Please read these FAQs before commenting questions:
1. If you lose all audio after routing Spotify in Audio Router, it means that Voicemeeter froze. In order to unfreeze Voicemeeter, simply reselect your headset in the top right “A1” drop down within Voicemeeter!
2. There is a point in the video you may lose audio if watching this video on the same PC you're trying to set it up on! I would recommend picking up the video from that point on your phone to fix audio
3. If you are receiving an error from audio router, make sure that you unzipped the file downloaded from their website before running it as .exe files won’t run properly in a folder that is still zipped.
4. If you use UA-cam as your music or would rather split Chrome as a source instead of Spotify you can’t split Chrome in audio router due to come admin right issues. Chrome can be split within windows itself but going to sound settings -> advanced sound settings -> changing the output drop down for chrome to “Voicemeeter AUX”
My voicemeeter isn’t frozen and Spotify is still silent, I can’t figure out what to do
@@MrClean-im8lg some people lately have had to reinstall Spotify for some strange reason :/ you may want to give that a shot!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Off saved my life w this comment
@@nomercymerc I had the problem with the silent spotify, so I reselected the headset from the A1 drop down and the audio from spotify begun to play but it was just so awful to listen to when it was selected on the WDM option for my speaker, so I instead switched it to MME because the audio was so much better and not so robotic. Is this an okay solution? I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes between the two, but this worked for me
Quick tip for anyone who cant change the audio tracks, go into settings > output and change output mode from simple to advanced, afterwards press done, open up advanced mixer settings, go to global settings and enable all 6 audio tracks, then go back to source settings and click the boxes, this also helps with the step afterwards
Thank you so much for writing this. It's exactly whats needed to complete the tutorial
@@marinated5425 glad it's helped someone, you have a good day/night
BUMP - this is what I needed

Beast thank you for this
So many tutorials, so many youtube videos, and I finally find one that works flawlessly first time. Straight and to the point, shows what you get then tells you how to get it. Amazing, you get a sub
Could listen to this crystal clear audio all day, excellent video dude.
Appreciate it Dig!! If you need anything, feel free to reach out
@@nomercymerc make a tutorial on mic filters for SLOBS
Thank you for this video, it helped me a bunch! I was recording all my videos in just 1 sound track. When I went to edit it , it was impossible to split all the different sounds...we really need to do this pre-work first. Awesome work!
Thanks so much Wexaazys! I appreciate it
New streamer here about 3 months in and this video was exactly what I needed to get my audio under control, great vid, much love and support coming your way!
did you succesfully routed the spotify audio to AUX VAIO as of march 2022? it's giving me a error when I try to route it, can you help me out?
How in the world is your channel not better. Incredible content. Very well delivered. Awesome man!
Thanks so much Robert! I’m really working on upping the content quantity because I’ve been happy with quality lately :)
Hey I'm trying to make spotify be heard in my stream but only spotify no other desktop sounds, but I followed all the steps for it and it still receives the other desktop sounds in streamlabs as an aux
If the audio goes off after routing Spotify, go into the voicemeeter banana and reselect your headphones or speakers in A1, this worked for me on several occasions at least
Thank you! :)
Most underrated video for voicemeeter/obs setup. Thank you!
I appreciate that so much! Thanks! Glad I could help
What a fantastic tutorial. Thanks so much! Looking forward to getting in there later today and get this figured out!
I really appreciate it! If you run into any issues feel free to reach out!
this is the 4th time i am watching this video after clean install of windows 4 times. I love it, just simple and to the point and it works. thanks for making this video.
i gotta say this video has helped me soo much with streaming i always come back to it to make sure my audio is set up correctly but i wanted to say thanks again love the video and keep up the good work
Why can't all tutorials be as well structured and straight forward as this. Amazing job!
exactly what i thought, Thank you!
What do you mean straight forward? Took him over 30% of the video length to get to the point...
Also if anyone has a problem where as soon as they route spotify to the AUX input VM Banana "crashes" (You hear no sound when audio is being played). Simply hit the Menu button on the top right corner of VM Banana and hit "Restart Audio Engine".
Hope this helps!
legend man! I had this problem (: thx man
Honestly thank you so much for this comment i was about to give up with trying to fix it
a fking god thanks a lot
2 years later and this is still golden, thanks for the amazing info
it wont work for me
Thanks so much it worked for me initially I thought the desktop audio wasn't working but after a shutdown and restart it works today.
Thanks Bro! much appreciated ! I actually was looking around on how to get my PC Mic to be primary for my Xbox when I stream from it ( Dont have a capturing card ) however I just learnt alot about sound engineering lols . Keep up the good work! happy new year .
