I've had exs who didn't like my small chest. One wanted me to keep wearing multiple bras so my chest appears bigger; another wanted me to get implants.
I never got it. It made me feel like because of my small chest, I couldn't have a decent relationship.
Now, I am more accepting of my chest and dump anyone not okay with how my body is.
Good for you! You deserve someone who loves and appreciates you as you are, not who is so fixated on the size of your breasts. Wearing multiple bras like that sounds so uncomfortable.
@@nicolelavigne1700god yes. I used to do it growing up because I didn’t want small boobs but it’s what god gave me . But it really sucks and took A LOT of confidence building when i heard my ex tell me my boobs could be bigger. He said it “jokingly” lies they’re never joking until they see your reaction is upset. I’ve never told him anything on his body needed to be bigger. So I’m back to loving my body the way it is because I shouldnt let a SIMPLE MAN Who can’t even treat his partner right have control of my confidence

Hi I used to sell bra's lingerie party plan. I don't know what the big deal is about wearing breast enhancing underwear. I would wear breast enhancing bra's to get a dolly parton effect - it was fun. Its not like he wanted you to lose weight, get nose job teeth changed etc. Wearing different underwear for me wouild not be a deal breaker. Cloths you buy anticipates an average breast size.
I am OK with what Mother Nature has given me. There is no way I would want to deal with scar tissue because of a breast implants. After watching Botched, I am happy I am not a plastic surgery enthusiasts.

Sure, but I assume you have worn makeup, dyed your hair, etc. We all enhance or change our natural, "mother nature" looks to a certain extent. Some women choose to do that in a more invasive way, and there's nothing wrong with that, especially for women who go through chemo that shrinks their breasts or need reconstructive surgery for other reasons.
@@sandydog426 I do not wear makeup and I have never dyed my hair but I do go and have my hair cut. I do not have botox because I do not have facial wrinkles. I do believe in plastic surgery. If I had a mastectomy due to breast cancer then I would be going to a plastic surgeon inquiring about breast expanders. I am not perfect looking because the left side of body is 90% paralyzed and so my left side is smaller than my right side due to an illness I had at three and a half months old. I had 4 major surgeries by a plastic surgeon and an orthopedic surgeon. No doctor can fix my problems and I have accomplished so much despite my disability. Looks isn't everything and I am glad I am not looking in the mirror and seeing my imperfections.

My implants were about 23 yrs old when I ended up with breast cancer. Not one of my medical team suggested that I have the implants removed before going through treatments. I went through seven months of chemotherapy and then 30 days of radiation. After the radiation that breast implants capsular contracture got more dense. So dense that I could no longer pull up my breast skin. The capsular contracture had fused to my skin. It was my worst nightmare.
Fast forward to last year, after 7 yrs of being cancer free I found a plastic surgeon and she removed both implants and, to save me from further complications, she decided to remove all of the scar tissue. As a result part of my breast caved in. Imagine carving out a piece of pie, that’s how my breast looks currently. It’s very gruesome looking and my plastic surgeon did an awesome job. Unfortunately the other breast still looks the same size as when I had the implants it’s just drooping a lot. The next step is to have a mastectomy on the breast that had the cancer and have the DIEP Flap breast reconstruction using skin and fat from my stomach (tummy tuck). And i’ll have a breast reduction on the other side. As scary and as excited as I am about this, which will happen in July, I now wish I had never gotten breast implants to begin with. But one never knows what the future holds. All I know is if any of you out there have breast implants and you end up with breast cancer, please have your implants removed before radiation as radiation will cause major complications. If my plastic surgeon had just removed the implants and not the scar tissue and then put new implants in, the radiation that is in the scar tissue would get very hard fast. It’s a recipe for disaster. At first my plastic surgeon was going to leave the scar tissue to give me volume but when she saw how much there was she decided right then in there that she needed to remove it all. She is the best and I’m so glad I found her.

