An interesting tidbit, of all the viking age art depicting Loke, he only started having "horns" or a horned helmet after the christianization of the viking sphere of influence. Before that, he was depicted as an attractive man sporting a Van Dyke or Vladimir Lenin style beard.

Next year this album will be a decade old. It really came out at the perfect time, when the MCU and Thor movies were at the prime of their hype. Twilight, Surtur and Deceiver were an amazing three album run that cemented the commercial peak of this band.

I feel like from this album onwards the band lowered the heaviness, pushed forward the heavy metal melodic riffs, and pushed the vocals forward, with big sing-along choruses clearly designed for concerts. The songwriting is very strong, but the production feels a bit too clean and lean for me, lacking the crushing weight of former albums. Still, very good songwriting!
I love this album, on the song Hel, is that Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden I hear? If so then Helll yeaaa!!! Fuckin Maiden!!! Amon Amarth never disappoints!! 🤘🤘

In walhalla there are no "air ambience sound"(you know ,that sound when you record "silence" on the recorder) instead of it, the own atmosphere is made of (in thisccase, "composed") by heavy metal. You can wake up and air is playing manowar ( "dawn of battle"from.manowar ,so life in walhalla is battling and feast preparing for ragnarok). When you have breakfast sounds folkearth "by the sword of my father"(for example) menthalysing you are going to fight for avoid ragnarok and let your descendants living for years) When you are dressing your armor, "armor of the gods" from manowar When you go to the battlefield, "journey through the dark" from blind guardian, and keeper of the seven keys from helloween "put on your armor, raged after fights, make yourself ready, for the lords of the dark" when you are formed in battle lines watching your opponents, it is playing "warriors of the world " by manowar and "guardians of asgaard" from amon amarth. And that who says "sons of the gods, today we shall die, open walhallas dorrs...let the battle begin with swords in the wind, hail gods of war" from manowar. as a symbol of respect to the gods.When you are charging versus the enemy,sounds "through fire and flames" by dragonforce. Out of all the albums up to date, this album contained thier best guitar tone. Super high end sound.

I think Twilight of the Thunder God had the best guitar tone, IMO.
