My grandfather worked on the development of E-Type, was a friend of William Lyons .. I have a few special bits of memorabilia from him .. Only ever rode in one once .. but has always been my dream car !
i guess I am kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch new tv shows online ?
Having grown up around a S1 E-Type it pleases me to see them getting a bit more recognition from the UA-cam car scene. Top work as always James!
The interior color is unreal. Love it.
looove butterscotchy
Gorgeous ride! Enzo knew a gem when he saw one. Helm did an amazing job with this one.
Enzo did...even though he never said it was the most beautiful car ever created. That is an urban legend dispelled by the man who was actually there. Norman Dewis, jaguars test driver. Enzo did say it was beautiful, but that was it. Non of that ever created nonsense.
@@elmerfudd1086 I feel like you should provide a source link since I don't see your info anywhere and the Enzo quote is still used.
@@FrankDBoyce let’s just stick with it, whether Enzo said it or not, it’s true.
You may already know this. Upon seeing the E-type for the first time, Enzo Ferrari said to one of the Jaguar staff at the show "You know, the only thing wrong with your E-type? It doesn't have the Ferrari name on it"! (something like that)
IF he said that, and there is absolutely no "documentation" of that supposed "quote", he sure as hell wasn't talking about "late model" E-type COUPES.
And "a competitor"? ROFLMAO. Yeah. Mass-produced "race inspired" E-types were "competitors" for Enzo's hand-built "grand touring" road cars that were Enzo's only REAL "passion" while Ferrari "race cars" were nothing but "busy work" for the "engineers" once new road car "development" was done AND the "race cars" were all "raced" by factory "engineers" and WERE "road cars" only heavier with additional safety equipment.
And "Le Mans"? It was not a "race" in Enzo's day and the Ferraris were not "works cars". It was a "reliability trial" and primarily an "engineering exercise" and a full 2-week "grand tour" of Europe ran in a "day".
Which is why when Ford's "factory" races cars "beat" Ferrari with "professional drivers" and one "mechanic" behind the wheels - Ferrari never had a "team" of identical cars - Enzo Ferrari was "absent" and could not have cared less.
Especially since Ford "invested" more in the GT40 "program" just to "beat Ferrari" - on its second "attempt" against the same Ferrari "field" from the previous year - than Ford "offered" to buy Ferrari "outright". A LOT more. And at the time Ford itself was teetering on the edge of "bankruptcy" and in fact HAD to "go public" AND eventually "retire" all of its "factory race teams" just to avoid being "sold out" because none of Ford's "competitors" were remotely interested in "acquiring" Ford Motor Company at any price.
The "Ford family" retains its "controlling interest" in "Ford Motor" despite being a "minority shareholder" because the "Ford family" had to "bail out" Ford Motor Company and "holds" the overwhelming majority of its "debt". And continues to "invest" in absolute dead-end new vehicle "programs" and "development" as well as "motorsport" because as long as Ford Motor has a "negative net worth" there is no risk of a "hostile takeover" and an "outsider" coming in and actually putting Ford in "competition" with the other "Big 2" in "Detroit" by ending Ford "globalism" and the huge losses Ford's business operations "abroad" create every "year".
Restomods will be the future drivers cars when everything goes electric or hydrogen. I LIKE THEM!
Their guy in UK that turns old cars electric
You are assuming everyone hates the idea of evs. I don't. Plus reimagining cars cost lots of money
@@allensaunders449 true. But what cost the environment to make those batteries in raw materials in mining. Vs small hole in ground pull natural gas is where need think. Or what spend in electric is hydrogen the best answer with zero emissions with water as bi product
@@allensaunders449 I don't hate evs either, I quite like them, I just don't think they have the same soul as classic cars. Evs are useful in their own way. But I get where you're coming from.
@@jamespugh That's like ripping out the soul of the car and hooking up to the Matrix. It's pointless and sacrilege.
I'm with Enzo, the E-Type is stunning, especially the Series I.
The most beautiful car of all time
Restomod Mk 3 Jenson Interceptor Restomod next please. Helm has done an amazing job .Yet again British craftsmanship at its best.
Bravo James for a great review 👏
One of my favorite cars of the 60's.
To nice to drive in that kind of weather imo.