Thanks so much Lahuso!
Do you have to reroute spotify whenever you restart the PC? I do but I'm wondering if I missed a step somewhere
I've come back to this video too many times! No matter what my issue is I can get a firm understanding from the topics covered in this video... it is truly a reference I hope I will have for life!
Such a great video. Can't say how much time this saved me but thank you for making this. Super clean and well done, really liked that you showed what it would do up front and then the complete detail of every step. Thank you!
unless there was just recently an update how did you get it to work, I cant get mine to work
Can you do this again, but updated cuz I did everything as explained but I still had issues. This was very detailed yet I still ran into issues such as routing Spotify and capturing desktop audio
one thing I found was if i had Spotify paused when I tried to route it would just show pending, but as soon as I played a song it routed exactly where it needed to go.
Thanks a lot for this video and I see it helped a lot of people. For me tho, a wierd thing that happened after I followed your steps is that I do not see Desktop, Spotify, Discord etc. just "Voicemeeter Input" then "My microphone" then "Voicemeeter Aux Input" in streamlabs OBS mixer settings. I saw a comment that said to use CABLE input in discord and setup CABLE output in streamlabs OBS. I did that but when I test my stream Discord is still outputting to my stream. I feel like i made a mess of things somehow and better uninstall before I mess up even more audio. Would you be able to help perhaps? Kind regards, Jerry
This is a godsend, I seriously spent 8 hours yesterday trying to get my audio right. Since I'm using a external dac and amp and a wave xlr everything kept doubling or not allowing me to adjust the sound on stream without changing my own settings. I tried using the wave xlr app and it doesn't work for my setup if it does im not smart enough to figure it out. Now I can litterally plug all this stuff in and take off and go such a blessing dude thank you.
You just saved me from going crazy! Thank you so much! 😅 This gave me all the info, links and an easy to follow walk through! I'm going to try my hand at streaming and now The hardest part of the setup is finished!
:) i when I try to move my spotify to voice meter input it says " system cannot find the file specified"
same!!!!
same
Go to volume mixer and manully do it for Spotify out and input
Did u guys find a way to fix the error ? I’m getting the same error now
You have to download a different version of audio router instead of the 32bit version go to the option under it and download that one instead
been streaming for months now trying to figure this out i appreciate this alot man helps me a lot
This is awesome man, thanks a lot for this, especially the mention in your pinned comment about adding Chrome !
Great video, NoMercy!
Thanks in advance for the simple and good video! As a complete newbie with audio tracks and stuff, It really covers all the basic steps to achieve the split and helped me a lot! I never have tried to split audio, so i was a bit confused about wich track was each one in Streamlabs (Duuuhh) but it didn't take too long to realize that (in case anyone is slow like me: Desktop = VB-Audio VoiceMeeter and Spotify = VoiceMeter Aux Input).
Don't know if i will get a reply since its from last sept, but i have a question if you don't mind:
1 - What config should i use if i want to stream spotify songs and games for example but only keep the game/mic track in the VOD? Does this have something to do with the 1 to 6 we selected in your video? Or i will have to do some extra steps?
Thank you!
Hey Kirimaze!
Thanks so much I’m glad I could help! As for your question, when you say VOD, do you mean the VOD that is published onto Twitch when you have completed a stream? If you are referring to that then there is no way to remove a single track in that process because on twitches end, anything the viewer can hear while live will be in the VOD. If instead you are referring to recording your stream through SLOBS while also streaming, then that is when the separate tracks can all be dealt with when you edit the recording in something like premiere pro or davinci resolve!
Hope this helps!
@@nomercymerc understood sir! Anyway you helped me a lot, its very nice to be able to control the tracks separately. Thank you!
Of course! Glad I could help!
When I Do this no desktop audio comes out, please fix
I know this video is older, but if anyone's passing through and happens to have an answer, when I play my spotify I notice that the music shows movement, albeit slight, on the audio track that my desktop audio should be coming from, almost like it's bleeding over. If this problem sounds familiar or anyone thinks they may have a solution, it would be greatly appreciated!
The most complete and concise tutorial on setting this up that I've been looking for, for weeks now. THANK YOU!~
I knew absolutely NOTHING before going into this video. I was able to get it set up because of this video. THANK YOU for holding my hand through the whole video😂
This is a great video and it's really helpful, but whenever I switch my default sound output from something other than Realtek I can't hear anything at all.
