“A figment of pigment in an imagination.” *snapplause.*
I love this woman so much.
Alsoooo.. what’s your IG? Your profile pic is stunning! ✨
Every time Colourpop releases a new collection with the exact same peachy pink blush and slightly cooler pink blush my life expectancy decreases by a year
Your life expectancy must be very short by now because they use those same blushes in every collection.
I don't get why there's never pink blush it's either orange or purple it kills me
bruh deadass the sailor moon blushes and animal crossing ones look the same to me.
I can't stand Colourpop anymore and I used to love them so much. I had all the colors and all the lippie stix. But now every time I consider getting anything I just can't justify it....
I kinda want the garden palette tho lol
i see you in the comments of all my favorite creators and even in the comments of kpop stuff! love ur content miss katherine :D
Just wanna say you’re based and Im sorry I disliked you before recent times.
I totally getcha but after watching black ppl swatching and using it.....the concepts in nice tho
"colour" "pop".... okay, where is the colour that is supposed to be popping?!
They be popping out of existence and only be popping in my hopes and dreams....
I also noticed that whenever they post a black person that person wears a lipstick or concealer or something from them but NEVER eyeshadow or blush. That tells the whole story..
the photos for aura & out shadow palette have a black woman showing off the shadows but...the filter/editing on it so bad. there is NO way colourpop's shadows did what they did in that photo. they're not pigmented enough
@@endermommy right? Instead of making actual good products for black people they try to fake it. I dont get it..
@@xtown4971 is this for real? This is inakzeptable even without a pandemic
Whenever you ask why do you hate black people, I picture the brand cringing and I laugh
I find it very interesting that you have to address people's WRONG (objectively, stop typing) opinions of you. "I'm negative", you are not obliged to feel positive about discrimination. "People say I don't know about coding" and then proceed make valid criticisms about the SIM'S coding/lack thereof. You're winning against your critics 100-0 in the 4th quarter and they will still have something to say.
imagine if the blushes were the island fruit. "Deep Cherry Red" "Apple Red" "Orange" and "Pinky Pear". boom gave you that for free colourpop. i'm just disappointed they didn't come out with a mirror or brushes, i wanted to buy something but the makeup looks cheap and they probably want $15 for 4 shades.
Exactly. They have no excuses because most colours in AC are vibrant. But we ended up with the same ashy blushes and palettes like usual 🙄
i got so mad you excluded pears and then remembered pears are green
My mom is lightskin and this wouldn't show up on her
I'm latina and my shade is medium and it doesn't show up on my skin, only with concealer
Why are ALL of colourpop’s blushes the color of PEPTO BYSMAL I got those super shock blushes from the candy land collection cause I’m a slave to nostalgia and they were silver glitter and some hope on my cheeks.
And they have the nerve to release the same shade of sheer EVERY COLLECTION DJDJDJSJSJ
I got one of those blushes expecting pigment...and it barely showed up...no pigment at all!! 😭😭
I’ve always wondered why if they can afford to release soooo much back to back why is it so hard to release more blush shades with every launch? Like give us 2 light 2 med 2 dark.... not that hard.
It’s not hard, they have their own labs and everything, they CHOOSE not to.
I just know Isabelle would NEVER endorse the animal crossing palettes, this was tom nook's idea yup
As a makeup and AC fan, I saw Mayor Mori drop a vid on it, and was just severely disappointed to find out this collab didn’t feature any IN GAME makeup ;-;
*in kanye voice* colourpop doesn’t care about black people
Only to find out that Kanye himself doesn’t care about Black people. It hurts.
@@michaelthoel6199 pain just pain but honestly I kinda felt that he didn’t like bw for a while
Do ya’ll remember when the one dude threw a shoe at George Bush. Ahh... such simpler times.
