    Great review. Are actual videos decent to watch on UA-cam? Would it be faster without the color?

    I am searching for a good comic book app on the boox devices. I tried the default reader app, but I would prefer something with automatic panel detection like the smart comic app I have on my iPad. Any suggestions from the android AppStore?

    Great video, thanks. Google drive and google file formats like sheets. On the boox site it says the following: ''Google proprietary file formats, including Google Docs, Google Slides, etc., are not available for being downloaded and opened at the moment''. but you seem to open a google document on google drive. Is that mean that you can download google documents to work offline? Thanks for your help.

      For my use, all I need is to open PDF files and entry some data onto spreadsheets (like google sheets). For security reasons, my company doesn't allow us to login to work accounts (office 365) in devices that are not manage by the organization.

      @KitBetts-Masters  Рік тому

      Yeah, you can use Google drive files within the Google apps just fine, just not in the Boox software. 🙂

      Yes, but you can probably let your company have admin rights to your drive. (My company's the same, but it works in MS work mode.)

      I work in education as well, but we can only access work data (including logging to apps) from the devices supplied and manged by the organization. (IT has to be able to manage use, updates etc...)@@KitBetts-Masters

    Could you make a video like this for thr Air 3C.. For sure there's overlap, but maybe for note taking with a pen, or other stuff you'll use a different one.

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Рік тому

      Yeah, interesting, I'm wondering if the apps I use are more about my use case, rather than anything specific to the tablet. I suppose you are right though that I would be more likely to use a spreadsheet or equivalent on the Ultra, and more likely to stick to the note taking app and reading apps on the Note.

    I don’t log in with my personal accounts on it because I don’t trust it security wise. I created a new Google account just to use with my boox. Any thoughts on that ?

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Рік тому +1

      That certainly would give you piece of mind if you are worried. I confess I am a little too trusting with tech things, but I think that given andoid 11 still has security support from google I feel ok about it at the minute. I think that we will probably see Boox devices stay on the last android version which is currently supported for security updates. That being said the next android version is out soon, and I imagine that will come with news of home long android 11 will be supported for. Thanks so much!

    Morning. I'm after some advice - I won a Lenovo tab M10 Plus 3rd gen and am looking at using it to enhance productivity for work. There is a pen that's available so that's covered. Now is the tricky bit - software that will fulfill my needs with OCR included. I'm after a note taker with diary and that will enable me to extract task lists from meeting notes and then set reminders in a calendar for the tasks. I also need to orgnaise better, as with a conventional paper book, all my notes are in one continuous "thread" so no orgnaisation for reference. I may well use Otter (thanks for that) to help too, but need to then orgasnise Otter notes into the right "area".
    Any help would be magnificent as it's getting me down and taking up too much time as well as I'm occassionally missing things due to lack of reminders / organisation. I definately don't want a(nother) keyboard, hence pen and OCR requirement. I'm looking to leverage eqpt I already have to try to save my pennies in buying another device, hence the ask for for my tab.
    Thanks!

      I'm not sure exactly what you are asking here? Is it advice on which app to use to organise your notes?
      I personally use xTiles, which meets my needs very well. I really like how I can customise the boards to be basically whatever structure I like. But I have also used Trello in the past which I really like. (And you are right, I use Otter to make the text and then I copy it out into a knowledge management app.)
      The other one to try is notion, which is a lot of people's favourite!

    • @leeroberts163
      @leeroberts163 Рік тому

      @@KitBetts-Masters Yep, app or apps. But they need to work together. EG Otter, bu then to use that and integrate into one (unsure it's possible) app that I can use a handwritten note to convert into a calendar reminder / alert / to do list. Essentially, I'm after a note taking / OCR thing that I can then grab my scribbles and make into either / and OCR text to be able to then push to calender / reminder / to do list(s). But I need the notes to be able to be captured in differnt "folders". Is a big ask. I don't feel that there is one app that melds all this. Cos ££ and skills of devs / wants (££) of companies.
      Again, thanks. Happy to chat if required. Interesting niche, as if I'm asking there be PLENTY of others who want this too.

      It worked just fine from the play store for me. Don't worry though it does not work very well as with most apps with stylus input apart from the boox own brand apps.

      Yeah, but teams is more than just for video calls. And I can imagine myself joining on a tablet as well as a laptop and sharing the screen of the tablet. This is something I used to do on my iPad during the pandemic for remote teaching.

