    This is by far my favourite kind of plastic surgery video. It's lovely to see people get their normal lives back after something out of their control has happened to them. It's clear from Dr. Youn's commentary that this kind of plastic surgery is also among his favourites, and I can only imagine how satisfying it must be to be able to do such good and positive work.

    I love seeing this side of plastic surgery. I feel like we usually think of implants and things people want, but this is more about giving someone their life back.

    My mom had a mastectomy during her breast cancer treatment and I saw firsthand how life-giving plastic surgery could be. Her confidence went through the roof (plus, she gets to brag about insurance covering her tummy lipo + fat transfer LOL)

    That last lady has a beautiful result!! I'm so happy that they were able to give her her lip back. I cant imagine how crushing that was. She deserves to feel beautiful and victorious, after beating skin cancer!!

    I really like Botched especially when they operate and treat true medical problems such as birth defects and even procedures that were botched by other doctors. They are really amazing. I have seen all these shows that Dr. Youn reacted to. Although the show does not appear on television in my area anymore, I still enjoy watching episodes on UA-cam. One show I just watched was an episode where the identical twin was dealing with twin-twin transfusion. His condition affected his face as well as his eyes. Dr. Nassif said he does not deal with eyes so he had a Plastic Surgeon that specializes in the eyes do that part of the procedure. I am impressed when a doctor knows their limitations and brings in the professional who is an expert in that field. I have seen that happen on Botched several times and I think in those situations the patients have the best outcome possible.

      Have you ever caught the episodes where they bring in the leeches when they're having problems with blood supply and the tissue is dying, usually at the nipple area. They actually have a legitimate leech dude who comes in and places the leeches where the doctor tells him, and the leeches stay there until they are fat, and then they just fall off. By that time, the blood is flowing, and the tissue is healthy.
      Disgusting, but successful!

    it looks like the last woman could benefit from some upper lip filler as well? she has the appearance of an upper lip now but in profile you can see how her upper lip just goes straight down and doesn't jut out like her lower lip.

    There was a made-for-TV movie in 1984 called 'Why Me' that was based on a true story (some of it *loosely* based) about a woman who was in a drunk-driving accident that nearly destroyed her face. In those days they had to be much more creative in the way they worked with facial scarring and experienced failure after failure making her lips look natural. Despite medical obstruction by his superiors, the doctor came up with the brilliant idea to use labial tissue to reconstruct her lips and it was did give her visible lips that gave her the natural colour her lips needed.

    I'm a CRNA who has administered anesthesia and provided resuscitation, intubation of trauma and burn victims for 40+ years.
    We call motorcycles, motorcycles because of the horrific trauma associated with accidents. There's little protection provided to the driver, less to the rider.
    I once drove motorcycles until I became a trauma provider. No more.

    Hi Doctor Youn,
    Can you do a video on what you think of Clara Dao. She’s a body positivity UA-camr who advocates against changing your face and body to fit into social media beauty standards and I really looked up to her. But lately her face, her lip are thicker, her nose is higher. It’s changed a lot and I’m unsure how to feel because while I have nothing against getting procedures, i think it’s important to be transparent to your audience.

    I was diagnosed with Sarcodosis at age 17 and was in the hospital and it got a lot better but at age 32 ,I started having some problems and had one large knot on my neck and on my chest and some other issues and now I have a huge knot on my neck and thyroid and I'm about to have surgery on that in a couple of months ,I'm terrified of that surgery but it's caused me to not be able to swallow and my thyroid is damaged.

    Hey Dr. Youn, I really love your videos and the education. ❤ Can you make a analysis about this crazy TitTok plastic surgeon Dr. Kim? All his clients look very very scary. 😱 They faces are so tight, 😑 they can't even close their eyes. 😵 And all have this pull out lips, like the Joker and they have all a huge scar around the face.

    Do collagen serums work? You said creams can’t penetrate the skin but do collagen serums penetrate and do what they claim?

    • @lenaw414
      @lenaw414 4 місяці тому +17

      No the collagen protein is too big to penetrate the skin barrier. No matter how you apply it to the skin (mask, cream, serum, you name it) a topical application will never be effective. Collagen needs to be ingested. I’d recommend a collagen powder that contains pure collagen type I and type III for the skin - and if you can find it also collagen type II for your the health of your joints. Hope that helped :)

      @@lenaw414 oh my gosh thank you so much! You’re very knowledgeable thanks for sharing your knowledge! I’ll check my cvs for all the collagens lol, toss out the stupid serum. Love that companies can make useless products for health, and market it to consumers as beneficial. 🙄

  • @arcturiangirlx664

    Hi doc! How are you? Hope everything is fine.
    I want to ask for your opinion.
    I did TCA cross 90% for my ice pick scars with my board certified dermatologist here in the Philippines. Note that I had 9 other TCA cross done before that. So my healing process with her work was, on the left cheek, the scabs went off easily like 3-5 days as normal. However, on the right cheek, it took 2-3 weeks at least before it fell off and the scars became widened and deeper plus post inflammatory erythema. So imagine the shock and anxiety it gave me since I’ve been applying for a flight attendant position so I have to have flawless skin, right?
    My derma said to just wait, it will heal. 2 months after, she gave me a chemical peel for free for the PIE. Now, it’s been 3 months, it’s better than before but then again, there’s still PIE and the atrophic scars are there. I’ve been asking her to fix the craters caused by her TCA cross because I never had those atrophic scars before our TCA cross so naturally, I was hoping for a moral obligation from her to fix my botched skin.
    She will do a procedure if I will pay her. If I won’t pay, her preposition is to just wait until it heals, the PIE and the atrophic scars.
    Will it really heal just by waiting? How long will it take? A year or two? Do I have time to wait? No. I am unemployed and looking to go back to the airline industry and this happened to my skin? That’s so outrageous and unacceptable.
    It seems she doesn’t care about my situation that airline hirings come and go and I needed to be in my best skin every time they come here in the Philippines. I didn’t even go to some openings because I can see my skin is still not in the best shape. She never empathized with me even blaming me that I did this to my skin. As if she is god that she cannot do mistakes in her works. She also gaslights me that my skin is flatter now compared to before. And I was like, I won’t be stressing about my skin and be unhappy if the results were good from before. I swear, I don’t know if she is blind or what.
    I have consulted with other dermas who saw my botched skin and they said procedures can already be done to resurface the skin and 3 months is enough for healing and waiting already.
    What can I do now that I can’t seem to talk to my derma in a civil way anymore for her to fix my skin caused by her procedure. Can I sue her? At this point, I don’t want her touching my face anymore but I can’t let it go that she doesn’t care about her clients whom went to her to have a better skin but gave the worst outcome. If this happened to me, maybe it will happen to other people.

    Dr. Youn,
    Why is there no scars on facial plastic surgery but scars on body like tummy tuck?

    • @Hans-iq3fn
      @Hans-iq3fn 3 місяці тому

      Because ladies get plastic surgery the most and they cover their face scars with makeup, or the surgeon hides the scar in their nose hole or under their hair or something.
