Great album, Classic! I miss Chuck. We were really good friends back in the day. Chuck moved into our fan club president's house between Mantas & SBG and we used to sit around sharing riffs and partying hard. Chuck was so fucking cool and amazingly talented. I just wish he were till around. RIP Chuck. ~Jeff Becerra/Possessed~

It's so awesome reading stories from back in the day. SBG and Seven Churches were the first metal albums I got my hands on from my cousin, when I was like 10 years old :P I always thought there is a connection in the sound of Possessed and Death. Cheers!

Fun fact: This entire album's guitar, vocal and bass work were done solely by Chuck, the drums are the only thing recorded by other person, Chris Reifert. Despite this you could technically say Chuck created the entire album by himself, truly a legend.

The first time I seen them live "Scream Bloody Gore" tour there was so few people at the show all of us were on the stage and they played for us live. It was like a personal jam for friends. I know its hard to believe but a 100% true story. Nobody heard of them at that point. I went to the show cause of their flyer I seen on wall of the club a week prier during another show. Death was so fucking incredible and so nice and down to earth and so fucking loud omg. they gave all of us their Scream Bloody Gore Cd's. I still have it to this day. The next time they came was the "Leprosy" tour and that place was fucking jammed packed as you can get it and had the biggest pit I've ever seen in such a club. I MISS THOSE DAYS. Miss my youth :( Rest In Peace Chuck Thank you so much.

This was a really huge store for CDs, Vinyl 200kms away in Munich(glorious days when there were record stores). If there was a place to get a certain Album in Germany - thats where you would get it. Cozy lighting. And I love the purple shade the one in the throne is wearing. You just don't see this type of nice scene anymore on albums these days.
The sound, the technicality, atmosphere, and thematic style is just superb. One of the best OG Death Metal albums. Without Chucks influence (Possessed also), albums like slowly we rot by Obituary, Legion by Deicide or Eaten back to Life by Cannibal Corpse would have never exhisted to help create the Death Metal we all love today, past and present.
RIP Chuck, the King of Death Metal straight up in my humble opinion.

Such an awesome album. I bought this at Tower Records on cassette in '87 just because the album cover was so beyond EPIC. I was 15 and remember picking it up along with Exodus Bonded By Blood. I really miss those days of randomly picking out albums just for the artwork lol.

I fell in total love with it and it introduced me to the new world of Death Metal because up to this point I only listened to Thrash/Speed Metal. Chuck became my guitar influence later on as he progressed with each album. Love this band and everything Chuck has done

@Flat Earth Florida I was at that concert, it was my first show ever I too was 11, it was at Long Beach Arena in California and was lucky enough to be there the night they picked for the album, I believe they played 4 sold out nights at long beach that weekend... It was the best thing I'd ever experienced in my 11 years, I never heard music that loud or seen anything like that. I think they are celebrating the passage from living to death..
And yes, it coul mean that... in the world of deads, were no one have eyes, he is the only one who could be half alive and rule it...he is the bridge from life to death!!!

      A. Od-Reszki Morbid angel is crucial, especially the first 4 albums IMO. Also highly rate Edge Of Sanity, they're very underrated. If you want to try something more technical Cynic, Obscura and Atheist are all amazing. Sort of a different genre all together but some amazing melodic death metal bands are In Flames (first 5 albums), insomnium, children of bodom, dark tranquillity and the first Wintersun album which is in my top 10 albums of all time :)

I remember first hearing this on Cobra Records in Winter 1987 in Canada. What a great album! I read in a magazine how good this album would be and it was - just look at the cover and read the song titles alone! Every song on this album is killer, so it's hard to pick favorites, but i'll go with 'Evil Dead'. Awesome times and awesome memories - SBG was sure a huge influence to me musically, no doubt! Without doubt, this album was the birth and influence of the Florida Death Metal scene. Like most first albums, it was dirty and not great, but it was the precursor to absolute masterful death metal albums. I think think this is a pretty brutal death metal debut and a very respectable first album. I love it.

    DENIAL OF LIFE
    In your dreams
    The pain is so real
    Before the dead
    You'll have to kneel
    Hear your future screams
    See your epitaph
    As you scream
    The dead they laugh
    [Pre-Chorus]
    Pain, growing stronger
    Life, exists no longer
Welcome, to a world of pain
    Death and despair
    [Chorus]
    Denial of life (Vile denial)
    Denial of life
    Denial of life
    [Verse 2]
    Created by your mind
    To overtake your life
    Sacrificial suicide
    End it with a knife
    Much too late
    To change your mind
    A bloody corpse
    Is left behind
    [Pre-Chorus]
    Pain, growing stronger
    Life, exists no longer
Welcome, to a world of pain
    Death and despair