Also, the sunsets are so pretty in ACNH... why didn’t they pull colors from that??
or a nice red shade for the apples. a dark brown for blathers. a dark blue for the fossils
BH is slowly but surely overtaking Colourpop just because they can actually put deep colors in their palettes lmao
Elf cosmetics too except elf doesnt churn out palettes that fast or discontinue their old releases
And Makeup Revolution the shade range in their blushes and bronzers is gorgeous
i dont think colourpop really cares anymore. they know people will buy whatever they have if it has cute packaging so they dont put effort into their stuff. it's really sad because they had potential esp since their price point is really good but they wasted it.
Yep they put sm less effort into these big brand collabs they just make the packaging pretty and are selling nostalgia
NotAnotherBiWinningJoke did you watch the video on how they don’t even restock what lip and face shades they once had that worked rlly well on dark skin tones??? They are perfectly capable of making pigmented lip and face things and even if they don’t restock could come out with new collections that appeal to dark skin tones. Plenty of drugstore brands can make pigmented shades so I think they aren’t trying hard enough
@NotAnotherBiWinningJoke They had pigmented stuff for good prices they just discontinued them for some weird reason
THIS ANIMAL CROSSING COLLECTION MAKES ME WANT TO SCRAPE OUT THE SHADES AND REPLACE THEM
yeah and carve out some circle pans while you're at it because i hate these square pans
I didn’t even hate all the palettes (don’t have all the monochromatic palettes so this would fill something for me) but then they POPPED THE DANG GLITTERS IN
same, i was so disappointed with the pressed glitters. i'll still try to get the just a tint lips though, i love the idea behind them
My issue with colourpop is that they used to have a bunch of stuff that was their base products and then they’d add collabs on TOP of that. Now everything is just brand collabs and it’s like things get discontinued every other month. It used to be easy for me to find products that would work for me on their website in like 2015 because they had like “hero” products that black gurus would recommend. Now I’m lucky if I log on and find an EYELINER that’ll show up on my skin tone. It’s frustrating!!!
Oh, I miss when their collabs were good and you could tell how much time and effort it'd taken them to come up with creative designs and ideas. Now there are so many launches that the average consumer doesn't even care.
"we want to appeal to everyone"
I am translucent paper white and there are plenty of Fenty products I can use despite it mostly being marketed to darker skin tones, but I'm not even sure I could use some of the Colourpop blushes? Why are they that weird pastel colour, who are they for?
Exactly this!! I’m pale af but I can use deeper shades with a light hand. The same cannot be said for darker complexions, where they could use lighter shades. 😞
Same here! If the product is super pigmented and dark, I just use less...little tap tap.
Colourpop cream blushes have always been a weird patchy mess. The eyeshadows are very unsaturated too. Even the super shock shadows are a glittery patchy mess now. They need to close up shop lmao
“Do black people exist in the ColorPop universe?”
They have black models and some darker shades of foundation and concealer to appease us .But every thing else that they have released last year eyes wise haven’t really been dark skin friendly except for the raw beauty kristi collab but that doesn’t count because she designed that not them.
It’s so easy for them to do I don’t understand they do everything in house so why can’t they whip something up for us.
Seriously every collection involves the same peach milk and strawberry milk blush and ashy Ash palette in either Ash orange or Ash grey with pressed glitter. It's boring.
@@xlectraheart but they'll always have an entire row of bone coloured nudes???
i am so upset that colorpop and animal crossing are in the same product.
they constantly get such great collab deals but drop the ball every time 😭 how do you make an animal crossing makeup collab so bland
i mean one thing they have in common is that they mess with people's hopes and dreams. colourpop denying hopes and dreams for pigment to show up, and animal crossing (more like nintendo but idk how it works in that company) ignoring people's hopes and dreams for better/improved gameplay
@@Ub_Moods Makes sense, 2 problematic companies working together. Slightly better than MAC and Sims.
@@singulariteasI'm still so dissapointed by the sailor moon and hello kitty collection.. like such basic colors 😔
they've literally been ruining the best parts of my childhood one by one....also the lunar new year collection was absolute TRASH???? why can't they just restock the stuff people actually want and quit it with the pink
Right.... I just want a new so jaded palette. I’ve hit pan on almost all my colors.... 🤦🏼♀️ and I truly believe THAT palette is inclusive.... troubling
My mother is white passing and the pastels don't do anything for her either. So I really don't know whose buying their stuff if it can't show up on white-to-olive skin.