I'm sorry you are going through this throughout your life. Being a breast cancer survivor alone is a crazy thing to live through and then having to go through all of the surgeries, I can't even imagine.
I had breast surgery when I was 13 (yep, a freshman in HS), where they removed a golf ball size benign fibroadenoma and that scar alone drives me crazy when it gets cold out!!
Do you feel like the implants played a part in your cancer diagnosis at all?

sometimes our bodies reject things we put in them, which, tbh, is what they’re meant to do. it’s just like piercings, some people’s bodies just reject them every single time no matter how clean they are and how they take care of them. great video, dr :)
It's like organ transplant too. But most women who did these things didn't research it "medically" but rather just by success story testimonials.
I can't wear any kind of piercing. It always rejects. Doesn't matter the jewelry I use. I cant even wear earrings.
@@mbennett5 Yeah, I can't too and unless it's gold earrings, but can't wear it for long. Same with necklaces or watches, if it's other than gold it will give me bad skin reaction.
I know my piercings got rejected. my mom had my ears pierced when I was a baby. I have worn earrings in childhood but they always itched and irritated me to the point that I always needed to removed them. i told my mom but she never listen and insisted that I wear them fast forward to adulthood. i cant wear them because of the irritation no matter if they are real or fake
Hearing stories like Hope's and watching videos like this reminds me of how thankful I am that I didn't have any complications during or after my augmentation. I'm so glad she finally was able to get better results and feel better. I think these stories scare many people away from having procedures done, but there a far more success stories, they simply aren't discussed as often. I'm in no way saying that plastic surgery is for everyone, or that people should rush to have surgery before doing their research and really weighing their options, but people also shouldn't be shamed for wanting to feel better about themselves.
Complications can happen years after surgery.
You're supposed to get implants replaced every 10-15 years so leakage or complications dont happen... that being said, with every surgery you have a higher risk of complications.
So no matter what, the odds are not on your side.
@crankybarista9306 very true, complications can occur at any time. That's why it's best to take all the right precautions such as placement under the muscle, incision placement, choosing the right size, following aftercare instructions, etc. Obviously there is no guarantee that an issue won't occur, so there is always risk.
Newer implants don't require replacement as often. They are made to rupture less easily. They aren't lifetime devices, but they are made now to reduce the number of replacements. There is no need to replace them unless they rupture or develop capsular contracture. I don't disagree with you, the more surgeries the more risk, but there are plenty of people who haven't had to undergo multiple replacements.
@@ashleyshafferfitness hmm. The research Ive done and all the plastic surgery documentaries Ive watched have all said that replacement after "X" amount if years is definitely necessary.... problem or not.
Could be 3 things:
1) its not 100% necessary, but doctors say that to avoid liabilty law suits and stay on the side of caution
2) its not 100% neccessary, but they say that as a way to make money so ppl pay for procedures more than necessary
3) it is true, but not every doctor agrees with it or they unaware that it is necessary.
No matter what, I hope you did it through a reputable surgeon and everything stays intact and healthy.

@@CrankyBarista a lot of the research does say that an implant's lifespan is an average of 10-15 years. I read a lot of that when I was doing my research. I have noticed that much of the newer research is supporting that they can last longer, over 20 years, but it of course depends on the type of implant and the physiology of the person. I discussed it with all of the surgeons I talked to when deciding and most said the same - that there isn't a need to replace them if they haven't ruptured or a complication hasn't developed, but they should be monitored closely as they get older.
I think you're right with the reasons why they may suggest needing to get them replaced more often. They definitely want to avoid lawsuits, and of course the more procedures you need the more money they make so those can definitely be factors. Every doctor is different.
Thank you, I hope I remain healthy and complication-free as well. The surgeon I ended up choosing is board certified and has been a performing these surgeries for almost 30 years and did an excellent job so I trust him.

