i received that the goggles work with the spark as well as the Mavic is true ..any info from you guys will be awesome.
would you recommend these goggles to buy or just wait for their competition?
Great video, very well done.
At one point in the video there is a Mavic Pro with the camera going from left to right, back and forth. This was happening while you were moving your head in the same manner. Previously I had been told that the camera does not move in this manner. Am I wrong or is this a new capability??

Hi guys I just am getting into the hobby and love it vids I just got a ft tiny trainer but am throughly confused by the electronics I was wondering if u had any vids that explained the electronics in great detail. Sorry for the run on sentence.
I’m interested in getting these goggles but I wear glasses and was not sure if they would fit over.. in less then 3 min I had my answer! You guys rock!

Can y'all do a DJI spark review? It's their new, smaller drone that they just came out with it
looks like another great product from dji , only negative I can see is they are too big IMO to be paired up with a folding travel drone such as the mavic

Is it possible to have the same screen as you do on the phone/app? I don't see controller signal strength, flight time etc..
Would you guys at Flight Test think that if I use a Mavic down at my lodge in Zambia to film wild life, that the goggles would improve quality and also make it easier to get those really good shots? i am about to order the dji mavic air fly more and goggles :)
What is the range? Can you go the full 4 miles with the goggles and the phone?
Thanks guys. Just getting into drones and starting the hobby. Find ur videos really helpful and looking forward to more that u put out.
Just bought them, have not received them yet, will be a blast :) running my Mavic Pro
that head tracking is pretty cool
Hey guys awesome video!
PLEASE - Could you guys do a mini video DJI GOOGLES+Connex Falcore for those of us that run that system. Let us know if there's a latency feeling, if we can adjust it to 720P @ 60fps and it's visual quality that would be fantastic!!! Thanks!
Is your opinion the same if used with the Phantom 4 Pro Plus?
Hey Flite Test, I'm getting them for my Mavic but I'm also interested in going digital with my race quads. I would love to see you test out the performance of the HDMI input with the Connex Prosight HD FPV system. Thanks and congrats on the 700k+ subs.
Thanks for the thought Olivier!! Great Idea and ill put it on the list!
Blessings!
I'm told that these will work with my Dji 4 Pro + , But the menu section can't be used with the Pro +, only the pro 4 ? Is this true ??
I really enjoy my goggles, but I don't see a way to Change the settings on the distance. I personally like to use feet instead of meters. Do you have any insight on this?
So it's an 8.5 out of 10 because it's too good?
I have the phantom 4 pro. Does that work the same when you hook up the hdmi cable to it. Do you get the on screen display touch pad ect or is that just with the mavic
This is a very good review of the goggles. I bought the goggles months ago when they were released, but I only have a P3P so I was missing a lot of the experience. I just ordered the new Mavic Pro Platinum and I’m looking forward to a much better flight and goggle experience. Thanks for the info
So is it real? They work with p3p via USB?
I just bought them but the weather here in Rhode Island is bad so I'm so anxious!!! I have the Magic Pro and Phantom 4 Pro...can't wait......!!! lol
When will dual camera 3d come out? So you can judge distances?
Really enjoyed your review, thank you! Now it's time to invest in more DJI products! Any thoughts on DJI refurbished items?
Wow seems like a great product ! I saw it today in Chengdu here in China and started thinking whether I should buy those in the near future. This video ensured me that it will be a great investment.
why everyone don't like your videos thy must like it because its so cool 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'm trying to convince my mother to get me a drone. Which DJI drones would your recommend that are friendly to first-timers? Would you recommend these goggles too?
Kinda off topic can I plug my dslr through hdmi cable. I'm looking for a duel purpose device to be a videographer as well as fly my copter
Do the goggles work with DJI Mavic air thanks
Say, you gonna check out that DJI Spark? I'm intrigued.
Hi! are we able to use this for third party fpv set up on rc car?
So I've ordered the DJI Spark. Now I'm just waiting for your review to see if I've made a good purchase or not ;) Any comment??
I got my pair of goggles Wednesday, I'm having issues with fogging up...did you guys experience that?
Can you guys review the new dji spark and do a shoot out between the spark and the breeze?
Can the goggles be used to make basic flight moves - up down forward backward? I know they can steer the Mavik, but can they determine altitude and speed (other than the automatic stuff in the intelligent flight settings?)
Thanks guys! I really appreciate your genuine presentation!
Unbelievable how easy it is to follow your videos. This old man love y'all. Keep it up with the amazing passion you show.💝
Are you guys going to get and review the DJI spark?
Possibly! ;)
How long does it take to charge these, and does it charge over USB C?
where did you get your decal?
On thw last video I forgot to say congrats on 700k subscribers so...
CONGRATS ON 700K SUBSCRIBERS!!
Is it worth getting the RE over this. I just want to explore.
I currently us a Samsung Tablet with my controller (hardwired) I do not use if wireless due to disconnection issues, can these goggles be "hardwired" as well?
2020 and these are quite affordable and available on 2nd hand market...
nice...where?
Hey are you guys going to do a review of the new DJI Goggles Racing Edition?
Does it work with a phantom 3 pro, perhaps tethered? I have a mavic but was just wondering if it would work with older phantoms. thanks and great review!
Jacob Hansen they work with anything later than the 3 advanced
Elijah Drew thank you!
I was considering the Mavic pro but I have two gps drones already, so i was just going to buy some more planes. But now with these googles in the mix!!! I hope they offer this in a combo deal. Cus I will be saving up. But since its summer here in AZ and in the 100`s. It will wait til fall. Thanks for the great review!
will these work with Phantom 3 Pro after the HDMI module has been installed?
Excellent video guys. Planning on purchasing both the Mavic and these goggles in the near future. It would be nice to see you use these googls with the mavic in sport mode and really test it, flying fast, through narrow areas etc.
Can I fly with the remote and have a 2nd use the head tracking feature to control the camera?
Josh Dance yes
I ordered these goggles 3 months ago on April 24th and still have not received them....WTF.
I just got the goggles. I find that they fall off my head very easily esp. when you flip them up. I think they work best when the wearer does not have much or any hair. They are also pretty heavy. I will probably return them before I activate them
Have a pair of Headplays. Do I have to sell them and buy these 😨😈😬😠😣?