If they were gonna do Animal Crossing palettes, they could have included a custom design code for makeup in game, so people who just like the game would pay for the palette, but instead they went the Tom Nook route and focused on money, not product smh
Literally watch Colourpop release a Winx Club collection next week to coincide with the release of Fate: The Winx Saga!
Watching colourpop shit on sailor moon and now animal crossing with their lackluster uninspired melanin unfriendly collections made me mad.
notice how when they repost black creators wearing their products 99% of the time they’re only wearing a colourpop lip product😭
Fr and even when they post a darker person wearing the eyeshadow the colors still looks dusty and not pigmented
You can literally choose to have an orange island so there’s no reason to not have a vibrant orange toned blush
imagine how beautiful "cherry red island" would look like as a blush. they really dropped the ball on this one.
someone said a fruit theme palette. so we can have the peach shades, and then the cherry ones if we wanted.
I’m so glad you spoke about the “Karruche & Ellarie” collabs! Those collabs had great colours, it was so annoying when they got rid of “Kae” lip liner and they did not give us a replacement. It was a perfect blend of bff 3&4
The last time I purchased from them was when they had their brown sugar collection. It was the only collection that was good for my skin tone
@HolographicAMV'S ooohh no! I ended up getting a back up because I knew this would happen 😩
@HolographicAMV'S I wish I had another back up .. I would’ve sent it to you
I bought that collab, the last time I bought a colourpop product, and it's my most used palette ever even though I'm extremely fair. Products that work for black people can work for white people too but not necessarily the other way around
They also photoshopped a white arm to make it look black in a swatch picture to make it look like they got a black model. Minsooky has a good video on it
I just got the colourpop new brush set.... I don’t wanna talk about it
I'm so sorry for your monetary loss. They colors don't show up huh? I've made this mistake as well
As a black person with medium skin, the Going Coconuts palette was completely unusable. So ashy. Not only do they not care about people with dark skin, their products in general are OK at best. If you’re a makeup newbie, just save up and buy a palette from a mid-tier brand that’s been well reviewed by black ppl
And on the chance you find something great, THEY NEVER RESTOCK anything but palettes!!!!!
colourpop would make a princess and the frog collection but still just have baby pink blushes at this point
as a white person i used to praise color pop because they had what i perceived as good starter makeup, but i never even realized how ignorant my perspective was. thank you
ur not “grasping for straws” they’re trying to gaslight you
You know what’s funny? The brand is called Colourpop, but where is the pop of color? 🤨
Colourpop is becoming a nostalgic display company. You literally buy it for collecting. Nyma couldn’t dare use anything. I purchased the RBK colab simply for the DEPTH! Mind you I am the same color as the paper bag. It’s shameful.
you killed me with “some Almay bullshit”
My problem with them is like you said nothing they have other than a crusty matte lip that dries horribly can fit darker tones, but my main thing that being an amateur in makeup is, and honestly, I don't really have the plans to get better, the products they have requires people of darker tones to know how to make-up beyond doing a cut crease and I cant even do proper eyeshadow, products work for their skin like I just learned that when a lip is too light for me Im supposed to outline it with a darker one... Not only that but typically when there's a product in a brand that doesn't work you can just find another product from the same brand and it'll work better but with colourpop it's just terrible after terrible product. Im not Jackie Aina i cant do magic with a brush and a pop of powder grey clay... Im so pressed about the Sailor Moon launch cause I'm a lip junkie and the lip velvet stain or whatever its called caused my lips to one dry and two peel... and it looked terrible and arguably my golden undertones are not that hard for things to look good on...