Your breasts did their job, very amazing.
A good way to help with sagging is working out your chest muscles! Before bras were made, the muscles were what held them up naturally, and it’s best not to need them as a crutch. Besides, it’s better for your heart, lungs, etc to work out.
Stuff like this is why, unless dysphoria gets really bad and i get my breasts reduced or removed for my mental health, I want to avoid any kind of surgery. I'd be scared of it going wrong despite many previous medical procedures.
make sure u do your research on the doctor if that’s what you eventually want. most likely you will be fine if they aren’t sketch. but either way your completely valid regardless so do what feels right in your heart
This complication specifically is near impossible when doing a breast reduction, as reducing breast size does not involve putting a foreign object into the body. That isn't to say that there are no possible complications, but that's at least one fewer. 😊
My best advice would be to shop around - It's better to have to wait longer to save up more and see a reputable doctor who can give you the results you want than it is to cut corners for convenience or to save money. For provincial health care, I had to see a specific surgeon. He botched it, I had to get a second surgery for revisions and although I'm not as dysphoric, I sometimes get very uncomfortable to see how uneven they are. Pectoral exercises seem to be helping but that's difficult for my disabilities.
I SHOULD have went through the court system to see a doctor in the US or saved money to get it done in the US if the government didn't cover it, but I wanted them gone so bad that I didn't think about it hard enough. Definitely something that I regret.
@@madeleine61509 This is true, although some doctors do offer pectoral implants during your surgery to help them look more natural (since even cis men have a bit of breast tissue).
I think someone above mentioned it already, but research is very important. It may cost more money, but try to always meet with the surgeon first and explain your goals to them, and listen to them explain their typical procedures. I had top surgery a few years ago, and I’m very happy how I am now. Actually, my dysphoria before top surgery wasn’t that bad either, but as soon as I got them removed I realized a huge weight had been lifted off my chest (literally and metaphorically lmao). My life has gotten a lot more comfortable after my gender affirming procedures, even if I wasn’t “badly off” previously. I didn’t have large breasts (I was between A and B) nor did I constantly suffer from dysphoria. It was one of those situations where I didn’t realize how much my life would be improved until I actually did it. Of course, it wasn’t a decision I made lightly either, and I really think anything to do with permanently altering your body should be considered with all of the pros and cons. In my case, the pros were a lot more than I ever expected. The only con really is that sometimes there’s phantom pains and a pins and needles type of sensation (not extreme or often, it’s like once a month or two months, especially during extreme weather), but these I believe are pretty common when a body part is removed.
If you have the means and are interested and really think it can help you, I really do recommend looking into a procedure. Sometimes just the research process alone can help you make a final decision.
How are those nurses allowed to be nurses after telling that lady to stab herself?
I had some complications similar to this with my implants. I kept telling the office there was something terribly wrong and they said I was overreacting, but one day I couldn’t deal with the pain and they very grudgingly agreed to take a look just to let me know I was fine, as soon the surgeon lifted my breast at the suture line my skin ripped open and the implant mixed with blood and pus came through.
It was two weeks before my wedding.
Fun times.
It was eventually replaced, but never right. And the. Years later cancer fixed that by removing all of my breasts.

Probably got the cancer from the implants. People shouldn't be putting foreign objects into the bodies.
I am a physician, and I used to do full-spectrum family medicine. I often annoyed my patients over the phone when I insisted that they had to come into the office so I could actually SEE them. There are so many conditions you cannot diagnose over the phone.
Doc, I’m going to try my best to make sense but I’m in tears listening to you. I was diagnosed with stage 3A IDC (Est & Pro +/ HER2 -) with brca2 mutation in 2018. I had a radical double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. I am now a lymphedema warrior with an encapsulated implant with cording on my cancerous side. Thank you for sharing your expertise with all of us. This is the kind of information I need. 🙏🏼🖤✨

I've had all sorts of awful medical treatments in Houston, from tearing my spinal membrane after an in-hospital CSF test then forcing me to discharge in 10+ level pain, only to return to the ER two hours later and having a doctor proceed with an endoscopy/biopsy (I felt the instrument take the sample and pass through my sphincters - it was painful) after anesthesia failed *because it was Friday and she wanted to beat traffic* ;lived there for 18 years and I'm so traumatized I won't even visit.

I’m not in Houston- but let me assure you- it’s not just Houston. I’m sorry- and I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been there too. Every time I go into hospital my aim is to get OUT as quick as possible. I genuinely believe they make me ill. (Long story. But my last op in November- the nurses told me I didn’t have any stitches. I did. On all 8 wounds. )
Unethical healthcare workers can do a lot of damage.

My former friend had capsular contracture she told me in detail all about it and the pain and suffering. This scared me incredibly. I did eventually get brave and had a breast reduction - which was almost pain/discomfort free.
Honestly listening to this makes me so happy I had a great plastic surgeon and had a procedure where they took my belly and made it into a breast. I had to have reconstruction because the cancer I had impacted the skin as well as the breast tissue. Im 7 weeks post op and am healing great! I feel awful for what this woman went through

Omg this poor woman and anyone who ends up with infection or scarring. I had a pretty major reduction and this was a big fear - infection and major scarring. I have no regrets of my very successful surgery but truly feel for anyone who goes through such a thing 💔

Done in the early 2000’s, no scars, went from A to a large C, small D. I am now 54 and they still look freaking amazing! No problems at all!!!