I had a 1971 Series III V12. It looked similar to this...and that's about it! Driving mine gave you the feeling of piloting a skateboard that had been snapped in a half and then taped back together again, badly. I am told it had brakes but I never could prove it! Great video James!
Who would have thought the pinnacle of automotive hubris lay in the past. The restomod scene will continue to flourish and for good reason. Cars are often described as works of art and this beauty epitomises that. Enzo knew what he was on about. Stunning .
The way it is done this car can be used as a daily driver for a minimum of 25 years. Kudos to the restoration. Absolutely stunning.
Wow, this is a pennacle of beauty. Ive restored autos for 33 years and im just saying I appreciate the level of attention given here to such an icon of a car. Thanks.
I really like the car. I really don't like the bold HELM logo absolutely everywhere.
Yes, it's a bit Roadster Shop, isn't it?
I guess it's a deal breaker for you
If one can afford this, you can also afford to have the logos stripped. I would... I find the Helm logos disgusting in a car like this.
Doesn't bother me one bit, because just look at her shine!
It's their demo car
You'd have your company's logo on the plates
Simply gorgeous. I can't believe that they let you drive it on such wet roads. There's much detailing that has to be done now.
I imagine that detailing this masterpiece is a labor of love.
How can someone dislike these kind of videos or a car like this???
This video is epic!
Mr JWW thank you so much for the content you are uploading!
Greetings from Greece!
I'm almost 100% sure youtube just generates dislikes. Can't imagine people disliking stuff like this.
The car of my childhood and youth... I still see the price tag 27000 DM on the red convertible with the black roof... Too sad I never managed to drive one!
Thanks so much for keeping the dreams alive!!
love the photo of Ayrton Senna on the wall in the first shot. Legend.
Ever since I was a child back in the 60s the e type has always been in my top 5 of all time. For me, this e-type helm is the most beautiful car I've ever seen. I bought an XK8 which I can afford, because the e-type is beyond my price bracket. Next best thing I guess. Absolutely stunning workmanship
Restomods are the way to-go, specially when they look as stock as this! Wonderful!
I was just watching another popular You Tuber who's currently in the USA, and i was just thinking to myself I've seen all this before, nice but not for me. Now, this type of content yes please. The craftsmanship of these artisans the story needs to be told and i believe your the man to tell there tail. Keep up the great work.
Cheeeeeerssss!!!
Glad you enjoyed ☺️
They manage to create a carburator-sound. Gorgeous.
Suck air thru a throttle body, of any kind = carburettor sound!
I’ve got a fully restored e-type in my garage-but this really is the best of both worlds-well done sir I salute you.
Such a shame to see this beautiful car driven in such nasty weather conditions.
Absolutely gorgeous car! As much as I love classic cars, the restomod keeps so much of the beauty and character of a classic while making it useable without many of the potential problems. The Singer Design Porsche vehicles do this as well.
My father had one of these - with the in line 6 - I loved the weekend drives and looking at it in his garage. One note about the resto-mod approach, I would have liked to have seen head rests and seat belts - then it would be a true daily driver
The E-Type Jaguar...my favorite car of all time! Since a little boy! I enjoyed this video and the ride immensely! BTW, JW, I see just a bit of dirt on the back fender after you took it out for that spin...take care of that, will ya! 🤟😊
By all means JW, take care of that! 😁
A work of art. Hate to say it but should be in a museum.
It is. Only a museum can afford to buy it.
One word .............”beautiful “ 😍😍
You're absolutely correct about today's supercars and classic cars....character and experience levels are much better in the classic car with character.
This is absolutely beautiful- I love the doors - Helm you have done so well 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯💯💯💥💥💥
Love these kinds of cars. The older cars just have a certain amount of character and personality that new, plastic clad, cars don't have. You really can have a lot fun flogging a car around at normal speeds. Please bring some more to the channel.
Coming soon 😎
That’s an amazing restomod ! Congrats to Helm on amazing craftsmanship 👏🏻👍🏻🍻🇨🇦
Restomods done properly are the way to go.
I want one. This is in a different world omg
Of course, this is a fabulous specimen. There will be those who want the incredible attention to detail provided by companies such as Helm and no doubt, there'll be far fewer with the funds to make it happen. However, for me the notion of wanting to improve upon what I consider to be 'perfection' is an alien thought. The E type became the icon it is not only because of its incredible beauty, its charisma and performance but also because of its affordability and idiosyncrasies. At over £400,000, there's no way I could relax driving that on regular roads but I do understand there are those wealthy enough for that not be of concern. On a practical note, I do feel that this car looks a little 'bare' without the over riders. This is my first viewing of a Mr JWW video and I must say, what a smooth and confident presentation he gave - no wonder the channel has so many subscribers.
