- Hi everybody! Here, for your educational enjoyment, I present to you the individual harmony parts for The Beatles song "Because" from the "Abbey Road" album. A separate video of all the parts put together can be found at • Because (acapella Beat... . And, if you haven't already seen it (and heard it), my video of the full song (with instruments) can be found at • Because (Beatles cover)
This video starts off with John's part.
George's part starts at 2:22.
Paul's part starts at 4:44.
Ringo's part starts at 7:09
Dude :"D
Hilarious!
Actually made my day thx man lol
High-larious!!!
i don't exactly know why..but I'm laughing my head off...poor ringo was probably up the pub with mooney when they cut this track
Never realized just how important George's vocals were.
I think Paul's part is the hardest. But George's part adds so much dimension
Probably the highest one is the easiest and the melody and the low vocals aren't that hard but harder than the high :):)
+Cazmir Nishi I find John's and Paul's equally easy. But George's is so difficult to distinguish in the mix! His harmony is not that hard, once you know where to look for it. Then again, I'm a girl so I can reach all of the notes easily I'm a contralto, (basically the female version of Paul's vocal type). It's probably harder for men, especially that high harmony.
I think it depends on your vocal range. Ex: if you have a lower range you might think the highest one is the hardest
I didn't even know his part sounded anything like this. It does not sound easy.
@@Bella-sx9og Paul has a notoriously low voice, naturally. Especially compared to John/George.
John's part sets the grounds. Paul's part sounds the prettiest with all it's movement, adds the most noticeable harmony. George's part fills in all that's missing and give the harmony a full wall-of-sound blend. George ties it all together and is the hardest (for me). Great harmonies and great ear!
Dominic L see I would agree with you if the longitude of the quantum dimension didn’t coagulate with the protocol of the chemical data of the graduated cylinder, because without that the immunology would be consequently under high octane pressure, which would lead to extravagant levels of bioluminescent radiation. Other wise you but be perfectly correct 🙂
Dominic L I agree with everything but for me Paul would be the hardest because of how fricken high pitched it is. Lol it shouldn’t be that hard since I’m a girl but I’m no choir member and if I was in a choir I would probably be an alto, not a soprano. That reminds me, Paul was actually in choir when he was in school.
ua-cam.com/video/OIk_UQgcEl4/v-deo.html
CANAL68 Producciones nice! 👍
Dominic
George´s part is by far the easiest cause he stays i a range of 3 tones mostly. He just has to stay on one tone or has to manage 1- or 2-tone steps wheras Macca and Lennon have to manage some inconvenient intervals.
George was a good musician but overshadowed by the two biggies. On the other hand without them I doubt that he would have made it in a different band.
00:02 - John's Part
02:22 - George's Part
04:44 - Paul's Part
07:09 - Ringo's Part
poor ringo
I see what you just did there hahahahahahaha!!!
Haha I hate how long it took me to catch on. I even thought about it and was like, “ Oh wow! Ringo being part of the harmony. Nice!” Wah-waah...
Ouch
LMAO
At the end of all three parts, I find myself anticipating the piano intro of You Never Give Me Your Money...
Nathanael Jaster Thanks, I know what you mean :)
I have another video of the full song with instruments, too.
FOR SURE!!!!! Same here.
ua-cam.com/video/OIk_UQgcEl4/v-deo.html
Someone really needs to coin a term for that phenomenon where you anticipate the next song. It's much more common in older folks who used to listen to albums in their entirety, rather than streaming single songs.
@@mazeman01 Yes, absolutely! And Mixtapes add to it - when I was quite a young teenager my (older) brother had a Mixtape on which "Lady Madonna" was followed by "Midnight Rambler" (don't ask me why...) and to this day (and I'm 58 now...) I anticipate the Harmonica intro of the latter when this Beatles song ends
I wonder if he sang Paul's part barefoot.
Pop Bomb Conspiracy lol
He did but he had to do it twice. He had the cigarette in the wrong hand the first time.
@@wanderer1955 You're gonna start some silly roumours.
A guy who looks like Paul, same age, sings like him, I don't think so.
@@johnsergei the rumours started long ago. shame really, people could be doing more than spreading 50-year-old conspiracies with literally no legs to stand on.
ua-cam.com/video/OIk_UQgcEl4/v-deo.html
George's part is like a bottom of a pie, John's is a filling, and Paul's is cherries on top of it.
Paul's part sounds and looks like a lot of job, and it is because it's high and has some melismas. But I'm sure that for him it wasn't too hard because he's been very good at falsetto.
George's part sounds really weird! And hard to follow! I never paid attention to it before because it's not prominent. It's very understated just like George himself. Love it! Especially the way he sings "love is old, love is new, love is all, love is you" - so whistful.... I never thought it could be sung like this.