Women seriously need to love and appreciate themselves the way they are... i am happy with what i was given, of course i'd change some things here and there but with and without those changes, i still find myself beautiful. Nowadays women are BULLIED into needing or wanting a bigger breast to look more appealing or attractive. Its terrible... as someone who has very big breasts, it comes with a HUGE amount of back pain and just pain and only pain... if it gets any bigger or worse i might consider cutting them off... literally... love and appreciate yourself ❤️

@@ash-ns6pd Yeah a big difference between what it is and what resulted from it. A pretty perfect woman can still have low self esteem but not having any dysmorphia. Since beauty is subjective, it's definitely low self esteem and nothing to do with dysmorphia.

Have you ever tried Uva ursi? I used to get chronic UTIs as well and was at my wits end when I discovered it as a (terrible tasting) tincture. It worked well and I didn't get another one for 5-6 years, used it again for another round and have been UTI free since.
If I was this woman, I would just give up on having big breasts. It frankly seems more trouble than it’s worth.

My friend had large breast implants removed completely about 15 years ago and suffered with necrosis and multiple operations afterward; it was a horrible experience for her! I'm so glad I never got them.
I’ve embraced my itty bittys! Not saying I wouldn’t love a bit more but I also love myself as is… I just don’t know if I could put my body through that kind of trauma 😮
Honestly small boobs are awesome. You can run, sleep face down comfortably and don’t have to worry about unwanted attention.
I accepted my small boobs then went on meds and now they're huge 😂 at the end of the day, boobs are boobs n they're awesome

I thank god I never got CC after I got my implants. It was my biggest fear. I got them in 2010, and they are still as awesome as ever. My doctor told me there’s no “shelf life” on my breasts, and I don’t need to get them redone unless I have a problem. I’m very happy! ❤

I am all for using donor tissue to help the body, like the pig skin & tilapia skin for burns. The bone in my right wrist was crumbling away because of a mistake a doctor made after I broke my wrist, I now have donor bone & pig skin in there because during the first surgery a nerve ended up tangled in scar tissue, the slightest bump & lightning would run down my arm, now I don't have any problems with that wrist at all besides the obvious ones that come with such a bad injury (I fell 15 feet into concrete & got my arm out first, my arm looked like a Z like you'd see in a cartoon)
those nurses should get their licenses revoked for this

1st sign there’s gonna be a problem: she got plastic surgery in Texas 😂 FOUR TIMES! (Always go to LA, or my hood, NYC. If you’re gonna do it, at least have it done by the best!) NO OFFENSE TO ANY PLASTIC SURGEONS ELSEWHERE! Although I’ve never had plastic surgery or any in-office procedures, I’ve noticed a trend. Oh & NEVER get it in Florida! They have a plethora of unlicensed “surgeons”. (PLEASE do the Tummy-Tuck Amputee in FL from Botched! It’s CRAZY!)

@@msjoannaornelas Depends on the surgery. But YOU (or person having surgery) should be ready to RESEARCH! Before & after vids/ pics galore. No FREE consultations, etc. And trust your gut… & Dr. Youn’s words of wisdom: Two things you should NEVER go “inexpensive” on are sushi and plastic surgery 😂
My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy. And she chose to have implants.
She didn't have me go into the dr visits. But i was the one taking care of her throughout the entire process.
I have never heard of using irradiated pig skin. And I'm fascinated.

Hi Dr. Youn! I'm certified in manual lymphatic drainage (Vodder Techique). I'm seeing a concerning trend with post plastic clients asking for MLD to drain the extra fluid through ports and incisions. Could you do a video about Brazilian lymphatic massage to have the extra drained?