The "Singerization" of the E Type. Absolutely stunning...
I actually tried to buy an E type 12 cylinder from a dealer about 20 years ago. It was unrestored original not in particularly good shape but he just wanted way to much for it.
The early 12s were notorious for overheating due to inadequate water jackets in the heads. British cars are not made for our warmer climate here across the pond.
I think this one is the most beautiful one I have ever seen.
Proud of the work! Seen this being built from scratch to what it is now.
The most beautiful car ever made. Had my S1 E-type for 21 years now. Could never sell it. So special.
Anyone know where I can cash in the wife & kids ? 😂
I really want one of these. E types have always been up there for me, but the helm is the pinnacle of a dream 'classic' car. Forget the eagle e type, this is the one 😍
Thanks James, you've got a knack for making us fall in love with your featured cars. Top quality work dude, as always.
Enzo was bang on, that car is drop dead gorgeous & classy. There are many icons from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s & 80’s that deserve today’s technology whilst retaining their heritage 👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌
James, when you think about it was actually marques like Aston Martin, Jenson and Bristol that started updating and upgrading client cars to meet modern demands, ergo the original restomod was born. I welcome this new series and look forward to the next instalment. I would love to see the Alfa Montreal restomoded I believe it has huge potential! 😎 Cheers keep up the good work mate! 🙏
Exquisite gem of a restoration. Lovely that they let you drive it and share it with us. Good on you.
I think you will find they are the cam covers that have the HELM engraving on!
I want to absolutely thrash this thing on the Tour Auto. It would be fast, luxurious, and able to carry plenty of stuff. Additionally I love the passion he has for materials, specifically interior materials. You can tell he has a background in textiles, which as a lover of textiles myself, I can really appreciate his passion. I feel like I could talk about textiles with this guy for hours without getting bored.
14:48 I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ARE DRIVING THAT DEVINE HELM JAG IN THAT SLUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Driven as intended....;)
I'm glad I don't have to clean it afterward.....that would be a big job....
arguably the best UA-camr car presenter, now with a fancy garage to showcase the finer details. I hope his subscribers to triple this year.
if my boss asks me why I'm late to office today, ill show him this video
II was 18 y/o in 1967, I drove many muscle cars. Saw my first E type in 1965 and fell in love. The electrical systems were rubbish. The skinny tires, poor brakes, incomplete sound system and they leaked like an old barn, but the profile was PERFECT.
1:37 I honestly still think that quote was taken out of context, and he actually said it's the most beautiful car outside of his own cars.
I am sure he meant it when he said it, but I am equally sure that it was simply a snapshot in time, and he considered his own later cars more beautiful. The Daytona is definitely an homage to the E-Type.
No he got the intent correct
I’d love to see a TR7 restomod. I helped my neighbour restore one around 25 years ago when I was 16. I’ve loved them ever since
Keep your singer I want one of these!! Everything about this is stunning!
I’ve wanted an E type since I was a kid, I’m 54 so I’ve been dreaming for a long time. So beautiful.
As much as I genuinely LOVE an original E Type, I have this desire to see one built in an F Type DVR. E Type body and interior, but F Type drivetrain, suspension, etc...
I had a picture of one of these hanging on my bedroom wall in 1963. It is timeless in its beauty. Unfortunately the closest I ever got to having one was the picture.😢
What restomod I would like to see? Singer 911
Or a UK company equivalent like 911Rennsport 👍
@@RobGalvin65 theres no other company that even compares to the level of build quality of singer, they make the car absolutely perfect down to the millimeter
Love this!! I love the restomod scene. I thought that would be a hit more than 20 years ago when I had a dream of taking a 1969 Camaro and giving it a modern day V8, real disk brakes, an actual suspension and a nice interior. And here we are and people doing it charging boat loads of money...and getting it! Tim Allen’s 1968 Camaro SS is the kind of thing that just speaks to me. Love the E-Type. Very iconic. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Love it! Would love to see the Canepa 959SC that has been Reimagined......
Simply stunning. This must surely be the best E Type available anywhere. Congratulations to the team at Helm.
