Hey Amanda, as someone who codes software and dabbled on game development, your ideas are 100% valid, and everyone else is talking nonsense. It's literally just adding objects, interactions, animations, and a color library. EA is just lazy and incompetent (super well known in the industry). The whole "optimization" thing is an excuse for shoddy coding.
Yeah they’ve been possibly spaghetti coding since 3 and maybe even since 2 (there’s in-game options that can break your game like deleting families in the family bin or deleting/sims destroying Urns, etc. which they could’ve fixed by getting rid of those options or coding in for it be okay *sigh*) and seemingly putting old code on top of new in TS4 too lol which makes a lot of sense considering Sims 4 was built off of a multiplayer function based play lmaooooo it’s a hot damn mess.
@@micahcook2408 yeah I looked at how they organize and execute moodlets and animations and they basically whitelist every possible emotion, which explains why sims can't animation cancel and why they terminate actions to express moods. It also seems like every object has a library of interactions which contributes to added loading times and also adds dependencies (like the urns being tied to sims) causing inevitable crashes. It's an incredibly risky decision to make a game this way, haha.
I stg EA spends most of their time procrastinating then the dev team needs to add everything during crunch time and then EA is surprised when it's not implemented well.

Ok first off, I agree with you. And secondly, I would like to add that they probably have a shit ton that's already planned so we won't see any of what we want till next year lol. I'm just a web dev but stuff is planned out at least a month in advance for us when we have weekly releases. I can't imagine how much is planned ahead/promised/done already (even though I'm sure nobody asked for it lol) for one big release every few months. Among other things, I assume that's why skin tones took so long cuz they couldn't squeeze it in when they already promised so much to EA and Disney with the star wars pack lol
I want playable schools (elementary, middle, and high school) because sending my sims to school and having to wait a couple minutes for them to come back without seeing the school is so boring

the fact that you need a loading screen to go to a neighbours house just makes the game feel isolated, it doesn’t feel like you’re in a neighbourhood just a house on your own😭it also makes it harder to make friends with neighbours

We already have weddings where it takes an hour for all of the sims to get to the altar. And my biggest thing funerals. Idk if funerals have already been addressed and there’s a reason we don’t have funerals in a life situation game, but I want them.

There’s a mod called SimDa Dating App that kind of let’s you do online dating. It’s definitely not the most developed, but you can scroll through and pick someone to date/hook up with.

I feel like part of the reason EA doesn't add many "messy" features to the Sims is because they see it more as a kid friendly game, but I feel like the people that play it the most are teens and young adults. I want the messiness of real life, like divorce, more consequences like Amanda said, I want more drama. I always find myself just making new sims and designing their houses more than I play through the actual game because it's so "perfect" and easy so it gets boring.

They can't possibly advertise those things to the older audiences, no, because it's "inappropriate" for adults to like the same things children like. The worst part about the small town thing is that we have like a cute desert version of a small town BUT ITS STRANGERVILLE AND NOBODY FUCKING WANTS THAT

as for ts3, after installing, you should just search up a video for reducing lag in the game
the need a better romance system. every sim is fluid in their sexuality and it takes 3 romance interaction to make two sims date. so sad.
Right! I know this is an unpopular opinion but I do wish that Sims had set sexualities. Like, I'm bi and the Sims world is currently my dream world 😂, but it takes all the challenge away. I want my simself to try and flirt with a woman and be rejected because she's straight or asexual. Just... Roaring over the dine out issues. I can't not agree with you more. Wish these sims can just sit, eat and not chat to make a 20 minute meal last hours. You are lucky you don't have eco lifestyle because then visitors steal furniture while sims dine. Taking out the eco features doesn't help because if a town voted to steal they will steal and steal and steal leaving your lots empty. HOT MESS.

I love when you post your rants about the sims. They need to watch your rants and fix the damn game.
We need mixed lot types desperately. That we it could help with the lack of open world. For example a restaurant upstairs and a lounge upstairs. Or a gym downstairs and possibly a residential area upstairs.
Can we talk about the sims developers repeating objects from one pack in another in debug??!!! Like i have this shelf from get to work and it’s in debug in get famous😐 like bruh
Ugh. Debug shouldn’t even be a thing. If it’s normal tree, just let us play with it without cheats. It’s so frustrating. I understand debug for giant scenery pieces like a huge ass train track that will barely fit on a lot or like collectables. But if it’s normal objects that you can place like other decorative items, let us have it!
@@aurelie8220 and when in debug there is an item from a pack but it’s also in basegame?!! Like lmao what is that. I’m sure if modders can organize debug, then the developers can make it easier to look through. Especially because sometimes you find those hidden gems.
Expanding on the section about kids/preteens, if we have bullies I need the sims to remember that those sims have a terrible relationship. Like when they age up into young adults they need to still hate each other.

