This will fail on all BMWs!. Coolant Flange Replacement N52

- Replacing broken leaking coolant flange on my BMW 328i N52 with a metal replacement piece.
This piece will leave you stranded as when it breaks off there's almost no way to fix it. What is a 15 dollar part ends up costing you 150 to have your car towed. Very easy to replace and should be done preventatively.

Good video. Don’t wait until 100k miles. I replaced mine at 57k, and it broke into pieces while removing it.
My 130i (n52) is loosing coolant fast. Hopefully it's something simple like this, and not my headgasket or something. Great video man
Awesome show !! Just had this replacemed on my wife's 535i.
Definitely a must do part. Very cheap and it can save one a tow truck ride or even a Headgasket!
@@autohut3720 most definitely.
These are some awesome cars but will dig into your pocket book. My wife loves it so I dug deep.
Oil pan gasket resealed
New motor mounts
Lower control arms done

Walnut blast intake done
New vanos solenoids

2010 535i just hit 120,000 miles
Running like a champion but you have to pay to keep it running like a champion !!
Still have original starter and water pump and thermostat. I bought it just in case .
@@donaldbarron7916 I had a 2007 335i. The N54 isn’t cheap to keep running as it should. Very rewarding to drive when it’s in good shape though. I think the water pump has a higher chance of just cracking as it’s plastic in those cars than it going out because of electrical failure. Always good to have a spare around
@@autohut3720 what did you have to do maintenance wise on your 335i ?
@@donaldbarron7916 my 335i sucked a belt into the engine 3 days into ownwership because of an oil filter housing gasket leaking on the belt and causing it to slip. That meant taking off oil pan and valve cover to clean the engine from belt material inside of it. This is why leaks aren’t left unchecked. I didn’t have to do much more because I didn’t have it for long but it would have needed injectors and transmission valve body solenoids and seals soon aswell
You sound like Manny in Scarface. Good video
Hello Friend, good to chat with you. Could you remember how much coolant was necessary to complete the cooling? Thank you.
Do You have a link to where I can buy that part from.?The Flange. TIA
This just happened to me yesterday. But the piece you replaced didn’t break. The hose just came off. I’m going to buy a clamp from Autozone, You think it I’ll hold?
Anyone have the piece or pieces go into the system? Will a flush get them through or is there any other trick to it? Will it flow through the thermostat or can I pull the hose and try to drain it from the flange end?
i just changed this on my e90 guy was right youll need a tow truck
just change it b4 it happens save yourself the headack
hahaha great vid brother. "You'll blow the fuck out of your engine". So true.
Cheers man!
T.
Lol it gets the point across better
Where did you buy the red piece from ?
Did you have to empty the coolant to install it ?
Just replaced mine but smoke comes from the engine bay. Radiator, thermostat, waterpump and valve cover gasket have all been replaced. Do you know what it could be?
Do u have the pcv valve recall? Since u replaced the cooling system (unless u didn’t do all the hoses) That could be the cause, or coolant that’s spilled out into the bay
My lower hose is leaking and no one has a video
Hey bro where did you buy the o ring at ?
I don’t currently have a source for just the o ring. It usually comes with the flange
Someone know the bolt thread dimensions?
No, however I ordered some through FCP Euro. You can find the part number on RealOEM (dot) com and search it on their website.
Alguien en México sabe cómo se llama o se compra esa pieza ?
Brother la pieza se llama Salina de agua. Aqui se puede comprar de metal en los Autozone no se si alla tendran esos tambien. Asegurate que sea de metal
why do you have to bleed the coolant?
Because there might be air in the system and that is not ideal for it to pressurize and cool properly aswell as you won’t have enough coolant in place. This piece is right at the cylinder head so you’re compromising the whole engine with air instead of coolant if you don’t
Do you know were he bought that part at? The site
Suckmyink_tho Misfire Race. It can be had for cheaper in other places though.
@@autohut3720 what’s the specific piece call by chance? I came to auto zone and they were clueless how to even order one.
what year is this car and how many miles does it have?
2008 328xi. Probably 110-115k or so at the time of this video
@@autohut3720 Thanks for your reply.
Yeah mine was brittle as fuck broken into small parts on my N54 335i had to fish out all the shit. When I replaced my drive belts and pulleys while there also installed crank seal plate . BMW makes great engines but they make shitty quality parts that fall apart or break around the motor .
This is likely a result of the people managing finances wanting to make stuff for cheaper. If the aftermarket can sell these metal ones for 10 bucks they’re probably making them for cents. Yet BMW decided not to spend that on these cars and their long term reliability
If bmw makes great engines, you wouldn't need to replace this plastic part.
mine blew out in the driveway.......REPLACE YOURS NOW!!!! $20
Lucky place for it to fail, mine did out of work
@@autohut3720 It was at 12am but yes......and like everyone, I had no idea this was thing until it happened......so common
Deciding to just replace the belt ofhg and coolant flange at once because i don’t want money siphoned out my ass