Eagle speedster. But they cost.
The trunk floor is off centre so you can get the spare wheel out.
You mean the boot.
Isn't a boot something you put on your foot ☺
@@allensaunders449yes You mean like a hood that you wear on your head
Completely agree with you. Modern super cars and sports cars are going way to far on what you can enjoy on the road and sometimes even on track. Would be glad to hear from you How Helm compares to Eagle.
The metal man, such a sick thing to cruise in
Stunning! Sooo good to be able to see the engine rather than a black plastic cover to optimise heat. The fuel injectors hidden in the Webers - excellent.
It looks absolutely gorgeous - so clean and shiny, it's such a shame it was taken out onto the road in such dreadful weather!
This E-Type and 63' Corvette Stingray split window, have some special!😍
Mr. JWW will you review the toyota 2000gt and the jaaaaagggg xjr 15 ?
Ooh a 2000GT. One of the most beautiful cars ever alongside the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale and Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2.
Restomods like these are becoming more relevant in this day and age of crazy powerful supercars and uneventful, self driving electric vehicles. Perhaps refining classic cars by skilled craftsmen to a level that could be described as `automotive art', like this E-type, is typically British. I don't see Germans and Italians do this with their beloved classics. Your two minute reaction and conclusion after 16:48 sums it up for me, I couldn't agree more. Thank you Mr JWW for this video, I enjoyed it very much.
Just a piece of art.
(Soft close doors have to go, though)
I would miss the satisfying clunk/click of the normal latch.
yessss
What a piece of automotive art. Absolutely stunning.
I really love this a car a lot, it's just amazing and so beautiful. You are a lucky man if I may say so! I would hope to see you in a DB4 GT zagato
Stunning car, attention to detail is exquisite, I saw this car during the build phase and it looks as good under the skin as it does outside.
Incidentally the boot floor seam was off centre on the original car to allow easy access to the spare wheel without removing both panels.
I feel i have to say thai i was surprised to see the presenter wearing dirty boots and jeans whilst showing us this beautiful interior!
All in all well done guys!.
I would like to see a review on the Singer 911 and the Alfaholics GTA-R
Great work on that E,, my son and I are restmodding a 86 XJS.. custom engine bay, custom V-12 work (all polished aluminum, chrome and S.S.) custom body work, shaved doors, shaved side lights and gas door lip, an original TWR body kit, custom interior and trunk ( capacino/caramel color leather with black Alcantara). 18"x9.5" rims with 265/45 rubbers.. custom ECU, performance suspension at all 4 corner's, every nut and bolt are S.S.,, custom 2-1/2" SS exhaust, and it goes on and on.. the point is that you have twice the car, reliability and you know car 100% .. and my son and I spent 3+ years together, I couldn't buy that with all the money in the world.. he knows is car by heart, he understands everything about ICE(internal combustion engine).. and then best thing it's becoming very rare here in Canada, and it stands alone from the same BS car's that all look the same..and are breaking down all the time..
Exquisite. A perfect homage to the original but with elegant additions. I’d have probably ticked the ‘wing mirror’ options box mind.
Restomods are so cool. I just want some affordable options but otherwise I love the series.
You could always build your own as I am 🙂
@@paullevers1095 yes I am looking at doing that. I just wanted him to cover some.that are not hundreds of thousands of dollars.
@@eichler721 sounds positive. What are you thinking of doing?
Mine is a 1955 MGTF Replica based on a 1971 Triumph so not an up to date retro mod but should go and stop a bit better than the original.
@@paullevers1095 I am looking at a Shelby Cobra with a modern Coyote. If I could afford the 5.2Voodoo or a built 426 that would be amazing but I only have so much cash.
Edit: its also a replica as I wish I could buy a crazy original but thats dreaming right now.
@@paullevers1095 mine is definitely a summer car and occasionally track day. It should sound amazing and be pretty fast since it should weight around 2600lbs or less.
Restomod episodes are the best! Keep em coming sir
the one thing i never liked about E-Types were the skinny wheels and tyre's, they just didnt look right IMO, but they have addressed that beautifully and it now looks how it should have originally
Fantastic. Reminds me so much on my 1967 4.2 2+2. And everyplace I drove people always commented how beautiful it was. My Ferrari was correct, most beautiful car ever made🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
Ì'm always scared that the car will hit one of those walls when it's rotating on that round platform. 😱 It looks so tight.
