This guy right here literally joined a discord chat with me and helped me through every step! I shared my screen and all. He’s the real deal when it comes to helping people!
My in game audio is loud and clear in my headphones, but is barely audible in the stream. I use Streamlabs OBS and stream from my PS5. Can someone help me change the audio settings so i can bump up the volume? Please!
I feel it's important to think about how you want your presentation to be when it comes to discord balance. Discord audio should match game audio if coms are focused on the game, but if you want more of a "talk show" vibe where your conversations are a main source of content you will want to balance it with your own mic.
Yeah I was gonna say. The people I have on during my streams are practically co-hosts so it would feel weird to have them be under my volume level. I try to keep us all about even.
You shouldn’t have to change any of the db sliders in Voicemeeter. Simply just change the slider in Spotify to your preferred volume for yourself and then adjust the slider in OBS to the preferred level for your viewers
I use the same headset mic a streamer uses and I have to crack it to +15 for it to be loud enough on stream. Not sure what I’m doing wrong but I’ve had to turn up all my audios similarly.
what if my mic isn't as loud as it should be. I have a blue yeti snowball but when I talk and the setting is set to max in streamlabs obs it seems to only reach to about top of yellow even if its on max
I have my mic audio all the way up but my mixer is like set to half way, with compression and a limited it is now where I want it to be, the game audio around -15 to -20 and it works for everything now, it's taken me about a year or so to get everything where I want it lol
Thanks for the Audio Mixer numbers, I am also looking for what OBS Filter and settings should be for a Microphone? I do allot of voice over video audio and could use OBS Filter recommendations you might have for Videos. I have a Mic going and a pre-recorded video going and that's it. Thanks
Great video here. I usually have very specific questions and although everyones set up is different having some overall numbers to go by is a huge help. I have been struggling so hard with over petting everything. My entire OBS is a petting zoo. Can't leave it alone, Gotta pet those settings and fidgit with everything. Nice to have some guides to go by. Thanks again.
Ok so I’m trying to stream on twitch from my pc using streamlabs but when I checked twitch to look at my stream I could BARELY hear any of the in game audio any idea how to fix this?
My problem is, when I make it so my microphone audio plays back to me, I can here myself and then it shows up in my recordings, but it courses mic feedback n ringing sound. But when I turn playback off the mic audio don't show up in my recordings? Any help would be appreciated
@NoMercyMerc Question for you... Say you are going with -10db for mic and -20 for game, normally. If you are playing a game where you are not using your mic. Should you raise the game from -20 to -10, or leave the game still at the -20? Thanks.
I have some major audio problems I'm trying to correct somebody might be able to lend me some information. I am running a PS4 slim. I have a USB microphone hooked up to it to talk to my people in my game. I run the PS4 through and Elgato HD60 Capture card HDMI out to my gaming monitor and then USB out to my gaming laptop that I stream from. I also have a hyper X quad cast mic plugged into my laptop for streaming commentary . I want to be able to plug my headphones into my laptop so I can listen to the gameplay my Spotify music as I stream and be able to talk to my teammates at the same time for some reason none of that seems to work when I plug in my headphones... Any help would be truly appreciated
I'm trying to work out my noise gate levels which part of the audio mix should I be looking for? The meter that fills up the db meter or the black line in the meter. At a guess it seems the meter that fills up the green, yellow and red section is what I should be looking at but what is the black line meant to mean? Its recommended that my noise gate should be 10 or 5 db apart. So open at -5db and close at -15db but I don't want to lose out on some lower audio where I might be whispering or mumbling. I honestly just need it to turn on when the mic is definitely gonna peak. I'm totally okay for it to pick up my breath and stuff. And that tends to go at about -45db or so. So should I widen my noise gate? to close at -45 and open at -5? Or should I stick to the tip where I should keep it close together at most 10db apart?
Nice video! I use elgato HD60s, with my ps5 (via chat link for my headphone etc) The problem I have is that the “party chat” & the game sounds via elgato come through the same source (as the party chat is being brought through via ps party chat & game sounds et ) Quite frustrating but your videos are helping!! :)
great video im very much a noob with all this. im confused slightly though would u suggest having your sources set to these db suggestions in the video via just adjusting the volume knobs or would it be best using a limiter to maintain these levels? im not sure if im overthinking this but yeah quite confuzzled haha
None of this. I like natural sounds with no compression or filters. Therefore I just make sure my mixer levels are correct. Go wild with filters if you want though!
So im abit curious and have been for a long time. What volume should the windows volume mixer be at? I currently have all set to 100% and using my volume wheel on my headset to regulate volume. Also i regulating volume in spotify, the games i play etc. Is that wrong or is it how you should do it? Im taking all the help i can.