Using argument that "coding is hard" about multimillion company that released one of the biggest and most technologically advanced games out there is such a bullshit excuse.
I'm sorry but making games *it's their job* saying it's hard is not an argument you're not talking about some indie developers you're talking about bunch of well educated people with years of experience, people bootlicking corpos just because they're in game industry and seems more "personal" than other corpos gets really annoying, they're not even treading them like teams made of adults they act like they're all kids that will get very tired after writing one line of code.
short list of things i'd like
- live able retail/restaurant/cafe lots (so you could build a house upstairs and your shop is downstairs)
- farming/ranching pack (just so i can have horses and make a cowgirl)
- a generations style pack to overhaul kids/teens/elders (prom, slumber party, boarding school, walking canes, senior homes, etc)
- hotels/resorts/theme park bc duh
- a stuff pack or game pack for music related things ( more instruments, bands, concerts )
- im a fan of occults so i'd like a fairy type of thing (i want to make the winx club)

One time it was Christmas and one of my sims made a family dinner. One of the kids set up the table and they literally all sat at the same table without me controlling. I swear, I thought my game was broken 😳
quick fix for other sims getting mad at your sim cooking/sleeping/showering in their house: *always welcome trait* in the satisfaction point rewards

HARD agree to all these. Also I've been WANTING to have lots that are within hillsides, so like half the basement is literally underground. No more all flat lots!
1. I want better/complicated traits. The traits are bland and unseasoned chicken. I want more traits slots and their needs to be more deep traits. Why do evil and good sims act the same. 2. Relationships in the sims 4 are trash. I want my sims to fight with their siblings but, they still love each other. Relationships need to be more deep and complex when it comes to families.
When i make my stumbling fight, they get to be friends really easily again.
Yes! I also hate that when you click on a sim there's no category for family behavior. you can pretty much only be funny and friendly
Well first and foremost the Sims 4 needs to make their game playable without any mods or cc needed before they talk to us about buying shit. The fact that I have to rely on mods to fix the errors in the Sims....
I feel like the small business pack could work really easily: let sims buy/run any of the existing lot types, hire any sim they know including themselves, then they could create a new interaction like “pay to____” or “charge to____” so you could select which interactions your customers pay for. Hotels are also in the pack somehow.
What I want is Skintones being fixed on console because what's happening to the Sims with darker skin is DISGUSTING.

Dine Out has been out for like 4 years. Which makes it even worse.
ngl i want fairies as a game pack so they can do something similar to vampires but i need my sims to actually be. unique. i need traits and emotions to matter, desperately
I want fairies too! They were cute in Sims 3 but they could be amazing in Sims 4 with the good fairy/ bad fairy system of Vampires. Idk though because we already got realm of magic so I doubt they’ll give us magical fairies

I remember having a survey that suggested an American high school EP (like discovering uni) just imagine:
- cheerleading, football and other extracurriculars
- schooling options (homeschooling, private or public schooling)
- Prom (even if it is a rabbit hole), slumber parties (seen as they half did generations in parenthood)
- A mall/shopping centre would work so well here
- remember when we had cliques in sims 3 uni life imagine that but for highschool
- elections for class president, prom king and queen (I'm seeing a little cute ballot we can check off)
- detentions, bunking/skipping school, faking illness, coursework, exams (because we need consequences for complex gameplay)
- good time to introduce cops to catch kids bunking school
- oh and bands
- if we have interactable lessons the idea would be you'd return home at 3 pm and you get to choose if you want to attend or not. if not you can have fun little prompts

I know this asking for a lot, but I would love a life stage between toddlers and children for preschoolers. I also want a life stage between children and teens for preteens and middle school. I also want strollers so I can take my baby/toddler Sims out places.
My top priority is GAMEPLAYYY in every pack in every aspect of the game. There are too many plot holes where our sims "do" something but there are no graphics to it you just wait. I don't want to wait for my sim to be done work or exploring half the day!
this is my BIGGEST want and its that the random generated sims in city living dont look like they were just styled by a clown

I loved this!! and thats a game not far off 20 years old! It adds to story even just seeing your sim travel on a loading screen

Adding on to the expansions pack part, I think a cool idea could be an amusement park expansion pack
-It’d be a Disneyland looking world(could be called llama land or something) with rides and food stands and mascots going about
-could possibly introduce hotels(?)
-A small addition to where you can send a pen pal a souvenir from the park
-Themed merch. It would be feking adorable to have my little toddler sims walking around with Mickey Mouse ears and princess costumes or superhero outfits and want to have a room with a character’s theme in it
-It could add a new job of owning hotel/resorts or being a mascot or general ground person (idk what it’s called) for teens.
-The park could change themes depending on the season if you have seasons(?)
It might be asking too much though so i dunno. Just thinking aloud
theme parks would be SO fun or even like a scaled back version of a carnival and they can interact with rides. Maybe like a circus tent rabbit hole and the sims leave w happy moodlets

theres sososo much they could do for kids- parent-teacher conferences like even just the parents go in a rabbit hole and come back with some sort of report and they get rewarded/punished, summer camp/sleep away camp, go to their grandparents’ house for the weekend, learning how to ride a bike, breaking bones and getting the cast signed
Actually why can kids learn instruments but there’s no music or band after school activity 🤔 why do we have basketball courts but no basketball team for kids, college soccer but no kids soccer club/team, athletic career but no high school football etc lol honestly thinking about it it’s like why?