George sings the low part, John sings the middle part (which is the melody), and Paul sings the high part. John sang his part together with George and Paul. They sang their parts together, three times, for a total of nine voices.
That answers my burning question.
woooow, Never knew that. Awesome video. Love your voice. I love to sing & play piano since I was six. Never had voice lessons though. Just piano. I want voice lessons.
@@JanelleJames that will be great to find a great voice instructor... If you can sight read music and play it, then singing will be so easy... Breathing is really important to get right, but you can do it..
And learn all about vibrato, get lots of listening from the best voices and then develop your own vibrato. It is actually 2 notes at a time, and beautifully, tastefully done, it totally makes the song so much more beautiful... Good luck with this, Janelle James !! You can do it !!
Fran Danco
Any chance you could do a similar recording with This Boy and Yes It Is?
@@OhSayWhatIsTruth Here’s a harmony breakdown for “This Boy”:
ua-cam.com/video/N54grLryWUg/v-deo.html
George always had the most difficult and subtle parts.
fuck off. Subtle maybe..but most difficult? Listen, we both love George but he is no Lennon or mcCartney
@@luis.hammett676 no, I disagree, he has the less challenging harmony nearly every time. Having the discipline to stay in his pitch is not a reflection of vocal prowess, Lennon and McCartney both do that too but with better voices. Some of |Georges guitar work is brilliant though and neither Lennon nor mcCartney could replicate THAT
@@luis.hammett676 Good point. It's like bassists or cellos in an orchestra. They get awkward off-beat harmonies and need to follow themselves. They're the foundations of everything while melodies (like violins and maybe even cellos) fall back on the bassists as their metronome. Bassists have a lotta focus and patience I'll give them that LOL. Each Beatle was great in their own right.
@@luis.hammett676 100% agree with this. George's are way harder.
Not at all
Melody: 0:00 - 2:21 Low: 2:21 - 4:43 High: 4:43 - end
Sass Queen thanks
Thanks
It's amazing they were able to record a song so beautiful and close in the dying days of the band. George Harrison once said this was his favorite song on Abbey Road and I can't say I disagree.
This is actually the last song they ever recorded together, back in August 1969.
Wow! That’s an interesting and poignant fact.
Those outfits. Abbey Road.
Nice Easter Egg.
yea, I noticed that too. great touch.
Nice catch.
Ha! Didn't notice until I read your comment
ua-cam.com/video/OIk_UQgcEl4/v-deo.html
Hey….I was gonna comment about this….
Paul’s part is what makes it sound good. Those phrases he sings at the end of the lines are amazing
Wow . This mans pitch is perfect . He doesn’t cheat on one note . He holds the notes with no clipping . You could take any one of the parts he’s singing and sing any one of the others parts, and you’ll notice how perfect it is . GREAT !
recorded one take i’ m impressed too, i know i could take hours and hundreads of takes to do that 😭
Your outfits match Abbey Road's cover! Excellent touch!
The trousers don't though!

ua-cam.com/video/OIk_UQgcEl4/v-deo.html
Damn. That's a good detail. I totally missed that.
I couldn't hear it in the original song but with your video I can tell George's part is the weirdest yet the most beautiful and interesting one. It's the one that makes you enjoy the song even more once your hear it isolated from the other parts
Thanks for this
wow. especially George's part is very moving. never was able to hear it exactly in the blend. you have
done a great job. thanks so much.
so interesting how different their parts are yet when put together it blends so well. they were, of course, absolute geniuses. its hard to hear george's part in the original, so thank you for this🥺
ua-cam.com/video/OIk_UQgcEl4/v-deo.html
In their own era, people were still trying to figure out whether these guys were better than a mediocre pub band ...
technically it was George Martin who did the arrangement (John's original demo is has mostly unison singing /double tracking by himself)
@@0000song0000If so, it wouldn't be surprising, I always assumed that
Yoko had a part in originating the melody for the song, George Martin had a part in composing it too, Ringo was the metronome although his part was not in the final record (he was just playing hi-hats in Paul, George and John’s headphones) in the final record. It was truly a team effort, and it’s beautiful.

George's part is the hardest... I reckon. Thanks for sharing.
You think George's part is harder than Paul's? o.0
Luis Garcia
If you can reach those high notes, it's probably the easiest part. The fact that George could sing his part as well as he did shows you how under rated he was as a singer.
How are John and George's parts more difficult to sing?
Luis Garcia
Try it some time, sing those two parts as part of the harmony, you'll see how hard it is, and that Paul had the easy part.
atimnie I would take your advice but I can't sing any of this, lol.
It's bizarre how nearly identical each take is while singing the same part.
George's part sounds hecking hard.
I had no idea this song was only three-part harmony. I would have guessed it was six-part, the chords sound so complex.
I heard or read somewhere that this song was sung and recorded in nine-part harmony. I believe that is why you see three images of each part. Each Beatle sang three subtly different versions of their parts. Harmonizing their own parts.

