If you follow the guide, I show two points of which you can stop and reduce the amount of paints being used by half but still have an amazing figure for the tabletop!
If you enjoyed this video, please share it far and wide! This kickstarter deserves as many backers as it can get ... oh and naturally, some channel growth ;) How'd you find the tutorial?
Thanks a lot buddy! I would've used US Dark Green and then gradually added some German Camo Beige WWII for the layering and final highlight (both Vallejo) ☺️
Hi great minis and painting. I don't know if you are aware of a technique using a soft pencil (a 3 or 4B)? Try and run it over black weapons to give a slightly metalic tinge, it is quick and works quite well.
I've not done that yet but it's certainly something I've seen. I like that idea though and I'll give it a crack in the future 😁 thanks for the advice and lovely words 😊
Thank you very much! In all honesty, I don't use anything to thin my AK paints BUT I'm using the new 3rd Generation paints ... not sure if that could be why?
Welcome buddy, I'm so glad you've joined the hobby space and you've found my videos useful 😁 if you need any help don't hesitate to join our FB group and ask questions 😀
These look cool i have a few British airborne by offensive miniatures those are really nice very realistic proportions , not sure if these would mix well with them . I am tempted by these new empress airborne.
Thanks a lot mate. They're lovely sculpts and if you're interested in them, the Kickstarter is up for a few more days so you could grab some of the miniatures before it's too late 😉 I'd say you're right too about Offensive and Empress not mixing well 😔🫢
Noted! I'll definitely make that something I fix up in future videos. I have released a video on the paint brushes I use and the sizes I use too. I mainly use Rosemary and Co Kolinsky Sable 2/0 and 0 for all my miniatures :)
@@paintingpanzers Thanx! Make and model are not really necessary, but size helps a lot. In a video, closeups sorta put sizes out of proportion. Your size 2 brush looked about like a 4🤔
Thank you buddy 🙌 I use Tamiya Surface Primer Light Grey. It's just a rattle can as I find it easier than airbrushing ... only because my airbrush has to be set up in the garage every time I use it 😂 www.frontlinehobbies.com.au/tamiya-fine-surface-primer-light-grey-180ml-spray
I always use Grey Primer from Halfords. £11.99 for a large tin. It has the same light grey colour as your i dervoat, an gives a lovely surface that takes and grips paint perfectly. Only in my opinion of course, everyone has their own preference in undercoat.
Great tutorial. When I painted my Airborne a couple of years ago, I made the deliberate choice to go brighter on the camo patches to make the figures "pop". Just as a bit of rivet-counting, if that figure is based on the officer in that photo then the cap badge is incorrect - he was in charge of one of the Field Security Sections of the Military Police, so the cap badge would have been a brass/bronze crown over cypher within laurels (only Parachute Regiment had the silver wings; everyone else had their normal Corps or regimental cap badges).
Thank you so much 😃 I really appreciate it! I completely understand why you'd want your figures to pop! Ah, what a fantastic point! I can't believe I missed that but I appreciate you highlighting it! I will fix it up next time, although, I think the figure has the sculpted Parachute badge so it might a green stuff job 😉
I am working through a reinforced company strength Plastic Soldier Co of Paras. Much easier in comparison as detail does not truly matter as much as the Wargames Foundry figures I had previously. These Empress figures are a step up from them. Beret colour: Vallejo Burnt Red and a Quickshade Soft Tone Wash is as good as the real thing.
@shawnclarke9414 thank you so much buddy 🙌 I really do appreciate the kind words. Your support will help the channel grow and if you really enjoy any specific video, sharing it will help greatly 😊
Liar, liar pants on fire, you're using 1/16th figures & passing them off as 28mm:-) I mean you must be, great detail once again mate. For you it's Empress, for me, Artisan, I have fallen in love with their heroic block like figures, to each their own of course. Incidentally, am also sitting in that same boat as you regarding eyes, (it's a pretty full boat). Anyway, great job & if I ever do Brits I'll refer to this but for now there are US Airborne somewhere over the pacific heading my way. Cheers.
Haha, you caught me 🤣 thanks a lot for the lovely words buddy 🙌 Hmmm US Airborne you say ... watch this space 😅 ill definitely have to grab some Artizan in the future, I do love the look of them! Eyes are just one of those things, you either love having them painted on your models or don't. I just think it makes them look like they've got MASSIVE eyes, although, some people can absolutely nail them ... I can't 🤣 I hope your Paras arrive soon and don't end up at the wrong LZ ...
@@paintingpanzers The Artisan FJ figures are simplified, less kit (most just bread bag & canteen) & being metal they can't compete with plastic/resin but that's their charm to me. As they are chunkier there's more room to work with too if that's actually a thing with figures:-)
@@paintingpanzers Oh, if you do go down the Artisan route in the future I noticed a couple of the pak crew I have must have been early examples as the gas canister on their backs is the size of an oil drum, it's utterly ridiculous.
