my second family dog was a vizsla and he was the best dog anyone could ask for. but your right they are not for everyone. they have unlimited energy and keep that for most of there life. my dog tiill he was 14 and up until he was around 12 or so he would play fetch for hours. when he was younger we used to let him run behind the car on gravel roads and he would keep up for several miles at 40 mph before he started to slow down. that was a good way to really get him worn out but it wouldnt last long hed be ready for more just a few hours later. one of the funniest memorys i have of him was when he was still a pup around a year old we took him to a lake and was throwing stuff out for him and he got about 20 yards out and a goose started swimming after him and he got so scared and about half way back from the shore he looks at my dad with fear in his eyes and yikes like save me from this monster. the goose was only really following behind him a few feet and wasnt really doing much but he was so terrified lol he was quite the wimp tbh even are cat would bully him somtimes and he'd come crying over to someone for protection lol.
They have endless stamina. We run with our Vizsla most days of the week, regularly 20-30k long runs but the longest was over 50k. And he still wanted to play fetch after! But he is also a real couch potato and you have to drag him out of the sofa after 8-9 pm.
Haven't watched all of the vid but to add my 2 cents: - Vizslas can adjust to your daily routine. If you are not a top athlete and do not go hiking every other day, they will adapt to that and become a bit more relaxed with activity over time. They still need their long walks, though. - Never yell or scream at your Vizsla. They can be very resentful and remember even for years if their trust has been abused or they have been treated incorrectly just once - They are an amazing breed and wonderful creatures, and if you are a dog lover, you will never want a different breed ever again. My wife and I love ours and he is our world
I dig the Paul Weller Style Council music in your video! I have two V puppies. Both males 3 months and 15 months. Best companions ever! We sleep in the same bed. Never hot or stinky! I feel safe and protected 😂
They really are the best companions 🧡 I’d be curious how the double male energy is 😂 Willa had a play date with her male cousin and he had way more energy than her! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊 I get my music from uppbeat!
My Viszlas have been with me 24/7 except 24 hours in one year for shopping. In a usual day they are actually touching me for 12 hours. Very beautiful experience ❤❤
I just got a puppy vizsla (he is now 11.5 weeks old). I have so many questions about how did you handle Willa’s first weeks. I have seen a video where you explain her puppy time and helped us a lot. Any chance you do an extended video? How long until she was happy to be inside her crate with door closed, how long and often did you walked her (as join issues are a problem, but our puppy loves to run), did she bite you or how long until she stopped? How was the first shower ? So many questions haha
i wouldnt worry about running or walking a vizsla to much. not enough is where problems will happen. my old vizsla would play fetch in the back yard for hours and hours and we would run him behind are car somtimes on gravel roads for miles going 30-40 mph before he would get to tired to keep up and he lived to be 14 years old when he hurt his leg really bad and we had to say goodbye. he never had any joint issues really. he was very energetic for most his life up until he got hurt.
(my main language is not english) I have an 11 month vizla puppy. With the crate training I think every dog is different, for us it took us like a month for our puppy to stop crying on her naps in the day, but at night she slept through the night 2 days after we got her (from 20 to 8). You have to have patience because is a really hard time, but is sooo worth it, the crate training for us is has been the best "investment" we did in her training. When she was more little we used to walked her like 2 or 3 times a day like 20-30 minutes, now is like 50 min. to 1 hour each time (we live in an apartment). We are waiting for her to be a little more big to start running with her, but I wouldn't worry about her running while playing specially if is in grass. We also took her to play dates with dogs we knew were gentle or friendly and now she is reaaaaally friendly and social. I also recommend watching videos of McCann Dog, they have really usefull videos about crate training and the biting issue (lots of toys and chew sticks were the solution for us, kongs, woof or other freeze toys because of their teething). Good luck!!
That’s so exciting congrats on your little V 🧡 I can try to put together an extended version to add on to the “first week with your puppy” We typically didn’t close the gate to her crate, but we enclosed the area around her crate with the pet pen gate, because Willa overheats in her bed she likes to come out and cool off throughout her naps. But she took to her crate really easily, within the first week she went in and out on her own. We only did on leash walks for the first few months, till she was fully vaccinated and had decent recall. About 5 walks a day, but we live in an apartment, so potty training was going out every hour or 2 🙈 I trained Willa to run beside me on leash first at 4-6 months. Once her recall was reliable we started running with her off leash at 6 months! Willa never bit us, but I think the “no, bad girl” then give her a chewing toy, once they bite down “yes, good girl” works like a charm. Buy an excessive amount of toys for them as puppies to get them through the teething phase. We did baths first, and would pour a container of water on her slowly and let the tub fill up. She was just frozen and then would try to make a break for it 😂 Willa prefers showers now! She just stands and takes it but it still isn’t her favourite thing. Some people smear peanut butter on the side of the bath and let them lick it off while they shower them! Hope that helps 🧡
@@BecomingADogOwner wow that was an amazing answer! Thanks a lot! The crate fence we bought thanks to your videos before we brought our vizsla home and it helped us a lot. You are so lucky that you managed her biting so good, it’s my only worry but we have trainers since he moved here and they say it’s just normal, and will stop alone… but wow, he goes crazy 1/2 times a day. Any video you think to do about Willa’s puppy time or now, is always a blessing 🥰 thanks !

Thank you so much for sharing your experience 🧡 haha I think Willa would be terrified in that situation too 😂 they are such wimps!

“…you will not believe how much more active you will become.” Truth! My vizsla is determined to make me set new PRs in running this year. 🤣
This is what I’m most excited about!
Great video!
Thank you 🧡

Have kids and a dog it’s the greatest
I'm a Viszla owner, I just l9ve her, she very affectionate, sensitive, happy dog, would get another for sure!
Would you ever consider getting a doggy treadmill for Willa?
I have thought about it for winter, but she is such a wimp haha I think she’d be terrified by it. We’ll take a video if she warms up to it!
Vizslas are insane
Insanely fun…?