Same here. I couldn’t stand it
FYI: If you are using an audio interface for both input and output (microphone, speakers/headphones) you'll have to set your playback to the MME option for the interface if your audio cuts out and stops working. **[EDIT: At the very bottom of the speaker selection options, there should be your audio interface name. Choose that.)**
thanks for this! I was wondering what I did wrong when my audio cut out

Can’t wait to get home and try this when I get home. Exactly what I was looking for!
Damn the boy really do be poppin off
when i tried routing the spotify music to the aux an error code keeps popping up- is there any way to fix that? ive followed everything else properly i just dont know what i did wrong
I had the same issue but I fixed it by uninstalling and installing Spotify again
The error pops up when you try to using audio router within a zipped folder! Make sure to unzip the folder that the audio router is within first.
@@nomercymerc I extract the zip file and it I'mstill have issues, saying that access is denied and router function is not available.

This was exactly what I was looking for, thanks man!
So glad I could help!
When I try to route my Spotify on the audio router is keeps saying routing pending. EDIT must play Spotify again.
Yup exactly! It needs audio flowing through it to complete the route!
You're my hero
omg thank you!!! this needs a pin. I was looking everywhere for this solution!
6:00 getting an error message when trying to route it to voice meter aux
Same
Probably one of the easiest / best tutorials i've gone through. Thank you so much. Now my stream just got much better and it's all due to you
So thankful of you, simple and clean!
Thanks so much KSW!!
when I try to change the route of Spotify, it pauses Voicemeeter completely, and when I refresh it, Spotify changed back to the default route
BTW you truly deserve more fame! Great tutorial!
I can think of 2 potential fixes to try!
1. Sometime it can take up to 10 seconds for audio router to reroute in which your music will go silent during the rerouting process so try to be patient.
2. If that doesn’t work, sometimes Voicemeeter gets caught up and will require you to reselect your headphones/speakers in the top right “A1” category.
Give those 2 solutions a try and let me know if they help! Also, thanks so much for the compliment! Many more tutorials and stream highlights to come.
@@nomercymerc same happened to me, then I just reselect my speakers in A1 category and worked 👍❤
EDIT: Solved! NoMercyMerc was kind enough to personally help me solve the problem, it turned out to be a simple config that I may not be able to do it without his help, thanks a lot
Hey Zeru! Glad mine is clearer than many others! To answer your question, you shouldn’t have to route discord at all through the audio router! Discord will be added to each of your scenes within streamlabs and set to “CABLE Input”.
If that’s not clear enough, feel free to jump in the discord and we can figure it out!
@@nomercymerc Followed everything, settings all look identical. Having this same issue of Discord not splitting from main audio, but trying to copy this fix didn't work (Although I didn't understand what the fix was saying much, which is probably why.) All audio that isn't mic and spotify are playing through VoiceMeeter Input AKA the main one, including Discord. I added a "cable output" Audio Input source, but this didnt do anything other than exist for me. Discord is set to Cable Input, the Audio Output Source is set to Cable Input. I know this is old but if you see this I'd appreciate at least the push in the right direction. Thanks.
Not gonna delete incase it helps someone else who is dumb like me. It DID work!! (Thank you) I was testing it with embedded youtube audio though so it was registering as not discord audio, tried it with testing my mic and it started coming out of discord on SLOBS.
Omg thank you so much dude. This was the easiest tutorial I've found on this. Bless you lol
Thanks bro this helped out so much! For some reason when i played it in the video player from my computer the audio only picked up one audio at a time but on Premier pro it picked up all five! Thank you so much for this tutorial, it helped a ton!
Thanks so much! Yeah most video players only support a single audio track! I typically send all the audio to track 1 and then split from there on since then when played in a video player, it will hear all the audio in track 1 and then when editing in premiere, I just delete track 1 to have everything split!
Instructions unclear, now I have 14 boxes of Nilla Wafers
Honestly not the worst mistake possible to come from this video haha mind sending me a few boxes??
Me finding no one having any trouble with this frightens me
Hey TCBlue! Plenty of people have been having problems but I try my best to help all of them. What’s your issue??
@@nomercymerc it fine now it worked but it made everything jugging my pc
Really great job. Thank you so much. Man, I can't tell you how deep I went down a rabbit hole, and how many #*$ videos and other tutorials I went through to accomplish the same thing. Another "thank you" for posting the Chrome vs. Spotify thing... I basically am using Windows Advanced Sound Settings to "pipe" both Chrome and Spotify to the AUX input (i.e. anything I do NOT want the stream to hear) and then MUTE that in the Streamlabs OBS mixer. I haven't tested all this, but I finally feel good that this is going to work! Really really appreciate it.