I love how on all harmony breakdown videos for the Beatles' songs, the parts are labeled "John" and "Paul" and "George" instead of melody, high harmony, low harmony.
look inside the parenthesis!
You love weird stuff.
I want the technical explanation with the Nashville number system.

Ichigo que haces aquiiii
My goodness. Absolutely some of the finest vocals ever. I am not very easily impressed and I find your work VERY impressive indeed. Congratulations on some VERY fine work, and thanks for posting it.
For almost 40 years I have not been able to figure out who sang what part. After seeing Love in Vegas last week, I had to find out. Thank you so much - this is great!
You are still the most fun to listen to the breakdown of Beatle songs!! I still need $$$$ to create a studio that will NEVER touch your accomplishments!! I was born in1950. I LIVED the Beatles!!!
Beatles still rule
Always will. Never been a band like them, before or since.
@@gribwitch yes mate
You killed paul's part. great Job!
Thanks for the break down. It's convinced me that at this stage the boys were working on another level. The composition isn't particularly difficult, but it was not like anything they'd done before or since, and it mastered the era of classical/early romantic three part harmony without any of them being able to read music. It's not the most masterly work of music ever, but how they mastered it for just one song is beyond me.
Because you do that little swivel after every line, i am hypnotized threefold.
Thank you! I've been trying to get this down with my friends but the parts are so indistinguishable when you're drunk xD
Because the world is round it turns me on
Because the world is round, ah
Because the wind is high it blows my mind
Because the wind is high, ah
Love is old, love is new
Love is all, love is you
Because the sky is blue, it makes me cry
Because the sky is blue, ah
Ah
George's part reminds me of Mozart's lacrimosa
I'm learning this with my two sisters now! Your video has been incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for uploading this to UA-cam :)
You're very welcome. Happy to be of help :)
+kPetrovskii so did you ever do it? I'd love to hear it.
I just noticed the clothes he's wearing is parallel to Abbey Road. I knew something was going on until Paul's breakdown came up.
Rayusastraeus I also have a video of the full song with the instruments (same clothes): ua-cam.com/video/wJjiPR5gPqc/v-deo.html
This is cool. What would've even cooler is to hear it all together.

This is awesome!!! My favorite Beatles song, and probably my favorite song of all time! I thought i had George's part down all this time, but this video pointed out a few of my errors. John's lift between the lines "love is old, love is new" and "love is all, love is you" is beautiful!!!
Thank you; that low part is damned hard to pick out! Great singing too!
mortalflower1 You’re very welcome, and thanks!
I know it's amazing, it's really good to see these kind of breakdowns, even though you can kind of hear it, it's just incredible to know what George is actually singing in there, incredibly tough with all the other parts going on.
Make me cry dude. Your highs are impeccable.
Thank you for your time, effort, and energy in putting together that breakdown; it is much appreciated.
What a range! Wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
the sudden change from george's "low" to pauls "high" made me chuckle. this is incredible btw.
Easily one of the more psychedelic things I have seen in a long time. Three Andrews playing four Beatles on one screen. Sending love, Laddy. Thnks for yr service
Thanks!
outfits = spot on
also fantastic voice/this saved me like probably 2 hours of tedious work so thank u so much
A nod to the late George Martin, who must have had a big hand in arranging the harmonies.
tom kent i often wonder if he helped them at all for harmony or if they did it by themselves.
Antony Linteau He’s helped them
ua-cam.com/video/OIk_UQgcEl4/v-deo.html
He was very much a big help in arranging big harmonies like this
@@thomaspappalardo7589 Do you have a reference?
Because the sky is blue it's makes me cry... Because you sing all the voices, you make me cry... thanks for that.
George’s part is incredible. I truly love his part - a song in the song
Thank you! So interesting. Turns out I've been singing Paul's part all these years. I guess that makes sense as it's more or less in my range.
yes, Paul part is in the tenor/soprano range - so it fits well a feminine voice
George Harrison was always incredible singing those middle harmony parts. It's 'very difficult as you can get lost very easily unlike the high or main melody parts.
Every now and again you hear something that you'd ' forgotten " the
Beatles had written. Just like this. And you're stunned all over again
by their inexplicable genius. Words fail .!
Well done! Very informative! It was mystical to me how the individual timbre of John, Paul and George's voices mixed so elegantly. What a band! They are now for the ages!
I liked this video when I heard John's part. Then when he started doing George's bit I went to like it again but obviously couldn't haha. Fantastic. My favourite Beatles song.
I am sure he is barefoot while singing Paul's part.
I’ve consistently listened to this and your full cover of Because for the past few years, you did an incredible job!
Thanks so much!
Great, great job. I've got my wife learning Paul's part, I'm doing John's and my son is learning George's. I could always hear John and Paul's parts, but never George's. Same way with This Boy. Thanks so much.