I totally agreed with Dr. Youn. I was -A I got 34D High profile implants placed behind the muscles( Saline) in 2009. Since then I never had issue. As a matter of fact my girls look so natural people wouldn't know if I don't tell them I had them done. Perfect size for my frame( 5ft tall 112 lb) I am so happy with the Dr I went to in Scotland Az. My girls dropped a bite after 1 year that was it and super soft to the touch lol. I only got the girls because I was so flat i got tired of wearing padded bras. Now I don't really need to wear bra.

I used to entertain ideas about procedures here and there, and I’d like to microblade my brows, and maybe get some lip…filler (?) or blushing to even out unappealing asymmetry, I know with a significant investment, like low six figures I could be beautiful enough to make money off my looks but WHYYYYYY??

I miss the wide range of faces we used to see.
And yes, people have been altering looks since the dawn of human self awareness, but I watched Carrie and the Shining back to back a year or so ago and really loved looking at Sissy Spacek and Shelly Duvall’s faces.
When I was a kid I thought both of them were odd looking and not really attractive, but seeing REAL faces, gloriously different and atypical in this era was totally refreshing.
I was forlorn thinking about how homogenized faces and bodies have become.
Sigh.
Nothing unique being said but I can’t help wish folks would encourage each other to embrace that which we alone posses, rather than see it as weird maybe see it as special?

Sure, we are on this earth for a blink of an eye, but spending it in a body you are confortable in will significantly increase your quality of life. If you are confortable with yourself good for you, though.
One drop can start to fill that bucket! You don’t know how many of us held our naturals while reading your comment and appreciated them, although we’re all prone to gravity. Instead of looking at them & critiquing them, I held them and felt grateful.
I agree with you regarding facial plastic surgery/ in office procedures. Why does everyone wanna look the same?!? It might be easy for me to say because I’ve never been “unattractive”, but as to the other comment: “Men (& women) decide where (Beauty) lies.” -Varys. I like to think we’ll be more advanced one day and look back at the whole concept of going under the knife 🔪 or being injected with a syringe 💉 just to look better as ludicrous.

@@lise7538 That's a clear misconceptions and not true though. Most women didn't just rely on pretty face and hot bodies to get far in life be in for career or starting a family. Only those in certain industries that needs to have great looks and bodies, like pageants, entertainment, modelling, and those along the lines. If you're just a common woman, going through such a procedure that requires long term care is not even necessary. it's bordering on insecurity. I'm no feminist, but there's nothing 'empowering" in superficial looks. And yes, I'm being "toxic" for speaking my mind :)
@nutzhazel if it's not empowering to you, that's completely fine. But shaming others for doing what they want with their bodies is just rude. And I will argue against your first point. It has been found that attractive people generally get farther on their careers than the average person. Attractive people are more likely to have higher wages, get called for interviews more often, and for women, it was found that attractiveness played a part in getting more unfair monetary deals. It's pretty inaccurate to claim that looks don't play an implicit part in our success, not to say you have to be attractive to be successful, just that there is a bias.
Have mine since 2000. Over the muscle. Never had capsular contraction or any other kind of complication. 😊

Also another reason, when implants rupture, surgery to remove them is considered "medically necessary" and therefore now medical insurance which would not normally cover a cosmetic procedure, kicks in. Then maybe they offer to give her a deal on new implants granted that the facility fee, anesthesia, and surgeon's services will now be covered by insurance.

Excuse the cryptic comment, but I hope people would learn to accept aging and what comes with age, and eventually death. It’s a hard truth, and it’s valid to have genuine fear of the latter, but it will make that much of a difference when you start to make peace with it. I can’t exactly relate to Hope, and I likely would not go down her path because I have dysphoria over my chest (afab), but I don’t plan on getting surgeries (I’m fine with binders and medical tape) and I hope and pray for people that impulsively get them for their own supposed “betterment”.

My mum never did well with any surgeries and would get scar tissue and every operation would result in muscle and soft tissue adhesions. My sister is the same. However i heal quickly (surprisingly fast). Following a csection i was filly healed in 4 weeks... and within 2 weeks of BA i was back at work (extremely physical job) When i was advised to take 4 weeks. I feel super human. Im the sane with burns, i was in an accident which resulted in 3rd degree burns on my chest, nrck smd arm and now 8 yesrs later it is barely noticeable

I got implants and got sick constantly for the 22 years. I had them until I finally realized the culprit and had them removed. So sad to see and I would’ve just taken them out!