Awesome!! If you do run into any issues or it’s not exactly how you want it, feel free to reach out!
Just what i was looking for. Cheers dude!
Thank you so much for this tutorial bro! it really helped me a lot! take care!
Of course! I really appreciate it! Keep an eye out for a video this week about the best decibel range for each source later this week!
For those coming by 3 years later and have the Error 5 with Audio Router, the software has been discontinued and does not work on windows 10 and above anymore. But don't worry because Windows can actually do the same job without having to install anything. What you'll wanna do is :
1. Go to the sound settings of your computer (Windows Logo on the left side of the task bar > Settings > System > Sound)
2. Go at the bottom of the page and click on "App volume and device preferences" under "Other sound options".
3. Choose the app you want and click on "Default" underneath "Output".
4. Change "Default" for "VoiceMeeter Aux Input (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter AUX VAIO).
And it's done ! It works just the same and you can go on with the tutorial.
Hey, thanks for such a brilliant guide! Everything worked, execpt now ONLY in discord when people speak, it sounds like they are speaking into a cup. There's a very strange hollowness to everybody's microphone. Other sounds in discord like muting and unmuting do not have this effect. I would sincerely appreciate any help you could offer me on this. Cheers!
Thank you. You’re the first person I’ve come across that’s made this make sense!
I want to say the same thing. I saw a voicemeeter tutorial before, but found out it wasn't going to do what I wanted to do. After this video everything is clear and I can finally make my own setup.
when I go to add the Voicemeter audio to streamlabs there is only the AUX version the other one doesnt exist
thankyou so much this video, is very helpfull with simple instruct
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your video actually helped me so much! After watching COUNTLESS tutorials, yours was complete and helped me fix my Spotify not being able to adjust.
YAY!! I’m so glad I could help :)
@@nomercymerc Hi, I actually have a small question. Everything seems to be working when I do test recordings (I stream on Twitch) but it does not seem to be picking up the alert audio which is going through desktop device 1. I can see it going through the mixer for desktop device 1 but no sound is recorded. I'm not sure what the issue could be.
Within the meter settings, you have to make sure that your alert sounds have the “1” check marked or else it won’t be heard by the stream since you are pushing only track 1 to the stream
Ah, thank you for the reply. I got it working. I think it's because the volume for my alerts is too low. No matter how much I raise them, the music seems to drown them out. I have it set all the way up!
Ah awesome! Glad you found the solution :)
So how did he make the separate audio files? Do
You just input the audio captures for discord, Spotify, and whatever else manually? If so what device are they capturing?
Thanks i was looking for that tutorial
Voicemeeter aux input on Streamlabs is not available on the dropdown list. On the other hand, would the recordings show up on file like video and the different audios (Mic, Discord and game) separately?

So glad I could help :)

You by far have the BEST video on this program hands down. only thing I would say is that you should tell them at the start that there is a point where you will lose sound but keep watching the video and follow the steps. Other then that its hands down the best video. Thank you so much for the help
Thanks so much Stanley!! I REALLY appreciate that! I totally agree with you! I made the top pinned comment that information but I didn’t think about it until the video was posted :/
I wasn’t even aware this was a thing in Streamlabs. Thank you for the tutorial
Gave it a shot and worked just right. For a second I wondered why I heard myself in testing only to find out I left A1 on when seeing your side of the control panel. Now that its fixed, everything should work just fine. I've been wanting to have Discord Audio more clear and louder rather than quiet when recording videos. c:

possibly you can answer me- is there a voice separator software that can allow to do following- if i have a mp3 or wav file - basically audio of 4 - 5 people conference, and wanting to separate each voice to individual voice, as well as lower the background noise, and later wanting to improve loudness or reduce loudness in the talk of each voice.
You are a lifesaver! Thank you so much!!
Of course! Glad I could help :)
Do i always have to re-route spotify from audio router everytime i want to use it? because everytime i open spotify and audio router i always have to re route it.
idk if its supposed to happened or not
If anyone is having the issue where all the tracks are playing the same audio you will want to instead setup the tracks as Mic/Auxiliary options and choose the respective outputs for them.
For discord you will want to instead setup an Audio INPUT Capture and choose the Cable Output option which will fully separate them in streamlabs.
Hi, I followed every step of this tutorial. But when I get to discord and want to talk with someone I can't hear them. I can see the soundbar on streamlabs go up and down when they talk but I get no audio volume when Im with them in the call. Do you know what I could had done possibly wrong?
Hey! Will this allow me to split my game chat to my headphones but not my stream? I have not been able to do so and this appears to be the best chance I’ve gotten after all my other failures.