    I've been using Penly with my Samsung Tablet and my Samsun S22 Ultra and really like that app. I tried it on my brand new Boox Tab C Pro tablet, but it seems to exhibit a lot of lag when writing. I thought I watched a video saying that Penly worked well with Boox Tablets. Is this correct? Am I missing a setup that can make it work well, or do you also exhibit bad lag when writing on the Penly app? Thanks for the info. Anyone else that know the answer, please feel free to chime in. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kit,
    I'd like to inquire about the grayscale quality of this device. I currently own the Bigme InkNote Colour+, but one issue I have with it is that it's not comfortable to read and use in dim or dark conditions. I feel the ink doesn't stand out as clearly as it does on B&W readers. Since I frequently read in the dark before going to bed, do you think this device offers better color quality and clearer black and white text compared to the Bigme? Or would you recommend I simply opt for a B&W reader for this purpose?

    • @rol9408
      @rol9408 Рік тому

      I've had the reMarkable 2 before and I've currently got the Tab Ultra C Pro. It feels like the ink on the TUCP doesn't 'pop' out as much as it did on the RM2.
      I did only use the RM2 for about 2 weeks so I don't remember exactly but I certainly feel as though it was easier to see. The TUCP seems to absorb more light, rather than reflecting it.
      That being said, I can read both in low-lighting. I usually have red lights on in my home, which are the least bright and weakest colour. Plus, the TUCP has the backlight which I find, with turning it off to the LOWEST possible backlight strength allow me to see absolutely fine in any light, I never need higher than it and in your case, in addition to it being the least bright backlight setting, you can make the colour 'warmer' so with it being dim and a red-y backlight, it shouldn't cause you any problems with regard to keeping you awake.

    Hi Kit, great reviews! I have the reMrkable 2 and I love the design with the leather folio. I dont need the type folio for remarkable. How is the quality feel with the ultra c? How does the folio compare to remarkable, is it like a mechanichal notebook in feel and look? The thing with remarkable is that in a meeting, it looks like a notebook, not an Ipad. For reference I have used an ipad pro 12,9 as a notetaking device, but the remarkable with its e-ink screen is a relife :) Does the ultra c have both a folio and a type folio? It would be great if you showed it on a video :) The reason I am interesting in the ultra c, is the ability to use onenote, teams etc, I am a teacher and office 365 is very intergrated in everything I do.

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Рік тому

      Yeah, it is amazing for that. Yes the Ultra has both folio options, I would say that they are not quite as premium feeling as the remarkable, but that is a pretty high bar to be honest. It sounds like the ideal middle ground between your ipad and the remarkable!

    I downloaded Chrome to mine but it doesn't appear on the desktop. Any idea why? When I go into the Play store to download it again, it says "Open" since it was already downloaded. I click and Chrome does indeed open. I just can't find it on my device lol

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Рік тому

      I had the same issue, but for some reason it allowed me to add it into the "tools" folder but not to place it on the home screen for some reason. Just a weird bug really but easy enough to live with.

    Bing, NeoBrowser, and Chrome are all Chromium under the covers, so it makes sense that they behave the same.
    I'm wondering if the browsers excel at "clearing up" because they have been designed to work with progressive image enhancement over slow networks since forever. I.e. they don't just splat an image on the screen, they splat a box, then build the image in that spot from low quality to high quality. They do this so that you have a usable webpage quickly with fewer jumps and bounces as it builds. Ads kind of screw this up, as we all know, of course.
    In contrast, the home view on the device is a more traditional UI without that advanced image deployment.
    Anyway. Maybe that's what going on. My speculation.

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Рік тому

      That's a really interesting take on it. Thanks for this. There's certainly something going on which makes some apps work better than others. Hopefully e-ink gets so popular that apps start to come with built in modes optimised for e-ink.

    It's a real _'Swiss Army Knife'_ and I don't know if it is _now challenging or complimenting'_ the personal computer and/or iPad. Currently, it is difficult to see it replacing *most* users need for computer/iPad... while I muse the possibility of Apple striking it a death blow by releasing an e-ink version of the iPad at a competitive price.
    Though tempted I'm still holding out for the A4X as it meets my current needs more perfectly than anything on the market, but if I didn't already own a Mac and an iPad mini... it would be the _Tab Ultra C_ for me.
