Astra Militarum Conversion: From Cadians to Canadians
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 чер 2024
- In this video, we're taking the Astra Militarum and giving them a unique twist by transforming them into a Canadian Combat Patrol! Join me as we delve into the world of Warhammer 40K conversions and painting, bringing a touch of Canadian flair to the imperium's mighty defense forces.
We'll start by building 20 infantrymen, making key modifications to their weapons and gear to reflect a distinctly Canadian aesthetic. Watch as we lengthen lasguns, add bayonets, and mount scopes inspired by Canada's record-breaking sniper shot. We'll also be wrapping the guns in camo tape for a cohesive look.
Next, we'll tackle the iconic headgear, converting standard helmets into the round brimmed hats of the Canadian Mounted Police using plastic card and some modeling techniques.
Once the conversions are complete, we'll move on to painting. Using a quick tabletop method, we'll apply contrast paints to achieve a striking red uniform with detailed highlights. We'll also paint the trousers, boots, and accessories to match the traditional dress of the Canadian Mounted Police, tying everything together with meticulous detail.
This video isn't just about creating a visually stunning army, it's also about having fun with unique themes and bringing a bit of history and humor to our beloved Astra Militarum. Whether you're a seasoned Warhammer hobbyist or a newcomer looking for inspiration, this step-by-step guide will help you create a distinctive and memorable army.

I thought I read the thumbnail incorrectly 😂😂 as a Canadian, I approve.
Glad you like it.
On this occasion, it was planned and not a typeo 😀
Hope you have a great week 😀

Weird fact: In WWI, the Canadian Corps were noted to be unusually ruthless, brutal, and aggressive. No one has been able to tell why definitively, and the Germans viewed them as unpredictable savages. They were especially notable as trench raiders, and were even called Shocktroopers sometimes.
So like. Fear the Canadians I guess.
Hey
Cheers, i did not know that. That beats out my fact on the longest shot.
Hope all is well and the week is enjoyable.
We’re generally quite friendly until we’re not.
I like the weird emphasis placed on the Astra Militarum being 'MOSTLY human' in the opening lines of this video.
As if to imply that Canadians are not human.
Haha 😄 🤣
I never even thought about it that way. I had more been thinking the ratlins and ogryns.
I can not help the inference 😀
Bw and hope all is well
Even though i know nothing about 40k/Warhammer, this video was a lot of fun too watch. What a great idea for a video! Fantastic thematic conversion!
Thanks, that means alot 😀
Glad you liked it and hope you have a great weekend when it arrives 😀
If you have any thoughts for other styles let me know hah

“Ah, gee, eh, I hate ta be a bother, but ye gotta go forwards fer the empr’er, eh?”
- Canadian Commissar…. Probably
🤣😂🤣😂🤣🫡
If I do a video on a commissar paint job for this force, I may need to nick that as an intro quote 😀
Please do!
😁
nice customs. your video and editing is great, i recommend a backdrop the red wall/purple backlight isn't it
Thanks for the feedback. It's on the books and changing "Scene" in Novemeber, but will bare this in mind and look to sort for the mean while :)
Thanks again 😀
Very cool 👍👍
Thanks
I'm glad you like them. It was a fun project 😀

Very very cool man love custome guard regiments
Hey
Cheers, I'm glad you like it. 😀If you have any suggestions on other options for future kits let me know 😉
Hope all is well
@TheMiniPaintingPage Oooo I've always wanted to do a platoon of Tanith or Highlanders. I've got some stls of kilts but I've just never got round to it.
That sounds great, I don't have a kit of them around, but I will need to keep an eye out for them, as I may nab that idea 😀
I might not be able to do it justice, but it does sound like a fun project 😄
Bw
@TheMiniPaintingPage There's so many guard projects I want to do but so little time xD. I've bought a million stls that I might never get round to using
Ahh I still have yet to take the plunge into 3d printing at home, feel like that's a whole seperate ballgame and expense haha
However totally agree on the time side :) I have been on a bit of an "inspired conversions" hype at the moment 😀
Bw
very cool
Thankyou very much 😊
Hope you have a good weekend
If you were using the RCMP as the inspiration, why are the Stetsons not a tan colour?
Hey
So oddly I touch on that in a little more detail in the video I am editing at the moment (for the command squad)
In brief as to not spoil the next in series, I went for black for colour ratio and scheme balance when it it comes to other models in the army.
I was hoping someone would notice as I cut the reference from this video as it was a bit lengthy :)
Hope the weekend is going well 😀
Canadian eh !
Not sure how to reply to that haha
So will say thanks 😄

@@TheMiniPaintingPage Got that from the Simpsons !!!!...happy gaming :)
Hello! I'm designing a skirmish game and was wondering if you are interested in playtesting it. (You could use your Canadians, eh?)
Hey
That sounds awesome, I cannot say I am really the best person but always happy to look over. I can then come back if its something I have capability and capacity to playtest.
What is the game about ?
@@TheMiniPaintingPage My game is called Tempest, and is set in an undescribed time on earth where storms cause armies across different times and settings to collide. (Basically an excuse to use any minis) I'm currently playtesting it with my friends, but want some more feedback from other wargamers. I'm putting together a brief rule page that will hopefully be ready in a day or so.
Sounds good. Drop a comment back here once you're sorted if you still want me to have a look.
Then we can sort bits out :)
I have completed the game! At least, everything to know how to play. It's all in a google docs.
