I’m really happy with how this song diverts from the last two singles. It’s not overly showy. It’s melodic and melancholy in all the right ways. Oh and no breakdown to end the song, which is great variation.

Lorna Shore has a knack for writing catchy breakdowns and amazing solos, but Dude, check out 'From So Far Away' by All Shall Perish, if you haven't heard it already. Rusty Cooley is the guest guitarist for the song and did a lot of the soloing. It's one of the songs that seems to find you when you're driving at night with the windows down. You're doing the speed limit and the next thing you know you're doing 100. Let me know what you think.

Remember the song "BLUDGEONED TO DEATH WITH A HAMMER"?! That shit had shock value when it first dropped, but it definitely helped pave the way for serious deathcore bands now a days. Im 36 btw
Lorna shore reminding me of aversions crown...they found their niche and arent straying very far from that...which is cool until all songs start to sound the same
To the untrained ear they sound the same because they all have similar elements but the nuance and variance is everything. The thing that separates them from AC is AC 1.) didn’t incorporate orchestral elements and 2.) was very much [verse - breakdown - bridge - chorus - breakdown - breakdown - end] LS is very deliberate and masterful with how they structure their songs and paying attention to how the sections are arranged with the theme of the lyrics is the nuance I was speaking of earlier that AC lacked. I’m also a total mark for LS, full disclosure lol

The songs, so far, lyrically are about figures in Greek mythology. I think there’s a story being told as the album progresses and you’ll notice the structure and feel of the tracks will gradually shift throughout
They need more variation in their song structures. I love lorna but the past couple releases have all sounded the same. They just go straight to blast beat play as fast as possible to breakdown. What made their immortal album great was the variation from song to song.

I like how they take different aspects of past songs and use them to create something new. The beginning sounds a lot like sun eater, similar scale too.
It's not the song, it's the lyrics which makes me come back again and again to this song. Sometimes makes me cry too, thinking what would a creator think like in a situation like this.

I was feeling the same. Can only play a similar melody at 1000 bpm into a crushing breakdown so many times before I start to lose interest. It’s good. Really good. But the last few singles just haven’t excited me as much.
This band makes it real hard to argue against the “it all sounds the same” trope. I love heavy music, but the last 3 singles have the exact same song structure, this one just doesn’t have the choir-esque intro
If you really think this is anything like Sun//Eater or Into The Earth you're tripping. Will's screams sound similar because that's his voice, everything else is so vastly different from one another

I'm not really into this genre of metal, but I think if the vocals had a little more variation and less grunting it would appeal to way more people. Don't take it out completely, just a lil more variation.
Awesome as always. As lots of people said, tho, i'm starting to be concerned about them getting stuck into doing the same thing over and over again. Some more defined orchestral stuff (Immortal style), some more grooves, maybe even different techniques by Will (since he can do cleans, and even Mongolian throat singing, apparently XD), and overall sound and structure innovations would be very good for the band.
Probably biased bc I’m a huge fan of this band as well, but I’d like to see if LS took their sound towards a similar direction as The Faceless. Maybe even like a small verse of Will’s clean vocals in a song (his Sleep Token cover really got to me lol), but even just a more varied song structure or more melodic guitar riffs throughout would sound good I think

Guitar-wise, its all mostly in the same key, some tremolo picked chugs first fret, string skippy riff, solo and chorus. As well as mostly using the same scales for the string skipping riffs. And then drums is just non stop blast beats which gets pretty boring and tiring after awhile.

The song is really really good don't get me wrong they just kinda sound the same other than Into The Earth and To The Hellfire they all sounded the same to me (even Into The Earth wasn't that different)
I actually prefer this 'shorter' format coming in at under 5 minutes compared to 6+ for others. they still kept all the important bits while not overstaying.
The album track list is on the internet. The album is gonna clock in at over an hour and the title track Pain Remains is a 20 minute song divided into 3 parts. I can’t wait lol

That's not even the end of it. The breakdown->chorus piece is extremely similar to what they did in Of the Abyss. Another commenter said that this is probably the best time for them to evolve a little further and step out of this, albeit relatively new, comfort zone, and I couldn't agree more. This isn't 100% accurate here nor do I mean to imply it, but if a band released the same song 4 times in the span of 6 drops, I'd get pretty bored. I will dare to say, however, that they're undermining their own formula by overusing it.

Modern day problems. People actually worried about a band making 3-4 songs that sound similar. If they make at least 2 albums like that, yes, it's a problem if you want to say it. There are dozens of bands that revolve around the same ideas for even decades. Obsession with expecting something new all the time is really tiring.

I can tell on this one that they're doing small changes to mix up the structure, I hope they keep on that path to evolve the sound more. Definitely an extremely talented group of musicians.

Modern day problems. People actually worried about a band making 3-4 songs that sound similar. If they make at least 2 albums like that, yes, it's a problem if you want to say it. There are dozens of bands that revolve around the same ideas for even decades. Obsession with expecting something new all the time is really tiring.