Thank you -- this is wonderful, especially since I've got George's part, which is, by far the most subtle and therefore difficult. I would, by nature, be able to do the Paul part much easier. But thanks to you, I can now do all three :)
You’re very welcome! Glad it’s helpful.
Amazing, Amazing. A good look into the genius of the Beatles.
Watched this a few years ago, now watch again still like it very much! Well done!
Thank you!
It’s amazing after 50+ years we’re deconstructing Beatle songs and we’re all commenting on the finer points of each song.
thanks for this. My senior seminar is on the The Beatles' and I'm covering this with two other voices so this video has been a tremendous help. to see you play all the instrument parts on another video is fantastic... Great work sir. to everyone joking about Ringo Starr's part he did perform this with them. during the recording process he kept a steady high hat beat. just saying..
Michael Spisak Yes, that's true about Ringo. So glad you found the video to be helpful.
Ringo was and still is massivey underrated
My daughter wants her chorus to perform this song, very helpful!
Whoever heard this in their heads to put the voices and instruments in place are highly exceptionally talented people.
You take it apart, and it is not much. You put it all together, and it is a rare gem
Absolutely amazing! You have the ears to pick out all the parts and then sing them to perfection. Incredibly good!
Fantastic job Andrew! I recently joined a 60's band and thought about this song. I searched for vocal parts and lo and behold.......ALL I NEEDED WAS LUB! Hope you're doing well my friend. Lance M. from Berklee.
Lance! Glad you found the video (I also have a video of the full song with all the instruments, etc.)
All the best to you my friend.
Amazing! Love this song

Those who put "dislikes" here, they probably didn't understand what it's all about.
Oh losers.
It's redundant to have three voices singing the same part if it's a breakdown.
that's how the beatles themselves did it.
You mean triple tracked!
Neanderthals.
It’s cause they can’t sing it and they salty
This is wonderful - each harmony on its own is a great listen, even if I weren't imagining the other harmonies there as I listen! Well done.
Thanks! I posted another video--titled Because (acapella Beatles cover)--that combines the vocals. Also, if you haven't seen it, check out my video for the full song (with instruments).
I love how you sway almost exactly the same way in each take, it's kind of funny. Awesome work, Geroge's part is a bit tricky...
That was fantastic. Thank-you! I love this song.
I've been looking for something like this for so long; thank you!
I still listen to it in 2021 - and it's so touching
Committed myself to study this song and then post the outcome in FB for my friends who are also Beatle fans. Then I found this vid.
Thanks a lot for making the task easier for me. Your efforts are very much appreciated!
My favorite one is Paul's and also wow Georges one is so difuccult to sing!!
As per your request, I recently posted a video with the three parts together (without instruments). Enjoy!
Kudos to the vocal arrangement! .... thank you, G. Martin!!
oppened it in three different windows and then played them at sink. took me i while but it turned out great
no need for that since he uploaded the full song. it was fun anyway
I just love this. You are fantastic!
All parts were important and difficult. Harmony can be a challenge no matter who you are. This is so lovely, just enjoy it and don't argue about who knows more about music.
BRAVO!!! These harmonies are so oddly beautiful. I would have loved to hear you finish with all 3 mixed. great job!
i was about to try to break it down myself till i saw this. thank you
Very interesting break down of the harmonies ...👈😊 nice job!!
you do a great service to those of us 'ear players' who were never quite able to untangle the thicket of parts that make up this incredible song! It is really strange how, on breakdown, some of them seem 'counterintuitive' after years of listening to the finished product ... vocal harmony is a strange beast!
Yep. This way, you can visually get an idea of whose part I'm singing (it's easier to see the different clothing in this video, but it's there in my video of the full song too).
Did a cover of Because, it doesn't sound amazing but this really really helped so thank you!
6rooroo You’re very welcome. Glad it helped.
Thank you so much this is so useful ! And beautiful 😍
Wonderful!
I never knew so much went into that song's vocals, just when I thought the Beatles could not get any more "genius" along comes something like this.
Well done Andrew Lubman, I really like the way you broke it down for us. I enjoy listening to the way you perform this song, once again, well done my friend.
YOU'RE DOIN AWESOME!
Spot on! I thought 'Yes It Is' was hard enough to learn but this is difficult....and therefore worth trying!
Why didn't you sing all 3 parts together at the end?..... you sound great.
+Firebrand55 Thanks. There's a separate video of all the voices together at ua-cam.com/video/0pe5_dpJkCQ/v-deo.html
I'll try to do that I if I have a moment. In the meantime, take a look at the video description. You'll see that I've included links that take you directly to George's part and Paul's part. (no link needed for John's part--it starts at the beginning of the video)
Awesome! Segregating the components of this masterpiece is a work of genius in itself.