That looks like the most beautiful, desirable and usable classic to me. The fastest car I have ever been in from a sensation of speed was a 1930 4/4 Morgan at 35 MPH. It was almost impossible to breath as the slip stream came over the windshield and it felt like we were barely in control.
I mean, yeah everyone loves singer, but this is real class for me
If only I had a spare half a mill laying around! What a stunning thing. Just beautiful.
English Perfection!
English Class! at it's finest.
Love E-Types... Had a 71 V-12 coupe and it was a great car. Don't know if you are into bikes, but 60-80's bikes are great for resto-modding. We've done some Honda Trail 70's with 190cc and 212 cc engines and they are pure fun to ride. Also CB750's and Yamaha RZ350's are great for modding. Keep up the great videos!
Let’s face it, the original interior was a bit crude. This is amazing.
Using the lens of the era in which the Jag debuted, it wasn't really all that crude: compared to my DD of a Hyundai? REALLY crude!
Paul W I was using today’s criteria.
In the highly unlikely circumstance that I could ever own one of these magnificent vehicles there is no way it would ever venture out on wet roads let alone those that had had a dusting of snow. Absolutely beautiful car that I have lusted after all my life.
Another benefit of a Restomod / modern day build allows for all year round driving
How can you dislike this video what hell is wrong with people 😑
There is always that guy in the room...
I never thought there would be a more beautiful car then the 60s Jaguar E-type... but this is simply stunnishing, the looks, the sound and the Beautiful interior! I'm in Love! Please make more of this videos. And though It's a absolute downslide also include the price of the car so I know what to order if I win the lottery! lol
Spot of context and sum of its parts in every video a couple of times. Love the channel but I am tempted to get you a dictionary for your birthday to broaden your vocabulary 😉
I dont normally comment on UA-cam but I had to laugh at this given the errors in your comment.... all the best to you sir 🤣
P.s. What a car!!! Let's praise that instead
I was lucky enough to have owned a 1970 series 2 4.2 drop head in powder blue. I was in my early 20's & paid a pricely sum of £1300 for it. 32000 miles & mint condition. I sold it in 1975 to purchase my 1st house. Nearly 50 years on & i still miss my e-type. I have got myself a nice v8 f-type now ,which is a monster , but still something about my old e-type.
Phew, the softclose doors are a huge no for me... on any car, on a classic its a major sin
I just don't like 'em. They're for wimps or handicapped people.
@@KutWrite This. How much effort is it to close a door properly? Not enough to justify an extra electric motor + wiring, sensors and sheit imo
What an absolute stunner. Whilst other kids had lamborghinis on their walls. I had the E-Type.
420k + vat? Wow, that is pricey....
Really well done reimagined cars are expensive
High-quality Restomods like this, Eagle E-Types, the Singer Porches, the Cyan Racing P1800 etc are infinitely cooler and more interesting than current, modern super, and hypercars.
Here in Australia you can't even look sideways without tripping over a speed camera or speed radar. A cool car that is great at 50-60 Mph is way better than one that has no driver challenge at all under 100MPH because you need to be on a racetrack to get any sense of driver involvement. Also, most, if not all fast cars these days come with crappy, flappy paddle auto transmissions which take a lot of the driving fun away compared with a good manual gearbox. Who but Internet fanbois care if their supercar is .3 of a second quicker over a 1/4 mile than another brand?
One restomod I'd love to see you do a report on is the Mototechnique Ferrari 308GTB with the 400HP F40 block they are currently producing...it is sublime.
I wouldn’t drive mine in wet, slushy conditions.😢
Stunning! This is power to weight ratio is on par or even better than the power to weight ration the FK8 Honda Civic Type R. Wow! It truly does look like restomods like this are one of the ways to help save the manual going into the future. Well done with the video and thank you for posting.
This is the biggest waste of money I've ever seen on an E-Type. You know what they say about a fool and his money...
This is stunningly beautiful, without a doubt. Kick it up a few notches and voila, a mercedes 300 gullwing would be the ultimate project for this channel.
Haha, I love that you don't show yourself getting in and out of this (gorgeous) car. I've never seen it done gracefully.
This is, to date, the only restomod on an E-Type that looks really good, not to mention the well thought out improvements. I want one.