Super nice and symphatic. I always had a problem with audio mixing and how to make my audio balanced, but your Video will help me a lot. And thanks for the recommendation of Audio Router, the advanced Windows sound Mixer. :) Keep on going, hope you will hit 1k subs on yt
MErc, While I am not Vlogging or streaming games I am streaming church services / presentations. The problem I am having is coming from the soundboard(mixer) into OBS via USB Direct Interface between the laptop and mixer. Direct recordings with Audacity don't seem to have an issue. Only with OBS, so here is my issue if you think you can help. Speech I have no problem with, but with music it seems to broadcast what I can only explain as a bass reduced hollow echo and wavering. All audio except the scene for technical issues comes from the mixer. Any thoughts?
My issue is I use windows at about 55% volume level, so I have to add sometimes a 10-20db gain boost to my desktop audio track/ discord audio track which REALLY brings down the quality of the audio, it sounds like its flat
what kinda sucks is i had a friend make a starting soon, afk, and ending screen for me, but lost all of that when i went in to add a set of custom layers or panels i think, something like that to streamlabs obs, overwrote everything i already had except notifications also on a side note, lately ive been having issues where periodically the audio goes roboty/distorted for both audio and mic, and i have to swap the audio on a1 to something else and then back to fix it, is this a known problem? or is it something to do with my pc or mic/headset having issues with it? cant make it happen on will, some days it doesnt happen at all, others it happens multiple times, even right after fixing it
Can you do A video explaining how to get twitch soundtrack working when you do the audio splitting, I have done the audio splitting and now Im trying twitch soundtrack to get music instead of spotify and it just doesn't work as it's supposed to.
@@nomercymerc Its an addon for obs or slobs, I figured out that it sends any audio thats on track 6 to the vod, so doing the audio splitting that you did if you disable track 6 for the aux input it wont go on vod, allowing you to use spotify on your streams without fear of dmca claims, although I think I explained it horribly.
Well so you choose which track goes to the VOD within OBS. In the Stream tab, you choose the audio track 1 through 6 to go to the stream. Anything you don’t put in that track will not be heard by the stream or in the VOD!
I’m using a PC to stream my Xbox gameplay with streamlabs OBS. I’m a cod player, and recently I was messing around with audio settings because my mic picks up everything. But after adding noise suppression and noise gate, the game audio coming in through the capture card sounds muffled when the guns are shooting. Anyone have any similar issues?
Watched this trough a couple times, no matter what I do the game is way too loud and my voice (Which isn't great being picked up by mics at the best of times) can't be heard, I've tried filters ect, my output is at 0.6 and mic is at max but is exactly the same without any of the above and I have no idea where to even start :EDIT: Also I have a high pitched almost coil whine sound in my recordings and the mic level bar is flickers
with game audio, for games such as call of duty, i tend to have a difficult time adjusting it so that the low volumes arent too quiet, and the gunshots arent wayy to loud. Is there a filter I should be using?
him talking about audio on the mic being too soft and yet I had to turn him up since he was too quiet idk if it was just me but he was alittle quiet xD, But good video it helped alot
I already have this setup but I watched your video anyway😁 Like you said, a good balanced audio might make you stay longer than you expected 😁 I also added one more thing for the Discord problem that seemed to work, I added a compressor and limiter on the Discord sound source so when people get louder they don't blow the viewer's headphones until I adjust their volume, and it also helps balance things out. Great video! 😍
Thanks so much!! That a phenomenal idea about the compressor by the way! I need to incorporate that going forward for sure! Once again I really appreciate it :)
I would recommend you adjusting all the audios to get them right in your headphones first and then play around with the sliders in OBS to get the Db levels I indicate in the video :)

If you have restarted your computer, Spotify will have to be routed in the audio router software every time to Voicemeeter AUX! Another thing to check is that your windows sound settings are set properly to default to “Voicemeeter Input” for playback and you microphone for record.
So wacky. The +/- on dBs for me are so damn all over the place. I have to have a 15dB gain on my mic for it to match my normal talking voice. I have a shitty mic, but still, that's insane.

Changing your volume on Windows would affect the stream too right? Is this guide assuming windows is set to 100%?
Should my desktop audio be picking up my microphone?
Good video but how to achieve these levels? With a limiter? Or do you just decrease the dB per soundtrack?

Thank you so much for this video! It really helped me out!
This was very helpful, thanks!
why is it described as negative decibels? why does the scale not simply go from 0 (no sound) to 150 Db (loud AF)?
So should the windows sound bar be at 100 so they all have the same base?