you're not a "negative person," you just... run a youtube channel where you criticize stuff. you're not negative for no reason. oftentimes when you're being "negative" you're right and people should be listening to you. anyway keep doing your thing i love your channel
literally the pink cosmos in the game are HOT PINK but the blush they based it off of is so dusty and muted on purpose
I am GHASTLY PALE and some of the blushes from Colourpop don't even show up on ME! It's so ridiculous. Like come ON, how are they going to ride off the coattails of black beauty influencers in the beginning and then ditch them when they gain popularity???
was so happy when i heard they were gonna release an animal crossing collection but this wouldn't even show up on my white ass 😭 the isabelle palette should've been rich olives and mustards and browns and reds and ONE metallic cream shade. im not even gonna get started on the other three. i love colourpop and i love animal crossing, im just so disappointed because their palettes always wash me out and im as pale as they come. how is anybody going to get any use out of this? they couldn't try a little harder with at least one of their four palettes?
I know I already commented but
Colourpop just sent an email saying they parnterned with the Pull up For Change and releasing the new Make it Black collection. The performative activism is *STRONG* with this one 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
You aren’t lying.
every colourpop eyeshadow palette looks the same to me. the only difference is the shades
Amanda is going to drag colourpop through the dirt and I am HERE for it!
I literally can’t believe they didn’t create blushes based on the fruit for the animal crossing collab! A light pink peach, a rich orange, a deep red, and a dark cherry. Dropped the ball on that but I’m not surprised at this point. People are gonna still buy it tho which annoys me.
I actually wanted that. Those blushes are so meh! I really wanted a blush as orange as the cosmos flowers I have in my island. Actually, I wished everything was brighter and more pigmented, I'm not into pastel bs.
QueenSelene88 omg I can’t believe they didn’t make them the color of flowers! That’s so genius!! How come we can make it better than a multi billion dollar company? I agree, I’m not into their chalky white. Even as a huge, lifelong animal crossing fan, I can’t support (or use) this. How dare they not make this inclusive!?!? But as Amanda says, colourpop hates black people so why am I even surprised at this point?
I wish colourpop would go back to focusing on their super shock formula again. The industry is going back towards individual eyeshadows and they’re doing themselves a disservice. I remember when they said they had NO interest in a pressed powder formula. Those were the days.
they could do duochromes or trichromatic mess even. that would be amazing. i have a few super shocks and they are really really good, they just dry out before i can pan them. and now their selection of super shocks is sooo weak.
@@noelle9685 not to repeat the lemonhead debacle but I would love to see their spin on the JD Glow liners.
Honestly people who buy every single colourpop palette needs to lay that shit out and they'll see that most are the same or atleast extremely close. You only need ONE palette and you basically have them all. Its true too about the filter, I love eyeshadow with depth and I'd get a palette and feel absolutely cheated.
In the words of the grand theft auto: “Ah sh*t here we go again”.
"Alright that was 30 seconds of positivity, that's enough." Honestly though, you don't need to be "positive" at all! This needs to be addressed, especially since their popularity is only growing. Continuing to fund them is enabling them to keep doing this bullsh*t. Please tell them like it is!
The positive thing i found about the campaing was the little red shovel on the right corner. Just that.
The green synthetic grass has more depth that the pallet.
with all those resources, why can't colourpop create products that everyone can use, especially people of color? imagine still releasing ashy-ass palettes in 2021, lmao
Why would makeup brands not make their products work for the broadest audience possible? Like-even if these companies have no concerns for morals and are only in it for the money, they're failing to cater to a market who would be willing to buy their stuff if the products actually showed up on them. Do they really get most of their profit from racists? That's the only thing I can conclude from this.
@@TuesdaysArt I guess they do and don't care one little bit about anyone that's not printer paper pale.
@NotAnotherBiWinningJoke I'm no makeup guru, but I'm fairly sure there's makeup at Dollar Tree which is more inclusive (or at least, brands which are around the same price or cheaper than these palettes). There's no excuse for putting out ashy palettes in 2021.
