Embrace of the Endless Ocean has been my favorite Amon Amarth song ever since I picked up the album when it first dropped in 2008, it was also my late brother's introduction to the band, and he was hooked from day one. Whenever I hear the chorus, I can't help but think of sitting around with him all those late evenings with a couple drinks and joints showing him what I've been listening to and seeing his excitement every time I brought out the Bluetooth speaker. It hits a little differently these days since he never made it home that unfortunate evening coming home from work, but I still listen and play it with him in my mind.
😢Very sad.. May he rest in heaven.
I also love embrace the endless ocean. Thanks for sharing your personal experience. Sad, but it’s a way to remember your brother through a very powerful song.

I started being Amon Amarth fan from this album. And nothing of their other masterpieces is better so far
"With Oden on our Side" is fantastic as well. I like it better even though this one is rock solid.
This album & Deciever of the Gods there are other bad ass albums but those two albums OMG epic
Their new album, The great heathen army, has a lot of good songs.
The absolute best album from probably the best band in the genre. Every single song is an absolute banger.

When I had "Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags" as my ringtone, my dad will always shout "I SWEAR THIS BOY IS GOING TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK ONE DAY!" whenever my phone starts ringing.

Today it's been 7 years since I dicovered Amon Amarth. I remember playing this album once and over again the first time I listened to it and, after all this time, it became my favorite album of what's become my second favorite band of all time. Twilight of the Thunder God is the seventh studio album by the Swedish melodic death metal band Amon Amarth. Twilight of the Thunder God was released on this day 9/30/08 in North America. The album's name and title track refer to Thor's slaying of the Midgard Serpent Jörmungandr.

Look into the old school death metal band called Bolt Thrower, I hear a ton of Bolt Thrower influence with Amon Amarth. Bolt Thrower along with Death are the top teir old school death metal bands that had a tremendous influence on the bands that came afterwards, both bands are worth giving a listen if you're interested. i was a teenager when i first listened to this album now im a doctor. how quickly time passes but its still like the first day :)
That violin on live for the kill always makes me stop whatever I'm doing to just appreciate how beautiful it is. If you resonate at soul level with this music as I have, you very well may have been a Viking in a past life. I had 3 lives as a Viking, hearing these tales brings back flashes of those lives.

The Varyags (Värjarvakten) went to Constantinopel to serve the Emperor and their gold. The Norse mans was the Elite guard of the Emperor.
Still their best album, and that grinding riff after the breakdown in Twilight is just... fucking brutally groovy perfection.
There are very few death metal bands I’ve enjoyed. Amon amarth is one of the few.