@NotAnotherBiWinningJoke If a brand is constantly pumping out eyeshadow palettes that only people of a certain skin tone can use it, the price tag becomes irrelevant. It doesn't matter whether the palette is 10$, 50$ or 125$ - if you can't make an eyeshadow palette that's inclusive for everyone, then don't even bother making it.
this video has the same energy Kanye had when he said George Bush didn't care about black people I'm living for the colorpop hate
NOOO WHY DID AMANDA HAVE TO POST AT 1AM WHEN I'M LITERALLY ABOUT TO SLEEP
Me too lol, (GMT gang unite) but lucky for me my sleep schedule is spectacularly fucked
They’re gonna try and say they discontinue things “based on what sells” but like they also said a few months ago that they make their products to order I.e. things don’t go into production until someone orders them. So like why would you discontinue something for not selling if you don’t have to produce until someone orders it???
I think it might be more complicated than that but they should do polls on what people want to restock because then they’d get an idea of what we want
Colourpop isn't even that affordable anymore. It's upper range of drugstore prices.
i’m arab and during winter i’m fairly pale and these colours would be too light for me it’s ridiculous.. their stuff isn’t even good it’s just cheap:/
im south asian and have medium skin tone but i have golden undertones and all of their products disappear into my skin. like no staying power whatsoever. ashy af and i have DIG into the eyeshadows.
This isn’t shocking but still maddening.
Even when they had dark contour sticks back in the day, they had to rename them because they got called out for all the light ones having names with positive connotations and the dark ones being negative.
oh my god i remember this! the dark ones were named "typo" "dume" and "yikes" vs the light ones were "dove" "castle" and things like that
@@earthangelbaby_ seriously... like i can’t believe companies even still try to get away with shit like that sooo gross.
Also, Colourpop has been degrading their once legendary eyeshadow formula, so 😬
And then they had the Caucasity to make exact one (1) darker brown eyeshadow palette and call it "Wild Child" and cover it in animal prints.

... Yikes. 😬😬
Ok so when you were talking about how companies discontinue things for people with deeper complexions, it reminded me of something I saw at Target just yesterday (1/16/2021). I was walking past an endcap in the makeup section when I noticed a TON of L'oreal freshwear, powders and concealers from the same line all on clearance. I immediately went to check them out because I love the freshwear foundation. I couldn't find my shade in the selection that was there (460, medium). All of the shades of all of that makeup were the deeper shades. I thought that was weird. So I went to where the normal selection of L'oreal was and that line was still there, and not discounted... Even more bizarre. I wish I would have taken a picture of that, but it left me feeling confused. And now I'm wondering if what you were talking about, had to do with this...
i got over colourpop when they decided black people didn't like sailor moon like really !!!!!
Omg that's so true. I'm white and when I swatched the pallete it was super light even for someone pale like me. If half of the colors barely showed up on me then I doubt they would show up on people with a deeper complexion. And I didn't get the blushes but they looked super light to. It's so upseting colourpop gives people of color the short end of the stick when it comes to makeup. We need more people calling them out so they will make changes to the brand to make it much more inclusive.
I was so disappointed since I’m a weeb for that show and have been since the 90s but I’m over them that was too disrespectful 😕
@@breeanalefriex2764 I'm so sorry. It hurts my weeb heart too that people with deeper complexions can't enjoy the makeup. I hope a better brand can get the rights to Sailor Moon so they can make a better collection that everyone can use😊
I was so sad about the Sailor Moon collection. It really wasn’t made with a possibility of working on deeper skin.
Oh my gosh, when you pulled up the blushes I blushed with tangential embarrassment at how BLATANT their disrespect is! Wowowowowww. Colour Pop, you've got some explaining to do, missy!
I love the way you express your dissatisfaction lmao and everything you’re saying is facts too
Colourpop has become the Fashion Nova of the makeup industry and that’s def not a good thing lol
Also, what am I supposed to do with pressed glitters in almost every eyeshadow palette? Put it on my face? Hair? Ugh.
you're literally the first UA-camr I've ever watched that spoke nothing but truth about colourpop, so much respect
I received their "frog" and "sailor" super shock shadows yesterday because they got raving reviews. I was so excited and it barely showed up on my dumb ass. Idk why but their makeup looks so unbelievably terrible with my yellow undertones.
not even hesitating to like the video i already know everything she says is gonna be fact 😊
Honestly colourpop just needs to leave my favorite franchises alone 😫
I live for the memes u put at the beginning of your videos
The sailor moon, and hocus pocus collection did not have an orange blush, and you havent tried the items yet. Id love to see you try one of them on your eyes. As far as the animal crossing game itself goes i think the update that nintendo gave it that added a lot of hair styles commonly seen on black people was an admirable thing to do from a group of people who have never/not often designed characters of color. People asked for more inclusiveness and nintendo gave it
I'm so glad I saw this before I made my purchase. I'm just getting into makeup and I would've been so upset wasting money on eyeshadow that won't show up on me.

As black makeup beginner I was very much interested into buying their makeup because I love their packaging and and the pastels but if it doesn’t work on me it’s worthless.🧍🏾♀️😪
I BEEN fell of the colourpop train. I really tried to love them because they’re so nicely priced but the exclusion is outrageous when it comes to shadow shades. Ashy.Sandy.patchy.
“Colourpop hates black people”
Me looking at the screen like I’m Mike Myers👀😂😂
They could have done SO MUCH with this collection. Imagine a Hybrid Flower Palette, literally took me two seconds to come up with that concept and the colours could have been so solid. I can't believe they're paying people to release the same pastel collection every month.
I was just rewatching the color pop video and boom you uploaded
Honestly. Thank you. I promise you I was ten seconds from making a UA-cam channel to snap on colourpop after seeing this release. 🙄 They continue to disrespect black people with these un-inclusive releases. Ash on ash on ash. 💀
I’m so glad you made this video!!! Let’s get this convo going! Colourpop better see this
Someone mentioned that all their shimmer/glitter shadows in this collection aren’t even safe for the eyelid so...WHO is this for? What are we supposed to do with those shadows? Imagine how they would look on us?
While we’re on that note. Has anyone actually seen someone wear colourpop? I’ve only seen people collect colourpop. 😐
Hey i wear colourpop :D collect too, but mi think ile stop this because i got extremely bored with their recent releases.

I've never been on Colourpop's site before and I genuinely GASPED when Amanda opened the blush page
Thank you so much for posting this. This needs to be shared 1,00,000 times over!!
I’ve never even bought from Colourpop but I already know Bonnet Amanda’s gonna tell me exactly why I shouldn’t. ✨
they make the same 2 shades of blush for every collection. it's always pink and peach, go look.
Honestly I’m so glad you made this video I noticed it too just from watching your Let’s Talk New Releases and I was seriously considering boycotting Colourpop (I know it won’t do anything because I’m just one consumer but whatever) and then you come out with THIS masterpiece
I swear every time they reveal a new collection on IG the comments are full of people asking them to release deeper shades, richer colors, and to restock or bring back sold out/discontinued items. At this point they have heard that there's a demand, they've had time to address it (more than enough time considering how fast their turn-around is), and they STILL aren't listening to their customers.
every time i read the words "pattern of behavior" i swear i can hear you saying it in my head
ColourPop churns out palettes like nobody's business, they could easily cut down their releases a bit and instead release every single collection with a dark and light version of the palette. Imagine them revolutionizing the game. And instead they wanna cater exclusively to pale people except once in a blue moon when they do something with depth
Such a great idea
And they could do that so easily knowing they do everything in house !!
I literally DO NOT understand why dark and light versions of palettes don't exist :))) especially with face stuff like makeup revolution does it and their stuff is about 4 quid, this should be the standard of the industry by now
Lots of companies are like "oh the product is the same, we just launching a new package". Its not a new product, its a new package basically.
It truly boggles my mind that they don’t do this. It’s such a simple but inclusive idea. I can imagine with 9-pans, it might be difficult to achieve a color story that works for everybody. But doing two versions is such an easy way to fix that
